3Investigation of cubic Pt alloys for ammonia oxidation reaction显示文摘As a promising fuel candidate,ammonia has been successtully used as anode feed in alkaline fuel cells.However,current technology in catalysts for ammonia electro-oxidation reaction(AOR)with respect to both cost and performance is inadequate to ensure large scale commercial application of direct ammonia fuel cells.Recent studies found that alloying Pt with different transition metals and controlling the morphology of catalysts can improve the AOR activity,and thus potentially can solve the cost issue.Herein,(100)-terminated Pt-M nanocubes(M=3d-transition metals Fe,Co,Ni,Zn)are synthesized via wet-chemistry method and their catalytic activities toward AOR are evaluated.The addition of Fe,Co,Ni and Zn elements can enhance the AOR activity due to decrease in oxophilicity of platinum and bifunctional mechanism.Pt-Zn exhibits the maximum mass activity and specific ativity with values of 0.41 A/mgpt and 169 mA/cm2 that are 1.6 and 1.8 times higher than Pt nanocubes,respectively.Pt-Fe,Pt-Co and PI-Ni nanocubes also ilustrate higher mass and specific activities compared to Pt nanocubes.Yat Tung Chan Kumar Siddharth Minhua Shao 2020Nano Research2020,13,7:10

5Concurrent stenoses: A common etiology of stroke in Asians显示文摘Atherosclerosis of cerebral vessels is a common cause of stroke. Racial differences in the distribution of cerebrovascular occlusive disease are well documented.Extracranial stenosis is more common in Caucasians,while intracranial stenosis is more common in Asians,Hispanics and African-Americans. Concurrent atherosclerosis of extracranial and intracranial vessels is common in Asians. The incidence of concurrent stenoses ranges from 10% to 48% in patients with symptomatic cerebrovascular disease. The long-term prognosis of these patients is poor and they are at high risk of further vascular events or death. 6Addressing the Achilles'heel of pseudocapacitive materials:Long-term stability显示文摘Electrode materials with high energy densities and long-lasting performances are crucial to durable and reliable electrochemical energy storage devices for modern information technologies(eg,Internet of things).In terms of supercapacitors,their low energy densities could be enhanced by using pseudocapacitive electrodes,but meanwhile,their ultralong lifetimes are compromised by the limited chargedischarge cycling stabilities of pseudocapacitive materials.This review article discusses on the cycling instability issues of five common pseudocapacitive materials:conjugated polymers(or conducting polymers),metal oxides,metal nitrides,metal carbides,and metal sulfides.Specifically,the article includes the fundamentals of the failure modes of these materials,as well as thoroughly surveys the design rationales and technical details of the cycling-stability-boosting tactics for pseudocapacitive materials that reported in the literature.Additionally,promising opportunities,future challenges,and possible solutions associated with pseudocapacitive materials are discussed.Tianyu Liu Yat Li 2020InfoMat2020,2,5:7

8Kawasaki disease with retropharyngeal edema: case series from a single center experience显示文摘To the Editor:Kawasaki disease (KD) and its classical diagnostic criteria are well known to pediatricians nowadays.However,KD can present with substantial overlap of clinical picture with many infectious diseases.Recently it is increasingly recognized that KD can present as pyogenic abscess-like formation with retropharyngeal edema (RPE).As estimated by Yoskovitch et al,[1] 5% of KD presented with some forms of deep neck infection.They could be in various forms,such as peritonsillar abscess,parapharyngeal or retropharyngeal abscess-like edema or acute mastoiditis.Not only do they mimic retropharyngeal abscess clinically,some with incomplete presentation may also contribute to delayed diagnosis and hence timely treatment.In this case series,we reported our experience in managing 24 cases of KD presenting with RPE.Dennis Chi Yu Au Nai Chung Fong Yat Wah Kwan 2019Chinese Medical Journal2019,,14:3
9TiN Paper for Ultrafast-Charging Supercapacitors显示文摘Ultrafast-charging energy storage devices are attractive for powering personal electronics and electric vehicles.Most ultrafast-charging devices are made of carbonaceous materials such as chemically converted graphene and carbon nanotubes.Yet,their relatively low electrical conductivity may restrict their performance at ultrahigh charging rate.Here,we report the fabrication of a porous titanium nitride(TiN)paper as an alternative electrode material for ultrafast-charging devices.The TiN paper shows an excellent conductivity of 3.67×104 S m−1,which is considerably higher than most carbon-based electrodes.The paper-like structure also contains a combination of large pores between interconnected nanobelts and mesopores within the nanobelts.This unique electrode enables fast charging by simultaneously providing efficient ion diffusion and electron transport.The supercapacitors(SCs)made of TiN paper enable charging/discharging at an ultrahigh scan rate of 100 V s−1 in a wide voltage window of 1.5 V in Na2SO4 neutral electrolyte.It has an outstanding response time with a characteristic time constant of 4 ms.Significantly,the TiN paper-based SCs also show zero capacitance loss after 200,000 cycles,which is much better than the stability performance reported for other metal nitride SCs.Furthermore,the device shows great promise in scalability.The filtration method enables good control of the thickness and mass loading of TiN electrodes and devices.Bin Yao Mingyang Li Jing Zhang Lei Zhang Yu Song Wang Xiao Andrea Cruz Yexiang Tong Yat Li 2020Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,1:3

113D printing of living bacteria electrode显示文摘The capability of preparing three-dimensional(3D)printable living inks provides a unique way to harness the activity of microbes and use them in functional devices.Here we demonstrate the incorporation of the living bacteria Shewanella Oneidensis MR-1(S.Oneidensis MR-1)directly into an ink used for creating 3D printed structures.Significantly,S.Oneidensis MR-1 survives the 3D printing process by showing prominent activity in degrading the methyl orange azo dye.Through the addition of carbon black to this ink,we further demonstrate the direct printing of a living microbial fuel cell(MFC)anode.To our knowledge,this is the first report on implementing 3D printed bacteria structure as a living electrode for an MFC system.The capability of printing living and functional 3D bacterial structure could open up new possibilities in design and fabrication of microbial devices as well as fundamental research on the interaction between different bacterial strains,electrode materials,and surrounding environments.Megan C.Freyman Tianyi Kou Shanwen Wang Yat Li 2020Nano Research2020,13,5:1
