Blue light-induced rare-earth free phosphors for the highly sensitive and selective imaging of latent fingerprints based on enhanced hydrophobic interaction显示文摘The demand for in-situ detection of latent fingerprints(LFPs)in ways of high sensitivity, high selectivity, high contrast, low cost and user-friendly is still urgent. To overcome this challenge,a moisture-stable,red-emitting fluoride phosphor K_(3)AlF_(6):Mn^(4+)(KAF:Mn^(4+))with an organic hydrophobic skin was prepared. The phosphor has a uniform and superfine morphology with excellent luminescence properties.More importantly, this non-ultraviolet(UV)or non-near infrared(NIR)induced phosphor was proved to be an ideal fluorescent label for LFP imaging, which is both friendly for touch DNA analysis and compatible to forensic light sources. The well-defined ridge details with little background interference on various surfaces were presented by the oleic acid(OA)modified KAF:Mn^(4+)(KAF:Mn^(4+)-OA)phosphor in few seconds using the powder dusting method. To confirm the high selectivity of KAF:Mn^(4+)-OA for LFP imaging,an efficient quantitative evaluation method is proposed with the aid of ImageJ&Origin software.Due to the superiority of the Mn^(4+)-doped fluoride for the rapid imaging of LFPs in terms of lowcost, high compatibility and good availability,it is expected to be a promising candidate for forensic science as well as fluorescence imaging in other fields instead of rare earth luminescent materials.Di Peng Shengan He Yuyan Zhang Liqin Yao Wendong Nie Zhijian Liao Wenting Cai Xinyu Ye 2022Journal of Materiomics2022,8,1:2
Effects of pituitary-specific overexpression of FSHα/β on reproductive traits in transgenic boars显示文摘Background: Follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH) is a gonadotropin synthesized and secreted by the pituitary gland.FSH stimulates follicle development and maturation in females. It also plays an important role in spermatogenesis in males, including humans and mice. However, the effects of FSH on male pigs are largely unknown. In this study,we generated transgenic pigs to investigate the effects of FSHα/β overexpression on reproductive traits in boars. Results: After five transgenic F_0 founders were crossed with wide-type pigs, 193 F_1 animals were obtained. Of these,96 were confirmed as transgenic. FSHα and FSHβ m RNAs were detected only in pituitary tissue. Transgenic boars exhibited significantly higher levels of FSHα and FSHβ m RNA, serum FSH, and serum testosterone, compared to ful-sib non-transgenic boars. Significant increases in testis weight, vas deferens diameter, seminiferous tubule diameter, and the number of Leydig cel s were observed, suggesting that the exogenous FSHα/β affects reproductive traits. Final y,transgenic and non-transgenic boars had similar growth performance and biochemical profiles. Conclusions: Pituitary-specific overexpression of FSHα/β genes is likely to impact reproductive traits positively, as indicated by enhancements in serum testosterone level, testis weight, the development of vas deferens, seminiferous tubules, and Leydig cells in transgenic boars. A high level of serum FSH induces secretion of serum testosterone, possibly by boosting the number of Leydig cells, which presumably increases the libido and the frequency of sexual activity in transgenic boars. Our study provides a preliminary foundation for the genetic improvement of reproductive traits in male pigs.Wenting Li Yujun Quan Mengmeng Zhang Kejun Wang Muzhen Zhu Ye Chen Qiuyan Li Keliang Wu 2018Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2018,9,1:1

Optical Molecular Imaging Frontiers in Oncology: The Pursuit of Accuracy and Sensitivity显示文摘Cutting-edge technologies in optical molecular imaging have ushered in new frontiers in cancer research, clinical translation, and medical practice, as evidenced by recent advances in optical multimodality imaging, Cerenkov luminescence imaging(CLI), and optical imageguided surgeries. New abilities allow in vivo cancer imaging with sensitivity and accuracy that are unprecedented in conventional imaging approaches. The visualization of cellular and molecular behaviors and events within tumors in living subjects is improving our deeper understanding of tumors at a systems level. These advances are being rapidly used to acquire tumor-to-tumor molecular heterogeneity, both dynamically and quantitatively, as well as to achieve more effective therapeutic interventions with the assistance of real-time imaging. In the era of molecular imaging, optical technologies hold great promise to facilitate the development of highly sensitive cancer diagnoses as well as personalized patient treatment—one of the ultimate goals of precision medicine.Kun Wang Chongwei Chi Zhenhua Hu Muhan Liu Hui Hui Wenting Shang Dong Peng Shuang Zhang Jiezuo Ye Haixiao Liu Jie Tian 2015Engineering2015,1,3:1

Design and characterization of metallic glass/graphene multilayer with excellent nanowear properties显示文摘The excellent properties of metallic glass(MG)films make them perfect candidates for the use in miniature systems and tools. However, their high coefficients of friction(COFs)and poor wear resistance considerably limit their long-term performance in nanoscale contact. We report the fabrication of a MG/graphene multilayer by the repeated deposition of Cu_(50)Zr_(50) MG with alternating layers of graphene. The microstructure of the multilayer was characterized by the transmission electron microscopy(TEM).Its mechanical and nanotribological properties were studied by nanoindentation and nanoscratch tests, respectively.A molecular dynamics(MD)simulation revealed that the addition of graphene endowed the MG with superelastic recovery, which reduced friction during nanoscratching. In comparison with the monolithic MG film, the multilayer exhibited improved wear resistance and a low COF in repeated nanowear tests owing to the enhanced mechanical properties and lubricating effect caused by the graphene layer. This work is expected to motivate the design of other novel MG films with excellent nanowear properties for engineering applications.Qing ZHOU Dawei LUO Dongpeng HUA Wenting YE Shuo LI Qiguang ZOU Ziqiang CHEN Haifeng WANG 2022Friction2022,10,11:1

Bootstrap Inference on the Variance Component Functions in the Two-Way Random Effects Model with Interaction显示文摘In this paper, using the Bootstrap approach and generalized approach, the authors consider the one-sided hypothesis testing problems for variance component functions in the two-way random effects model.Firstly, the test statistics and confidence intervals for the sum of variance components are constructed.Next, the one-sided hypothesis testing problems for the ratio of variance components are also discussed. The Monte Carlo simulation results indicate that the Bootstrap approach is better than the generalized approach in most cases. Finally, the above approaches are applied to the real data examples of mice blood p H and molded plastic part’s dimensions.YE Rendao GE Wenting LUO Kun 2021Journal of Systems Science & Complexity2021,34,2:0
Monolithic integration of nanorod arrays on microfluidic chips for fast and sensitive one-step immunoassays显示文摘Here,we present integrated nanorod arrays on microfluidic chips for fast and sensitive flow-through immunoassays of physiologically relevant macromolecules.Dense arrays of Au nanorods are easily fabricated through one-step oblique angle deposition, which eliminates the requirement of advanced lithography methods. We report the utility of this plasmonic structure to improve the detection limit of the cardiac troponin I(cTnI)assay by over 6x 105-fold,reaching down to 33.9fg mL^(-1)(-1.4fM) compared with an identical assay on glass substrates.Through monolithic integration with microfluidic elements, the device enables a flow-through assay for quantitative detection of cTnI in the serum with a detection sensitivity of 6.9 pg mL^(-1)(-0.3 pM)in<6 min, which was 4000 times lower than conventional glass devices. This ultrasensitive detection arises from the large surface area for antibody conjugation and metal-enhanced fluorescent signals through plasmonic nanostructures. Moreover, due to the parallel arrangement of flow paths, simultaneous detection of multiple cancer biomarkers, including prostate-specific antigen and carcinoembryonic antigen, has been fulfilled with increased signal-to-background ratios.Given the high performance of this assay, together with its simple fabrication process that is compatible with standard mass manufacturing techniques,we expect that the prepared integrated nanorod device can bring on-site point-of-care diagnosis closer to reality.Ye Wang Jiongdong Zhao Yu Zhu Shurong Dong Yang Liu Yijun Sun Liling Qian Wenting Yang Zhen Cao 2021Microsystems & Nanoengineering2021,7,4:0
Spatial Distribution of Parvalbumin-Positive Fibers in the Mouse Brain and Their Alterations in Mouse Models of Temporal Lobe Epilepsy and Parkinson’s Disease显示文摘Parvalbumin interneurons belong to the major types of GABAergic interneurons.Although the distribution and pathological alterations of parvalbumin interneuron somata have been widely studied, the distribution and vulnerability of the neurites and fibers extending from parvalbumin interneurons have not been detailly interrogated.Through the Cre recombinase-reporter system,we visualized parvalbumin-positive fibers and thoroughly investigated their spatial distribution in the mouse brain. We found that parvalbumin fibers are widely distributed in the brain with specific morphological characteristics in different regions, among which the cortex and thalamus exhibited the most intense parvalbumin signals. In regions such as the striatum and optic tract, even long-range thick parvalbumin projections were detected.Furthermore,in mouse models of temporal lobe epilepsy and Parkinson’s disease, parvalbumin fibers suffered both massive and subtle morphological alterations. Our study provides an overview of parvalbumin fibers in the brain and emphasizes the potential pathological implications of parvalbumin fiber alterations.Changgeng Song Yan Zhao Jiajia Zhang Ziyi Dong Xin Kang Yuqi Pan Jinle Du Yiting Gao Haifeng Zhang Ye Xi Hui Ding Fang Kuang Wenting Wang Ceng Luo Zhengping Zhang Qinpeng Zhao Jiazhou Yang Wen Jiang Shengxi Wu Fang Gao 2023Neuroscience Bulletin2023,39,11:0

Functionalization of in vivo tissue-engineered living biotubes enhance patency and endothelization without the requirement of systemic anticoagulant administration显示文摘Vascular regeneration and patency maintenance, without anticoagulant administration, represent key developmental trends to enhance small-diameter vascular grafts(SDVG)performance. In vivo engineered autologous biotubes have emerged as SDVG candidates with pro-regenerative properties. However, mechanical failure coupled with thrombus formation hinder translational prospects of biotubes as SDVGs.Previously fabricated poly(ε-caprolactone)skeleton-reinforced biotubes(PBs)circumvented mechanical issues and achieved vascular regeneration, but orally administered anticoagulants were required. Here, highly efficient and biocompatible functional modifications were introduced to living cells on PB lumens. The 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-N-methoxy(DMPE)-PEG-conjugated anti-coagulant bivalirudin(DPB)and DMPE-PEG-conjugated endothelial progenitor cell(EPC)-binding TPS-peptide(DPT)modifications possessed functionality conducive to promoting vascular graft patency.Co-modification of DPB and DPT swiftly attained luminal saturation without influencing cell viability.DPB repellent of non-specific proteins,DPB inhibition of thrombus formation, and DPB protection against functional masking of DPT’s EPC-capture by blood components, which promoted patency and rapid endothelialization in rat and canine artery implantation models without anticoagulant administration. This strategy offers a safe, facile, and fast technical approach to convey additional functionalization to living cells within tissue-engineered constructs.Hongyu Yan Quhan Cheng Jianghua Si Songdi Wang Ye Wan Xin Kong Ting Wang Wenting Zheng Muhammad Rafique Xiaofeng Li Ju He Adam C.Midgley Yi Zhu Kai Wang 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,8:0
