1Arabidopsis C3HC4-RING finger E3 ubiquitin ligase At AIRP4 positively regulates stress-responsive abscisic acid signaling显示文摘Degradation of proteins via the ubiquitin system is an important step in many stress signaling pathways in plants.E3 ligases recognize ligand proteins and dictate the high specificity of protein degradation, and thus, play a pivotal role in ubiquitination. Here, we identified a gene, named Arabidopsis thaliana abscisic acid(ABA)-insensitive RING protein 4(At AIRP4), which is induced by ABA and other stress treatments. At AIRP4 encodes a cellular protein with a C3HC4-RING finger domain in its C-terminal side, which has in vitro E3 ligase activity. Loss of At AIRP4 leads to a decrease in sensitivity of root elongation and stomatal closure to ABA, whereas overexpression of this gene in the T-DNA insertion mutant atairp4 effectively recovered the ABA-associated phenotypes. At AIRP4 overexpression plants were hypersensitive to salt and osmotic stresses during seed germination, and showed drought avoidance compared with the wild-type and atairp4 mutant plants. In addition, the expression levels of ABA- and droughtinduced marker genes in At AIRP4 overexpression plants were markedly higher than those in the wild-type and atairp4 mutant plants. 3A novel anticancer property of Lycium barbarum polysaccharide in triggering ferroptosis of breast cancer cells显示文摘Breast cancer is one of the most malignant tumors and is associated with high mortality rates among women.Lycium barbarum polysaccharide(LBP)is an extract from the fruits of the traditional Chinese herb,L.barbarum.LBP is a promising anticancer drug,due to its high activity and low toxicity.Although it has anticancer properties,its mechanisms of action have not been fully established.Ferroptosis,which is a novel anticancer strategy,is a cell death mechanism that relies on iron-dependent lipid reactive oxygen species(ROS)accumulation.In this study,human breast cancer cells(Michigan Cancer Foundation-7(MCF-7)and MD Anderson-Metastatic Breast-231(MDA-MB-231))were treated with LBP.LBP inhibited their viability and proliferation in association with high levels of ferroptosis.Therefore,we aimed to ascertain whether LBP reduced cell viability through ferroptosis.We found that the structure and function of mitochondria,lipid peroxidation,and expression of solute carrier family 7 member 11(SLC7 A11,also known as x CT,the light-chain subunit of cystine/glutamate antiporter system X_(c)^(-))and glutathione peroxidase 4(GPX4)were altered by LBP.Moreover,the ferroptosis inhibitor,Ferrostatin-1(Fer-1),rescued LBP-induced ferroptosis-associated events including reduced cell viability and glutathione(GSH)production,accumulation of intracellular free divalent iron ions and malondialdehyde(MDA),and down-regulation of the expression of x CT and GPX4.Erastin(x CT inhibitor)and RSL3(GPX4 inhibitor)inhibited the expression of x CT and GPX4,respectively,which was lower after the co-treatment of LBP with Erastin and RSL3.These results suggest that LBP effectively prevents breast cancer cell proliferation and promotes ferroptosis via the x CT/GPX4 pathway.Therefore,LBP exhibits novel anticancer properties by triggering ferroptosis,and may be a potential therapeutic option for breast cancer.Xing DU Jingjing ZHANG Ling LIU Bo XU Hang HAN Wenjie DAI Xiuying PEI Xufeng FU Shaozhang HOU 2022Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2022,23,4:10
4A new algorithm of retrieving a petroleum substances absorption coefficient in sea water based on a remote sensing image显示文摘Establishing the remote sensing algorithm of retrieving the absorption coefficient of seawater petroleum substances is an efficient way to improve the accuracy of retrieving a seawater petroleum concentration using a remote sensing technology. A remote sensing reflectance is a basic physical parameter in water color remote sensing. Apply it to directly retrieve the absorption coefficient of seawater petroleum substances is of potential advantage. The absorption coefficient of waters containing petroleum [ACWCP, a_o(λ)], consists of the absorption coefficient of pure water [ACPW, a_w(λ)], plankton [ACP, a_(ph)(λ)], colored scraps [ACCS, a_(d,g)(λ)], and petroleum substance [ACPS, a_(oil)(λ)]. Among those, ACCS consists of the absorption coefficient of nonalgal particle [ACNP, a_d(λ)] and colored dissolved organic matter [ACCDOM, a_g(λ)]. For waters containing petroleum, the retrieved ACCS using the existing method is a combination absorption coefficient of ACNP,ACCDOM and ACPA [CAC, a_(d,g,oil)(λ)]. Therefore, the principle question is how to extract ACPS from CAC.Through the analysis of the three proportion tests conducted between the year of 2013 and 2015 and the corresponding remote sensing data, an algorithm of retrieving the absorption coefficient of petroleum substances is proposed based on remote sensing reflectance. First of all, ACPS and CAC are retrieved from the reflectance using the quasi-analytical algorithm(QAA), with some parameter modified. Secondly, given the fact that the backscatter coefficient [BC, b_(bp)(555)] of total particles at 555 nm can be obtained completely from the reflectance, the relation between BC and ACNP in petroleum contaminated water can be established. As a result, ACNP can be calculated. Then, combining the remote sensing retrieving algorithm of a_g(440), the method of achieving the spectral slope of the absorption coefficient can be established, from which ACCDOM,can be calculated. Finally, ACPS can be computed as the residual. 5Impact of agricultural residual plastic film on the growth and yield of drip-irrigated cotton in arid region of Xinjiang, China显示文摘Long-term and widespread use of plastic mulching has led to the accumulation of residual plastic film(RPF)in farmland soils of Xinjiang,China.However,there is no specific quantitative basis for RPF pollution or a clear understanding of the influence of residual film on crop growth.The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of RPF on the growth of cotton,an important cash crop of Xinjiang.Based on the field conditions and previous reports,various amount of residual film was applied in 0-30 cm soil layer.The growth index including emergence rate,dry matter,and yield of cotton was examined at different growth stages under different soil residual film levels.Results demonstrated a significant effect of RPF on soil moisture distribution and movement.Plastic residues had a significant effect on cotton growth at levels above 200 kg/hm2,and the yield decreased as the RPF amount increased.Based on these findings,200 kg/hm2 was suggested as a threshold level to determine the effects of RPF on cotton.This study provided a basis to rate RPF pollution in farmland soils and help understand the impact of pollution on crop productivity.Can Hu Xufeng Wang Shiguo Wang Bing Lu Wensong Guo Chaoji Liu Xiuying Tang 2020International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2020,13,1:5
6Target classification using SIFT sequence scale invariants显示文摘On the basis of scale invariant feature transform(SIFT) descriptors,a novel kind of local invariants based on SIFT sequence scale(SIFT-SS) is proposed and applied to target classification.First of all,the merits of using an SIFT algorithm for target classification are discussed.Secondly,the scales of SIFT descriptors are sorted by descending as SIFT-SS,which is sent to a support vector machine(SVM) with radial based function(RBF) kernel in order to train SVM classifier,which will be used for achieving target classification.Experimental results indicate that the SIFT-SS algorithm is efficient for target classification and can obtain a higher recognition rate than affine moment invariants(AMI) and multi-scale auto-convolution(MSA) in some complex situations,such as the situation with the existence of noises and occlusions.Moreover,the computational time of SIFT-SS is shorter than MSA and longer than AMI.Xufeng Zhu Caiwen Ma Bo Liu Xiaoqian Cao 2012Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2012,23,5:5
7Ultra-high-Q resonances in terahertz all-silicon metasurfaces based on bound states in the continuum显示文摘High-Q metasurfaces have important applications in high-sensitivity sensing,low-threshold lasers,and nonlinear optics due to the strong local electromagnetic field enhancements.Although ultra-high-Q resonances of bound states in the continuum(BIC)metasurfaces have been rapidly developed in the optical regime,it is still a challenging task in the terahertz band for long years because of absorption loss of dielectric materials,design,and fabrication of nanostructures,and the need for high-signal-to-noise ratio and high-resolution spectral measurements.Here,a polarization-insensitive quasi-BIC resonance with a high-Q factor of 1049 in a terahertz all-silicon metasurface is experimentally achieved,exceeding the current highest record by 3 times of magnitude.And by using this ultra-high-Q metasurface,a terahertz intensity modulation with very low optical pump power is demonstrated.The proposed all-silicon metasurface can pave the way for the research and development of high-Q terahertz metasurfaces.PENGFEI WANG FENGYAN HE JIANJUN LIU FANGZHOU SHU BIN FANG TINGTING LANG XUFENG JING ZHI HONG 2022Photonics Research2022,10,12:4
8Abscisic acid receptors maintain abscisic acid homeostasis by modulating UGT71C5 glycosylation activity显示文摘Uridine diphosphate-glucosyltransferases(UGTs)maintain abscisic acid(ABA)homeostasis in Arabidopsis thaliana by converting ABA to abscisic acid-glucose ester(ABA-GE).UGT71C5 plays an important role in the generation of ABA-GE.Abscisic acid receptors are crucial upstream components of the ABA signaling pathway,but how UGTs and ABA receptors function together to modulate ABA levels is unknown.Here,we demonstrated that the ABA receptors RCAR12/13 and UGT71 C5 maintain ABA homeostasis in Arabidopsis following rehydration under drought stress.Biochemical analyses show that UGT71C5 directly interacted with RCAR8/12/13 in yeast cells,and the interactions between UGT-71C5 and RCAR12/13 were enhanced by ABA treatment.Enzyme activity analysis showed that ABA-GE contents were significantly elevated in the presence of RCAR12 or RCAR13,suggesting that these ABA receptors enhance the activity of UGT71C5.Determination of the content of ABA and ABA-GE in Arabidopsis following rehydration under drought stress revealed that ABA-GE contents were significantly higher in Arabidopsis plants overexpressing RCAR12 and RCAR13 than in nontransformed plants and plants overexpressing RCAR11 following rehydration under drought stress.These observations suggest that RCAR12 and RCAR13 enhance the activity of UGT71C5 to glycosylate excess ABA into ABA-GE following rehydration under drought stress,representing a rapid mechanism for regulating plant growth and development.Yanlin Ma Jing Cao Qiaoqiao Chen Jiahan He Zhibin Liu Jianmei Wang Xufeng Li Yi Yang 2021Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2021,63,3:3

12QTL-seq identifies major quantitative trait loci of stigma color in melon显示文摘Stigma color plays an important role in pollination.In nature,melon(Cucumis melo L.)stigmas are either yellow or green;however,a review of the literature found no report on how stigma color affects pollination and fruit development in melon.Here,we used an F_(2)melon population derived from a cross between‘MR-1’(P_(1),with green stigmas)and‘M1–32’(P_(2),with yellow stigmas),and performed genetic analysis and mapping.The results of bulked segregant analysis allowed the identification of genetic loci controlling stigma color on chromosomes 6 and 8.An F2 population consisting of 150 individuals was used for initial mapping.A genetic map of 304.17 cM was constructed using 37 cleaved amplified polymorphism sequence(CAPS)markers.We identified one major quantitative trait locus(QTL)and one minor QTL for stigma color.The major QTL GS8.1 was further mapped to a 4.13 cM interval between CAPS markers 8C-10 and 8C-16,which explained 27.04%of the phenotypic variation.In addition,GS6.1 was mapped between E-49 and 6A-7,explaining 18.6%of the phenotypic variation.This study provides a theoretical basis for the fine mapping and cloning of melon genes controlling stigma color.Aohan Qiao Xufeng Fang Shi Liu Hongyu Liu Peng Gao Feishi Luan 2021Horticultural Plant Journal2021,7,4:2
13Resonant transparency of a planar anapole metamaterial at terahertz frequencies显示文摘Anapole metamaterials have attracted growing attention in recent years due to their unique nonradiating and nontrivial properties. Although anapole modes have been demonstrated in metamaterials with threedimensional structures, the design and realization of planar anapole metamaterials in a wide frequency range is still a big challenge. Here we propose and experimentally demonstrate a planar anapole metamaterial consisting of dumbbell-shaped apertures on a stainless-steel sheet at terahertz frequencies. The planar metamaterial can generate a resonant transparency in the terahertz spectrum due to the excitation of the anapole mode.Particularly, the frequency of anapole-induced resonant transparency can be tuned easily in the range of 0.15–0.93 THz by simply varying one geometric parameter of the dumbbell apertures. 14Preparation and properties of hollow fibre nanofiltration membrane with continuous coffee-ring structure显示文摘Polyamide(PA)hollow fibre composite nanofiltration(NF)membranes with a coffee-ring structure and beneficial properties were prepared by adding graphene oxide(GO)into the interfacial polymerization process.The presentation of the coffee-ring structure was attributed to the heterogeneous,finely dispersed multiphase reaction system and the“coffee-stain”effect of the GO solution.When the piperazine concentration was 0.4 wt-%,the trimesoyl chloride concentration was 0.3 wt-%,and the GO concentration was 0.025 wt-%,the prepared NF membranes showed the best separation properties.The permeate flux was 76 L·m^(−2)·h^(−1),and the rejection rate for MgSO4 was 98.6%at 0.4 MPa.Scanning electron microscopy,atomic force microscopy,and attenuated total reflectance-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy were used to characterize the chemical structure and morphology of the PA/GO NF membrane.The results showed that GO was successfully entrapped into the PA functional layer.Under neutral operating conditions,the PA/GO membrane showed typical negatively charged NF membrane separation characteristics,and the rejection rate decreased in the order of Na2SO_(4)>MgSO_(4)>MgCl_(2)>NaCl.The PA/GO NF membrane showed better antifouling performance than the PA membrane.Xiuzhen Wei Xufeng Xu Yi Chen Qian Zhang Lu Liu Ruiyuan Yang Jinyuan Chen Bosheng Lv 2021Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2021,15,2:2

16Nano-channel-based physical and chemical synergic regulation for dendrite-free lithium plating显示文摘Uncontrollable dendrite growth resulting from the non-uniform lithium ion(Li^(+))flux and volume expansion in lithium metal(Li)negative electrode leads to rapid performance degradation and serious safety problems of lithium metal batteries.Although N-containing functional groups in carbon materials are reported to be effective to homogenize the Li^(+)flux,the effective interaction distance between lithium ions and N-containing groups should be relatively small(down to nanometer scale)according to the Debye length law.Thus,it is necessary to carefully design the microstructure of N-containing carbon materials to make the most of their roles in regulating the Li^(+)flux.In this work,porous carbon nitride microspheres(PCNMs)with abundant nanopores have been synthesized and utilized to fabricate a uniform lithiophilic coating layer having hybrid pores of both the nano-and micrometer scales on the Cu/Li foil.Physically,the three-dimensional(3D)porous framework is favorable for absorbing volume changes and guiding Li growth.Chemically,this coating layer can render a suitable interaction distance to effectively homogenize the Li^(+)flux and contribute to establishing a robust and stable solid electrolyte interphase(SEI)layer with Li-F,Li-N,and Li-O-rich contents based on the Debye length law.Such a physical-chemical synergic regulation strategy using PCNMs can lead to dendrite-free Li plating,resulting in a low nucleation overpotential and stable Li plating/stripping cycling performance in both the Li||Cu and the Li||Li symmetric cells.Meanwhile,a full cell using the PCNM coated Li foil negative electrode and a LiFePO4 positive electrode has delivered a high capacity retention of~80%after more than 200 cycles at 1 C and achieved a remarkable rate capability.The pouch cell fabricated by pairing the PCNM coated Li foil negative electrode with a NCM 811 positive electrode has retained~73%of the initial capacity after 150 cycles at 0.2 C.Qiang Guo Wei Deng Shengjie Xia Zibo Zhang Fei Zhao Binjie Hu Sasa Zhang Xufeng Zhou George Zheng Chen Zhaoping Liu 2021Nano Research2021,14,10:1
17Mechanical Behavior of Light Trusses Made of Poplar Laminated Veneer Lumber and Connected with Bolts and Tooth Plates显示文摘Poplar Laminated Veneer Lumber(Poplar LVL)is a new type of engineering materials with high strength,good reliability and small variability.Poplar LVL is manufactured from the fast-growing poplar,which is widely used in packaging,furniture and others,however,is rarely adopted in construction.In order to explore the feasibility of poplar LVL trusses in construction of roof,four 4.5-m-span Fink-and-Howe trusses were designed and assembled,which were made of poplar LVL with bolted-and tooth-plated connections.Vertical static loading on the upper chord joints of a truss was imposed by self-balancing test device.The mechanical properties of trusses were examined.The ultimate load,deformation character and failure mode of each truss were measured,observed and analyzed.Furthermore,four types of analytical models with different joint connection assumptions were used to estimate the ultimate load and deflection.The results showed that the poplar LVL trusses were basically in elastic stage before the design load was reached,showing good working performance under the action of design load.The bearing capacity of the trusses of bolted connections was greater than that of the tooth-plated connections.As for the same joint connection type,the bearing capacity of Fink trusses exceeded that of Howe trusses.The poplar LVL light trusses of both types of connections showed good structural performance,which could be reasonably used for building roof systems.Yan Liu Yanfei Guo Xufeng Sun Meng Gong 2020Journal of Renewable Materials2020,8,9:1
