Effect of a Traditional Chinese Medicine combined therapy on adolescent idiopathic scoliosis:a randomized controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effectiveness of a combined Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) therapy versus conventional treatment on adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.METHODS:One hundred twenty outpatients with mild and moderate adolescent idiopathic scoliosis were randomly divided into a TCM group(TCMG)and a brace group(CG).TCMG patients underwent Daoyin,Tuina, and acupotomology therapies.CG patients were treated with a Milwaukee brace. Each patient's Cobb angle was measured after 12 and 24 months of treatment, and pulmonary function was determined after 12 months of treatment.Average electromyogram(AEMG) ratio of the surface electromyogram was measured after 6 and 12 months of treatment and followed-up after 18 and 24 months.RESULTS:The Cobb angle significantly decreased in both groups after 12 months of treatment compared with before treatment(P< 0.05).The percentages of original Cobb angle in TCMG and CG were51.4%and 47.8%(P > 0.05) after 12 months and62.5%and 34.7%(P < 0.05) after 24 months, respectively.Pulmonary function significantly improved after 12 months in TCMG(P < 0.05) but significantly decreased in CG(P < 0.05).The AEMG ratio was significantly lower(P < 0.01) and tended to remain at1 after stopping treatment in TCMG,but increased in CG(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:TCM combined therapy can prevent the progression of scoliosis. The AEMG ratio is a promising index that could replace radiography in the evaluation of treatment effect and progression in scoliosis. | Wei Hui Xu Jinyuan Jiang Zhong Ye Shuliang Song Hongquan Ning Xitao Huang Huanmin Chen Wei Pei Jianwei Jiang Nengyi Chen Shao Du Honggen | 2015 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2015,35,5: | 9
Design System of the Two-step Gear Reducer on Case-based Reasoning显示文摘The design of the two-step gear reducer is a tedious and time-consuming process. For the purpose of improving the efficiency and intelligence of design process,case-based reasoning(CBR) technology was applied to the design of the two-step gear reducer.Firstly, the current design method for the two-step gear reducer was analyzed and the principle of CBR was described.Secondly, according to the characteristics of the reducer, three key technologies of CBR were studied and the corresponding methods were provided, which are as follows:(a) an object-oriented knowledge representation method,(b) a retrieval method combining the nearest neighbor with the induction indexing, and(c) a case adaptation algorithm combining the revision based on rule with artificial revision. Also, for the purpose of improving the credibility of case retrieval,a new method for determining the weights of characteristics and a similarity formula were presented, which is a combinatorial weighting method with the analytic hierarchy process(AHP) and roughness set theory.Lastly, according to the above analytic results,a design system of the two-step gear reducer on CBR was developed by VC++,UG and Access 2003.A new method for the design of the two-step gear reducer is provided in this study. If the foregoing developed system is applied to design the two-step gear reducer, design efficiency is improved, which enables the designer to release from the tedious design process of the gear reducer so as to put more efforts on innovative design. The study result fully reflects the feasibility and validity of CBR technology in the process of the design of the mechanical parts. | JI Aimin HUANG Quansheng XU Huanmin CHEN Zhengming | 2009 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2009,22,5: | 6
Methyl 3,4-dihydroxybenzoate promotes neurite outgrowth of cortical neurons cultured in vitro显示文摘Cerebral cortical neurons from neonatal rats were cultured in the presence of methyl 3,4-dihydroxybenzoate (MDHB;2,4,and 8 μM).Results showed that MDHB significantly promoted neurite outgrowth and microtubule-associated protein 2 mRNA expression, and increased neuronal survival in a dose-dependent manner. Moreover,MDHB induced brain-derived neurotrophic factor expression. These findings suggest that MDHB has a neurotrophic effect, which may be due to its ability to increase brain-derived neurotrophic factor expression. | Zheng Zhang Xing Zhou Xiaowen Zhou Xiao Xu Minjing Liao Li Yan Ruohua Lv Huanmin Luo | 2012 | Neural Regeneration Research2012,7,13: | 2
Integrated metabolism and epigenetic modifications in the macrophages of mice in responses to cold stress显示文摘The negative effects of low temperature can readily induce a variety of diseases. We sought to understand the reasons why cold stress induces disease by studying the mechanisms of fine-tuning in macrophages following cold exposure. We found that cold stress triggers increased macrophage activation accompanied by metabolic reprogramming of aerobic glycolysis. The discovery,by genome-wide RNA sequencing,of defective mitochondria in mice macrophages following cold exposure indicated that mitochondrial defects may contribute to this process. In addition, changes in metabolism drive the differentiation of macrophages by affecting histone modifications. Finally,we showed that histone acetylation and lactylation are modulators of macrophage differentiation following cold exposure.Collectively,metabolism-related epigenetic modifications are essential for the differentiation of macrophages in cold-stressed mice, and the regulation of metabolism may be crucial for alleviating the harm induced by cold stress. | Jingjing LU Shoupeng FU Jie DAI Jianwen HU Shize LI Hong JI Zhiquan WANG Jiahong YU Jiming BAO Bin XU Jingru GUO Huanmin YANG | 2022 | Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2022,23,6: | 0
Genetic assessment of inbred chicken lines indicates genomic signatures of resistance to Marek's disease显示文摘Background: Marek's disease(MD) is a highly contagious pathogenic and oncogenic disease primarily affecting chickens. However, the mechanisms of genetic resistance for MD are complex and not fully understood. MD-resistant line 6_3 and MD-susceptible line 7_2 are two highly inbred progenitor lines of White Leghorn. Recombinant Congenic Strains(RCS) were developed from these two lines, which show varied susceptibility to MD.Results: We investigated genetic structure and genomic signatures across the genome, including the line 6_3 and line7_2, six RCSs, and two reciprocally crossed flocks between the lines 6_3 and 7_2(F1 6_3× 7_2 and F1 7_2× 6_3) using Affymetrix~? Axiom~? HD 600 K genotyping array. We observed 18 chickens from RCS lines were specifically clustered into resistance sub-groups distributed around line 6_3. Additionally, homozygosity analysis was employed to explore potential genetic components related to MD resistance, while runs of homozygosity(ROH) are regions of the genome where the identical haplotypes are inherited from each parent. We found several genes including SIK, SOX1, LIG4, SIK1 and TNFSF13B were contained in ROH region identified in resistant group(line 6_3 and RCS), and these genes have been reported that are contribute to immunology and survival. Based on F_(ST) based population differential analysis, we also identified important genes related to cell death and anti-apoptosis, including AKT1, API5, CDH13, CFDP and USP15,which could be involved in divergent selection during inbreeding process. Conclusions: Our findings offer valuable insights for understanding the genetic mechanism of resistance to MD and the identified genes could be considered as candidate biomarkers in further evaluation. | Lingyang Xu Yanghua He Yi Ding George E.Liu Huanmin Zhang Hans H.Cheng Robert L.Taylor Jr. Jiuzhou Song | 2018 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2018,9,4: | 0
