22018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents显示文摘Syncope belongs to the transient loss of consciousness(TLOC), characterized by a rapid onset, short duration, and spontaneous complete recovery. It is common in children and adolescents, accounting for 1% to 2% of emergency department visits.Recurrent syncope can seriously affect children's physical and mental health, learning ability and quality of life and sometimes cardiac syncope even poses a risk of sudden death. The present guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was developed for guiding a better clinical management of pediatric syncope. Based on the globally recent development and the evidence-based data in China, 2018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was jointly prepared by the Pediatric Cardiology Society, Chinese Pediatric Society, Chinese Medical Association(CMA)/Committee on Pediatric Syncope, Pediatricians Branch, Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA)/Committee on Pediatric Cardiology, Chinese College of Cardiovascular Physicians, Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA)/Pediatric Cardiology Society, Beijing Pediatric Society, Beijing Medical Association(BMA). 3Behaviors and kinetics of toluene adsorption-desorption on activated carbons with varying pore structure显示文摘This work was undertaken to investigate the behaviors and kinetics of toluene adsorption and desorption on activated carbons with varying pore structure. Five kinds of activated carbon from different raw materials were selected. Adsorption isotherms and breakthrough curves for toluene were measured. Langmuir and Freundlich equations were fitted to the equilibrium data, and the Freundlich equation was more suitable for simulating toluene adsorption. The process consisted of monolayer, multilayer and partial active site adsorption types. The effect of the pore structure of the activated carbons on toluene adsorption capacity was investigated. The quasi-first-order model was more suitable for describing the process than the quasi-second-order model. The adsorption data was also modeled by the internal particle diffusion model and it was found that the adsorption process could be divided into three stages. In the external surface adsorption process, the rate depended on the specific surface area. During the particle diffusion stage, pore structure and volume were the main factors affecting adsorption rate. In the final equilibrium stage, the rate was determined by the ratio of meso-and macro-pores to total pore volume. The rate over the whole adsorption process was dominated by the toluene concentration. The desorption behavior of toluene on activated carbons was investigated,and the process was divided into heat and mass transfer parts corresponding to emission and diffusion mechanisms, respectively. 4Northernmost paleo-tethyan oceanic basin in Tibet:Geo-chronological evidence from ^(40)Ar/^(39)Ar age dating of Dur'ngoi ophiolite显示文摘Whole rock 40Ar/39Ar age dating has been conducted on a basalt sample from Dur’ngoi ophiolite, Qinghai Province, which was reported to be the northernmost pa-leo-tethyan oceanic basin in Tibet. 5A new scoring system for assessment of liver function after successful hepatectomy in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘BACKGROUND:Whether a major liver resection is safe has been judged mainly from the patient's hepatic reserve.However,a safe limit for liver resection does not exist yet.This study aimed to construct a new scoring system as a guide to determine a safe limit for liver resection and avoid liver dysfunction after hepatectomy.METHODS:Eighty-six patients with hepatocellular carcinoma who had undergone hepatectomy in West China Hospital from March 2007 to June 2010 were reviewed.The patients were classified according to the levels of total bilirubin after hepatectomy and the parameters in the perioperative period were compared.Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis was made to assess the liver function compensatory (LFC) value to predict liver dysfunction of the patients after hepatectomy.LFC value is defined as the preoperative KICG value×22.487+standard remnant liver volume (SRLV)×0.020.RESULTS:Patients were classified into group Ⅰ (normal group,n=69) and group Ⅱ (with total bilirubin >85.5 μmol/L for 7 days after hepatectomy,n=17) based on the levels of total bilirubin after hepatectomy.Group II was further divided into two subgroups:recovered subgroup (n=14) and fatal subgroup (n=3).There were no significant differences in preoperative data or intraoperative findings except the indocyanine green test parameters (KICG and ICG R15) and SRLV.ROC analysis showed that the sensitivity and specificity of an LFC value ≤13.01 were 94.1% and 82.6% respectively for predicting liver dysfunction of the patients after hepatectomy.CONCLUSIONS:The LFC value appears to be a good predictor of postoperative liver dysfunction in patients who undergo hepatectomy for HCC.An expected LFC value of 13.01 seems to be a safe limit for liver resection.Zheng-Gui Du,Bo Li,Yong-Gang Wei,Jie Yin,Xi Feng and Xi Chen Department of Liver and Vascular Surgery,West China Hospital,Sichuan University,Chengdu 610041,China 2011Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2011,10,3:23
6FAT10 level in human gastric cancer and its relation with mutant p53 level,lymph node metastasis and TNM staging显示文摘AIM:To investigate the role of FAT10 and mutant p53 in the pathogenesis,severity and prognosis of gastric cancer.METHODS:FAT10,mutant p53 mRNA and protein levels were measured by reverse transcription(RT)-PCR and immunohistochemistry in gastric cancer tissue(n = 62),tumoradjacent tissue(n = 62) and normal gastric tissue(n = 62).Relation of FAT10 and mutant p53 expression with clinicopathological features and clinical outcomes of gastric cancer patients were analyzed.RESULTS:The FAT10,mutant p53 mRNA and protein levels were signif icantly higher in gastric cancer than in its adjacent and normal tissue.The FAT10 and mutant p53 levels in gastric cancer tissue were significantly correlated with lymph node metastasis and tumor,nodes,metastasis(TNM) staging.Moreover,the high FAT10 level was associated with the overall survival rate of patients.Multivariate Cox-proportional hazards model analysis showed that mRNA and protein levels of FAT10 and mutant p53,lymph node metastasis,distant metastasis and TNM stage were the independent prognostic factors for gastric cancer.CONCLUSION:FAT10 may be involved in gastric carcinogenesis,and is a potential marker for the prognosis of gastric cancer patients.FAT10 and mutant p53 may play a common role in the carcinogenesis of gastric cancer.Feng Ji Xi Jin Chun-Hua Jiao Qin-Wei Xu Zi-Wei Wang Yue-Liang Chen 2009World Journal of Gastroenterology2009,15,18:23
7Discovery of Late Cretaceous foraminifera in the Songliao Basin: Evidence from SK-1 and implications for identifying seawater incursions显示文摘The Songliao Basin is the largest oil-bearing basin in China.In the absence of sufficient evidence,the possibility of seawater incursion(s) into the Songliao Basin remains controversial.Recently,we discovered relatively abundant foraminifera fossils from units 1 and 2 of the Nenjiang Formation of borehole SK-1.Benthic foraminifera (Gavlinella sp.,Anomalinoides sp.,Pullenia sp.,Haplophragmoides sp.,Karrorulina hokkaidoana,Clavulinoides sp.),as well as planktonic foraminifera (Archaeoglobigerina blowi,Archaeoglobigerina cretacea and Hedbergella flandrini),were identified.These fossils were widely distributed in the marine Cretaceous.According to the global distribution of the above-mentioned planktonic foraminifera,the age of these fossil bearing strata appears to be Late Coniacian to Santonian.More importantly,these foraminifera provide direct evidence for marine water incursions into the Songliao Basin during deposition of the Lower Nenjiang Formation.XI DangPeng WAN XiaoQiao FENG ZhiQiang LI Shun FENG ZiHui JIA JianZhong JING Xia SI WeiMin 2011Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,3:21
8An implantable rat liver tumor model for experimental transarterial chemoembolization therapy and its imaging features显示文摘AIM: To establish an ideal implantable rat liver tumor model for interventional therapy study and examine its angiographic signs and MRI, CT features before and after embolization. METHODS: Forty male Wistar rats were implanted with Walker256 tumor in the left lateral lobe of liver. Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) and transarterial chemoembolization were performed on day 14 after implantation. Native computer tomography (CT, n=8) and native magnetic resonance (MR,n=40) were performed between the day 8 and day 21 after implantation. The radiological morphological characteristics were correlated with histological findings.RESULTS: Successful implantation was achieved in all forty rats, which was confirmed by CT and MRI. MR allowed tumor visualization from day 8 while CT from day 11 after implantation. The tumors were hypodensity on CT, hypointense on MR T1-weighted and hyperintense on T2-weighted. The model closely resembled human hepatocardnoma in growth pattem and the lesions were rich in vasculature on angiography and got its filling mainly from the hepatic artery. Before therapy, tumor size was 211.9±48.7 mm3. No ascites, satellite liver nodules or lung metastasis were found. One week after therapy, tumor size was 963.6±214.8 mm3 in the control group and 356.5±78.4mm3 in TACE group. Ascites (4/40), satellite liver nodules (7/40) or lung metastasis (3/40) could be seen on day 21.CONCLUSION: Walker-256 tumor rat model is suitable for the interventional experiment. 9Influence of transarterial chemoembolization on angiogenesis and expression of vascular endothelial growth factor and basic fibroblast growth factor in rat with Walker-256 transplanted hepatoma:An experimental study显示文摘AIM: After transarterial chemoembolization (TACE), the residual cancer cells are under extensive hypoxic or even anoxic environment. Hypoxia can lead to adaptive responses.For example, angiogenesis will help these cells survive. In this study, we examined the effect of TACE on angiogenesis and expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)and basic fibroblast growth factor (b-FGF) and to assess their relevance to Walker-256 transplanted hepatoma.METHODS: Male Wistar rats were inoculated with Walker256 tumor in the left lobe of liver. Angiography and transarterial chemoembolization were performed at d14 after transplantation. Sixty rats bearing walker-256 transplanted hepatoma were randomly divided into control group, arterial infusion group and TACE group. Each group consisted of twenty rats. Normal saline, 5-Fu, 5-Fu and lipiodol were infused through hepatic artery respectively. Two weeks after the infusion, staining of factor Ⅷ, VEGF and b-FGF was performed by immunohistochemistry method in routine paraffin-embeded sections. Microvessel density(MVD) was counted in endothelial cells with positive factor Ⅷ. Their expression levels were analyzed in conjunction with the pathologic features.RESULTS: While a smaller tumor volume was found in TACE group (F=37.818, P<0.001), no statistical differences between MVD and expression of VEGF and b-FGF were found among the 3 groups. MVD of the control group, chemotherapy group and chemoemoblization group was 80.84±24.24,83.05±20.29 and 85.20±23.91 (F=0.193, P=0.873),respectively. The positive expression of VEGF and b-FGF was 75 %, 75 % , 85 % (X2=0.449, P=0.799) and 30 %,25 %, 30 % (X2=0.141, P=0.922), respectively. 10Pharmacokinetics of traditional Chinese syndrome and recipe:a hypothesis and its verification(Ⅰ)显示文摘AIM To propose a hypothesis defining theabsorption,distribution,metabolism andelimination of traditional Chinese recipe(TCR)-component in blood of healthy subjects andpatients,and estimate its correctness.METHODS The pharmacokinetics(PK)of samedose of drug was studied in the animal model oftraditional Chinese syndrome(S)and healthyanimals.The classification,terminology,concept and significance of the hypothesis wereset forth with evidence provided in the presentstudy.The hypotheses consisted of traditionalChinese syndrome PK(S-PK)and traditionalChinese recipe PK(R-PK).Firstly,the observedtetramethylpyrazine(TMP)PK in healthy,chronically reserpinized rats(rat model ofspleen deficiency syndrome,RMSDS)andRMSDS treated with Sijunzi decoction(SJZD)forconfirmation were used to verify S-PK; secondly,the ferulic acid(FA)PK in healthy andhigh molecular weight dextran(HMWD)-inducedrabbit model with blood stasis syndrome(RDBSS)was also used to verify S-PK;andlastly,TMP PK parameters in serum of healthyrats after orally taken Ligusticum wallichii(LW),LW and Salvia miltiorrhiza(LW&SM)decoctions were compared to verify R-PK.RESULTS The apparent first-order absorption[Ka,(13.61±2.56)h-1,area under the blooddrug concentration-time curve[AUC,(24.88±9.76)μg.h-1mL-1],maximum drug concentration[Cmax,(4.82±1.23)μg·mL-1]of serum TMP inRMSDS were increased markedly(P<0.05)compared with those[Ka=(5.41±1.91)h-1,AUC=(5.20±2.57)μg·h-1·mL-1,Cmax=(2.33±1.77)μg·mL-1]of healthy rats(HR).Theapparent first-order rate constant for α and βdistribution phase[α=(0.38±0.09)h-1,β=(0.06±0.03)h-1,the apparent first-orderintercompartmental transfer rate constants[K10=(0.24±0.07)h-1,K12=(0.11±0.02)h-1,K21=(0.11±0.02)h-1]of serum TMP in RMSDS weredecreased significantly(P<0.01)comparedwith those[K10=(0.88±0.20)h-1,K12=(1.45±0.47)h-1,K21=(0.72±0.22)h-1]of HR.However,no apparent differences occurredbetween HR and RMSDS treated with SJZD.Theserum FA concentration and its AUC[(5.6690±2.3541)μg·h-1·mL-1] in RMBSS were also higherthan those[AUC=(2.7566±0.8232)μg·h-1·mL-1]of healthy rabbits(P<0.05).The Ka(11.51±2.82)h-1,AUC(0.84±0.17)μg·h-1·mL-1of LW & SM-derived TMP in serum weremuch lower(P<0.05)than those[Ka=(19.58±4.14)h-1,AUC=(1.27±0.26)μg·h-1·mL-1]ofLW-derived TMP in serum after oral decoctions.CONCLUSION The SDS and blood stasissyndrome state could affect significantly thepharmacokinetic parameters of drugs and theabnormal SDS pharmacokinetic parameters couldbe normalized by SJZD.The combination ofChinese medicine in TCR could reciprocallyaffect the pharmacokinetic parameters of othercomponents absorbed into the systemiccirculation.These results support the S-and R-PK hypothesis.Xi Huang Ping Ren Ai Dong Wen Li Li Wang Li Zhang Feng Gao Laboratory of Clinical Pharmacology of Chinese Medicine,Xijing Hospital,The Fourth Military Medical University,Xi’an 710032,Shaanxi Province,China Department of Pharmacy,Xijing Hospital,The Fourth Military Medical University,Xi’an 710032,Shaanxi Province,China Department of Physiology,The Fourth Military Medical University,Xi’an 710032,Shaanxi Province,China 2000World Journal of Gastroenterology2000,6,3:16

13Study on gastric cancer blood plasma based on surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy combined with multivariate analysis显示文摘A surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) method combined with multivariate analysis was developed for non-invasive gastric cancer detection. SERS measurements were performed on two groups of blood plasma samples: one group from 32 gastric patients and the other group from 33 healthy volunteers. Tentative assignments of the Raman bands in the measured SERS spectra suggest interesting cancer-specific biomolecular changes, including an increase in the relative amounts of nucleic acid, collagen, phospholipids and phenylalanine and a decrease in the percentage of amino acids and saccharide in the blood plasma of gastric cancer patients as compared with those of healthy subjects. Principal components analysis (PCA) and linear discriminant analysis (LDA) were employed to develop effective diagnostic algorithms for classification of SERS spectra between normal and cancer plasma with high sensitivity (79.5%) and specificity (91%). A receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was employed to assess the accuracy of diagnostic algorithms based on PCA-LDA. 14Molecular Epidemiological Characteristics of Streptococcus pyogenes Strains Involved in an Outbreak of Scarlet Fever in China,2011显示文摘Objective To investigate molecular characterization of streptococcus pyogenes isolates involved in an outbreak of scarlet fever in China in 2011.Methods Seventy-four Streptococcal pyogenes involved in an outbreak of scarlet fever were isolated from pediatric patients in the areas with high incidence in China from May to August of 2011.Emm genotyping,pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE),superantigen (SAg) genes and antimicrobial susceptibility profiling were analyzed for these isolates.Results A total of 4 different emm types were identified.Emm12 was the most prevalent type which contained four predominating PFGE patterns corresponding to four different virulence and superantigen profiles.Emm12 (79.7%) and emml (14.9%) accounted for approximately 94%of all the isolates.The speA gene was all negative in emm12 isolates and positive in emml isolates.All strains were resistant to erythromycin,and 89.4%of them were resistant to erythromycin,tracycline,and clindamycin simultaneously.Conclusion Several highly diversified clones with a high macrolide resistance rate comprise a predominant proportion of circulating strains,though no new emm type was found in this outbreak.The data provide a baseline for further surveillance of scarlet fever,which may contribute to the explanation of the outbreak and development of a GAS vaccine in China.YOU Yuan Hai SONG Yan Yan YAN Xiao Mei WANG Hai Bin ZHANG Meng Han TAO Xiao Xia Li Lei Lei ZHANG Yu Xin JIANG Xi Hong ZHANG Bing Hua ZHOU Hao XIAO Di JIN Lian Mei FENG Zi Jian LUO Feng Ji ZHANG Jian Zhong 2013Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2013,26,11:15

The term encompasses related pathways found in a broad range of eukaryotic organisms, including fungi, plants, and animals. RNA interference is part of a sophisticated network of interconnected pathways for cellular defense, RNA surveillance, and development and it may become a powerful tool to manipulate gene expression experimentally. 17Phosphate Solubilizing Ability and Phylogenetic Diversity of Bacteria from P-Rich Soils Around Dianchi Lake Drainage Area of China显示文摘The phylogenetic diversity of phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PSB) distributed in P-rich soils in the Dianchi Lake drainage area of China was characterized, and the tricalcium phosphate (TCP) solubilizing activities of isolated PSB were determined. Among 1328 bacteria isolated from 100 P-rich soil samples, 377 isolates (28.39% of the total) that exhibited TCP solubilization activity were taken as PSB. These PSB showed different abilities to solubilize TCP, with the concentrations of solubilized P in bacterial cultures varying from 33.48 to 69.63 mg L-1. A total of 123 PSB isolates, with relatively high TCP solubilization activity (> 54.00 mg L-1), were submitted for restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis, which revealed 32 unique RFLP patterns. Based on these patterns, 62 representative isolates, one to three from each RFLP pattern, were selected for 16S rRNA sequencing. Phylogenetic analysis placed the 123 PSB into three bacterial phyla, namely Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria and Firmicutes. Members of Proteobacteria were the dominant PSB, where 107 isolates represented by 26 RFLP patterns were associated with the genera of Burkholderia, Pseudomonas, Acinetobacter, Enterobacter, Pantoea, Serratia, Klebsiella, Leclercia, Raoultella and Cedecea. Firmicutes were the subdominant group, in which 13 isolates were affliated with the genera of Bacillus and Brevibacterium. The remaining 3 isolates were identified as three species of the genus Arthrobacter. 20A multicenter hospital-based diagnosis study of automated breast ultrasound system in detecting breast cancer among Chinese women显示文摘Objective: The automated breast ultrasound system(ABUS) is a potential method for breast cancer detection;however, its diagnostic performance remains unclear. We conducted a hospital-based multicenter diagnostic study to evaluate the clinical performance of the ABUS for breast cancer detection by comparing it to handheld ultrasound(HHUS) and mammography(MG).Methods: Eligible participants underwent HHUS and ABUS testing; women aged 40–69 years additionally underwent MG. Images were interpreted using the Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System(BI-RADS).Women in the BI-RADS categories 1–2 were considered negative. Women classified as BI-RADS 3 underwent magnetic resonance imaging to distinguish true-and false-negative results. Core aspiration or surgical biopsy was performed in women classified as BI-RADS 4–5, followed by a pathological diagnosis. Kappa values and agreement rates were calculated between ABUS, HHUS and MG.Results: A total of 1,973 women were included in the final analysis. Of these, 1,353(68.6%) and 620(31.4%)were classified as BI-RADS categories 1–3 and 4–5, respectively. In the older age group, the agreement rate and Kappa value between the ABUS and HHUS were 94.0% and 0.860(P<0.001), respectively; they were 89.2% and0.735(P<0.001) between the ABUS and MG, respectively. Regarding consistency between imaging and pathology results, 78.6% of women classified as BI-RADS 4–5 based on the ABUS were diagnosed with precancerous lesions or cancer; which was 7.2% higher than that of women based on HHUS. For BI-RADS 1–2, the false-negative rates of the ABUS and HHUS were almost identical and were much lower than those of MG.Conclusions: We observed a good diagnostic reliability for the ABUS.
