1Efficacy of Chinese herbal medicine for lumbar disc herniation: a systematic review of randomized controlled trials显示文摘OBJECTIVE: This is a review of the effects of Chinese herbal medicine(CHM) used alone to treat lumbar disc herniation(LDH). METHORDS: A literature search of the following electronic databases from their inception to February 2013 was conducted: Chinese Biomedical databases, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Database, China Science and Technology Journal Database, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, MEDLINE, and EMBASE. Randomized controlled trials where CHM had been used to treat LDH were selected. Data extraction, quality assessment, and data analysis were carried out by two independent reviewers. RESULTS: Of the 2415 studies identified, eight with complete data on 1146 patients were selected. The methodological quality was poor in all trials. Five studies reported that CHM was better than Western Medicine [OR=2.81, 95% CI(1.27, 6.18); OR=3.34, 95% CI(1.92, 5.79); OR=2.22, 95% CI(1.08, 4.57); OR= 6.67, 95% CI(1.34, 33.28); and OR=1.94, 95% CI(1.23, 3.06)]. Two studies reported that the clinical outcome was better in CHM groups than in physiotherapy and placebo groups, [OR=3.02, 95% CI(1.08, 8.46); and OR=2.67, 95% CI(1.26, 5.64), respectively], whereas one study reported no difference between CHM and physiotherapy groups. One study reported that CHM resulted in higher Japanese Orthopedic Association scores [MD=7.78, 95% CI(6.67, 8.89)] than in a control group and another that participants treated with CHM had lower Visual Analogue Scale scores [MD=﹣0.72, 95% CI( ﹣0.86, ﹣0.58)] than those in a control group. Three studies reported that the adverse effects of CHM and Western Medicine did not differ significantly [OR=0.10, 95% CI(0.01, 1.85); OR=0.19, 95% CI(0.01, 4.07); and OR=0.07, 95% CI(0.00, 1.32)]. CONCLUSION: CHM may be more effective than other interventions for LDH; however, methodological weaknesses in the studies assessed in this review prevent a definitive conclusion. 2Design and application of solid, dense backfill advanced mining technology with two pre-driving entries显示文摘New solid backfill mining technology provides unique technical advantages for ‘‘three-under'' coal mining which refers to coal resources trapped under buildings, railways, and water bodies. This technology has a much higher recovery rate and can effectively control the surface subsidence. However, successful application of this technology depends heavily on geological conditions. To avoid the disadvantages associated with downward mining and overhead backfilling with this new technology, a new advanced solid backfill mining design with two pre-driving entries is proposed here to ensure the backfill effect. Taking Huayuan coal mine as an example, this paper tests the double gob-side entries retaining with no pillar left scheme and optimizes an integrated technology setup for backfill mining and gob-side entry retaining. Field applications show that the recovery rate increased from 40% for strip mining to 85% for backfill mining. 3Enhancing ductility of the Al-Si coating on hot stamping steel by controlling the Fe-Al phase transformation during austenitization显示文摘In this study,austenitizing heat treatment before hot stamping of Al-10%Si coated boron steel is first investigated through environment scanning electron microscopy(ESEM)equipped with energy dispersive x-ray analysis(EDAX).The cracking behavior of the coating was evaluated using Gleeble 3500,a thermo-mechanical simulator under uniaxial plastic deformation at elevated temperatures.The extent and number of cracks developed in the coating were carefully assessed through an optical microscope.The coating layer under hot-dipped condition consists of an Al-Si eutectic matrix,Fe2Al7Si,Fe3Al2Si3 and Fe2Al5,from the coating surface to the steel substrate.The coating layer remains dense,continuous and smooth.During austenitization,the Al-rich Fe-Al intermetallics in the coating transform to more Fe-rich intermetallics,promoted by the Fe diffusion process.The coating finally shows the coexistence of two types of Fe-Al intermetallics,namely,FeAl2 and FeAl.Microcracks and Kirkendall voids occur in the coating layer and diffusion zone,respectively.The coating is heavily cracked and broken into segments during the hot tensile tests.Bare steel exposed between the separate segments of the coating is oxidized and covered with a thin FeOx layer.The appearance of the oxide decreases the adhesion of the Al-Si coating.It is found that the ductile FeAl is preferred as a coating microstructure instead of the brittle FeAl2.Therefore,the ductility of the Al-Si coating on hot stamping boron steel could be enhanced by controlling the ductile Fe-rich intermetallic phase transformations within it during austenitization.Experiments indicate that a higher austenitizing temperature or longer dwell time facilitate the Fe-rich intermetallics transformation,increasing the volume fraction of FeAl.This phase transformation also contributes to reducing the crack density and depth.GUI ZhongXiang LIANG WeiKang ZHANG YiSheng 2014Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,9:7
4Influence of heating parameters on properties of the Al-Si coating applied to hot stamping显示文摘The Al-Si coating of ultra-high strength steel has been applied to hot stamping more and more widely, owing to solving the problem of oxidation and decarburization. However, the evolution of Al-Si coating during the heating process was rarely studied in the previous study. The tests about the influence of heating parameters, such as heating temperature, heating rates and dwell time, on properties of the Al-Si coating were carried out on the Gleeble-3500 thermal simulator. The properties of the Al-Si coating, for instance, volume fraction of FeAl intermetallics, α-Fe layer as well as porosity and 3D surface topography, were explored in the study. Results showed that more and more Kirkendall voids and cracks appeared in the Al-Si coating when the heating temperature exceeded 600°C. The heating rates almost had no influence on properties of the Al-Si coating when the temperature was equal to or lower than 500°C. The volume fraction of FeAl intermetallics in the coating with dwell time from 3 s to 8 min at 930°C was0, 6.19%, 17.03% and 20.65%, separately. The volume fraction of the α-Fe layer in the coating changed from zero to 31.52%with the prolonged dwell time. The porosity of the coating ranged from 0.51% to 4.98% with the extension of dwell time. The unsmooth degree of the surface of the coating rose gradually with the increasing of heating rates and the extension of dwell time.The 3D surface topography of the coating was determined by the comprehensive effect of atoms diffusion, new formed phases,surface tension and the degree of oxidation of the coating surface. Experiments indicated that rapid heating was not suitable for the coating when the temperature exceeded 500°C. 5Jiaweisinisan facilitates neurogenesis in the hippocampus after stress damage显示文摘The traditional Chinese medicine Jiaweisinisan has antidepressant effects, and can inhibit hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal gland axis hyperactivity in stress-induced depression. In this study, rat hippocampal neural precursor cells were cultured in serum-free medium in vitro and a stress damage model was established with 120 μM corticosterone. Cells were treated with 10% (v/v) Jiaweisinisan drug-containing serum and the corticosterone antagonist RU38486. Results of the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-3,5-di-phenytetrazoliumromide assay showed that both Jiaweisinisan drug-containing serum and RU38486 promoted the proliferation of neural precursor cells after corticosterone exposure. Immunofluorescence detection showed that after Jiaweisinisan drug-containing serum and RU38486 treatment, the 5-bromo-2-deoxyuridine/terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling ratio in hippocampal neural precursor cells significantly increased, and the apoptotic rates of glial cells reduced, and neuron-like cell differentiation from neural precursor cells significantly increased. 6Evaluation of the Global and Regional Assimilation and Prediction System for Predicting Sea Fog over the South China Sea显示文摘In the South China Sea, sea fog brings severe disasters every year, but forecasters have yet to implement an effective seafog forecast. To address this issue, we test a liquid-water-content-only(LWC-only) operational sea-fog prediction method based on a regional mesoscale numerical model with a horizontal resolution of about 3 km, the Global and Regional Assimilation and Prediction System(GRAPES), hereafter GRAPES-3 km. GRAPES-3 km models the LWC over the sea, from which we infer the visibility that is then used to identify fog. We test the GRAPES-3 km here against measurements in 2016 and 2017 from coastal-station observations, as well as from buoy data, data from the Integrated Observation Platform for Marine Meteorology, and retrieved fog and cloud patterns from Himawari-8 satellite data. For two cases that we examine in detail, the forecast region of sea fog overlaps well with the multi-observational data within 72 h. Considering forecasting for0–24 h, GRAPES-3 km has a 2-year-average equitable threat score(ETS) of 0.20 and a Heidke skill score(HSS) of 0.335,which is about 5.6%(ETS) and 6.4%(HSS) better than our previous method(GRAPES-MOS). 7Effect of Sn addition on the mechanical properties and bio-corrosion behavior of cytocompatible Mg-4Zn based alloys显示文摘The mechanical properties and bio-corrosion behaviors of as-extruded Mg-4Zn alloys after Sn addition were investigated,systemati-cally.A small amount of Sn addition to Mg-4Zn alloy slightly improved the mechanical properties for solid solution strengthening,and significantly controlled the bio-corrosion rates.Sn participating in the outer layer film formation as SnO/SnO_(2)resisted the bio-corrosion proceeding.Especially,Mg-4Zn-1.5Sn alloy,with a weight loss rate of 0.45 mm/y and hydrogen evolution rate of 0.099 mL/cm^(2)/day,showed cytotoxicity grade of 0 to MC3T3-E1 cells.The perfect alliance of cytocompatibility,suitable mechanical properties and low bio-corrosion rate demonstrates that this Mg-4Zn-1.5Sn alloy is a promising biodegradable magnesium alloy for orthopedic implants.Weiyan Jiang Jingfeng Wang Weikang Zhao Qingshan Liu Dianming Jiang Shengfeng Guo 2019Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2019,7,1:6
8Status and distribution of ungulates in Xinjiang,China显示文摘Based on a long-term field investigation and other research results,we reviewed the status and distribution of ungulates in Xinjiang,China. The ungulates in Xinjiang included 19 ungulate species(30 subspecies) from 6 families and 2 orders. Among them,3 species(2 subspecies) relate to Equidae(Perrisodactyla) ,and 16 species(28 subspecies) are from 5 families of Artiodactyla. In this paper,we analyzed the conservation status of most rare and important 13 ungulate species. Firstly,we proposed the protection of genetic diversity of Camelus ferus and the distribution areas of Moschus sifanicus,Procapra przewalskii and Saiga tatarica in Xinjiang. We found that Moschus sifanicus but not Procapra przewalskii distributed in Xinjiang. It was not clear whether the remnant populations of Saiga tatarica existed in Xinjiang and China-Kazakhstan border or not. We discussed that the protection level and rational use of Capra sibirica and enhancing protection level and enlarging monitoring and research projects for Pantholops hodgsoni and Gazella subgutturosa. And we would like to suggest Forestry Department to develop the captive breeding of Tibetan antelope for rational use. In addition,the captive breeding of Cervus elaphus in Xinjiang was reviewed. 10Polyoxometalates-engineered hydrogen generation rate and durability of Pt/CNT catalysts from ammonia borane显示文摘Heterogeneously catalyzed hydrolytic dehydrogenation of ammonia borane is a remarkable structure sensitive reaction. In this work, a strategy by using polyoxometalates(POMs) as the ligands is proposed to engineer the surface and electronic properties of Pt/CNT catalysts toward the enhanced hydrogen generation rate and durability. Three kinds of POMs, i.e., silicotungstic acid(STA), phosphotungstic acid(PTA)and molybdophosphoric acid(PMA), are comparatively studied, among which the STA shows positive effects on the catalytic activity and durability. A catalyst structure-performance relationship is established by a combination of kinetic and isotopic analyses with multiple characterization techniques, such as HAADF-STEM, EDS, Raman spectroscopy and XPS. It is shown that the STA compared to the other two POMs can increase the Pt binding energy and thus promote the reaction. 11Probing the limits of plasmonic enhancement using a two-dimensional atomic crystal probe显示文摘Achieving larger electromagnetic enhancement using a nanogap between neighboring metallic nanostructures has been long pursued for boosting light–matter interactions.However,the quantitative probing of this enhancement is hindered by the lack of a reliable experimental method for measuring the local fields within a subnanometer gap.Here,we use layered MoS2 as a two-dimensional atomic crystal probe in nanoparticle-on-mirror nanoantennas to measure the plasmonic enhancement in the gap by quantitative surface-enhanced Raman scattering.Our designs ensure that the probe filled in the gap has a well-defined lattice orientation and thickness,enabling independent extraction of the anisotropic field enhancements.We find that the field enhancement can be safely described by pure classical electromagnetic theory when the gap distance is no<1.24 nm.For a 0.62 nm gap,the probable emergence of quantum mechanical effects renders an average electric field enhancement of 114-fold,38.4%lower than classical predictions.Wen Chen Shunping Zhang Meng Kang Weikang Liu Zhenwei Ou Yang Li Yexin Zhang Zhiqiang Guan Hongxing Xu 2018Light(Science & Applications)2018,7,1:4
12Effects of Waterlogging on Photosynthesis and Antioxidant Enzyme Activities of Six Barley Genotypes with Different Waterlogging Tolerance显示文摘A field experiment was carried out to study genotypic difference in the effect of waterlogging on photosynthesis, chlorophyll content and antioxidative enzyme activities in barley. Waterlogging caused a rapid decline in net photosynthetic rate (Pn) and stomatal conductance (gs), and little change in chlorophyll content during early days of the treatment. A dramatic increase in malondialdehyde (MDA) content, superoxide dismutase (SOD) and peroxidase (POD) in waterlogged plants in the early days of the experiment was found, indicating the occurrence of oxidative stress in barley plants exposed to waterlogging. There was a highly significant difference in the changed extent of all these parameters among genotypes. Franklin and Yongjiahong Liuleng Damai, which were relatively sensitive to waterlogging in terms of growth, photosynthesis and chlorophyll content, accumulated much more MDA than the other two relatively tolerant genotypes (93-3143 and QS). After removal of waterlogging, the genotypic difference became much greater in recovering of these examined parameters. Yongjiahong Liuleng Damai showed higher recovery, while Franklin only recovered to 50% of the control at the 14 day after waterlogging removal. 15A novel biodegradable Mg-1Zn-0.5Sn alloy:Mechanical properties,corrosion behavior,biocompatibility,and antibacterial activity显示文摘To meet the growing demand for antibacterial implants for bone-implant-associated infection therapy and avoid the adverse effects of secondary surgery,a degradable platform with pH responsiveness and ion-associated antibacterial properties was constructed.A small amount of Sn added to Mg-1Zn alloy reduces the biocorrosion rate,which can be attributed to Sn participation in outer-layer film formation,significantly reducing the biocorrosion rate and hydrogen evolution rate after implantation in vivo.These Mg alloys,which are susceptible to degradation in the acidic bacterial microenvironment,degrade by releasing Mg,Zn and Sn,producing favorably alkaline and antibacterial conditions.Samples with the composition of Mg-1Zn-0.5Sn were found to be beneficial for promoting initial cell adhesion and proliferation,resulting in improved biocompatibility and biosafety.The biocompatibility of this alloy was confirmed by the healthy behavior of animals and the absence of acute or chronic toxicity in the liver,spleen,and kidneys.Our results demonstrate that Mg-1Zn-0.5Sn is safe for biological systems,enabling its efficacious use in biomedical applications.Weikang Zhao Jingfeng Wang Jiang Weiyang Bo Qiao Yiyang Wang Yuling Li Dianming Jiang 2020Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2020,8,2:3
16Improving in vitro and in vivo corrosion resistance and biocompatibility of Mg-1Zn-1Sn alloys by microalloying with Sr显示文摘Magnesium(Mg)and its alloys have attracted attention as potential biodegradable materials in orthopedics due to their mechanical and physical properties,which are compatible with those of human bone.However,the effect of the mismatch between the rapid material degradation and fracture healing caused by the adverse effect of hydrogen(H2),which is generated during degradation,on surrounding bone tissue has severely restricted the application of Mg and its alloys.Thus,the development of new Mg alloys to achieve ideal degradation rates,H2 evolution and mechanical properties is necessary.Herein,a novel Mg-1Zn-1Sn-xSr(x=0,0.2,0.4,and 0.6 wt%)quaternary alloy was developed,and the microstructure,mechanical properties,corrosion behavior and biocompatibility in vitro/vivo were investigated.The results demonstrated that a minor amount of strontium(Sr)(0.2 wt%)enhanced the corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of Mg-1Zn-1Sn alloy through grain refinement and second phase strengthening.Simultaneously,due to the high hydrogen overpotential of tin(Sn),the H2 release of the alloys was significantly reduced.Furthermore,Sr-containing Mg-1Zn-1Sn-based alloys significantly enhanced the viability,adhesion and spreading of MC3T3-E1 cells in vitro due to their unique biological activity and the ability to spontaneously form a network structure layer with micro/nanotopography.A low corrosion rate and improved biocompatibility were also maintained in a rat subcutaneous implantation model.However,excessive Sr(>0.2 wt%)led to a microgalvanic reaction and accelerated corrosion and H2 evolution.Considering the corrosion resistance,H2 evolution,mechanical properties and biocompatibility in vitro and in vivo,Mg-1Zn-1Sn-0.2Sr alloy has tremendous potential for clinical applications.Yafeng Wen Qingshan Liu Jingfeng Wang Qiming Yang Weikang Zhao Bo Qiao Yuling Li Dianming Jiang 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,12:3
17PbMC1a/1b regulates lignification during stone cell development in pear(Pyrus bretschneideri)fruit显示文摘Programmed cell death(PCD)and secondary cell wall(SCW)thickening in pear fruit are accompanied by the deposition of cellulose and lignin to form stone cells.Metacaspase is an important protease for development,tissue renewal and PCD.The understanding of the molecular mechanism whereby pear(Pyrus)metacaspase promotes PCD and cell wall lignification is still limited.In this study,the Metacaspases gene family(PbMCs)from P.bretschneideri was identified.PbMC1a/1b was associated with lignin deposition and stone cell formation by physiological data,semiquantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)and quantitative RT-PCR(qRT-PCR).Relative to wildtype(WT)Arabidopsis,the overexpression of PbMC1a/1b increased lignin deposition and delayed growth,thickened the cell walls of vessels,xylary fibers and interfascicular fibers,and increased the expression of lignin biosynthetic genes.Yeast two-hybrid(Y2H),bimolecular fluorescence complementation(BiFC)and GST pull-down assays indicated that the PbMC1a/1b protein physically interacted with PbRD21.Simultaneously,the transient expression of PbMC1a/1b and PbRD21 led to significant changes in the expression of genes and lignin contents in pear fruits and flesh calli.These results indicate that PbMC1a/1b plays an important role in cell wall lignification,possibly by interacting with PbRD21 to increase the mRNA levels of some lignin synthesis-associated genes and promote the formation of stone cells in pear fruit.Xin Gong Zhihua Xie Kaijie Qi Liangyi Zhao Yazhou Yuan Jiahui Xu Weikang Rui Katsuhiro Shiratake Jianping Bao Shahrokh Khanizadeh Shaoling Zhang Shutian Tao 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:3

19Validation and modification of the AJCC 8th TNM staging system for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma in a Chinese cohort:A nationwide pancreas data center analysis显示文摘Objective:To validate the 8 th edition of the American Joint Committee on Cancer(AJCC)staging system for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC)in a Chinese cohort of radically resected patients and to develop a refined staging system for PDAC.Methods:Data were collected from the China Pancreas Data Center(CPDC)for patients with resected PDAC in 2016 and 2017,and cancer-specific survival(CSS)was evaluated using the Kaplan-Meier method and log-rank test.Univariate and multivariate analyses based on Cox regression were performed to identify prognostic factors.The recursive partitioning analysis(RPA),Kaplan-Meier method,and log-rank test were performed on the training dataset to generate a proposed modification for the 8 th TNM staging system utilizing the preoperative carbohydrate antigen(CA)19-9 level.Validation was performed for both staging systems in the validation cohort.Results:A total of 1,676 PDAC patients were retrieved,and the median CSS was significantly different between the 8 th TNM groupings,with no significant difference in survival between stage IB and IIA.The analysis of T and N stages demonstrated a better prognostic value in the N category.Multivariate analysis showed that the preoperative serum CA19-9 level was the strongest prognostic indicator among all the independent risk factors.All patients with CA19-9>500 U/mL had similar survival,and we proposed a new staging system by combining IB and IIA and stratifying all patients with high CA19-9 into stage III.The modified staging system had a better performance for predicting CSS than the 8 th AJCC staging scheme.Conclusions:The 8 th AJCC staging system for PDAC is suitable for a Chinese cohort of resected patients,and the N category has a better prognostic value than the T category.Our modified staging system has superior accuracy in predicting survival than the 8 th AJCC TNM staging system.Hao Hu Chang Qu Bingjun Tang Weikang Liu Yongsu Ma Yiran Chen Xuehai Xie Yan Zhuang Hongqiao Gao Xiaodong Tian Yinmo Yang 2021Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2021,33,4:3
20Impact of COVID-19 lockdown on the optical properties and radiative effects of urban brown carbon aerosol显示文摘Intensive measurements were conducted in Xi’an,China before and during a COVID-19 lockdown period to investigate how changes in anthropogenic emissions affected the optical properties and radiative effects of brown carbon(BrC)aerosol.The contribution of BrC to total aerosol light absorption during the lockdown(13%-49%)was higher compared with the normal period(4%-29%).Mass absorption cross-sections(MACs)of specific organic aerosol(OA)factors were calculated from a ridge regression model.Of the primary OA(POA),coal combustion OA(CCOA)had the largest MACs at all tested wave-lengths during both periods due to high molecular-weight BrC chromophores;that was followed by biomass burning OA(BBOA)and hydrocarbon-like OA(HOA).For secondary OA(SOA),the MACs of the lessoxidized oxygenated OA(OOA)species(LO-OOA)atλ=370-590 nm were higher than those of more-oxidized OOA(MO-OOA)during both periods,presumably due to chromophore bleaching.The largest contributor to BrC absorption at the short wavelengths was CCOA during both periods,but BrC absorption by LO-OOA and MO-OOA became dominant at longer wavelengths during the lockdown.The estimated radiation forcing efficiency of BrC over 370-600 nm increased from 37.5 W·gduring the normal period to 50.2 W·gduring the lockdown,and that enhancement was mainly caused by higher MACs for both LO-OOA and MO-OOA.This study provides insights into the optical properties and radiative effects of source-specific BrC aerosol when pollution emissions are reduced.Yong Zhang Qiyuan Wang Jie Tian Yu Li Huikun Liu Weikang Ran Yongming Han AndréS.H.Prévot Junji Cao 2022Geoscience Frontiers2022,13,6:3
