6Linkages of volatile fatty acids and polyhexamethylene guanidine stress during sludge fermentation:Metagenomic insights of microbial metabolic traits and adaptation显示文摘The massive use of polyhexamethylene guanidine(PHMG),as a typical bactericidal agent,raised environmental concerns to the public.This work comprehensively revealed the hormesis effects of PHMG occurred in waste activated sludge(WAS)on the generation of volatile fatty acids(VFAs)during anaerobic fermentation.The low level of PHMG(100 mg/g TSS)significantly promoted the VFAs generation(1283 mg COD/L,compared with 337 mg COD/L in the control)via synchronously facilitating the solubilization,hydrolysis,and acidification steps but inhibiting methanogenesis.Metagenomic analysis showed that the functional anaerobe(i.e.,Bacteroides,Macellibacteroide and Parabacteroide)and corresponding genetic expressions responsible for extracellular hydrolysis(i.e.,clp P),membrane transport(i.e.,ffh and gsp F),intracellular substrates metabolism(i.e.,ald and paa F)and VFAs biosynthesis(i.e.,ACACA and FASN)were enhanced in the optimal presence of PHMG.Moreover,the anaerobic species could respond and adapt to low PHMG stimuli via quorum sensing(i.e.,cqs A,rpf C and rpf G),and thus maintain the high microbial metabolic activities.However,they were unable to tolerate the toxicity of excessive PHMG,resulting in the extremely low VFAs production.This work enlightened the effects of emerging pollutants on WAS fermentation at the genetic levels,and provided guidance on the WAS treatment and resource recovery.Feng Wang Wei Du Wenxuan Huang Shiyu Fang Xiaoshi Cheng Leiyu Feng Jiashun Cao Jingyang Luo Yang Wu 2023Chinese Chemical Letters2023,34,6:1
7A new drainage tube device显示文摘Objective:Drainage tubes(e.g.,intracranial,abdominal cavity and thoracic)are commonly used to drain blood and fluid collections after surgery.It usually fails due to the lack of fixation perpendicular to the skin and the variety of tube materials.The objective of the article is to describe a new drainage tube device.Methods:This new device consists of a drainage tube fixator and diverter with a rotating handle.The fixator and diverter are fixed to the skin with a pair of wings,and the base comprises acircular arc with chamfering of the edge.The removable stopper and plastic diverter have a memory function.There are 2 holes on either side of the wings,by which they can be sewn to the skin or stapled for strength and stability.Results:The removable limiting stopper and plastic diverter with memory function work together to ensure that the drainage tube is firmly fixed.Therefore,the tube will not move either vertically or horizontally on the skin.Moreover,the device is fit for drainage tubes with different specifications and materials.Conclusions:The limiting stopper can be moved easily,which is conducive to local skin disinfection around the drainage tube.The device deserves clinical promotion.Chao He Ming Zhao Dong Yang Tianya Wu Leiyu Qiu 2016Translational Neuroscience and Clinics2016,2,1:0

9Effects of a polyamine inhibitor on the microstructure and macromechanical properties of hydrated shale显示文摘China is rich in shale gas resources,however,wellbores in shale gas reservoirs are frequently unstable.This has a serious impact on the shale gas drilling cycle.Polyamine,a common additive in water-based shale drilling fluids,can effectively inhibit shale hydration.However,there is a lack of quantitative research on the effect of polyamine inhibitors on the microstructure and macromechanical properties of shale.Therefore,this study investigated those issues via a systematic hydration experiment carried out on shale from the Longmaxi Formation.The results show that microfractures are created and expand during shale hydration,that they also connect to form a complex microfracture network,and that 3%polyamine inhibitors(polyamine solution with volume fraction of 3%)can effectively inhibit their evolution.The ultrasonic velocities and UCS of the Longmaxi shale are significantly anisotropic;the former first increases and then decreases with the laminae angle,reaching its maximum when the laminae angle is 30°.The UCS of the shale is highest and lowest,respectively,when the laminae angles are 0°or 90°and 30°.In general,these UCS appear as a'U'pattern,high on two sides with a dip in the center.Polyamines can effectively inhibit both the expansion of shale and the reduction of P-wave and S-wave velocities,the UCS,and elastic modulus.The UCS of a shale sample was reduced by 28%e40%after immersion for 96 h in water,compared to 2%e20%after immersion in a 3%polyamine inhibitor for the same amount of time.The inhibiting effect of the polyamine was remarkable.Yunlei Hu Xiangchao Shi Qingling Li Leiyu Gao Feng Wu Gang Xie 2022Petroleum2022,8,4:0
10Characterization and quantification of two acylated flavonol glycosides from Camellia sinensis and their antibacterial effect on oral pathogens显示文摘Acylated flavonol glycosides(AFGs)are a new group of flavonoids with multiple pharmacological functions.In the present work,two AFGs were isolated with a combined chromatography technology from Camellia sinensis and identified as quercetin tetraglycosides with one p-coumaryl moiety(F1)and kaempferol tetraglycosides with one p-coumaryl moiety(F2)by ultra-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry(UPLC-MS/MS)and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR).F1 and F2 with high purity and quantity can be obtained through relatively simple steps,which is of great significance in industrial production and application.The quantification of two AFGs in different tea cultivars and different season samples was conducted using the high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)method.Among fifty tested tea cultivars,the contents of F1 and F2 were extremely high in'Zhenghe Dabaicha'and'Wannong 95',but these were undetectable in some tea cultivars.Relatively high contents of AFGs were found in autumn harvested tea samples which might be related to sunlight irradiation.Further in vitro experiments showed that F1 and F2 monomers were effective on inhibiting growth and biofilm development of Porphyromonas gingivalis and Fusobacterium nucleatum.This antibacterial activity was proven to involve the chelation of iron.These results provide useful information on AFGsrich tea resources and new insights of AFGs into effective agents against oral diseases.Feifei Zhou Leiyu Yang Yingjie Gu Zhiwei Ge Yanmei Huang Hangye Zhao Bo Li Puming He Jiangfan Yang Youying Tu Yuanyuan Wu 2022Beverage Plant Research2022,2,1:0
