| 1 | Prevalence and Genotypes of Rotavirus A and Human Adenovirus among Hospitalized Children with Acute Gastroenteritis in Fujian, China, 2009-2017显示文摘Gastroenteritis is an infectious diarrhea that has been considered as an important cause of hospitalizations and death in children aged < 5 years, particularly in developing countries. Unsanitary water, contaminated food, poor hygiene, and inadequate disposal of waste and feces are all risk factors for gastroenteritis, resulting in the higher incidence in developing countries. Gastroenteritis is generally caused by viral infections, among which rotavirus (RV) infections have been reported to be the most common, especially among young children aged < 5 years with acute gastroenteritis in Asia and Africa[1]. Other viruses associated with acute gastroenteritis include human Adenovirus (HAdV), Norovirus, Sapovirus (SaV), human Astrovirus (HAstV), and Aichi virus. Recent research has reported that adenovirus types 40 and 41, belonging to species F, cause gastroenteritis and were therefore termed as enteric adenoviruses. | 2 | Comprehensive analysis of NAC transcription factors and their expression during fruit spine development in cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.)显示文摘The cucumber(Cucumis sativus L.)is an important vegetable crop worldwide,and fruit trichomes or spines are an important trait for external fruit quality.The mechanisms underlying spine formation are not well understood,but the plant-specific NAC family of transcription factors may play important roles in fruit spine initiation and development.In this study,we conducted a genome-wide survey and identified 91 NAC gene homologs in the cucumber genome.Clustering analysis classified these genes into six subfamilies;each contained a varying number of NAC family members with a similar intron–exon structure and conserved motifs.Quantitative real-time PCR analysis revealed tissue-specific expression patterns of these genes,including 10 and 12 that exhibited preferential expression in the stem and fruit,respectively.Thirteen of the 91 NAC genes showed higher expression in the wild-type plant than in its near-isogenic trichome mutant,suggesting their important roles in fruit spine development.Exogenous application of four plant hormones promoted spine formation and increased spine density on the cucumber fruits;several NAC genes showed differential expression over time in response to phytohormone treatments on cucumber fruit,implying their essential roles in fruit-trichome development.Among the NAC genes identified,12 were found to be targets of 13 known cucumber micro-RNAs.Collectively,these findings provide a useful resource for further analysis of the interactions between NAC genes and genes underlying trichome organogenesis and development during fruit spine development in cucumber. | Xingwang Liu Ting wang Ezra Bartholomew Kezia Black Mingming Dong Yaqi Zhang Sen Yang Yanling Cai Shudan Xue Yiqun Weng Huazhong Ren | 2018 | Horticulture Research2018,5,1: | 10 |
| 3 | Numerical simulation of dam-break flow and bed change considering the vegetation effects显示文摘Existing numerical investigations of dam-break flows rarely consider the effects of vegetation.This paper presents a depth-averaged two-dimensional model for dam-break flows over mobile and vegetated beds.In the model,both the consequences of reducing space for storing mass and momentum by the existence of vegetation and dragging the flow are considered:the former is considered by introducing a factor(1-c) to the flow depth,where c is the vegetation density;the later is considered by including an additional sink term in the momentum equations.The new governing equations are discretized by the finite volume method;and an existing second-order central-upwind scheme embedded with the hydrostatic reconstruction method for water depth,is used to estimate the fluxes;the source terms are estimated by either explicit or semi-explicit methods fulfilling the stability requirement.Laboratory experiments of dam-break flows or quasi-steady flows with/without vegetation effects/sediment transport are simulated.The good agreements between the measurements and the numerical simulations demonstrate a satisfactory performance of the model in reproducing the flow depth,velocity and bed deformation depth.Numerical case studies of six scenarios of dam-break flows over a mobile and vegetated bed are conducted.It is shown that when the area of the vegetation zone,the vegetation density,and the pattern of the vegetation distribution are varied,the resulted bed morphological change differs greatly,suggesting a great influence of vegetation on the dam-break flow evolution.Specifically,the vegetation may divert the direction of the main flow,hindering the flow and thus result in increased deposition upstream of the vegetation. | Zhiguo He Ting Wu Haoxuan Weng Peng Hu Gangfeng Wu | 2017 | International Journal of Sediment Research2017,32,1: | 5 |

| 5 | RT-nPCR Assays for Amplification and Sequencing of VP1 Genes in Human Enterovirus A–D from Clinical Specimens显示文摘Objective To develop RT-nPCR assays for amplifying partial and complete VP1 genes of human enteroviruses(HEVs)from clinical samples and to contribute to etiological surveillance of HEV-related diseases.Methods A panel of RT-nPCR assays,consisting of published combined primer pairs for VP1 genes of HEV A–C and in-house designed primers for HEV-D,was established in this study.The sensitivity of each RT-nPCR assay was evaluated with serially diluted virus stocks of five serotypes expressed as CCID50 perμL and copies perμL,and the newly established methods were tested in clinical specimens collected in recent years.Results The sensitivity of RT-nPCR assays for amplifying partial VP1 gene of HEVs was 0.1 CCID50 perμL and 10 virus copies perμL,and for the complete VP1 gene was 1 CCID50 perμL and 100 virus copies perμL,using serially-diluted virus stocks of five serotypes.As a proof-of-concept,25 serotypes were identified and complete VP1 sequences of 23 serotypes were obtained by this system among 858 clinical specimens positive for HEVs during the past eight surveillance seasons.Conclusion This RT-nPCR system is capable of amplifying the partial and complete VP1 gene of HEV A–D,providing rapid,sensitive,and reliable options for molecular typing and molecular epidemiology of HEVs in clinical specimens. | CHEN Wei WENG Yu Wei HE Wen Xiang ZHU Ying YU Ting Ting XIE Jian Feng ZHENG Kui Cheng YAN Yan Sheng ZHANG Yong Jun ZHANG Wen Chang | 2020 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2020,33,11: | 4 |

| 16 | Hemodynamic effects of different fluid volumes for a fluid challenge in septic shock patients显示文摘Background:It is still unclear what the minimal infusion volume is to effectively predict fluid responsiveness.This study was designed to explore the minimal infusion volume to effectively predict fluid responsiveness in septic shock patients.Hemodynamic effects of fluid administration on arterial load were observed and added values of effective arterial elastance(Ea)in fluid resuscitation were assessed.Methods:Intensive care unit septic shock patients with indwelling pulmonary artery catheter(PAC)received five sequential intravenous boluses of 100 mL 4%gelatin.Cardiac output(CO)was measured with PAC before and after each bolus.Fluid responsiveness was defined as an increase in CO>10%after 500 mL fluid infusion.Results:Forty-seven patients were included and 35(74.5%)patients were fluid responders.CO increasing>5.2%after a 200 mL fluid challenge(FC)provided an improved detection of fluid responsiveness,with a specificity of 80.0%and a sensitivity of 91.7%.The area under the ROC curve(AUC)was 0.93(95%CI:0.84-1.00,P<0.001).Fluid administration induced a decrease in Ea from 2.23(1.46-2.78)mmHg/mL to 1.83(1.34-2.44)mmHg/mL(P=0.002),especially for fluid responders in whom arterial pressure did not increase.Notably,the baseline Ea was able to detect the fluid responsiveness with an AUC of 0.74(95%CI:0.59-0.86,P<0.001),whereas Ea failed to predict the pressure response to FC with an AUC of 0.50(95%CI:0.33-0.67,P=0.086).Conclusion:In septic shock patients,a minimal volume of 200 mL 4%gelatin could reliably detect fluid responders.Fluid administration reduced Ea even when CO increased.The loss of arterial load might be the reason for patients who increased their CO without pressure responsiveness.Moreover,a high level of Ea before FC was able to predict fluid responsiveness rather than to detect the pressure responsiveness. | Ting Yang Li Weng Wei Jiang Shan Li Bin Du | 2022 | Chinese Medical Journal2022,,6: | 1 |
