1Generation of arbitrary vector vortex beams on hybrid-order Poincaré sphere显示文摘We propose theoretically and verify experimentally a method of combining a q-plate and a spiral phase plate to generate arbitrary vector vortex beams on a hybrid-order Poincaré sphere. We demonstrate that a vector vortex beam can be decomposed into a vector beam and a vortex, whereby the generation can be realized by sequentially using a q-plate and a spiral phase plate. The generated vector beam, vortex, and vector vortex beam are verified and show good agreement with the prediction. Another advantage that should be pointed out is that the spiral phase plate and q-plate are both fabricated on silica substrates, suggesting the potential possibility to integrate the two structures on a single plate. 2High-sum-rate beamformers for multi-pair two-way relay networks with amplify-and-forward relaying strategy显示文摘In multi-pair two-way relay networks,the control over inter-pair-interference is a challenging problem.When mobile stations(MSs)cooperate fully,to achieve the sum capacity of networks and at the same time completely remove the inter-pair-interference,a singular value decomposition(SVD)based beamforming scheme at relay station(RS)is established where SVD beamformers are applied over both uplink and downlink channels,respectively.To avoid any cooperation among users,an efcient beamforming scheme is proposed.This scheme uses the Max-SINR based receive beamformer at RS in uplink channel and the Max-SLNR based transmit precoder at RS in downlink channel.It omits interference(uplink)and leakage(donwlink)inside each pair of users due to their abilities of self-interference cancellation.This beamforming scheme provides an analytical solution like some well-known linear beamformers such as zero-forcing,block diagonalization,etc.From simulation,we find:the proposed SVD shows an excellent sum-rate performance at the expense of a large cooperation overhead at MSs and can be used as a tighter upper bound of sum-rate;the proposed scheme of Max-SINR beamformer plus Max-SLNR precoder performs much better on sum-rate than the ZF-based and the BD-based schemes by using almost the same computational amount.SHU Feng LU YaZhe CHEN Yu YOU XiaoHu WANG JianXin WANG Mao SHENG WeiXing CHEN Qian 2014Science China(Information Sciences)2014,57,2:15
3Giant photonic spin Hall effect in momentum space in a structured metamaterial with spatially varying birefringence显示文摘The photonic spin Hall effect(SHE)in the reflection and refraction at an interface is very weak because of the weak spin-orbit interaction.Here,we report the observation of a giant photonic SHE in a dielectric-based metamaterial.The metamaterial is structured to create a coordinate-dependent,geometric Pancharatnam–Berry phase that results in an SHE with a spin-dependent splitting in momentum space.It is unlike the SHE that occurs in real space in the reflection and refraction at an interface,which results from the momentum-dependent gradient of the geometric Rytov–Vladimirskii–Berry phase.We theorize a unified description of the photonic SHE based on the two types of geometric phase gradient,and we experimentally measure the giant spin-dependent shift of the beam centroid produced by the metamaterial at a visible wavelength.Our results suggest that the structured metamaterial offers a potential method of manipulating spin-polarized photons and the orbital angular momentum of light and thus enables applications in spin-controlled nanophotonics.Xiaohui Ling Xinxing Zhou Xunong Yi Weixing Shu Yachao Liu Shizhen Chen Hailu Luo Shuangchun Wen Dianyuan Fan 2015Light(Science & Applications)2015,4,1:15
4Polarization evolution of vector beams generated by q-plates显示文摘The polarization evolution of vector beams(VBs) generated by q-plates is investigated theoretically and experimentally.An analytical model is developed for the VB created by a general quarter-wave q-plate based on vector diffraction theory.It is found that the polarization distribution of VBs varies with position and the value q.In particular,for the incidence of circular polarization,the exit vector vortex beam has polarization states that cover the whole surface of the Poincarésphere,thereby constituting a full Poincarébeam.For the incidence of linear polarization,the VB is not cylindrical but specularly symmetric,and exhibits an azimuthal spin splitting.These results are in sharp contrast with those derived by the commonly used model,i.e.,regarding the incident light as a plane wave.By implementing q-plates with dielectric metasurfaces,further experiments validate the theoretical results.WEIXING SHU XIAOHUI LING XIQUAN FU YACHAO LIU YOUGANG KE HAILU LUO 2017Photonics Research2017,5,2:7
5Hybrid interference alignment and power allocation for multi-user interference MIMO channels显示文摘This paper proposes a hybrid interference alignment scheme which combines maximizing signal-toleakage-noise ratio(Max-SLNR) at transmitter and maximizing signal-to-interference-noise ratio(Max-SINR) at receiver.The proposed scheme gives the same sum rate as the existing method using Max-SINR at both transmitter and receiver by avoiding the operation of reversing channel,thus it provides a simpler solution.Furthermore,two power allocation procedures are devised based on game theory and water filling.The gain of these schemes over equal power allocation increases to 2 bit/s/Hz in correlated fading channels as large-scale fading becomes significant.Additionally,user fairness is solved by introducing weighting factors.SHU Feng YOU XiaoHu WANG Mao HAN YuBing LI Yang SHENG WeiXing 2013Science China(Information Sciences)2013,56,4:5
6Photonic spin Hall effect on the surface of anisotropic two-dimensional atomic crystals显示文摘We examine the spin-orbit interaction of light and photonic spin Hall effect on the surface of anisotropic two-dimensional atomic crystals. As an example, the photonic spin Hall effect on the surface of black phosphorus is investigated. The photonic spin Hall effect manifests itself as the spin-dependent beam shifts in both transverse and in-plane directions. We demonstrate that the spin-dependent shifts are sensitive to the orientation of the optical axis, doping concentration, and interband transitions. These results can be extensively extended to other anisotropic two-dimensional atomic crystals.
