2Prediction of permafrost changes in Northeastern China under a changing climate显示文摘Northeastern China has the second largest expanse of permafrost in China,primarily known as Xing'an-Baikal permafrost.Located on the southeastern edges of the Eurasian cryolithozone,the permafrost is thermally unstable and ecologically sensitive to external changes.The combined impacts of climatic,environmental,and anthropogenic changes cause 3-dimensional degradation of the permafrost.To predict these changes on the southern limit and ground temperature of permafrost in Northeastern China,an equivalent latitude model (ELM) for the mean annual ground surface temperature (MAGSTs) was proposed,and further improved to take into account of the influences of vegetation and snow-cover based on observational data and using the SHAW model.Using the finite element method and assuming a climate warming rate of 0.048°C a-1,the ELM was combined with the unsteady-state heat conduction model to simulate permafrost temperatures at present,and to predict those after 50 and 100 a.The results indicate that at present,sporadic permafrost occurs in the zones with MAGSTs of 1.5°C or colder,and there would still be a significant presence of permafrost in the zones with the present MAGSTs of 0.5°C or colder after 50 a,and in those of-0.5°C or colder after 100 a.Furthermore,the total areal extent of permafrost would decrease from 2.57×105 km2 at present to 1.84×105 km2 after 50 a and to 1.29×105 km2 after 100 a,i.e.,a reduction of 28.4% and 49.8% in the permafrost area,respectively.Also the permafrost would degrade more substantially in the east than in the west.Regional warming and thinning of permafrost would also occur.The area of stable permafrost (mean annual ground temperature,or MAGT≤-1.0°C) would decrease from present 1.07×105 to 8.8×104 km2 after 50 a,and further decrease to 5.6×104 km2 after 100 a.As a result,the unstable permafrost and seasonally frozen ground would expand,and the southern limit of permafrost would shift significantly northwards.The changes in the permafrost environment may adversely affect on ecological environments and engineering infrastructures in cold regions.Avoidance of unnecessary anthropogenic changes in permafrost conditions is a practical approach to protect the permafrost environment.WEI Zhi JIN HuiJun ZHANG JianMing YU ShaoPeng HAN XuJun JI YanJun HE RuiXia CHANG XiaoLi 2011Science China Earth Sciences2011,54,6:15
3The Homo sapiens Cave hominin site of Mulan Mountain,Jiangzhou District,Chongzuo,Guangxi with emphasis on its age显示文摘One of the most hotly debated and frontal issues in paleoanthropology focuses on the origins of modern humans. Recently, an incomplete hominin mandible with a distinctly weaker mental protuberance than modern human and a great variety of coexisting fossil mammals were unearthed from the Homo sapiens Cave of Mulan Mountain, Chongzuo, Guangxi. The mammalian fauna from the Homo sapiens Cave characterized by the combination of Elephas kiangnanensis, first occurring Elephas maixmus, and Megatapirus augustus, and strikingly different from the Early Pleistocene Gigantopithecus fauna and the Middle Pleistocene Ailuropoda-Stogodon fauna of South China could be regarded as an early representive of the typical Asian elephant fauna. Faunal analysis, biostratigraphic correlation, and, most importantly, U-series dating all consistently support an estimate of ca. 110 ka for the age of the fossil Homo sapiens and coexisting mammalian fauna, that is, the early Late Pleistocene. The fauna is mainly made up of tropical-subtropical elements, but grassland elements have a much greater variety than forest elements, which probably indicates a drier climate at that time. 4A method for the production and expedient screening of CRISPR/Cas9-mediated non-transgenic mutant plants显示文摘Developing CRISPR/Cas9-mediated non-transgenic mutants in asexually propagated perennial crop plants is challenging but highly desirable.Here,we report a highly useful method using an Agrobacterium-mediated transient CRISPR/Cas9 gene expression system to create non-transgenic mutant plants without the need for sexual segregation.We have also developed a rapid,cost-effective,and high-throughput mutant screening protocol based on Illumina sequencing followed by high-resolution melting(HRM)analysis.Using tetraploid tobacco as a model species and the phytoene desaturase(PDS)gene as a target,we successfully created and expediently identified mutant plants,which were verified as tetra-allelic mutants.We produced pds mutant shoots at a rate of 47.5%from tobacco leaf explants,without the use of antibiotic selection.Among these pds plants,17.2%were confirmed to be non-transgenic,for an overall non-transgenic mutation rate of 8.2%.Our method is reliable and effective in creating non-transgenic mutant plants without the need to segregate out transgenes through sexual reproduction.This method should be applicable to many economically important,heterozygous,perennial crop species that are more difficult to regenerate.Longzheng Chen Wei Li Lorenzo Katin-Grazzini Jing Ding Xianbin Gu Yanjun Li Tingting Gu Ren Wang Xinchun Lin Ziniu Deng Richard J.McAvoy Frederick G.Gmitter Jr. Zhanao Deng Yunde Zhao Yi Li 2018Horticulture Research2018,5,1:12

6Propofol differentially induces unconsciousness and respiratory depression through distinct interactions between GABAa receptor and GABAergic neuron in corresponding nuclei显示文摘Propofol is the most commonly used intravenous anesthetic worldwide.It can induce loss of consciousness prior to the occurrence of severe respiratory suppression,which is also a pharmacodynamic feature of all general anesthetics.However,the neural mechanisms underlying this natural phenomenon are controversial and highly related to patient safety.In the present study,we demonstrated that the pharmacodynamic effects of propofol(50 and 100 μM)on suppression of consciousness-related excitatory postsynaptic currents in the medial prefrontal cortex(mPFC)and centromedian nucleus of the thalamus(CMT)were lower than those in the kernel respiratory rhythmogenesis nucleus pre-Botzinger complex(PrBo).Furthermore,we unexpectedly found that the GABAa receptor β3 subunit is the key target for propofol's action and that it is mutually and exclusively expressed in GABAergic neurons.It is also more abundant in the mPFC and CMT,but mainly co-localized with GABAergic neurons in the PrBo.As a result,the differentiated expression pattern should mediate more neuron suppression through the activation of GABAergic neurons in the mPFC and CMT at low doses of propofol(50 μM).However,PrBo GABAergic neurons were only activated by propofol at a high dose(100 μM).These results highlight the detailed pharmacodynamic effects of propofol on consciousness-related and respiration-related nuclei and provide the distinct interaction mechanism between the β3 subunit and GABAergic neurons in mediating the suppression of consciousness compared to the inhibition of respiration.Junli Jiang Yingfu Jiao Po Gao Wen Yin Wei Zhou Yunchun Zhang Yanjun Liu Daxiang Wen Yuan Wang Liang Zhou Tian Yu Weifeng Yu 2021Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2021,53,8:11
7Application and safety assessment for nano-composite materials in food packaging显示文摘The technical breakthroughs and rapid developments in nanotechnologies enabling goods and products based on nanomaterials (NMs) has come to media and public attention as potentially one of the most significant technological advances of our time. Among these technical applications, nano-composite food packaging, which combines the NMs and conventional packaging, is at the forefront of applications in nanotechnologies, leading the whole industrial chain based on nanotechnologies with high speed development. Taking into account the status of the nano-composites applied in food packaging and present development trends, this review is focused on summarizing the basic applications of the nano-composites in food packaging as well as its risk assessment. 9Cancer incidence and mortality in Guangdong province,2012显示文摘Objective: To estimate the cancer incidence and mortality in 2012 in Guangdong province by analyzing the cancer data of selected population-based cancer registries in Guangdong province in 2012.Methods: Eight of nine population-based cancer registries submitted cancer data to the Guangdong Provincial Centre for Disease Control and Prevention(Guangdong CDC), whose data met the data quality criteria were included for analysis. The statistics of selected registries, stratified by areas, gender, age and cancer types, were used to estimate the cancer incidence and mortality in 2012 in Guangdong province according to the population data in Guangdong province. Segi's population and the national census population in 2000 were used for calculating the age-standardized rates(ASR). Results: A total of 15,084,942 people, accounted for 17.47% of all population in Guangdong province, were covered in 8 selected population-based cancer registries in 2012. The percentage of cases morphologically verified(MV%) and the percentage of death certificate-only cases(DCO%) were 72.84% and 0.87%, respectively, and the mortality/incidence(M/I) ratio was 0.56. It was estimated that there were 211,300 new cancer cases and 117,300 cancer deaths. The incidence crude rate(CR), the ASR by Chinese standard population(ASRC) and by world standard population(ASRW), and the accumulated rate(AR)(0-74 years) were 250.20/100,000(265.39/100,000 in males, 234.29/100,000 in females), 207.04/100,000, 201.34/100,000 and 22.91%, respectively, in Guangdong province in 2012. The incidence CR and ASRC were 267.25/100,000 and 221.43/100,000 in urban areas, and 215.51/100,000 and 178.77/100,000 in rural areas, respectively. The death CR, ASRC, ASRW and AR(0-74 years) were 148.44/100,000(190.95/100,000 in males, 105.06/100,000 in females), 103.73/100,000, 102.44/100,000 and 11.68%, respectively, in Guangdong province in 2012. The death CR and ASRC were 164.57/100,000 and 105.46/100,000 in urban areas, and 124.63/100,000 and 99.97/100,000 in rural areas, respectively. Top 5 cancers were lung cancer, liver cancer, female breast cancer, colon cancer and nasopharyngeal cancers(NPC), and top 5 death cancers were lung cancer, liver cancer, colon cancer, stomach cancer, and NPC in Guangdong province in 2012.Conclusions: Lung cancer, liver cancer, female breast cancer, colon cancer and NPC were the major economic cancer burdens and health concerns in Guangdong province in 2012. 10Empirical analysis of airport network and critical airports显示文摘Air transport network, or airport network, is a complex network involving numerous airports. Effective management of the air transport system requires an in-depth understanding of the roles of airports in the network. Whereas knowledge on air transport network properties has been improved greatly, methods to find critical airports in the network are still lacking. In this paper, we present methods to investigate network properties and to identify critical airports in the network. A novel network model is proposed with airports as nodes and the correlations between traffic flow of airports as edges. Spectral clustering algorithm is developed to classify airports. Spatial distribution characteristics and intraclass correlation of different categories of airports are carefully analyzed. The analyses based on the fluctuation trend of distance-correlation and power spectrum of time series are performed to examine the self-organized criticality of the network. The results indicate that there is one category of airports which dominates the self-organized critical state of the network. Six airports in this category are found to be the most important ones in the Chinese air transport network. The flights delay occurred in these six airports can propagate to the other airports, having huge impact on the operation characteristics of the entire network. 12Patient-derived non-small cell lung cancer xenograft mirrors complex tumor heterogeneity显示文摘Objective:Patient-derived xenograft(PDX)models have shown great promise in preclinical and translational applications,but their consistency with primary tumors in phenotypic,genetic,and pharmacodynamic heterogeneity has not been well-studied.This study aimed to establish a PDX repository for non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)and to further elucidate whether it could preserve the heterogeneity within and between tumors in patients.Methods:A total of 75 surgically resected NSCLC specimens were implanted into immunodeficient NOD/SCID mice.Based on the successful establishment of the NSCLC PDX model,we compared the expressions of vimentin,Ki67,EGFR,and PD-L1 proteins between cancer tissues and PDX models using hematoxylin and eosin staining and immunohistochemical staining.In addition,we detected whole gene expression profiling between primary tumors and PDX generations.We also performed whole exome sequencing(WES)analysis in 17 first generation xenografts to further assess whether PDXs retained the patient heterogeneities.Finally,paclitaxel,cisplatin,doxorubicin,atezolizumab,afatininb,and AZD4547 were used to evaluate the responses of PDX models to the standard-of-care agents.Results:A large collection of serially transplantable PDX models for NSCLC were successfully developed.The histology and pathological immunohistochemistry of PDX xenografts were consistent with the patients’tumor samples.WES and RNA-seq further confirmed that PDX accurately replicated the molecular heterogeneities of primary tumors.Similar to clinical patients,PDX models responded differentially to the standard-of-care treatment,including chemo-,targeted-and immuno-therapeutics.Conclusions:Our established PDX models of NSCLC faithfully reproduced the molecular,histopathological,and therapeutic characteristics,as well as the corresponding tumor heterogeneities,which provides a clinically relevant platform for drug screening,biomarker discovery,and translational research.Xuanming Chen Cheng Shen Zhe Wei Rui Zhang Yongsheng Wang Lili Jiang Ke Chen Shuang Qiu Yuanli Zhang Ting Zhang Bin Chen Yanjun Xu Qiyi Feng Jinxing Huang Zhihui Zhong Hongxia Li Guowei Che Kai Xiao 2021Cancer Biology & Medicine2021,18,1:5
13Synthesis of Mg-Al-carbonate layered double hydroxide by an atom-economic reaction显示文摘A clean method for preparing layered double hydroxides (LDHs) has been developed, featured by using the hydroxides of two different metals as starting materials by atom-economic reactions. The reactions were carried out under hydrothermal conditions in either a high pressure autoclave or a microwave digester. The compositions, structural parameters and thermal behavior of the resulting LDHs are very similar to those of materials produced by using the separate nucleation and aging steps (SNAS) method. The major advantage of the new method is that no by-product is produced, so that filtration and washing processes are unnecessary. 15LA-ICP-MS U–Pb geochronology of detrital zircons from the Zhaochigou Formation-complex in the Helan Mountain and its tectonic significance显示文摘This paper carries out studies about LA-ICPMS U–Pb dating and Hf isotopic compositional analysis for detrital zircons in two metasedimentary samples that were taken from the Zhaochigou Formation-complex in the Helan Mountain.The results show that the Zhaochigou Formation-complex formed*1.96 Ga,and it is a part of the Khondalite Series that is widespread in the North China Craton(NCC).The age spectrum of the detrital zircons indicates that the Zhaochigou Formation-complex shared the same provenance with the eastern edge of the Khondalite Series.Products of ancient magmatic activities within the Khondalite Belt may be the major source for the sedimentary materials that formed the Khondalite Series.Our age-dating results suggest that the Khondalite Series in the NCC may have experienced two stages of metamorphism,as the early stage occurred during 1.96–1.95 Ga,and the later stage occurred at about 1.87 Ga.The Hfisotopic data indicate that the Western Block of the NCC endured a stage of crustal growth at 2.5–2.3 Ga.Liming Li Zuoxun Zeng Yanjun Lu Yunxu Wei Shimin Xiang Lili Pan 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,13:3

17PrP mutants with different numbers of octarepeat sequences are more susceptible to the oxidative stress显示文摘One of the physiological functions of cellular prion protein(PrP C )is believed to work as a cellular resistance to oxidative stress,in which the octarepeats region within PrP plays an important role.However,the detailed mechanism is less clear.In this study,the expressing plasmids of wild-type PrP (PrP-PG5)and various PrP mutants containing 0(PrP-PG0),9(PrP-PG9)and 12(PrP-PG12)octarepeats were generated and PrP proteins were expressed both in E.coli and in mammalian cells.Protein aggregation and formation of carbonyl groups were clearly seen in the recombinant PrPs expressed from E.coli after treatment of H2O2.MTT and trypan blue staining assays revealed that the cells expressing the mutated PrPs within octarepeats are less viable than the cells expressing wild-type PrP.Statistically significant high levels of intracellular free radicals and low levels of glutathione peroxidase were observed in the cells transfected with plasmids containing deleted or inserted octarepeats.Remarkably more productions of carbonyl groups were detected in the cells expressing PrPs with deleted and inserted octarepeats after exposing to H2O2.Furthermore,cells expressing wild-type PrP showed stronger resistant activity to the challenge of H2O2 at certain extent than the mutated PrPs and mock. 18A LOSSLESS COMPRESSION ALGORITHM OF REMOTE SENSING IMAGE FOR SPACE APPLICATIONS显示文摘A simple and adaptive lossless compression algorithm is proposed for remote sensing image compression,which includes integer wavelet transform and the Rice entropy coder.By analyzing the probability distribution of integer wavelet transform coefficients and the characteristics of Rice entropy coder,the divide and rule method is used for high-frequency sub-bands and low-frequency one.High-frequency sub-bands are coded by the Rice entropy coder,and low-frequency coefficients are predicted before coding.The role of predictor is to map the low-frequency coefficients into symbols suitable for the entropy coding.Experimental results show that the average Compression Ratio(CR) of our approach is about two,which is close to that of JPEG 2000.The algorithm is simple and easy to be implemented in hardware.Moreover,it has the merits of adaptability,and independent data packet.So the algorithm can adapt to space lossless compression applications.Sui Yuping Yang Chengyu Liu Yanjun Wang Jun Wei Zhonghui He Xin 2008Journal of Electronics(China)2008,25,5:3

20Early Paleozoic adakite in the Liuyuan area from the Beishan orogenic belt,NW Gansu Province:Petrogenesis and implication for tectonic setting显示文摘The Liuyuan area,which is located on the southern margin of the Beishan orogenic belt,develops abundant Early Paleozic granitoids.SHRIMP zircon U-Pb dating yielded a weighted mean 206Pb/238U age of 421±8 Ma for the Liuyuan granodiorite(Zhao Zehui et al.,2007),implying its Late Silurian intrusion.Geochemical compositions showed that the Liuyuan granodiorite is characterized by high SiO2(65.01%-67.31%),A12O3(17.17%-18.05%) and Na2O(Na2O/K2O=1.67-1.87) but low Mg# contents calculated as 100×Mg2+/(Mg2++∑Fe2+) from 28.77 to 31.15,as well as being enriched in Sr(472×10-6-517×10-6) but depleted in Yb(1.2×10-6-1.42×10-6) and Y(12.8×10-6-14×10-6).The REEs are characterized by right-inclined patterns with LREE enrichment,HREE depletion and slightly negative Eu anomalies(Eu/Eu*=0.91-0.97).Major and trace elements indicate that the granodiorite is an adakite.The Nb/Ta values of the granodiorite vary from 10.80 to 18.01 and Nb/U from 6.32 to 10.09,both lying between the values of the crust and the mantle.The rock has low εNd(t) values(-2.5--0.8) and high ISr(0.706321-0.706495).Geochemical and Sr-Nd isotopic compositions indicate that the Liuyuan granodiorite is possibly derived from partial melting of thickening lower crust,related to mantle underplating.The Yb-Ta and Y+Nb-Rb discriminant diagrams imply the Liuyuan granodiorite intruded in a local extensional tectonic setting during late collision.Combined with previous studies on geochronology,geochemistry and tectonic setting of granitoids,we interprete that the constraint of this adakite in the Liuyuan area indicates that the tectonic setting may have transformed from collision to extension during the Early Devonian.Li, Yanjun Wei, Junhao Tan, Jun Fu, Lebing Liu, Xuntao Kong, Lingjun Jiang, Yongjian Shi, Wenjie 2011Chinese Journal Of Geochemistry2011,30,2:2
