| 1 | 外源水杨酸对盐胁迫下非洲菊抗氧化酶活性和生理特性的影响(英文)显示文摘以非洲菊(Gerbera jamesonii L.)品种Amaretto'为试材,研究外源水杨酸(SA)对缓解非洲菊生殖生长期因盐胁迫引起的过氧化伤害作用.在开花前分别用0、0.5和1.0mmol L-1SA对非洲菊植株进行预处理,3d后用100mmol L-1NaCl灌溉,持续2周;对照植株未经NaCl和SA处理.结果表明:盐胁迫处理后,叶片的超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)和过氧化物酶(POD)活性增加,丙二醛(MDA)含量、电解质外渗率和脯氨酸含量提高;外源SA预处理显著降低了盐胁迫植株叶片的MDA含量和电解质外渗率;在外源0.5mmol L-1SA预处理后,植株SOD和POD活性分别是对照的1.4倍和2.4倍;SA预处理后与植株耐盐性相关的生理生化指标呈显著相关,以0.5mmol L-1SA处理增强植株盐胁迫耐性的效果更好.说明外源SA处理能够诱导盐胁迫下非洲菊植株的抗氧化反应,水杨酸将是一种提高园艺作物耐盐性的有效物质. | Ganege Don Kapila Kumara 夏宜平 朱祝军 B. | 2 | Climate change effects in the Western Himalayan ecosystems of India: evidence and strategies显示文摘Background: The fragile landscapes of the Himalayan region are highly susceptible to natural hazards, and there is ongoing concern about current and potential climate change impacts. This study provides background information on India's Western Himalayas and reviews evidence of warming as well as variability in precipitation and extreme events.Methods: Understanding and anticipating the impacts of climate change on Himalayan forest ecosystems and the services they provide to people are critical. Efforts to develop and implement effective policies and management strategies for climate change mitigation and adaptation requires particular new research initiatives. The various studies initiated and conducted in the region are compiled here.Results: Several new initiatives taken by the Himalayan Forest Research Institute in Shimla are described. This includes new permanent observational field studies, some with mapped trees, in high altitude transitional zones for continuous monitoring of vegetation response. We have also presented new strategies for mitigating potential climate change effects in Himalayan forest ecosystems.Conclusions: Assessment of the ecological and genetic diversity of the Himalayan conifers is required to evaluate potential responses to changing climatic conditions. Conservation strategies for the important temperate medicinal plants need to be developed. The impact of climate change on insects and pathogens in the Himalayas also need to be assessed. | 3 | Heartwood, sapwood and bark content of teak trees grown in Karnataka, India显示文摘We evaluated heartwood, sapwood and bark content in teak trees.A total of 27 sample plots were laid out in teak plantations raised by State Forest Department in Karnataka covering different age groups(11 36 years), density(516 2061 trees/ha) and sites.From these plantations, a total of 130 trees were felled for estimating the yield and bark content in relation to diameter at breast height(DBH), age and density.Bark content ranged from 22.2% 54.3%.Heartwood and sapwood content were analyzed by sampling five trees each from two different plantations, one 30 years old at 553 trees ha-1and the other 32 years old at 911trees ha-1.The highest heartwood proportion of stem wood volume(over-bark) was 56.3% and the lowest was 37.1%.The sapwood proportion ranged from 12.9% 23.0%, while the bark content ranged from27.8% 43.5%.The heartwood proportion increased with DBH, while the proportion of bark decreased.The sapwood proportion did not vary with DBH.The bark content decreased with increasing age, but increased with stand density.There was no significant difference in heartwood content with respect to age or stand density because the ages of the two stands were similar.A larger dataset from young to mature stands is needed to describe the relationships between age and stand density and heartwood,sapwood and bark content of trees. | Vindhya Prasad Tewari K.M.Mariswamy | 2013 | Journal of Forestry Research2013,24,4: | 4 |

| 15 | Developing a dynamic growth model for teak plantations in India显示文摘Background:Tectona grandis(teak)is one of the most important tropical timber species occurring naturally in India.Appropriate growth models,based on advanced modeling techniques,are not available but are necessary for the successful management of teak stands in the country.Long-term forest planning requires mathematical models,and the principles of Dynamical System Theory provide a solid foundation for these.Methods:The state-space approach makes it possible to accommodate disturbances and avarying environment.In this paper,an attempt has been made to develop a dynamic growth model based on the limited data,consisting of three annual measurements,collected from 22 teak sample plots in Karnataka,Southern India.Results:A biologically consistent whole-stand growth model has been presented which uses the state-space approach for modelling rates of change of three state-variables viz,dominant height,stems per hectare and stand basal area.Moreover,the model includes a stand volume equation as an output function to estimate this variable at any point in time.Transition functions were fitted separately and simultaneously.Moreover,a continuous autoregressive error structure is also included in the modelling process.For fitting volume equation,generalized method of moments was used to get efficient parameter estimates under heteroscedastic conditions.Conclusions:A simple model containing few free parameters performed well and is particularly well suited to situations where available data is scarce. | Vindhya Prasad Tewari Juan Gabriel lvarez-gonzález Oscar García | 2014 | Forestry Studies in China2014,16,2: | 1 |

| 18 | Comparative morphometrics of two populations of giant river catfish (Mystus seenghala) from the Indus river system显示文摘Giant river catfish (Mystus seenghala) from the Beas river were compared with a population in the Sutlej river of theIndus river system using 28 morphometric characters. Discriminant analyses and a univariate ANOVA were used toexplore these data. Allometric transformation of each measurement was done to eliminate correlations with size. Thestepwise discriminant analysis retained nine variables that significantly discriminated the Beas samples from theSutlej samples. Using these variables, 91.2% (original) and 89.0% (cross validated) of fish were classified into theircorrect samples. Misclassification was higher for the Sutlej samples (12.5%) than for the Beas samples (6.3%). Theresults of the discriminant analyses showed that variability in the Beas samples was more homogeneous andprovided a more characteristic picture of the group than the Sutlej samples.
