11In vitro antioxidant assessment and a rapid HPTLC bioautographic method for the detection of anticholinesterase inhibitory activity of Geophila repens显示文摘OBJECTIVE: Geophila repens(L.) I. M. Johnst.(Rubiaceae), a small, creeping, perennial herb, is claimed to have memory-enhancing property. The goal of this study was to assess its antioxidant and anticholinesterase activity and conduct a rapid bioautographic enzyme assay for screening acetylcholinesterase(ACh E) and butyrylcholinesterase(BCh E) inhibition of G. repens extracts.METHODS: Antioxidant activity of G. repens extracts was assessed by performing 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH), nitric oxide(NO), superoxide(SOD), hydroxyl(OH) and total antioxidant capacity(TAC) assays. Anticholinesterase activity was investigated by quantifying the ACh E and BCh E inhibitory activities of chloroform(CGR), ethyl acetate(EGR) and methanol(MGR) extract fractions from G. repens leaves. A rapid high-performance thin-layer chromatography(HPTLC) bioautographic method for the detection of ACh E and BCh E inhibition was performed.RESULTS: Among all extract fractions, EGR exhibited the highest half maximal inhibitory concentration(IC_(50)) in DPPH, SOD, NO, OH and TAC assays, with IC_(50) of(38.33 ± 3.21),(45.14 ± 1.78),(59.81 ± 1.32),(39.45 ± 0.79) and(43.76 ± 0.81) μg/m L respectively. EGR displayed competitive, reversible inhibition of ACh E and BCh E activities with IC_(50) of(68.63 ± 0.45) and(59.45 ± 0.45) μg/m L, respectively. Total phenolic and flavonoids contents of EGR were found to be 360.42 mg gallic acid equivalents and 257.31 mg quercetin equivalents per gram of extract. Phytoconstituents of the EGR extract that were inhibitors of cholinesterase produced white spots on the yellow background of HPTLC plates in the bioautographic test.CONCLUSION: The results of this study revealed that phenols and flavonoids could be responsible for the antioxidant, anticholinesterase activities of G. repens.Umesh Chandra Dash Atish Kumar Sahoo 2017Journal of Integrative Medicine2017,15,3:0

13Sliding Mode Control of Coupled Tank Systems Using Conditional Integrators显示文摘For the problem of set point regulation of the liquid level in coupled tank systems, we present a continuous sliding mode control(SMC) with a 'conditional integrator', which only provides integral action inside the boundary layer. For a special choice of the controller parameters, our design can be viewed as a PID controller with anti-windup and achieves robust regulation.The proposed controller recovers the transient response performance without control chattering. Both full-state feedback as well as output-feedback designs are presented in this work. Our output-feedback design uses a high-gain observer(HGO) which recovers the performance of a state-feedback design where plant parameters are assumed to be known. We consider both interacting as well as non-interacting tanks and analytical results for stability and transient performance are presented in both the cases. The proposed controller continuous SMC with conditional integrators(CSMCCI) provides superior results in terms of the performance measures as well as performance indices than ideal SMC, continuous SMC(CSMC) and continuous SMC with conventional integrator(CSMCI). 14Recombinant HIV to kill latent reservoir cells: a hypothetical therapeutic strategy显示文摘Latency is the pivotal factor that governs the long-term pathogenecity and persistence of HIV-1 infection.It is also the primary impediment to cure and successful treatment,resulting in patient death.Latency of HIV-1 infection promotes failure of the conventional antiretroviral therapy(ART).Cessation of ART immediately leads to viral reactivation and attainment of viral load in peripheral circulation.ART comes with severe side effects and is ineffective at treating latent infection.To eliminate latent infection,alternate therapeutic strategies such as Shock and Kill,Block and Lock,gene editing and vaccination have been proposed.Although these strategies have experimentally been proven successful,they possess major limitations.Hence,in this hypothesis,an alternate therapeutic strategy has been proposed to solve the threat of HIV-latency.The proposed model encompasses the generation and administration of recombinant HIV-1 particles whose genomes having pro-apoptotic gene,tBid,will activate apoptotic cell death pathways after infecting only the latent cells,thereby removing latent HIV host cells from patients’bodies.Umesh Chandra Hader 2022Medical Theory and Hypothesis2022,5,4:0
15An efficient algorithm to clip a 2D-polygon against a rectangular clip window显示文摘Polygon clipping is of great importance in computer graphics.One of the popular algorithms to clip a polygon is Cohan–Sutherland Hodgeman algorithm which is based on line clipping.Cohan–Sutherland Hodgeman algorithm clips the polygon against the given rectangular clip window with the help of line clipping method.Cohan–Sutherland algorithm requires traversing the polygon in anti clockwise direction(positive orientation).In this work we propose an efficient polygon clipping algorithm against a rectangular clip window.Proposed algorithm uses parametric representation of polygon edges.Using the concept of point clipping,we can find required intersection points of edges of polygon with clip window boundaries.Well suited numerical illustrations are used to explain the proposed polygon clipping method.The proposed algorithm is computationally less expensive and comprehensive.Sushil Chandra Dimri Umesh Kumar Tiwari Mangey Ram 2022Applied Mathematics(A Journal of Chinese Universities)2022,37,1:0
