1In-situ observations of internal dissolved heavy metal release in relation to sediment suspension in lake Taihu, China显示文摘Despite laboratory experiments that have been performed to study internal heavy metal release,our understanding of how heavy metals release in shallow eutrophic lakes remains limited for lacking in-situ evidence.This study used automatic environmental sensors and a water sampling system to conduct high-frequency in-situ observations(1-hr intervals)of water environmental variables and to collect water samples(3-hr intervals),with which to examine the release of internal heavy metals in Lake Taihu,China.Under conditions of disturbance by strong northerly winds,sediment resuspension in both the estuary area and the lake center caused particulate heavy metal resuspension.However,the patterns of concentrations of dissolved heavy metals in these two areas were complex.The concentrations of dissolved Se and Mo increased in both areas,indicating that release of internal dissolved Se and Mo is triggered by sediment resuspension.The concentrations of dissolved Ni,Zn,As,Mn,Cu,V,and Co tended to increase in the estuary area but decrease in the lake center.The different trends between these two areas were controlled by pH and cyanobacteria,which are related to eutrophication.During the strong northerly winds,the decrease in concentrations of dissolved heavy metals in the lake center was attributable primarily to absorption by the increased suspended solids,and to growth-related assimilation or surface adsorption by the increased cyanobacteria.The findings of this study suggest that,short-term changes of environmental conditions are very important in relation to reliable monitoring and risk assessment of heavy metals in shallow eutrophic lakes.Tingfeng Wu Guangwei Zhu Jianghai Chen Tengteng Yang 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,11:7
2A vertically integrated eutrophication model and its application to a river-style reservoir-Fuchunjiang,China显示文摘Based on a 2-D hydrodynamic model,a vertically integrated eutrophication model was developed.The physical sub-model can be used for calculation of water density at different depths,and the water quality sub-model was used for calculation of algal growth.The cohesive and non-cohesive sediments were simulated separately with different methods.The light extinction coeffcient used in the underwater light regime sub-model was linearly related to the sum of sediment and phytoplankton biomass.Some components less important to the model were simplified to improve practicability and calculation effciency.Using field data from Fuchunjiang Reservoir,we calculated the sensitivity of ecological parameters included in this model and validated the model.The results of sensitivity analysis showed that the parameters strongly inffuenced the phytoplankton biomass,including phytoplankton maximum growth rate,respiration rate,non-predatory mortality rate,settling rate,zooplankton maximum filtration rate,specific extinction coeffcient for suspended solids and sediment oxygen demand rate.The model was calibrated by adjusting these parameters.Total chlorophyll a(chl-a) concentrations at different layers in the water column were reproduced very well by the model simulations.The simulated chl-a values were positively correlated to the measured values with Pearson correlation coeffcient of 0.92.The mean difference between measured and simulated chl-a concentrations was 12% of the measured chl-a concentration.Measured and simulated DO concentrations were also positively correlated(r = 0.74) and the mean difference was 4% of measured DO concentrations.The successful validation of model indicated that it would be very useful in water quality management and algal bloom prediction in Fuchunjiang Reservoir and a good tool for water quality regulation of other river-style reservoirs.WU Tingfeng LUOLiancong QIN Boqiang CUI Guangbai YUZuoming YAO Zhiming 2009Journal of Environmental Sciences2009,21,3:6

4Mesoporous NiCo_2O_4 nanoneedles@MnO_2 nanoparticles grown on nickel foam for electrode used in high-performance supercapacitors显示文摘Mesoporous NiCo_2O_4@MnO_2 nanoneedle arrays as electrode materials for supercapacitor grown on a conductive nickel foam were prepared by a facile hydrothermal route. The interconnected mesoporous structure of the NiCo_2O_4 nanoneedle arrays provides a large specific surface area for charge storage.The electrochemically active MnO_2 nanoparticles covered on the surface of NiCo_2O_4 nanoneedle result in a favorable synergistic storage effect because of charge redistribution at the NiCo_2O_4|MnO_2 interface,which reduces the interfacial polarization and facilitates ion diffusion. The initial specific capacitance of NiCo_2O_4@MnO_2(S2) is 1001 F g^(-1) at current density of 15 A g^(-1). The capacity retention of S2 is about87.4% after 4000 cycles, and the specific capacitance of S2 electrode only decreases from 1001 F g^(-1) to736 F g^(-1) even after 10,000 cycles. The first-principles calculations show that a chemical bonding between the NiCo_2O_4 and MnO_2 is not only helpful for stabilizing the composites but also leads to a charge redistribution at the interface, which may lead to a smaller interfacial polarization and thus beneficial for the interfacial capacity. The excellent electrochemical performance of NiCo_2O_4@MnO_2 composites(S2)can be ascribed to the high surface area, unique architecture, MnO_2 nanoparticle modification, reduced charge transfer resistance and stable interface between NiCo_2O_4 and MnO_2. 10A nonlinear analysis of surface acoustic waves in isotropic elastic solids显示文摘With the fast evolution of wireless and networking communication technology,applications of surface acoustic wave(SAW),or Rayleigh wave,resonators are proliferating with fast shrinking sizes and increasing frequencies.It is inevitable that the smaller resonators will be under a strong electric field with induced large deformation,which has to be described in wave propagation equations with the consideration of nonlinearity.In this study,the formal nonlinear equations of motion are constructed by introducing the nonlinear constitutive relation and strain components in a standard procedure,and the equations are simplified by the extended Galerkin method through the elimination of harmonics.The wave velocity of the nonlinear SAW is obtained from approximated nonlinear equations and boundary conditions through a rigorous solution procedure.It is shown that if the amplitude is small enough,the nonlinear results are consistent with the linear results,demonstrating an alternative procedure for nonlinear analysis of SAW devices working in nonlinear state.Haoxiang Wu Rongxing Wu Tingfeng Ma Zixiao Lu Honglang Li Ji Wang 2022Theoretical & Applied Mechanics Letters2022,12,2:0
11Distinct and shared endothermic strategies in the heat producing tissues of tuna and other teleosts显示文摘Although most fishes are ectothermic,some,including tuna and billfish,achieve endothermy through specialized heat producing tissues that are modified muscles.How these heat producing tissues evolved,and whether they share convergent molecular mechanisms,remain unresolved.Here,we generated a high-quality genome from the mackerel tuna(Euthynnus affinis)and investigated the heat producing tissues of this fish by single-nucleus and bulk RNA sequencing.Compared with other teleosts,tuna-specific genetic variation is strongly associated with muscle differentiation.Single-nucleus RNA-seq revealed a high proportion of specific slow skeletal muscle cell subtypes in the heat producing tissues of tuna.Marker genes of this cell subtype are associated with the relative sliding of actin and myosin,suggesting that tuna endothermy is mainly based on shivering thermogenesis.In contrast,cross-species transcriptome analysis indicated that endothermy in billfish relies mainly on nonshivering thermogenesis.Nevertheless,the heat producing tissues of the different species do share some tissue-specific genes,including vascular-related and mitochondrial genes.Overall,although tunas and billfishes differ in their thermogenic strategies,they share similar expression patterns in some respects,highlighting the complexity of convergent evolution.Baosheng Wu Xueli Gao Mingling Hu Jing Hu Tianming Lan Tingfeng Xue Wenjie Xu Chenglong Zhu Yuan Yuan Jiangmin Zheng Tao Qin Peidong Xin Ye Li Li Gong Chenguang Feng Shunping He Huan Liu Haimeng Li Qing Wang Zhenhua Ma Qiang Qiu Kun Wang 2023Science China(Life Sciences)2023,66,11:0
