1Antimicrobial activity of Sapindus mukorossi and Rheum emodi extracts against H pylori: In vitro and in vivo studies显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the antibacterial activity of Sapindus mukorossi (S. mukorossi) and Rheum emodi (R. emodi). METHODS: Powders of S. mukorossi and R. emodi were extracted successively with petroleum ether, benzene, chloroform and ethanol and were concentrated in vacuum. The disk diffusion method was used for in vitro studies and in vivo studies were performed on male Wister rats. Thirty resistant clinical isolates of H pylori, as determined by their antibiotic sensitivity patterns by E-test, along with two Gram +ve (S. aureus, B. subtilis) and two Gram -ve (E. coli, P. vugaris) organisms were screened for their susceptibility patterns against these extracts. RESULTS: In our screening, all 30 resistant isolates and the other four organisms (two Gram +ve S. aureus, B. subtilis and two Gram -ve, E. coli, P. vugaris) were sensitive to the test compounds. It was found that ethanol and chloroform extracts of S. mukorossi and ethanol and benzene extracts of R. emodi inhibited H pylori at very low concentrations. In the in vitro study, the isolates showed a considerable zone of inhibition at very low concentrations (10 μg/mL) for both the extracts. In the in vivo study, the H pylori infection was cleared with minimal doses of extracts of S. mukorossi (2.5 mg/mL) and R. emodi (3.0 mg/mL) given orally for seven days. CONCLUSION: We can conclude from this study that the extracts of S. mukorossi and R. emodi inhibited the growth of pylori in vitro and, in in vivo studies, the H pylori infection cleared within seven days at very low concentrations. 2Potential of Industrial Byproducts in Ameliorating Acidity and Aluminum Toxicity of Soils Under Tea Plantation显示文摘It is imperative to choose some low cost,available and effective ameliorants to correct soil acidity in southern China for sustainable agriculture.The present investigation dealt with the possible role of industrial byproducts,i.e.,coal fly ash(CFA),alkaline slag(AS),red mud(RM) and phosphogypsum(PG) in correcting acidity and aluminum(Al) toxicity of soils under tea plantation using an indoor incubation experiment.Results indicated that CFA,AS and RM increased soil pH,while PG decreased the pHs of an Ultisol and an Alfisol.The increment of soil pH followed the order of RM > AS > CFA.All the industrial byproducts invariably decreased exchangeable Al and hence increased exchangeable Ca,Mg,K and Na and effective cation exchange capacity.RM,AS and lime decreased total soluble Al,exchangeable Al and organically bound Al.Formation and retention of hydroxyl-Al polymers were the principal mechanism through which Al phytotoxicity was alleviated by application of these amendments.In addition,the heavy metal contents in the four industrial byproducts constituted a limited environmental hazard in a short time at the rates normally used in agriculture.Therefore,the short-term use of the byproducts,especially AS and RM,as amendments for soil acidity and Al toxicity in acid soils may be a potential alternative to the traditional use of mined gypsum and lime.LI Jiu-Yu WANG Ning XU Ren-Kou D. 3近十年中国地质灾害时空发育规律分析显示文摘本文对中国国土资源部发布的历年《全国地质灾害通报》进行了全面梳理,依托2005-2014年各类地质灾害记录数据详尽分析了研究区域内地质灾害的时空发育规律。六种灾害类别中山体滑坡和崩塌灾害的发育显著性最为明显,泥石流次之,且具有群发性和伴发性特征;地质灾害发育的区域差异性非常显著,文中分别给出了地质灾害高度发育与因灾损失最为严重的省级区域,并分析了各省级区域因灾损失程度和灾害发育总量的关系,但其相关性并不明显;除四川省外,重大地质灾害多发的省份并非灾害总量居高的省份,重大地质灾害的的集中发育时间与极端降雨频发月份基本相符,且统计显示其诱因主要为强降雨;近年来中国地质灾害成功避让起数、灾害避让率和避免死亡人数等预警预报成效逐步提高,但避免直接经济损失的规律性不强,一定程度上突显出遭遇地质灾害时对房屋及基础设施等不动产的保护能力尚显不足。本文的相关结论源自统计数据的直观分析,可为地质灾害防治及预警预报工作提供客观的咨询依据。薛凯喜 胡艳香 邹玉亮 Binod Tiwari 魏永起 顾连胜 2016中国地质灾害与防治学报2016,27,3:21

5Application of ferrate(VI) in the treatment of industrial wastes containing metal-complexed cyanides : A green treatment显示文摘Ferrate(VI) was employed for the oxidation of cyanide (CN) and simultaneous removal of copper or nickel in the mixed/complexed systems of CN-Cu, CN-Ni, or CN-Cu-Ni. The degradation of CN (1.00 mmol/L) and removal of Cu (0.095 mmol/L) were investigated as a function of Fe(VI) doses from 0.3–2.00 mmol/L at pH 10.0. It was found that Fe(VI) could readily oxidize CN and the reduction of Fe(VI) into Fe(III) might serve effciently for the removal of free copper ions. The increase in Fe(VI) dose apparently favoured the CN oxidation as well as Cu removal. Moreover, the pH dependence study (pH 10.0–13.0) revealed that the oxidation of CN was almost unaffected in the studied pH range (10.0–13.0), however, the maximum removal effciency of Cu was obtained at pH 13.0. Similarly, treatment was carried out for CN-Ni system having the initial Ni concentration of 0.170 mmol/L and CN concentration of 1.00 mmol with Fe(VI) dose 2.00 mmol at various pH values (10.0–12.0). Results showed a partial oxidation of CN and partial removal of Ni. It can be observed that Fe(VI) can partially degrade the CN-Ni complex in this pH range. 6Clinically detected gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors are on the rise: Epidemiological changes in Germany显示文摘AIM:To study the epidemiologic changes of gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors(GEP-NET)in Germany,we analyzed two time periods 1976-1988 and1998-2006.METHODS:We evaluated epidemiological data of GEP-NET from the former East German National Cancer Registry(DDR Krebsregister,1976-1988)and its successor,the Joint Cancer Registry(GKR,1998-2006),which was founded after German reunification.Due to a particularly substantial database the epidemiological data from the federal states of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania,Saxony,Brandenburg and Thuringia,covering a population of more than 10.8 million people,were analyzed.Survival probabilities were calculated using life table analysis.In addition,GEP-NET patients were evaluated for one or more second(non-GEP-NET)primary malignancies.RESULTS:A total of 2821 GEP neuroendocrine neoplasms were identified in the two registries.The overall incidence increased significantly between 1976 and2006 from 0.31(per 100.000 inhabitants per year)to2.27 for men and from 0.57 to 2.38 for women.In the later period studied(2004-2006),the small intestine was the most common site.Neuroendocrine(NE)neoplasms of the small intestine showed the largest absolute increase in incidence,while rectal NE neoplasms exhibited the greatest relative increase.Only the incidence of appendiceal NET in women showed little change between 1976 and 2006.Overall survival of patients varied for sex,tumor site and the two periods studied but improved significantly over time.Interestingly,about 20%of the GEP-NET patients developed one or more second malignancies.Their most common location was the gastrointestinal tract.GEP-NET patients without second malignancies fared better than those with one or more of them.CONCLUSION:The number of detected GEP-NET increased about 5-fold in Germany between 1976 and2006.At the same time,their anatomic distribution changed,and the survival of GEP-NET patients improved significantly.Second malignancies are common and influence the overall survival of GEP-NET patients.Thus,GEP-NET warrant our attention as well as intensive research on their tumorigenesis.Hans Scherübl Brigitte Streller Roland Stabenow Hermann Herbst Michael Hopfner Christoph Schwertner Joachim Steinberg Jan Eick Wanda Ring Krishna Tiwari Soren M Zappe 2013World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,47:16
7Association between cag-pathogenicity island in Helicobacter pylori isolates from peptic ulcer,gastric carcinoma,and non-ulcer dyspepsia subjects with histological changes显示文摘AIM: To investigate the presence of the cay-pathogenicity island and the associated histological damage caused by strains with complete cay-PAI and with partial deletions in correlation to the disease status.METHODS: We analyzed the complete cag-PAI of 174representative Helicobacter pylori (H pylori ) clinical isolates obtained from patients with duodenal ulcer,gastric ulcer, gastric cancer, and non-ulcer dyspepsia using eight different oligonucleotide primers viz cagA1,cagA2, cagAP1, cagAP2, cagE, cagT, LEC-1, LEC-2spanning five different loci of the whole cag-PAI by polymerase chain reaction (PCR).RESULTS: The complete screening of the genes comprising the cag-PAI showed that larger proportions of subjects with gastric ulcer (97.8%) inhabited strains with complete cag-PAI, followed by gastric cancer (85.7%),non-ulcer dyspepsia (7.1%), and duodenal ulcer (6.9%),significant differences were found in the percentagedistribution of the genes in all the clinical groups studied.It was found that strains with complete cag-PAI were able to cause severe histological damage than with the partially deleted ones.CONCLUSION: The cay-PAI is a strong virulent marker in the disease pathogenesis as it is shown that a large number of those infected with strain with complete cag-PAI had one or the other of the irreversible gastric pathologies and interestingly 18.5% of them developed gastric carcinoma. The presence of an intact cayPAI correlates with the development of more severe pathology, and such strains were found more frequently in patients with severe gastroduodenal disease. 8单重和多重调谐质量惯容阻尼器控制连体超高层建筑风振响应比较研究显示文摘连体超高层建筑因存在强烈的气动干扰,在强风下可能会出现大幅相对振动,调谐质量惯容阻尼器(TMDI)是一种振动控制装置,其惯容器两端的相对加速度较大时,TMDI振动控制效果较好。结合两者各自的特点提出了多重调谐质量惯容阻尼器(MTMDI)控制连体超高层建筑的风振响应,两个TMDI分别控制两栋建筑各自的一阶自振频率。首先建立了MTMDI控制连体超高层建筑风致响应数学模型,然后开展了某连体超高层建筑的刚性模型同步测压风洞试验;最后,基于该数学模型和测压风洞试验结果分析了该连体建筑在分别安装两个和单个TMDI对风振加速度和位移响应的减振效果。研究结果表明:虽然两个TMDI的总质量和总惯容量比单个TMDI相应的参数小,但两者的减振效果基本相同,两者都能有效地减小两栋建筑在各个风向角下的加速度响应,如在270°风向角下,安装TMDI后两栋建筑顶层加速度响应分别减小了37.5%和50.0%;对于位移响应,两者都可以减小高栋建筑的响应,其对低栋建筑在少部分风向角下的减振效果并不理想。王钦华 雷伟 祝志文 TIWARI Nayan Deep 2021建筑结构学报2021,42,4:10
9Over expression of resistin in adipose tissue of the obese induces insulin resistance显示文摘AIM: To compare resistin mRNA expression in subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) and its correlation with insulin resistance (IR) in postmenopausal obese women. METHODS: A total of 68 postmenopausal women (non obese = 34 and obese = 34) were enrolled for the study. The women of the two groups were age matched (49-70 years). Fasting blood samples were collected at admission and abdominal SAT was obtained during surgery for gall bladder stones or hysterectomy. Physical parameters [age, height, weight, body mass index (BMI)] were measured. Biochemical (plasma insulin and plasma glucose) parameters were estimated by enzymatic methods. RNA was isolated by the Trizol method.SAT resistin mRNA expression was done by real time- reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) by using Quanti Tect SYBR Green RT-PCR master mix. Data was analyzed using independent Student's t test, correlation and simple linear regression analysis. RESULTS: The mean weight (52.81 ± 8.04 kg vs 79.56 ± 9.91 kg; P < 0.001), BMI (20.23 ± 3.05 kg/m 2 vs 32.19 ± 4.86 kg/m 2 ; P < 0.001), insulin (8.47 ± 3.24 U/mL vs 14.67 ± 2.18 U/mL; P < 0.001), glucose (97.44 ± 11.31 mg/dL vs 109.67 ± 8.02 mg/dL; P < 0.001) and homeostasis model assessment index (2.01 ± 0.73 vs 3.96 ± 0.61; P < 0.001) were significantly higher in postmenopausal obese women compared to postmenopausal non obese women. The mean serum resistin level was also significantly higher in postmeno-pausal obese women compared to postmenopausal non obese women (9.05 ± 5.15 vs 13.92 ± 6.32, P < 0.001). Furthermore, the mean SAT resistin mRNA expression was also significantly (0.023 ± 0.008 vs 0.036 ± 0.009; P < 0.001) higher and over expressed 1.62 fold (upregulated) in postmenopausal obese women compared to postmenopausal non obese women. In postmeno-pausal obese women, the relative SAT resistin mRNA expression showed positive (direct) and significant correlation with BMI (r = 0.78, P < 0.001) and serum resistin (r = 0.76, P < 0.001). Furthermore, the SAT resistin mRNA expression in postmenopausal obese women also showed significant and direct association (r = 0.45, P < 0.01) with IR, while in postmenopausal non obese women it did not show any association (r = -0.04, P > 0.05). 11Novel targeting approaches and signaling pathways of colorectal cancer: An insight显示文摘Colorectal cancer(CRC) is the third most common cancer of mortality in the world. Chemotherapy based treatment leads to innumerable side effects as it delivers the anticancer drug to both normal cells besides cancer cells. Sonic Hedgehog(SHH), Wnt wingless-type mouse mammary tumor virus/β-catenin, transforming growth factor-β/SMAD, epidermal growth factor receptor and Notch are the main signaling pathways involved in the progression of CRC. Targeted therapies necessitate information regarding the particular aberrant pathways. Advancements in gene therapies have resulted in the recognition of novel therapeutic targets related with these signal-transduction cascades. CRC is a stepwise process where mutations occur over the time and activation of oncogenes and deactivation of tissue suppressor genes takes place. Genetic changes which are responsible for the induction of carcinogenesis include loss of heterozygosity in tumor suppressor genes such as adenomatous polyposis coli, mutation or deletion of genes like p53 and K-ras. Therefore, many gene-therapy approaches like gene correction, virusdirected enzyme-prodrug therapy, immunogenetic manipulation and virotherapy are currently being explored. Development of novel strategies for the safe and effective delivery of drugs to the cancerous site is the need of the hour. 12Low-cost high entropy alloy(HEA)for high-efficiency oxygen evolution reaction(OER)显示文摘Oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is the key step involved both in water splitting devices and rechargeable metal-air batteries,and hence,there is an urgent need for a stable and low-cost material for efficient OER.In the present investigation,Co-Fe-Ga-NiZn(CFGNZ)high entropy alloy(HEA)has been utilized as a low-cost electrocatalyst for OER.Herein,after cyclic voltammetry activation,CFGNZ-nanoparticles(NPs)are covered with oxidized surface and form high entropy(oxy)hydroxides(HEOs),exhibiting a low overpotential of 370 mV to achieve a current density of 10 mA/cm^(2)with a small Tafel slope of 71 mV/dec.CFGNZ alloy has higher electrochemical stability in comparison to state-of-the art RuO2 electrocatalyst as no degradation has been observed up to 10 h of chronoamperometry.Transmission electron microscopy(TEM)studies after 10 h of long-term chronoamperometry test showed no change in the crystal structure,which confirmed the high stability of CFGNZ.The density functional theory(DFT)based calculations show that the closeness of d(p)-band centers to the Fermi level(EF)plays a major role in determining active sites.This work highlights the tremendous potential of CFGNZ HEA for OER,which is the primary reaction involved in water splitting.Lalita Sharma Nirmal Kumar Katiyar Arko Parui Rakesh Das Ritesh Kumar Chandra Sekhar Tiwary Abhisek K.Singh Aditi Halder Krishanu Biswas 2022Nano Research2022,15,6:5

14Effect of ionic strength on adsorption of As(Ⅲ) and As(V) on variable charge soils显示文摘The study was to investigate the adsorption behavior of arsenite (As(III)) and arsenate (As(V)) on two variable charge soils, i.e., Haplic Acrisol and Rhodic Ferralsol at dierent ionic strengths and pH with batch methods. Results indicated that the amount of As(III) adsorbed by these two soils increased with increasing solution pH, whereas it decreased with increasing ionic strength under the acidic condition. This suggested that As(III) was mainly adsorbed on soil positive charge sites through electrostatic attraction under the acidic condition. Moreover, intersects of As(V) adsorption-pH curves at dierent ionic strengths (a characteristic pH) are obtained for both soils. It was noted that above this pH, the adsorption of As(V) was increased with increasing ionic strength, whereas below it the reverse trend was true. Precisely the intersect pH was 3.6 for Haplic Acrisol and 4.5 for Rhodic Ferralsol, which was near the values of PZSE (soil point of zero salt eect) of these soils. The eects of ionic strength and pH on arsenate adsorption by these soils were interpreted by the adsorption model. The results of zeta potential suggested that the potential in adsorption plane becomes less negative with increasing ionic strength above soil PZSE and decreases with increasing ionic strength below soil PZSE. These results further supported the hypothesis of the adsorption model that the potential in the adsorption plane changes with ionic strength with an opposite trend to surface charge of the soils. 15Robotic assisted Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy in a post-cholecystectomy type E2 bile duct injury显示文摘Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy anastomosis is the treatment of choice for common hepatic duct injury type E2.It has been performed laparoscopically with the advancement of laparoscopic skill.Recently,a telemanipulative robotic surgical system was introduced,providing laparoscopic instruments with wrist-arm technology and 3-dimensional visualization of theoperative field.We present a case of 36-year-old female patient who had undergone elective cholecystectomy2 mo ago for gall stones and had a common bile duct injury during surgery.As the stricture was old and complete it could not be tackled endoscopically.We did a laparoscopic assisted adhesiolysis followed by robotic Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy.No intraoperative complications or technical problems were encountered.Postoperative period was uneventful and she was discharged on the 4th postoperative day.At followup,she is doing well without evidence of jaundice or cholangitis.This is the first reported case of robotic hepaticojejunostomy following common bile duct injury.The hybrid technique gives the patient benefit of laparoscopic adhesiolysis and robotic suturing.Arun Prasad Sudipto De Purak Mishra Abhishek Tiwari 2015World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,6:5

17Plant endemism in the Nepal Himalayas and phytogeographical implications显示文摘Nepal is located in the central part of the greater Himalayan range with a unique series of mountain chains formed by recent mountain building geological events. As one of the youngest mountains in the world it contributes to diversity of plants and also provided barriers to and corridors through which plants migrated during the ice ages. The higher altitudinal variation with the high mountains, deep river valleys and lowland plains combine with the effects of the summer monsoon and dry winter result with an extraordinary diversity of ecosystems including flora and fauna in a relatively small land area. The existing checklists for Nepal record some 6000 species of flowering plants and about 530 ferns. However, the botanical experts estimate that numbers may go up to 7000 when the poorly known remote regions are fully explored. The information on plant endemism in Nepal Himalaya is not adequately known as Nepal is still struggling to complete long awaited Flora of Nepal project. Endemic species are confined to specific areas and are the first to be affected by land use and other global changes. We sought to explore the spatial distribution of endemic plant species in Nepal in relation to the consequences associated with climatic and geologic changes over time in the region with the help of published literature. It was found that the endemism showed marked spatial variation between open moist habitat and dry inner valleys, the former with higher endemism. The updated records showed 312 flowering plant species to be endemic to Nepal with higher endemism around the elevation of 3800e4200 m at sea level. The recent human population explosion, intensified deforestation, habitat fragmentation and modern day environmental changes are posing greater threats to endemic plant in Nepal. The conservation status and threats to these peculiar species are unknown. 18The role of serratiopeptidase in the resolution of inflammation显示文摘Inflammation remains a key event during most of the diseases and physiological imbalance. Acute inflammation is an essential physiological event by immune system for a protective measure to remove cause of inflammation and failure of resolution lead to chronic inflammation. Over a period of time, a number of drugs mostly chemical have been deployed to combat acute and chronic inflammation. Recently, enzyme based anti-inflammatory drugs became popular over conventional chemical based drugs. Serratiopeptidase, a proteolytic enzyme from trypsin family, possesses tremendous scope in combating inflammation. Serine protease possesses a higher affinity for cyclooxygenase(COX-Ⅰ and COX-Ⅱ), a key enzyme associated with production of different inflammatory mediators including interleukins(IL),prostaglandins(PGs) and thromboxane(TXs) etc. Currently, arthritis, sinusitis, bronchitis,fibrocystic breast disease, and carpal tunnel syndrome, etc. are the leading inflammatory disorders that affected the entire the globe. In order to conquer inflammation, both acute and chronic world, physician mostly relies on conventional drugs. The most common drugs to combat acute inflammation are Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs) alone and or in combination with other drugs. However, during chronic inflammation, NSAIDs are often used with steroidal drugs such as autoimmune disorders. These drugs possess several limitations such as side effects, ADR, etc. In order to overcome these limitations and complications, enzyme based drugs(anti-inflammatory) emerged, and aim for a new high since the last decade. Serine protease, the largest proteolytic family has been reported for several therapeutic applications, including anti-inflammatory. Serratiopeptidase is a leading enzyme which has a very long history in medical as an effective anti-inflammatory drug. Current study emphasizes present scenario and future prospect of serratiopeptidase as an antiinflammatory drug. 19Cancer chemoprevention through dietary avonoids: what's limiting?显示文摘Flavonoids are polyphenols that are found in numerous edible plant species. Data obtained from preclinical and clinical studies suggest that specific flavonoids are chemo-preventive and cytotoxic against various cancers via a multitude of mechanisms. However, the clinical use of flavonoids is limited due to challenges associated with their e ective use, including(1) the isolation and purification of flavonoids from their natural resources;(2) demonstration of the e ects of flavonoids in reducing the risk of certain cancer, in tandem with the cost and time needed for epidemiological studies, and(3) numerous pharmacokinetic challenges(e.g., bioavailability, drug–drug interactions, and metabolic instability). Currently, numerous approaches are being used to surmount some of these challenges, thereby increasing the likelihood of flavonoids being used as chemo-preventive drugs in the clinic. 20Glucose 6 phosphatase dehydrogenase (G6PD) and neurodegenerative disorders:Mapping diagnostic and therapeutic opportunities显示文摘Glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase(G6PD)is a key and rate limiting enzyme in the pentose phosphate pathway(PPP).The physiological significance of enzyme is providing reduced energy to specific cells like erythrocyte by maintaining co-enzyme nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate(NADPH).There are preponderance research findings that demonstrate the enzyme(G6PD)role in the energy balance,and it is associated with bloodrelated diseases and disorders,primarily the anemia resulted from G6PD deficiency.The Xlinked genetic deficiency of G6PD and associated non-immune hemolytic anemia have been studied widely across the globe.Recent advancement in biology,more precisely neuroscience has revealed that G6PD is centrally involved in many neurological and neurodegenerative disorders.The neuroprotective role of the enzyme(G6PD)has also been established,as well as the potential of G6PD in oxidative damage and the Reactive Oxygen Species(ROS)produced in cerebral ischemia.Though G6PD deficiency remains a global health issue,however,a paradigm shift in research focusing the potential of the enzyme in neurological and neurodegenerative disorders will surely open a new avenue in diagnostics and enzyme therapeutics.Here,in this study,more emphasis was made on exploring the role of G6PD in neurological and inflammatory disorders as well as non-immune hemolytic anemia,thus providing diagnostic and therapeutic opportunities.Manju Tiwari 2017Genes & Diseases2017,4,4:4
