1Modeling Yin-Yang Balance in Tai-Chi Diagram with a Melting-Freezing Rotating Device显示文摘This paper develops a physical model describing the Yin-Yang balance in the tai-chi diagram via the melting and freezing processes taking place in a rotating device. First, a physical model is established for a melting and freezing rotating device applied for transferring heat from a heat source to a heat sink. The device consists of two concentric cylinders with a phase change material being filled between them. During the melting process, heat is supplied from the heat source to the device, and the phase change material in the device melts. The melting process is equivalent to yang in the tai-chi diagram. During the freezing process, heat is discharged from the device to the heat sink, and the phase change material in the device freezes. The freezing process is equivalent to yin in the tai- chi diagram. The moving phase boundaries of the melting and freezing processes form two curves, representing the interface curves between the yin and yang in the tai-chi diagram. The variation of the thermal strength in the heat source and heat sink represents the variation of the yin -yang balance in the tai-chi diagram.SuiLin Tzu-FangChen 2001Journal of Thermal Science2001,10,4:5

The system of equations formulating the melting and freezing processes is transformed to a dimensionless form. The advantage of dimensionless equations not only reduces a significant number of parameters involved in the problem but also provides physical insight of the Tai-chi diagram. 5Similarity of Heat Transfer on Heat Source Elements in the Entrance Region in Electronic Equipment显示文摘A similarity equation for heat transfer on heat source elements situated in the entrance region in electronic equipment is developed based on the experimental data obtained by Sparrow et al.[4]. The characteristic of the similarity equation is that the ratio of the heat transfer coefficient at the entrance region to be at the fully developed region is independent of the Reynolds number. It depends only on the row number of the elements situated in the entrance region. 19Homogenization Function of Microchannel on Heat Absorber with Compound Parabolic Concentrator显示文摘Microchannels offer unique advantages on heat transfer performance. In this paper, microchannels are applied to the compound parabolic concentrator(CPC) system. A multi-physical field coupling model based on Finite Element Method is proposed to investigate the homogenization effect of the microchannel heat absorber on the CPC non-uniform concentration. The energy conversion process from optics to heat is simulated using TracePro software, and the heat transfer processes in the microchannel are computed by Fluent using user defined functions(UDF). It is found that the microchannels behave well on weakening the influence of the nonuniformity solar heat flux on the performance of the CPC. The temperature nonuniformity of the outlet section is less than 10^(-3) in the direction of fluid flow caused by the microchannel, although the maximum surface heat flux inhomogeneity of the microchannel reaches 2.3. The peak value of the heat flux on the surface of the absorber changes from double peak to single peak, and moves to the edge, resulting in more uneven heat flux distribution with the increase of the incident angle within the acceptance semi-angle of the CPC. The result of TracePro clearly shows that when the concentration ratio is less than 5, the heat flux nonuniformity on the surface of the absorber decreases with the increase in concentration ratio. It was interestingly found that the temperature distribution of the heat transfer fluid has weak sensitivity to the changes of truncation ratio.
