Structural Performance Evaluation Procedure for Large Flexible Airship of HALE Stratospheric Platform Conception显示文摘Basic loads applied on the airship envelope were analyzed. The resultant forces, the static bending moment and the dynamic bending moment were formulated.Based on classic linear elastic membrane theory, the procedures to calculate the minimum pressure were proposed for sufficient rigidity evaluation. The limit load capacity was further investigated, and the related formula were developed. Finally, the stress and internal forces analysis was carried out for cylindrical and non-cylindrical approximations of envelope hull of airship. The present research is very valuable to the overall preliminary design of airship and further research.陈务军 肖微微 Bernd Krplin Andreas KunzeInst.of Static and Dynamic for Aerospace Structures Univ.of Stuttgart Germany 2007Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong university(Science)2007,12,2:8
Lattice Distortion Analysis Directly from High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy Images —the LADIA Program Package显示文摘Direct strain mapping from high resolution transmission electron microscopy images is possible for coherent structures. At proper imaging conditions the intensity peaks in the image have a constant spatial relationship with the projected atom columns. This allows the determination of the geometry of the projected unit cell without comparison with image simulations. The fast procedure is particularly suited for the analysis of large areas. The software package LADIA is written in the PV-WAVE code and provides all necessary tools for image processing and analysis. Image intensity peaks are determined by a cross-correlation technique, which avoids problems from noise in the low spatial frequency range. The lower limit of strain that can be detected at a sampling rate of 44 pixels/nm is≈2%.Y.Rau, N.Y.Jin-Phillipp and F.PhillippMax-Planck-Institut fiir Metallforschung, Heisenbergstrasse 1, Stuttgart, D-70569, Germany 2002Journal of Materials Science & Technology2002,18,2:2

Reconstruction of Complex Materials by Integral Geometric Measures显示文摘The goal of much research in computational materials science is to quantify necessary morphological information and then to develop stochastic models which both accurately reflect the material morphology and allow one to estimate macroscopic physical properties. A novel method of characterizing the morphology of disordered systems is presented based on the evolution of a family of integral geometric measures during erosion and dilation operations. The method is used to determine the accuracy of model reconstructions of random systems. It is shown that the use of erosion/dilation operations on the original image leads to a more accurate discrimination of morphology than previous methods.Klaus R.MeckeMax-Planck-Institut fur Metallforschung, Heisenbergstr.1, D-70569 Stuttgart, Institut fur Theoretische und Angewandte Physik, Fakultat fiir Physik Universitat Stuttgart, Pfaffenwaldring 57, D-70569 Stuttgart, Germany 2002Journal of Materials Science & Technology2002,18,2:1

What is Going on in a Critical Thermosyphon?显示文摘Critically filled thermosyphons for heat transport differ in size and temperature distribution from critically filled testcells for property research. Consequently, the thermodynamic states within a thermosyphon are distributed more heterogeneously. In a glass thermosyphon, flows and phase distributions were observed. A break down of the heat transport mechanism was found as a consequence of flooding the cooling region with liquid. Observed and explained-by use of a density/pressure diagram-were the effects of heating, of pressure and of fluid quantity on the distribution of the phases, the appearance of pulsations and the propagation of a heat pulse near the critical state.E. 14New horizons in genetics and nutrition显示文摘From the emergence of the genus 'homo' over 2 million years age, until the agricultrural revoution of roughly 10. 000 years age our ancestors were hunter-gatherers,so the adaptive pressures inherent in that environmental niche have exerted defining influence on human genetic make up. The portion of our genome that determines basic anatomy and physio1ogy has remained relatively unchanged over the past 40. 000 years. Consequently, the complex interrelationship between energy intake, energy expenditure and specific physical activity requirements for current humans remains very similar to that orginally selected for stone age men and women who lived by gathering and hunting. The hypothesis set forth by Eaton and Konner suggests that our genes, adapted over millions of years to the lifestyle of our prehis toric ancestors oprly tolerate the dramatic changes in our medern Iifestyle like stress, reduced physical activity, consumption of chemi cals including drugs; the profound alteration in our ha habits having occurred over the past few hundred years, fat consumption having increased from about 20 % of energy intake in the 1 850ies to about 50% toclay. It is calculated that the diet of our Paleolithic forefathers contained 5 to 10 times as much fiber as does the contemporary diet,5 to 10 times as much - 3 fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants and up to 3 times as much protein. In contrast modern ha contains lo to 2O times as much whium salts and at least 4 times as much saturated fats. These changes in diet together with smoking, hypertension, obesity and intolerance have conspired to create the present epidemic of chronic diseases which account for more than half of all deaths and huge health costS in affluent Western countries.Simultaneously with these dramatic changes data from around the wold indicate that the incidence and prevalence of chronic diseases vary among individuals, families and nations. Inded, the susceptibility to chronic diseases such as coronary artere diseases, hypertension, diabetes, obesty, osteoporesis, cancer etc. is to a great extent ggnetically determined. The health status of an individual is the preduct of the interaction of the ggnetic endowment, age, nutrition and many other aspects of physical and cultural environment.Genetically medified raw material may facilitate a fow ast manufacturing of pnductS with enhanced nutritional and health quality. Parallel conventhaally pnduced 'functboal bos ee and 'health haxls' will be available. Yet,dopite of all availabe 'health foods'the future human being may rernain a victim of his genes. Strategies for prevention and therapy of nutritborelated dbo might include nutritive-caloric intervention combined with genome-specific nutrition (genesspeific contro of expreSSbo). The gEnetic nutritive interventbo will be facilitated by genome analySes and functional genomics, the key genes(individual genomes) will be analySed by the gene-chip techniqUe, thereby polyrnorphism for an individual predisposition will be identified.Peter Ftirst, MD, PhD, (University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany(德国) 2000中国临床营养杂志2000,8,1:0
Glutamine-(dipeptides)-an update显示文摘A) What should be known about supplemental glutamine-(dipeptides) ?In numerous controled clinical trials it could be convincingly demonstrated that supp1emental glutamine- (di pep t ide ) nutrt ion was associated with improved nitrogen balance and mdri; increased protein synthesis and lyTnphocyte count (total and subpopulation); maintained intestinal function, intracellular muscel free glutamine Pool, gut permeability and function, reduced 3MeHis excretion, morbidity, length of hoSPital stay and sepsis frequency. A current European multi center study with ala-gln provides convincing evidence that the clinical use of glutamine dipeptide spares nitrogen and shortens length of hospital stay as compared with the controls. The infusion of the glutamine containing dipeptide soution was free of any side effects, and recovery was normal for each patient. Provision of glutamine- (dipepti de ) should be consi dered as a replacement of a de fic iency rat her t han a supplement. This implies that the beneficial effects observed are due to a correction of disadvantages preduced by an inadequacy of conventional nutrition.B)What is new in glutamine (dipeptide) research?1)It is pu^ed that tissue g1utathione synthesis is a crucial factor in causing reversal of the clinical, biochemical signs of critical illness, a condition associated with decreased glutathione status. lndeed, the decreased ratio GSH/Gase suggests oxidative stress in the tissues. In the future, glutamine containing dipeptides will certainly serve as a means to maintain and/or restore tissue glutathione con centrations.2)Modification of the endogenous inflammatory response:attenuation of the elaboration of prcrinnammatory mediators, upregulation of antiinflammatory factors, improved immune respo~. Studies are in progress showing that supplemental glutamine containing dipeptides decrease cytotoxicity and the synthesis of TNFo and IL8 while they enhance the ability to express the anti-innammatory ILlo. An encouraging persPeCtive is the novel finding that provision of alanyl-glutamine promotes the synthesis of cysteinyl-leukotrienes and that the capacity to generate cysteinylleukorienes is miated with the outcome, serving as a biomarker for survival. The question might be raisd, whether the combined deficiency of gluathione and glutamine is intrinsically related to the leukotriene synthesizing capacity of the sick cell. These factors might be mediated.through enhanced synthesis of glutathione.3) Growth factors glutamine- (dipeptide ) interactionrepresents a nwe strategy to enhance the efficacy of glutamine-(dipeptide) nutrition. Growth factors to consider: human growth hormone,insulin-like growth factor 1 and epidermal growth factor 4) A novel method enabling accurate measurements of protein-bound glutamine in protein or peptide-based enteral diets. The knowedge of glutamine content in various proteins facilitates revision of tissue/organ glutamine kinetics. C)How to use glutamine (dipeptides) in routine clinicial setting?Major questions: which patients ,when to start, how much, how long to administer, which route of administration, how to monitor efficacy?Outlook Future implicatdris of glutamine (dipeptide) therapy are full of promise. A consistent observation is that glutamine (dipeptide)enriched Parenteral feecling attenuates the stressinduced expansion of extracellular and total they water membrane function and thereby changing the cellular hydration state. ExPerimental studies suggest that glutamine availability is an essential factor during conditions aareiated with gluare intolerance, blunting insulin action on glucose preduction and enhanced iusulin-mediated g1ucose uti1ization. A further fascinating approach proopes glutamine (dipePtides) as a suitable cardioprotective and rescue agent. The mechanism through which glutamine exera its beneficial effects may involve maintenance of myoCardial glutamate and thus glutathione as well as myocardial high energy phocphates and prevention of myocardial lactate accumulation. Supplemental glutamine (dipeptide) might thusPeter Furst, MD, PhD, (University of Hohenheim, Institute of Biological Chemistry & Nutrition, Stuttgart(德国) 2000中国临床营养杂志2000,8,1:0
Magnetothermal Analysis of Nanocrystallization of Amorphous and Relaxations of Nanocrystalline Materials显示文摘For a few years it has been realized that nanocrystalline phases can be formed during crystallization of amorphous alloys annealed isothermally below the crystallization temperature of usual heating experiments. Data of this transformation monitored by the measurement of magnetic susceptibility are presented. A method using a magnetic balance with electronic stabilisation and combined computer facilities is applied. Constant heating and cooling rates as well as isothermal heat treatments are used. Magnetic measurements are able to detect the onset of the transformation of amorphous Ni-P alloys much earlier than was possible with differential scanning calorimetry. The transformation kinetics can be analyzed by means of the Avrami plot based on the Johnson-Mehl-Avrami equation. The kinetics of solid state reactions in the nanostructured material can be investigated similarly. Formation of a Ni-phase in a nanostructured Hf-Ni alloy could be detected in a very early stage, where calorimetric methods are not sensitive. Segregation phenomena could be detected from the experiments even after long time. The sensitivity of the applied method is not dependent on the heating rate as the sensitivity of scanning calorimetryReinhard L■ck(Max-Planck-Institut fur Metallforschung, Institut fur Werkstoffwissechaft,Seestraβe 75,D-70174 Stuttgart, Germany) 1997Journal of Materials Science & Technology1997,13,4:0
BOTTOM SHEAR STRESS PATTERN AND ITS ECOLOGICAL IMPACT显示文摘The interaction between river bed morphology at different scales and the discharge is one of the key factors for running Water ecosystems and their habitats. In a first approach different habitats for fish, benthic species and vegetation communities can be described as combinations of physical parameters, such as bottom shear stress, local depth and local flow velocity, and substratum. Species demands regarding those physical habitat factors are partially known. From an ecological point of view the temporal and spatial variability of those factores must be included. Computer simulation models have been developed for the ecological evaluation of instream flow regulations in diverted streams and for the investigation of general morphological and hydraulic patterns in running waters. In this study these models are used for benthic habitat quality and availability evaluation as functions of river morphology and discharge. Methods and some results of a case study on instream flow regulations are presented in this paper.Klaus JORDE Insitute of Hydraulic Engineering. 18Interfacial Electronic Structure of Thin Cu Films Grown on Ar^+-ion Sputter-cleaned α-Al_2O_3 Substrates显示文摘The bonding and electronic structure of Cu/(0001)Al2O3 and Cu/(1120)Al2O3 interfaces has been studied experimentally using spatially-resolved transmission electron energy loss spectroscopy. The specimen were prepared by depositing Cu on single-crystal α-AI2O3 substrates, which have been Ar+-ion sputter-cleaned prior to the growth of Cu. For both orientations of the α-Al2O3 substrate, atomically abrupt interfaces formed as determined by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. The investigations of the interfacial Cu-L2,3, Al-L2,3 and 0-K energy loss near-edge structures, which are proportional to the site- and angular-momentum-projected unoccupied density of states above the Fermi level, indicate the existence of metallic Cu-AI bonds at the Cu/AI2O3 interface independent of the substrate orientation.Christina Scheu, Min Gao and Manfred RuhleMax-Planck-Institut fur Metallforschung, Seestr. 92, 70174 Stuttgart, Germany 2002Journal of Materials Science & Technology2002,18,2:0
Stress in Thin Films; Diffraction Elastic Constants and Grain Interaction显示文摘Untextured bulk polycrystals usually possess macroscopically isotropic elastic properties whereas for most thin films transverse isotropy is expected, owing to the limited dimensionality. The usually applied models for the calculation of elastic constants of polycrystals from single crystal elastic constants (so-called grain interaction models) erroneously predict macroscopic isotropy for an (untextured) thin film. This paper presents a summary of recent work where it has been demonstrated for the first time by X-ray diffraction analysis of stresses in thin films that elastic grain interaction can lead to macroscopically elastically anisotropic behaviour (shown by non-linear sin2ψ plots). A new grain interaction model, predicting the macroscopically anisotropic behaviour of thin films, is proposed.U.Welzel, M.Leoni, P.Lamparter and E.J.MittemeijerMax Planck Institute for Metals Research, Seestrasse 92, D-70174 Stuttgart, Germany 2002Journal of Materials Science & Technology2002,18,2:0
Spatially Resolved Analytical Electron Microscopy at Grain Boundaries of α-Al_2O_3显示文摘In this work the electronic structure and the impurity excess of the basal and rhombohedral twin grain boundaries are investigated, using electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDXS). The measurability of electronic structures of the twin grain boundaries are discussed by comparing theoretical density of states (DOS) from bulk material with interfacial DOS, obtained from local density functional theory (LDFT) calculations.S.Nufer, A.G.Marinopoulos, C.Elsasser, W.Kurtz and M.RuhleMax-Planck-Institut fur Metallforschung, Seestr. 92, D-70174 Stuttgart, Germany 2002Journal of Materials Science & Technology2002,18,2:0
