| 1 | Resveratrol: A potential challenger against gastric cancer显示文摘Gastric cancer(GC) is the fourth most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related mortality in the world. Late diagnosis and classical therapeutic approaches such as surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy make this disease a still threatening tumor.Genetic asset, environmental stress, dietary habit and infections caused by Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) arethe major causes concurring to GC initiation. A common mechanism is induction of radicals resulting in gastric mucosal injury. A regular food intake of antioxidant and radical scavenging agents has been proposed to exert protection against tumorigenesis. Resveratrol belongs to the polyphenol flavonoids class of antioxidants produced by a restricted number of plants. Resveratrol exerts bactericidal activity against H. pylori and is a powerful antioxidant, thus acting as a tumor preventive agent.Resveratrol intracellular signaling results in growth arrest and apoptosis, so that it can be directed against tumor progression. | 2 | Magnetic resonance imaging after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction:A practical guide显示文摘Anterior cruciate ligament(ACL) reconstruction is one of the most common orthopedic procedures performed worldwide. In this regard, magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) represents a useful pre-operative tool to confirm a disruption of the ACL and to assess for potential associated injuries. However, MRI is also valuable postoperatively, as it is able to identify, in a non-invasive way, a number of aspects and situations that could suggest potential problems to clinicians. Graft signal and integrity, correct tunnel placement, tunnel widening, and problems with fixation devices or the donor site could all compromise the surgical outcomes and potentially predict the failure of the ACL reconstruction. Furthermore, several anatomical features of the knee could be associated to worst outcomes or higher risk of failure. | 3 | Evaluation of anterior and posterior surfaces of the cornea using a dual Scheimpflug analyzer in keratoconus patients implanted with intrastromal corneal ring segments显示文摘AIM:To evaluate corneal parameters measured with a dual Scheimpflug analyzer in keratoconus patients implanted with intrastromal corneal ring segments(ICRS).METHODS:Fifty eyes of 40 keratoconus patients had Ferrara ICRS implantation from November 2010 to April2014.Uncorrected visual acuity(UCVA),best corrected visual acuity(BCVA),refraction,keratometry,asphericity,elevation,pachymetry,root mean square(RMS),spherical aberration and coma were studied.All patients were evaluated using a dual Scheimpflug system.RESULTS:The mean follow-up time after the procedure was 12.7mo.The mean UCVA improved from0.82 to 0.31(P<0.001);the mean BCVA improved from0.42 to 0.05(P<0.0001),the mean spherical refraction changed from-3.06 ±3.80 D to-0.80 ±2.5 D(P<0.0001)and the mean refraction astigmatism reduced from-4.51 ±2.08 D to-2.26±1.18 D(P<0.0001).The changes from preoperative to postoperative,in parameters of the anterior and posterior surface of the cornea,were statistically significant except the elevation posterior at the apex of the cornea and posterior asphericity.CONCLUSION:The implantation of Ferrara ICRS induces changes in both anterior and posterior surfaces of the cornea. | Leonardo Torquetti Carlos Arce Jesus Merayo-Lloves Guilherme Ferrara Paulo Ferrara Breenno Signorelli Armando Signorelli | 2016 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2016，9，9： | 3 |
