1Experimental study on burning rate of small scale heptane pool fires显示文摘Burning characteristics of small scale thin-layer n-heptane pool fires were experimentally studied.Flame height,burning rate and fuel temperature distribution of pool fires with different diameters were measured.Fuel surface temperature and wall heat flux were analyzed.Four typical burning phases,which include pre-burning,quasi-steady state burning,boiling burning and decaying phases,are revealed based on the experimental data and phenomenological analysis.It is shown that flame height and burning rate of boiling burning phase are both significantly greater than those of quasi-steady state burning phase.Fuel surface temperature rises to boiling point rapidly in the early stage of pool fire,and then remains almost unchanged.Boiling burning will occur when the wall temperature is not less than the fuel boiling point.KANG QuanSheng LU ShouXiang CHEN Bing 2010Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,10:10
2Microstructure of premixed propane/air flame in the transition from laminar to turbulent combustion显示文摘In order to explore the flame structure and propagation behavior of premixed propane/air in the transi-tion from laminar to turbulent combustion, the high speed camera and Schlieren images methods were used to record the photograph of flame propagation process in a semi-vented pipe. Meanwhile, the super-thin thermocouple and ionization current probe methods were applied to detect the temperature distribution and reaction intensity of combustion reaction. The characteristics of propane/air flame propagation and microstructure were analyzed in detail by the experimental results coupled with chemical reaction thermodynamics. In the test, the particular tulip flame behavior and the formation process in the laminar-turbulent transition were disclosed clearly. 3Analysis of flame spread over aviation kerosene显示文摘Flame spread behaviors and temperature rise of fuel surface were experimentally investigated. A series of tests on aviation kerosene pool fires were conducted by using the schlieren image system, micro-thermocouple and infrared thermal imager. The velocity evolutions of flame spread and surface flow under different initial fuel temperatures were discussed. 4Oxygen‑Deficient β‑MnO_(2)@Graphene Oxide Cathode for High‑Rate and Long‑Life Aqueous Zinc Ion Batteries显示文摘Recent years have witnessed a booming interest in grid-scale electrochemical energy storage,where much attention has been paid to the aqueous zinc ion batteries(AZIBs).Among various cathode materials for AZIBs,manganese oxides have risen to prominence due to their high energy density and low cost.However,sluggish reaction kinetics and poor cycling stability dictate against their practical application.Herein,we demonstrate the combined use of defect engineering and interfacial optimization that can simultaneously promote rate capability and cycling stability of MnO_(2) cathodes.β-MnO_(2) with abundant oxygen vacancies(VO)and graphene oxide(GO)wrapping is synthesized,in which VO in the bulk accelerate the charge/discharge kinetics while GO on the surfaces inhibits the Mn dissolution.This electrode shows a sustained reversible capacity of~129.6 mAh g^(−1) even after 2000 cycles at a current rate of 4C,outperforming the state-of-the-art MnO_(2)-based cathodes.The superior performance can be rationalized by the direct interaction between surface VO and the GO coating layer,as well as the regulation of structural evolution ofβ-MnO_(2) during cycling.The combinatorial design scheme in this work offers a practical pathway for obtaining high-rate and long-life cathodes for AZIBs.Shouxiang Ding Mingzheng Zhang Runzhi Qin Jianjun Fang Hengyu Ren Haocong Yi Lele Liu Wenguang Zhao Yang Li Lu Yao Shunning Li Qinghe Zhao Feng Pan 2021Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,11:3
5Single-step chemistry model and transport coefficient model for hydrogen combustion显示文摘To satisfy the needs of large-scale hydrogen combustion and explosion simulation,a method is presented to establish single-step chemistry model and transport model for fuel-air mixture.If the reaction formula for hydrogen-air mixture is H2+0.5O2→H2O,the reaction rate model is ?? =1.13×10?5[H2][O2]exp(?46.37T0/T) mol(cm3 s)?1,and the transport coefficient model is ?=K/CP=ρD=7.0×10?5T 0.7 g(cm s)?1.By using current models and the reference model to simulate steady Zeldovich-von Neumann-Doering(ZND) wave and free-propagating laminar flame,it is found that the results are well agreeable.Additionally,deflagration-to-detonation transition in an obstructed channel was also simulated.The numerical results are also well consistent with the experimental results.These provide a reasonable proof for current method and new models.WEN Jennifer WANG ChangJian LU ShouXiang GUO Jin 2012Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,8:3
6Experimental Study on Elevated Fires in a Ceiling Vented Compartment显示文摘The impacts of elevation on fires in a ceiling vented compartment were investigated experimentally. The flame behavior of elevated fires was recorded. Various parameters including the fuel mass loss rate, the light extinction coefficient, the oxygen concentration and the gas temperature were measured. Results indicated that the variations of the flame behavior were consistent with that of the fuel mass loss rate. The fire location significantly impacted the light extinction coefficient, the oxygen concentration and the gas temperature, which all showed distinct stratification phenomena. For a higher elevated fire, the average fuel loss rate and the overall light extinction coefficient were smaller, the oxygen concentration was higher and the gas temperature was lower. In addition, the smoke descending was slower. 7Experimental investigation on the spread of aqueous foam over ethanol surface显示文摘The presence of ethanol has an adverse effect on foam spreading,and ethanol fire is difficult to extinguish with aqueous fire-fighting foams.Thus,it is necessary to explore the foam formulation suitable for ethanol fuels and study the spreading behavior of foam over ethanol surface.In the current work,stable foams based on hydrocarbon surfactant(SDS),fluorocarbon surfactant(FC1157),and polymers(XG)were prepared by using the compressed-air foam system.The spreading behaviors of foam on polar ethanol and non-polar heptane surface were observed and compared.Furthermore,the effects of stabilizer concentrations,foam flow rates and expansion ratios on foam spreading performance were investigated,respectively.The results indicate that aqueous SDS foam can spread on the heptane layer continuously,but it is difficult to cover the ethanol surface.The addition of XG and FC1157 can synergistically improve the spreading performance of aqueous foam over ethanol.Depending on stabilizer concentrations,there are remarkable differences in foam spreading behaviors.Besides,different foam application parameters including expansion ratios and foam flow rates significantly affect the foam spreading rate,despite the same foam formulation.The research methods and results guide the optimal design of foam formulations as well as the practical application of aqueous foam for ethanol fire extinguishment.Xiaoyang Yu Fan Li Xuyang Miao Ning Jiang Ruowen Zong Shouxiang Lu Changhai Li State 2020Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2020,28,11:2

15Correlation of rate of gas temperature rise with mass loss rate in a ceiling vented compartment显示文摘n-heptane pool fire and industrial alcohol pool fire in a ceiling vented compartment were studied experimentally. The parameters including mass loss rate and rate of gas temperature rise were investigated. The results suggest that the rate of gas temperature rise, whose variations were highly coincident with those of the mass loss rate, minimized at the moment of extinction. The correlation of the rate of average nondimensional temperature rise with mass loss rate was established. It was found that the rate of average nondimensional temperature rise may be correlated with mass loss rate via the gas heat absorption coefficient which was found to be a quadratic function of the nondimensional heat release rate for the ceiling vented compartment under study. 16Self-extinguishing behavior of Kerosene Spray Fire in a Completely Enclosed Compartment显示文摘The self-extinguishing behavior of kerosene spray fire was investigated in a completely enclosed compartment with the size of 3 m × 3 m × 3.4 m.The spray was generated by locating one BETE nozzle at the center of the bottom wall.A series of spray fire videos were obtained by changing BETE nozzle type and injecting pressure.The results show that spray fire undergoes four stages: the growth stage,the quasi-steady stage,the stretch stage and the self-extinguishing stage.Consumption of large quantities of oxygen causes spray fire to first be stretched and then quench.In this process,fire base migrates away from spray region and leads to the emergence of ghosting fire.Ghosting fire promotes the instability of spray fire and large fluctuation of its height,which provides help to its self-extinguishing.With increasing the injecting pressure or the nozzle diameter,the self-extinguishing time decreases.It is found that the self-extinguishing time is approximately in inverse relation with injecting flow rate.Additionally,we also observed the occurrence of two-phase deflagration just after ignition,and it accelerates the spray fire growth and induces a larger fire height than the following quasi-steady spray fire.The deflagration turns stronger with increasing the injecting pressure.Changjian Wang Jin Guo Weigang Yan Shouxiang Lu 2013Journal of Thermal Science2013,22,5:0
17Blended-fuel based EDC combustion model and its application in heptane-ethanol fire simulation显示文摘The blended-fuel based eddy-dissipation-concept combustion model was newly developed in the FireFOAM framework, and applied to simulate30 cm×30 cm heptane-ethanol pool fire. Comparison was made of fire height,centerline temperature against experimental measurements, which shows that they match very well with each other. 18Flame Spread over Aviation Kerosene with an Obstacle in Liquid Phase显示文摘The phenomena of flame spread over aviation kerosene with an obstacle in liquid phase are investigated experimentally through surface temperature measurement by using infrared camera,schlieren images of subsurface flow in front of and behind obstacle and residence time of flame obtained from video recording.Experimental results reveal that obstacle has no effect on gas phase controlled flame spread.But for liquid phase controlled flame spread,flame can be stopped by an obstacle with its top edge flush with oil surface,and the residence time decreases with the increase of initial temperature of fuel.That conduction and radiation only play a subsidiary role in flame spread over liquid fuel was proved by schlieren images and surface temperature profiles.Jin GUO Shouxiang LU Manhou LI Changjian WANG 2011Journal of Thermal Science2011,20,6:0
