| 2 | Effects of elevated [CO_2] on stem and root lodging among rice cultivars显示文摘Studies showed that elevated [CO2] would improve photosynthetic rates and enhance yields of rice;however,few studies have focused on the response of rice lodging,which is a major cause of cereal yield loss and quality reduction,under elevated [CO2].In this study,we examined the effects of elevated [CO2] on stem and root lodging using 4 rice cultivars(86Y8,japonica hybrid;LYP9,2-line indica hybrid;variety 9311,type of indica inbred rice,and SY63,3-line indica hybrid) grown under two [CO2] levels:400 and 680 μmol mol-1.Our results indicated that under elevated [CO2],the stem-lodging risk(SLR) of 9311 decreased,while in SY63 the SLR increased,86Y8 and LYP9 were not significantly affected;the risk of root lodging was reduced for all cultivars,because root biomass(instead of root number) and bending strength were increased significantly,and then the increase of anti-lodging ability is far higher than that of self-weight mass moment for all cultivars.These findings suggested that higher [CO2] can enhance the risk of stem-lodging for cultivars with strong-[CO2]-responses,but may not aggravate the root lodging for all rice cultivars. | ZHU ChunWu CHENG WeiGuo SAKAI Hidemitsu OIKAWA Shimpei LAZA Rebecca C USUI Yasuhiro HASEGAWA Toshihiro | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,15: | 4 |
| 3 | Monomorphic epitheliotropic intestinal T-cell lymphoma presenting as melena with long-term survival: A case report and review of literature显示文摘BACKGROUND Monomorphic epitheliotropic intestinal T-cell lymphoma(MEITL)is a rare primary intestinal T-cell lymphoma,previously known as enteropathy-associated T-cell lymphoma type II.MEITL is an aggressive T-cell lymphoma with a poor prognosis and high mortality rate.The known major complications of MEITL are intestinal perforation and obstruction.Here,we present a case of MEITL that was diagnosed following upper gastrointestinal bleeding from an ulcerative duodenal lesion,with recurrence-free survival for 5 years.CASE SUMMARY A 68-year-old female was admitted to our hospital with melena and mild anemia.An urgent esophagogastroduodenoscopy(EGD)revealed bleeding from an ulcerative lesion in the transverse part of the duodenum,for which hemostatic treatment was performed.MEITL was diagnosed following repeated biopsies of the lesion,and cyclophosphamide,doxorubicin,vincristine,and prednisone(CHOP)chemotherapy was administered.She achieved complete remission after eight full cycles of CHOP therapy.At the last follow-up examination,EGD revealed a scarred ulcer and 18Fluorodeoxyglucose(18FDG)positron emission tomography/computed tomography showed no abnormal FDG accumulation.The patient has been in complete remission for 68 mo after initial diagnosis.CONCLUSION To rule out MEITL,it is important to carefully perform histological examination when bleeding from a duodenal ulcer is observed. | Sotaro Ozaka Kunimitsu Inoue Tomoya Okajima Takako Tasaki Shimpei Ariki Hideki Ono Takeaki Ando Tsutomu Daa Kazunari Murakami | 2021 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2021,27,38: | 3 |
| 4 | Successful endovascular treatment of endoscopically unmanageable hemorrhage from a duodenal ulcer fed by a renal artery: A case report显示文摘A 52-year-old woman was admitted with hypovolemic shock. Emergency endoscopy revealed three hemorrhagic duodenal ulcers(all stage A1) with exposed vessels. Two ulcers were successfully treated by endoscopic clipping; however, the remaining ulcer on the posterior wall of the horizontal portion of the duodenum could not be clipped. Because her vital signs were rapidly worsening, we performed transcatheter arterial embolization(TAE) as it is less invasive than surgery. Computed tomography aortography showed that the duodenal hemorrhage was sourced from the lower branch of the right renal artery. In general, the duodenum is fed by branches from the gastroduodenal artery or superior mesenteric artery. However, this patient had three right renal arteries. The lower branch of the right renal artery at the L3 vertebral level was at the same level as the horizontal portion of the duodenum. Complete hemostasis was achieved by TAE using metallic coils and n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate. After TAE, she recovered from the hypovolemic shock and was discharged from hospital. She has had no recurrence of the hemorrhagic duodenal ulcer for over 1 yr, and followup endoscopy showed no necrosis or stricture of the duodenum. Although she developed a small infarct of her right kidney, her renal function was satisfactory. In summary, the present case is the first reported case of hemorrhagic duodenal ulcer in which the culprit vessel was a renal artery that was successfully treated by TAE.
