3GW5-Like, a homolog of GW5, negatively regulates grain width, weight and salt resistance in rice显示文摘Grain size is an important determinant of yield potential in crops. We previously demonstrated that natural mutations in the regulatory sequences of qSW5/GW5 confer grain width diversity in rice. However, the biological function of a GW5 homolog, named GW5-Like(GW5 L), remains unknown. In this study, we report on GW5 L knockout mutants in Kitaake, a japonica cultivar(cv.)considered to have a weak gw5 variant allele that confers shorter and wider grains. GW5 L is evenly expressed in various tissues, and its protein product is localized to the plasma membrane. Biochemical assays verified that GW5 L functions in a similar fashion to GW5. It positively regulates brassinosteroid(BR) signaling through repression of the phosphorylation activity of GSK2. Genetic data show that GW5 L overexpression in either Kitaake or a GW5 knockout line, Kasaorf3(indica cv. Kasalath background), causes more slender, longer grains relative to the wild-type. We also show that GW5 L could confer salt stress resistance through an association with calmodulin protein OsCa M1-1. 4Additivity of pore structural parameters of granular activated carbons derived from different coals and their blends显示文摘A series of granular activated carbons(GACs) were prepared by briquetting method from Chinese coals of different ranks and their blends,with coal pitch as the binder.Pore structural parameters including BET specific surface area(SBET),total pore volume(VT) and average pore diameter(da) were measured and calculated as well as process parameters such as yield of char(CY) and burn-off(B).The relationship between the pore structural parameters of the GAC from coal blend(BC-GAC) and the ones of the GACs from corresponding single coals(SC-GACs) was analyzed,in which an index,the relative error(d),was presented to define the bias between fitted values and experimental values of these parameters of the BC-GACs.The results show that the BC-GAC keeps qualitatively the pore structural features of the SC-GACs;as concerned as the quantitative relationship,the pore structural parameters of the BC-GAC from coal blend consisting of non-caking coals can be obtained by adding proportionally the pore structural parameters of the SC-GACs with d less than 10%.Meanwhile,for the BC-GAC from coal blend containing weak caking bituminous coal,the d increases up to 25% and the experimental pore size distribution differs greatly from the fitted one.Yao Xin Xie Qiang Yang Chuan Zhang Bo Wan Chaoran Cui Shanshan 2016International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2016,26,4:6
5Formation and evolution of layered structure in dissimilar welded joints between ferritic-martensitic steel and 316L stainless steel with fillers显示文摘Dissimilar high-energy beam(HEB)welding is necessary in many industrial applications.Different composition of heat-affected zone(HAZ)and weld metal(WM)lead to variation in mechanical properties within the dissimilar joint,which determines the performance of the welded structure.In the present study,appropriate filler material was used during electron beam welding(EBW)to obtain a reliable dissimilar joint between reduced-activation ferritic-martensitic(RAFM)steel and 316L austenitic stainless steel.It was observed that the layered structure occurred in the weld metal with 310S filler(310S-WM),which had the inferior resistance to thermal disturbance,leading to severe hardening of 310S-WM after one-step tempering treatment.To further ameliorate the joint inhomogeneity,two-step heat treatment processes were imposed to the joints and optimized.δ-ferrite in the layered structure transformed intoγ-phase in the first-step normalizing and remained stable during cooling.In the second-step of tempering,tempered martensite was obtained in the HAZ of the RAFM steel,while the microstructure of 310S-WM was not affected.Thus,the optimized properties for HAZ and 310S-WM in dissimilar welded joint was both obtained by a two-step heat treatment.The creep failure position of two dissimilar joints both occurred in CLAM-BM.Guoliang Liu Shanwu Yang Jianwen Ding Wentuo Han Lujun Zhou Mengqi Zhang Shanshan Zhou RDKMisra Farong Wan Chengjia Shang 2019Journal of Materials Science & Technology2019,35,11:4
6Indium-gallium-zinc-oxide thin-film transistors:Materials,devices,and applications显示文摘Since the invention of amorphous indium-gallium-zinc-oxide(IGZO)based thin-film transistors(TFTs)by Hideo Hosono in 2004,investigations on the topic of IGZO TFTs have been rapidly expanded thanks to their high electrical performance,large-area uniformity,and low processing temperature.This article reviews the recent progress and major trends in the field of IGZO-based TFTs.After a brief introduction of the history of IGZO and the main advantages of IGZO-based TFTs,an overview of IGZO materials and IGZO-based TFTs is given.In this part,IGZO material electron travelling orbitals and deposition methods are introduced,and the specific device structures and electrical performance are also presented.Afterwards,the recent advances of IGZO-based TFT applications are summarized,including flat panel display drivers,novel sensors,and emerging neuromorphic systems.In particular,the realization of flexible electronic systems is discussed.The last part of this review consists of the conclusions and gives an outlook over the field with a prediction for the future.Ying Zhu Yongli He Shanshan Jiang Li Zhu Chunsheng Chen Qing Wan 2021Journal of Semiconductors2021,42,3:4
7Genetic architecture and key genes controlling the diversity of oil composition in rice grains显示文摘Rice grain oil is a valuable nutrient source.However,the genetic basis of oil biosynthesis in rice grains remains unclear.In this study,we performed a genome-wide association study on oil composition and oil concentration in a diverse panel of 533 cultivated rice accessions.High variation for 11 oil-related traits was observed,and the oil composition of rice grains showed differentiation among the subpopulations.We identified 46 loci that are significantly associated with grain oil concentration or composition,16 of which were detected in three recombinant inbred line populations.Twenty-six candidate genes encoding enzymes involved in oil metabolism were identified from these 46 loci,four of which(PAL6,LIN6,MYR2,and ARA6)were found to contribute to natural variation in oil composition and to show differentiation among the subpopulations.Interestingly,population genetic analyses revealed that specific haplotypes of PAL6 and LIN6 have been selected in japonica rice.Based on these results,we propose a possible oil biosynthetic pathway in rice grains.Collectively,our results provide new insights into the genetic basis of oil biosynthesis in rice grains and can facilitate marker-based breeding of rice varieties with enhanced oil and grain quality.Hao Zhou Duo Xia Pingbo Li Yiting Ao Xiaodong Xu Shanshan Wan Yanhua Li Bian Wu Huan Shi Kaiyue Wang Guanjun Gao Qinglu Zhang Gongwei Wang Jinghua Xiao Xianghua Li Sibin Yu Xingming Lian Yuqing He 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,3:4
8The effect of pH on the sorption of gold nanoparticles on illite显示文摘Sorption between nanoparticles(NPs)and minerals may critically affect the migration of associated elements as well as the environmental impact of NPs.Since illite is widely present in soil,sediment,and water,we have experimentally investigated the sorption behavior of citrate-coated gold nanoparticles(AuNPs)as model NPs on illite under different pH and mineral mass conditions.We demonstrated that sorption of these negatively charged AuNPs strongly depended on the suspension pH.At pH above 8,which coincided with the apparent point of zero charge(pH 7.9)of our illite sample,only marginal sorption of AuNPs was observed.At pH 3-8,significant sorption of AuNPs on illite was found,with almost complete sorption occurring at more acidic conditions(pH 3-4).TEM observations revealed that sorption took place through the attachment AuNPs on illite edges.At pH 2,AuNPs mostly formed chain-like fused structures and precipitated out of the suspension.Based upon the above pH dependence,residual organic ligand content after sorption,and complementary sorption results with positively charged AuNPs,we conclude that the sorption process is mainly driven by the electrostatic attraction between negatively charged AuNPs and positively charged illite edges,with possible competitive involvement of citrate molecules.We expect that our findings will improve our understanding of NP-mineral interaction and the environmental fate of NPs.Yuhong Fu Quan Wan Zonghua Qin Xin Nie Wenbin Yu Shanshan Li 2020Acta Geochimica2020,39,2:2

10Micro or nano:Evaluation of biosafety and biopotency of magnesium metal organic framework-74 with different particle sizes显示文摘In recent years,various particulate materials have played important roles in medical applications.However,nano-and micron-sized particles of the same material could exhibit distinct properties due to different particle sizes.This finding provided a simple and effective way to improve the biological applications of particulate materials.Therefore,as a highly promising member,the effect of the particle size change of the magnesium metal organic framework-74(Mg-MOF74)was well worth evaluating.Here we firsth assessed the in vitro and in vivo toxicity of micron/nanoscale Mg-MOF74(m-Mg-MOF74/n-Mg-MOF74)in detail.Our in vitro study revealed that compared to micron-sized subjects,n-Mg-MOF74 provided a wider range of safe concentrations.Furthermore,both micron/nanoscale Mg-MOF74 showed good biocompatibility and allowed all the rats under the treatment to survive through the expected experimental periods,with n-Mg-MOF74 still showing lower cardiotoxicity.These advantages of nanoscale Mg-MOF74might benefit from its sustainable and balanced release of Ma^2+both inside and outside the cells.Based on the biosafety evaluation,advanced bio-functional assessments of m/n-Mg-MOF74 including early osteogenesis and angiogenesis were alsoperformed.Similarly,the suitable dose groups of n-Mg-MOF74 achieved optimal early osteogenic promotion and angiogenic stimulation effects.Overall,our combined data delineated the toxicity and biological behaviors of Ma-MOF74 of different scales,and sugqested nanoscale Mg-MOF74 as a better choice for future applications.This result revealed that particle size reductior might be a viable strategy to improve and expand medical applications of MOFs or other particulate materials.Zhou Zhu Shaokang Jiang Yanhua Liu Xiaomeng Gao Shanshan Hu Xin Zhang Chao Huang Qianbing Wan Jian Wang Xibo Pei 2020Nano Research2020,13,2:1
11ESCRT-Ⅲ component OsSNF7.2 modulates leaf rolling by trafficking and endosomal degradation of auxin biosynthetic enzyme OsYUC8 in rice显示文摘The endosomal sorting complex required for transport(ESCRT)is highly conserved in eukaryotic cells and plays an essential role in the biogenesis of multivesicular bodies and cargo degradation to the plant vacuole or lysosomes.Although ESCRT components affect a variety of plant growth and development processes,their impact on leaf development is rarely reported.Here,we found that OsSNF7.2,an ESCRT-Ⅲ component,controls leaf rolling in rice(Oryza sativa).The Ossnf7.2 mutant rolled leaf 17(rl17)has adaxially rolled leaves due to the decreased number and size of the bulliform cells.OsSNF7.2is expressed ubiquitously in all tissues,and its protein is localized in the endosomal compartments.OsSNF7.2 homologs,including OsSNF7,OsSNF7.3,and OsSNF7.4,can physically interact with OsSNF7.2,but their single mutation did not result in leaf rolling.Other ESCRT complex subunits,namely OsVPS20,OsVPS24,and OsBRO1,also interact with OsSNF7.2.Further assays revealed that OsSNF7.2 interacts with OsYUC8 and aids its vacuolar degradation.Both Osyuc8and rl17 Osyuc8 showed rolled leaves,indicating that OsYUC8 and OsSNF7.2 function in the same pathway,conferring leaf development.This study reveals a new biological function for the ESCRT-Ⅲcomponents,and provides new insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying leaf rolling.Liang Zhou Saihua Chen Maohong Cai Song Cui Yulong Ren Xinyue Zhang Tianzhen Liu Chunlei Zhou Xin Jin Limin Zhang Minxi Wu Shuyi Zhang Zhijun Cheng Xin Zhang Cailin Lei Qibing Lin Xiuping Guo Jie Wang Zhichao Zhao Ling Jiang Shanshan Zhu Jianmin Wan 2023Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2023,65,6:1

15Adsorption of TTF,TCNQ and TTF-TCNQ on Au(111):An in situ ECSTM study显示文摘The adsorption and adlayer structures of tetrathiofulvalene (TTF), tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) and TTF-TCNQ on Au(111) have been systematically investigated by in situ electrochemical scanning tunneling microscopy (ECSTM) and cyclic voltammetry in 0.1 mol?L?1 HClO4. All the three molecules were found to form well-ordered adlayers in the double-layer potential region of Au(111). For TTF and TCNQ adlayers, (6×3) and (4×7) structures have been observed, respectively. A structural transition was observed on TCNQ adlayer at potential negative of 0.08 V vs. the reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE), and induced a new phase with (3 3 ×12) structure. On the other hand, the charge transfer complex, TTF-TCNQ, self-organized into ordered domains with a lamellar structure different from those of the pure TTF and TCNQ adlayers on Au(111).
