| 1 | The Coix Genome Provides Insights into Panicoideae Evolution and Papery Hull Domestication显示文摘Coix is a grass crop domesticated as early as the Neolithic era.It is still widely cultivated for both highly nutritional food and medicinal use.However,the genetic study and breeding of this crop are hindered by the lack of a sequenced genome.Here,we report de novo sequencing and assembly of the 1619-Mb genome of Coix,and annotation of 75.39%repeats and 39629 protein-coding genes.Comparative genomics analysis showed that Coix is more closely related to sorghum than maize,but intriguingly only Coix and maize had a recent genome duplication event,which was not detected in sorghum.We further constructed a genetic map and mapped several important traits,especially the strength of hull.Selection of papery hull(thin:easy dehulling)from the stony hull(thick:difficult dehulling)in wild progenitors was a key step in Coix domestication.The papery hull makes seed easier to process and germinate.Anatomic and global transcriptome analysis revealed that the papery hull is a result of inhibition of cell division and wall biogenesis.We also successfully demonstrated that seed hull pressure resistance is controlled by two major quantitative trait loci(QTLs),which are associated with hull thickness and color,respectively.The two QTLs were further fine mapped within intervals of 250 kb and 146 kb,respectively.These resources provide a platform for evolutionary studies and will facilitate molecular breeding of this important crop. | Chao Guo Yanan Wang Aiguo Yang Jun He Chaowen Xiao Shanhua Lv Fengming Han Yibing Yuan Yuan Yuan Xiaolong Dong Juan Guo YawenYang-Hailan Liu Ningzhi Zuo Yaxi Hu Kangxu Zhao Zhengbo Jiang Xing Wang Tingting Jiang Yaou Sherf Moju Cao Yuan Wang Zhaobo Long Tingzhao Rong Luqi Huang Shufeng Zhou | 2020 | Molecular Plant2020,13,2: | 11 |
| 2 | Evaluation Indicators and Extraction Method for Pitting Corrosion of Structural Steel显示文摘A set of evaluation indicators based on corrosion ratio in theory for assessing the extent of pitting corrosion and performance reduction are proposed. In order to quantify the morphology of pitting corrosion and extract the evaluation indicators,the 3D profile data obtained by pitting morphology measurement are imported into a special written program to automatically determine the location of each corrosion pit and distill any desired data pertinent to the pitting morphology. | 5 | EMC10 governs male fertility via maintaining sperm ion balance显示文摘Infertility is a severe public health problem worldwide that prevails up to 15% in reproductive-age couples,and male infertility accounts for half of total infertility.Studies on genetically modified animal models have identifed lots of genes involved in the pathogenesis of male infertility.The underlying causes,however,remain largely unclear.In this study,we provide evidence that EMCIO,one subunit of endoplasmic reticulum (ER)membrane protein complex (EMC),is required for male fertility.EMC10 is significantly decreased in spermatozoa from patients with asthenozoospermia and positively associated with human sperm motility. Male mice lacking Emc10 gene are completely sterile.Emc10-null spermatozoa exhibit multiple defects including abnormal morphology,decreased motility,impaired capacitation,and impotency of acrosome reaction,thereby which are incapable of fertilizing intact or ZP-free oocytes.However,intracytoplasmic sperm injection could rescue this defect caused by EMC10 deletion. | 15 | Non-pharmaceutical interventions for COVID-19 reduced the incidence of infectious diseases:a controlled interrupted time-series study显示文摘Background Non-pharmaceutical interventions(NPIs)have been implemented worldwide to suppress the spread of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).However,few studies have evaluated the effect of NPIs on other infectious diseases and none has assessed the avoided disease burden associated with NPIs.We aimed to assess the effect of NPIs on the incidence of infectious diseases during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and evaluate the health economic benefits related to the reduction in the incidence of infectious diseases.Methods Data on 10 notifiable infectious diseases across China during 2010–2020 were extracted from the China Information System for Disease Control and Prevention.A two-stage controlled interrupted time-series design with a quasi-Poisson regression model was used to examine the impact of NPIs on the incidence of infectious diseases.The analysis was first performed at the provincial-level administrative divisions(PLADs)level in China,then the PLAD-specific estimates were pooled using a random-effect meta-analysis.Results A total of 61,393,737 cases of 10 infectious diseases were identified.The implementation of NPIs was associated with 5.13 million(95%confidence interval[CI]3.45‒7.42)avoided cases and USD 1.77 billion(95%CI 1.18‒2.57)avoided hospital expenditures in 2020.There were 4.52 million(95%CI 3.00‒6.63)avoided cases for children and adolescents,corresponding to 88.2%of total avoided cases.The top leading cause of avoided burden attributable to NPIs was influenza[avoided percentage(AP):89.3%;95%CI 84.5‒92.6].Socioeconomic status and population density were effect modifiers.Conclusions NPIs for COVID-19 could effectively control the prevalence of infectious diseases,with patterns of risk varying by socioeconomic status.These findings have important implications for informing targeted strategies to prevent infectious diseases. | Wenyi Zhang Yao Wu Bo Wen Yongming Zhang Yong Wang Wenwu Yin Shanhua Sun Xianyu Wei Hailong Sun Zhijie Zhang Shanshan Li Yuming Guo | 2023 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2023,12,2: | 1 |
| 16 | Effects of Pitting Corrosion on the Fatigue Behavior of Q235 Steel显示文摘In order to analyze the distribution and characterizations of corrosion pits on the corroded surface,the steel surface data was measured. Based on the method of the interacting pits,the types of pits corresponding to different exposure time were observed and categorized for completely understanding the effects on the fatigue behavior. The results showed that the conditions for estimating whether the pits interfere with each other should not be ignored; exposure time with 2 years was a critical time. The exposure time and the interacting pits can observably reduce the fatigue life of corroded steel. From these conclusions,the method of fatigue crack growth rate with the multi-pits interaction(FCGR-MPI) was developed and used to predict the fatigue behavior of corroded steel affected with the interacting pits.
