1矿山强酸性多金属污染土壤修复及麻疯树植物复垦条件研究显示文摘采用温室盆栽实验,研究了在不同剂量(质量分数分别为0、0.10%、0.25%、0.5%和1.0%)石灰石改良条件下,大宝山矿强酸性多金属不同污染程度土壤中麻疯树的生长状况和吸收金属特征,并探讨了麻疯树在酸性土壤中生长的抑制因素和石灰石改良适宜剂量.研究表明,在低污染酸性土壤中,Cu和Pb的高活性可能是抑制麻疯树生长的主要因素;而在高污染酸性土壤中,Cd、Cu、Zn等金属的高活性及由强酸引起的Al毒也可能是抑制麻疯树生长的主要因素;石灰石通过提高土壤pH值和降低多金属的生物有效态含量,促进了麻疯树在低污和高污土壤中的生长,其最佳剂量分别为0.25%和0.5%;石灰石可以不同程度地降低麻疯树地上部和地下部的Cd、Cu、Pb、Zn和Al含量,同时随石灰石用量的增加,其金属含量基本呈降低趋势;麻疯树地下部金属含量高于地上部,且石灰石对麻疯树地下部金属(除Cd外)含量降低幅度较地上部大.因此,种植麻疯树与石灰石改良是联合修复大宝山矿酸性多金属污染土壤的有效措施之一.李清飞 仇荣亮 石宁 周小勇 SENTHILKUMAR P 黄穗虹 2009环境科学学报2009,29,8:19
2大宝山矿周边污染土壤重金属生物有效性评估显示文摘分析了6种单一提取剂HCl、DTPA、CaCl2、NH4NO3、MgCl2、去离子水对大宝山矿周边上坝村受污染菜地(生菜、芥菜、蕹菜)土壤中Pb、Zn、Cu和Cd生物可利用性的指示能力。结果表明:3种菜地的HCl、DTPA提取态的Pb,CaCl2、NH4NO3和MgCl2提取态的Zn,CaCl2提取态的Cd可以比较好地反映金属的生物有效性;而3种蔬菜中的Cu与土壤6种提取态的Cu均没有显著的相关性。土壤样品中铁锰氧化物对Pb、Zn、Cu和Cd的固定作用直接影响该4种重金属的析出,并且Cu、Cd和Pb所受的影响要强于Zn。结果还表明,与地上部分相比蔬菜地下部分的重金属含量能更准确地反映重金属从土壤向植物中的转移。黄穗虹 田甜 邹晓锦 周小勇 PALANINAICKER Senthilkumar 仇荣亮 2009中山大学学报(自然科学版)2009,48,4:16

5Anticancer and multidrug-resistance reversing potential of traditional medicinal plants and their bioactive compounds in leukemia cell lines显示文摘Multidrug resistance remains a serious clinical problem in the successful therapy of malignant diseases. It occurs in cultured tumor cell lines, as well as in human cancers. Therefore, it is critical to develop novel anticancer drugs with multidrug-resistance modulating potential to increase the survival rate of leukemia patients. Plant-derived natural products have been used for the treatment of various diseases for thousands of years. This review summarizes the anticancer and multidrug-resistance reversing properties of the extracts and bioactive compounds from traditional medicinal plants in different leukemia cell lines. 7Free radical scavenging property and antiproliferative activity of Rhodiola imbricata Edgew extracts in HT-29 human colon cancer cells显示文摘Objective:To investigate the in vitro antioxidant and antiproliferative activity of rhizome extracts of Rhodiola imbricata(R.imbricata) in HT-29 human colon cancer cell line.Methods:The successively extracted rhizome of R.imbricata using various solvents was analyzed for their total phenolics,tannins and flavonoid contents.In vitro antioxidant activity was evaluated by employing different assays,including DPPH,ABTS radical scavenging assays,FRAP, phosphomolybdenum reduction assay,superoxide anion,hydroxyl radical scavenging activities and metal chelating ability.Results:Acetone and methanol extracts recorded higher phenolic content and showed comparable antioxidant activity with standard reference.Additionally,they also inhibited the proliferation of HT-29 cells upon treatment at higher concentration(200μg/mL) (acetone and methanol,84%and 84%.respectively).On examination acetone extract exhibited antiproliferative activity in a concentration dependent manner whereas,methanol extract showed both dose dependent and lime dependent inhibitory activity.Conclusions:The results obtained justify the traditional usage of R.imbricata from their promising antioxidant activity.Ravichandran Senthilkumar Thangaraj Parimelazhagan Om Prakash Chaurasia R.B.Srivastava 2013Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2013,6,1:5
8Nonsaturation Throughput Enhancement of IEEE 802.11b Distributed Coordination Function for Heterogeneous Traffic under Noisy Environment显示文摘In this paper, we propose a mechanism named modified backoff (MB) mechanism to decrease the channel idle time in IEEE 802.11 distributed coordination function (DCF). In the noisy channel, when signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is low, applying this mechanism in DCF greatly improves the throughput and lowers the channel idle time. This paper presents an analytical model for the performance study of IEEE 802.11 MB-DCF for nonsaturated heterogeneous traffic in the presence of transmission errors. First, we introduce the MB-DCF and compare its performance to IEEE 802.11 DCF with binary exponential backoff(BEB). The IEEE 802.11 DCF with BEB mechanism suffers from more channel idle time under low SNR. The MB-DCF ensures high throughput and low packet delay by reducing the channel idle time under the low traffic in the network. However, to the best of the authors knowledge, there are no previous works that enhance the performance of the DCF under imperfect wireless channel. We show through analysis that the proposed mechanism greatly outperforms the original IEEE 802.11 DCF in the imperfect channel condition. The effectiveness of physical and link layer parameters on throughput performance is explored. 9In vitro antibacterial potential of some Vitex species against human pathogenic bacteria显示文摘Objective:To study the antibacterial activity of the leaf methanol extracts of five different species of Vitex namely,Vilex altissima(V.allissima),Vitex diversifolia(V.diversifolia),Vitex negundo(V.negundo),Vitex peduncularis(V.peduncularis) and Vitex trifolia(V.trifolia). Methods:Antibacterial assay was carried out by using disc diffusion method,determination of minimum inhibitory concentrations(MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentrations(MBC) against five strains of Gram-positive and seven strains of Gram-negative human pathogenic bacterial strains.Results:The results of antibacterial activity of Vitex species showed that the extracts possessed a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity.The V.peduncularis possessed the highest activity against all the microorganisms screened.It produced a zone of inhibition ranged between (11.000±0.577) and(22.670±0.667) mm and the MIC values were from 62.5 to I 000.0μg/mL and the MBC values were from 125.0 to 2 000.0μg/mL.Conclusions:Based on the present study, V.peduncularis is recommended for the isolation of antibacterial molecule responsible for the activity against the tested human pathogenic bacterial strains.Krishnan Kannathasan Annadurai Senthilkumar Venugopalan Venkatesalu 2011Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2011,4,8:5

11Predictors of malignancy in chronic calcific pancreatitis with head mass显示文摘AIM: To prospectively analyse the clinical, biochemical and radiological characteristics of the mass lesions arising in a background of chronic calcific pancreatitis (CCP). METHODS: Eighty three patients, who presented with chronic pancreatitis (CP) and a mass lesion in the head of pancreas between February 2005 and December 2011, were included in the study. Patients who were identified to have malignancy underwent Whipple' s procedure and patients whose investigations were suggestive of a benign lesion underwent Frey's procedure. Student t-test was used to compare the mean values of imaging findings [common bile duct (CBD), main pancreatic duct (MPD) size] and laboratory data [Serum bilirubin, carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA 19-9)] between the groups. Receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC curve) analysis was done to calculate the cutoff valves of serum bilirubin, CA 19-9, MPD and CBD size. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive valve (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV) were calculated using these cut off points. Multivariate analysis was performed using logistic regression model. RESULTS: The study included 56 men (67.5%) and 27 women (32.5%). Sixty (72.3%) patients had tropical calcific pancreatitis and 23 (27.7%) had alcohol related CCP. Histologically, it was confirmed that 55 (66.3%) of the 83 patients had an inflammatory head mass and 28 (33.7%) had a malignant head mass. The mean age of individuals with benign inflammatory mass and those with malignant mass was 38.4 years and 45 years respectively. Significant clinical features that predicted a malignant head mass in CP were presence of a head mass in CCP of tropics, old age, jaundice, sudden worsening abdominal pain, gastric outlet obstruction and significant weight loss (P ≤ 0.05). The ROC curve analysis showed a cut off value of 5.8 mg/dL for serum bilirubin, 127 U/mL for CA 19-9, 11.5 mm for MPD size and 14.5 mm for CBD size. 12Physical chemical and biological characterization of a new bacteriocin produced by Bacillus cereus NS02显示文摘Objective:To screen the bacteriocinogenic isolate from buffalo milk and to characterize it on physical,chemical and biological aspects for the application in biopreservation.Methods:Bacillus cereus(B.cereus)was isolated and assessed for its baceteriocinogenic activity.Bacteriocin was produced and purified by ammonium sulphate precipitation,dialysis and gel filtration chromatography.Purified bacteriocin was used to clieck its antimicrobial activity against food borne bacteria.Effect and stability of bacteripcin was determined with the respect to temperature,pH,enzymes,organic solvents and chemicals.Bacteriocin was also subjected to SDS PAGE analysis to determine its molecular weight.In addition,functional groups exist in the bacteriocin was determined by FTIR analysis.Results:B.cereus was identified by 16S rRNA sequence analysis.Bacteriocin showed increased activity against all the bacteria used and its activity unit was found to be 51,200 AU/mL.It was stable to high temperature(100℃)and wide range of pH(3-10),sensitive to proteolytic enzymes and resistant to nonprotcolytic enzymes.It was low molecular weight(3.5-6 kDa)protein and FTIR study revealed the presence of amide group and NH stretching,Conclusions:Bacteriocin produced in this study possesses the highest antimicrobial activity against both gram positive and gram negative bacteria thereby it has immense application as biopreservative agent.FTIR proved its peptide nature.Senbagam D Gurusamy R Senthilkumar B 2013Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2013,6,12:4

16Induction of deletion mutation on ompR gene of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi isolates from asymptomatic typhoid carriers to evolve attenuated strains for vaccine development显示文摘Objective:To develop allenualed slrains of Salmonella enterica serorar Typhi(S.typhi) for the candidate vaccine by osmolar stress.Mothods:S.typhi SS3 and SS5 strains were isolated from asymptomatic typhoid carriers in Mamakkal,Tamil Nadu.India.Both strains were grown in LB(Luria Bertani) medium supplemented with various concentration of NaCl(0.1- 0.7M) respectively.The effecl of osmolar stress was determined at molecular level by PCR using MCR 06 and MCR07 primers corresponding to ompR with chromosomal DNA of S.typhi SS3 and SS5 strains.Attenuation by osmolar stress results in deletion mutation of the.S.typhi slrains was determined by agglutination assays,precipitation method.SDS PAGE analysis and by animal models.Results:The 799 bp amplified ompR gene product from wild type S.typhi SS3 and SS5 illustrate the presence of virulent gene.Interestingly,there was only a 282 bp amplified product from S.typhi SS3 and SS5 grown in the presence of 0.5.0.6 and 0.7 M NaCl.This illustrates the occurrence of deletion mutation in ompR gene al high concentration of NaCl.Furthermore,both the wildtype and mutant S.typhi outer membrane SDS-PAGF.profile reveals the differences in the expression of ompF.ompC and ompA proteins.In mice,wild type and mutant strains lethal dose(LD_(50)) were determined.The mice died within 72 h when both the wild type strains were injected intraperitoneally with 3 log CFU-mL^(-1).When the mice were injected with the mutants in same dosage,no clinical symptoms were observed;whereas the serum antibodv litre was elicited within two weeks indicated that the mutants have the ability to induce protective humoral immune response.These results suggest that S.typhi SS3 and SS5 may bo used as good candidate strains for the development of live attenuated vaccine against salmonellosis.Conclusions:This study demonstrates that the S.typhi strains were allenualed and could be good vaccine candidates in future.Senthilkumar B Anbarasu K Senbagam D Rajasekarapandian M 2014Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2014,7,12:2
17A New Method of Embedded Fourth Order with Four Stages to Study Raster CNN Simulation显示文摘A new Runge-Kutta (PK) fourth order with four stages embedded method with error control is presented in this paper for raster simulation in cellular neural network (CNN) environment. Through versatile algorithm, single layer/raster CNN array is implemented by incorporating the proposed technique. Simulation results have been obtained, and comparison has also been carried out to show the efficiency of the proposed numerical integration algorithm. The analytic expressions for local truncation error and global truncation error are derived. 18Influence of Shallow and Deep Cryogenic Treatment on Tribological Behavior of En 19 Steel显示文摘The influence of cryogenic treatment on the wear resistance of En 19 steel was studied.Furthermore,a comparative analysis on the effect of Deep Cryogenic Treatment(DCT,-196 ℃×24 h),Shallow Cryogenic Treatment(SCT,-80 ℃×5 h)and Conventional Heat Treatment(CHT)was done through dry sliding wear testing.The microstructures of CHT,SCT and DCT samples were also examined through scanning electron microscopy.The results indicated that the wear resistance of shallow and deep cryogenically treated samples is higher when compared to that of conventionally treated samples.X-ray diffraction pattern revealed that the transformation of retained austenite into martensite is responsible for the wear resistance improvement.D Senthilkumar I Rajendran 2011Journal of Iron and Steel Research(International)2011,18,9:2
19Storm surge simulation along the Meghna estuarine area:an alternative approach显示文摘In this study, numerical prediction of surges associated with a storm was made through the method of lines(MOL) in coordination with the newly proposed RKARMS(4, 4) method for the meghna estuarine region, along the coast of Bangladesh. For this purpose, the vertically integrated shallow water equations(SWEs) in Cartesian coordinates were firstly transformed into ordinary differential equations(ODEs) of initial valued, which were then soloved using the new RKARMS(4, 4) method. Nested grid technique was employed for resolving the complexities of the region of interest with minimum cost. Fresh water discharge through the lower Meghna River was taken into account along the north east corner of the innermost child scheme. Numerical experiments were performed with the severe cyclone on April 1991 that crossed the coast over the study area.
