Controlled drug delivery vehicles for cancer treatment andtheir performance显示文摘Although conventional chemotherapy has been successful to some extent, the main drawbacks of chemotherapy are its poor bioavailability,high-dose requirements, adverse side effects, low therapeutic indices, development of multiple drug resistance, and non-specific targeting. The main aim in the development of drug delivery vehicles is to successfully address these delivery-related problems and carry drugs to the desired sites of therapeutic action while reducing adverse side effects. In this review,we will discuss the different types of materials used as delivery vehicles for chemotherapeutic agents and their structural characteristics that improve the therapeutic efficacy of their drugs and will describe recent scientific advances in the area of chemotherapy, emphasizing challenges in cancer treatments. | Sudipta Senapati Arun Kumar Mahanta Sunil Kumar Pralay Maiti | 2018 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2018,3,1: | 9
Gastric endoscopic submucosal dissection as a treatment for early neoplasia and for accurate staging of early cancers in a United Kingdom Caucasian population显示文摘AIM To investigate the efficacy of endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD) at diagnosing and treating superficial neoplastic lesions of the stomach in a United Kingdom Caucasian population.METHODS Data of patients treated with or considered for ESD at a tertiary referral center in the United Kingdom were retrieved for a period of 2 years(May 2015 to June 2017) from the electronic patient records of the hospital. Only Caucasian patients were included. Primary outcomes were curative resection(CR) and were defined as ESD resections with clear horizontal and vertical margin and an absence of lympho-vascular invasion, poor differentiation and submucosal involvement on histological evaluation of the resected specimen. Secondary end-points were reversal of dysplasia at 12 mo endoscopic follow-up and/or at the latest follow up. Change in histological diagnosis pre and post ESD was also analysed.RESULTS Twenty-four patients were initially identified with intention to treat. 19 patients were eligible after mapping gastroscopy and ESD was attempted on a total of 25 ESD lesions, 4 of which failed and had to be aborted mid-procedure. Out of 21 ESD performed, en-bloc resection was achieved in 71.4% of cases. Resection was considered complete on endoscopy in 90.5% of cases compared to only 38.1% on histology. A total of 6 resections were considered curative(28%), 5 noncurative(24%) and 10 indefinite for CR or non-CR(24%). ESD changed the histological diagnosis in 66.6% of cases post ESD. Endoscopic follow-up in the 'indefinite' group and CR group showed that 50% and 80% of patients were clear of dysplasia at the latest follow-up respectively; 2 cases of recurrence were observed in the 'indefinite'group. Survival rate for the entire cohort was 91.7%.CONCLUSION This study provides early evidence for the efficacy of ESD as a therapeutic and diagnostic intervention in Caucasian populations and supports its application in the United Kingdom. | Aisha Sooltangos Matthew Davenport Stephen McGrath Jonathan Vickers Siba Senapati Kurshid Akhtar Regi George Yeng Ang | 2017 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy2017,9,12: | 3
Actinobacteria-enhanced plant growth, nutrient acquisition, and crop protection:Advances in soil, plant, and microbial multifactorial interactions显示文摘Agricultural areas of land are deteriorating every day owing to population increase, rapid urbanization, and industrialization. To feed today’s huge populations, increased crop production is required from smaller areas, which warrants the continuous application of high doses of inorganic fertilizers to agricultural land. These cause damage to soil health and, therefore, nutrient imbalance conditions in arable soils. Under these conditions, the benefits of microbial inoculants (such as Actinobacteria) as replacements for harmful chemicals and promoting ecofriendly sustainable farming practices have been made clear through recent technological advances. There are multifunctional traits involved in the production of different types of bioactive compounds responsible for plant growth promotion, and the biocontrol of phytopathogens has reduced the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. There are some well-known groups of nitrogen-fixing Actinobacteria, such as Frankia, which undergo mutualism with plants and offer enhanced symbiotic trade-offs.In addition to nitrogen fixation, increasing availability of major plant nutrients in soil due to the solubilization of immobilized forms of phosphorus and potassium compounds, production of phytohormones, such as indole-3-acetic acid, indole-3-pyruvic acid, gibberellins, and cytokinins, improving organic matter decomposition by releasing cellulases, xylanase, glucanases, lipases, and proteases, and suppression of soil-borne pathogens by the production of siderophores, ammonia, hydrogen cyanide, and chitinase are important features of Actinobacteria useful for combating biotic and abiotic stresses in plants. The positive influence of Actinobacteria on soil fertility and plant health has motivated us to compile this review of important findings associated with sustaining plant productivity in the long run. | Debasis MITRA Rittick MONDAL Bahman KHOSHRU Ansuman SENAPATI T.K.RADHA Bhaswatimayee MAHAKUR Navendra UNIYAL Ei Mon MYO Hanane BOUTAJ Beatriz Elena GUERRA SIERRA Periyasamy PANNEERSELVAM Arakalagud Nanjundaiah GANESHAMURTHY Snežana ANÐELKOVIĆ Tanja VASIĆ Anju RANI Subhadeep DUTTA Pradeep K.DAS MOHAPATRA | 2022 | Pedosphere2022,32,1: | 3

Androgen receptor co-regulation in prostate cancer显示文摘Prostate cancer(PCa)progression relies on androgen receptor(AR)action.Preventing AR’s ligand-activation is the frontline treatment for metastatic PCa.Androgen deprivation therapy(ADT)that inhibits AR ligand-binding initially induces remission but eventually fails, mainly because of adaptive PCa responses that restore AR action. The vast majority of castration-resistant PCa(CRPC)continues to rely on AR activity.Novel therapeutic strategies are being explored that involve targeting other critical AR domains such as those that mediate its constitutively active transactivation function, its DNA binding ability,or its interaction with co-operating transcriptional regulators.Considerable molecular and clinical variability has been found in AR’s interaction with its ligands,DNA binding motifs, and its associated coregulators and transcription factors. Here,we review evidence that each of these levels of AR regulation can individually and differentially impact transcription by AR.In addition,we examine emerging insights suggesting that each can also impact the other, and that all three may collaborate to induce gene-specific AR target gene expression, likely via AR allosteric effects. For the purpose of this review,we refer to the modulating influence of these differential and/or interdependent contributions of ligands, cognate DNA-binding motifs and critical regulatory protein interactions on AR’s transcriptional output, which may influence the efficiency of the novel PCa therapeutic approaches under consideration,as co-regulation of AR activity. | Dhirodatta Senapati Sangeeta Kumari Hannelore V.Heemers | 2020 | Asian Journal of Urology2020,7,3: | 2
Newly developed Fe3O4–Cr2O3 magnetic nanocomposite for photocatalytic decomposition of 4-chlorophenol in water显示文摘Chlorophenols, typically 4-chlorophenols are highly toxic and non-biodegradable organic contaminants which pose serious threat to the environment, particularly when released into aqueous medium. The removal of these pollutants by efficient method has received worldwide concern in recent past. A new Fe_3O_4–Cr_2O_3 magnetic nanocomposite was synthesized by wet chemical method under ultrasonic irradiation. Microstructure and morphology of the nanocomposite were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR), and a transmission electron microscope(TEM). Magnetic and optical properties were studied by a vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM) and an ultraviolet–visible(UV–Vis) spectrophotometer respectively. The magnetic nanocomposite(MNC) was used as photocatalyst for effective decomposition of 4-chlorophenol in water under ultraviolet(UV) irradiation. | Khoirakpam Kesho Singh Kula Kamal Senapati Chandan Borgohain Kanak Chandra Sarma | 2017 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,2: | 2
Improving time series forecasting using elephant herd optimization with feature selection methods显示文摘The time series data is chaotic, non seasonal, non stationary and random in nature. It becomes quite challenging to discover the hidden patterns of time series data.In this paper the time series data is predicted with the help of a machine learning algorithm i.e.Elephant Herd Optimization(EHO).Three different types of time series data are used to testify the superiority of the proposed method namely stock market data, currency exchange data and absenteeism at work. The data are first subjected to feature selection methods namely ANOVA and Friedman test. The feature selection methods provide relevant set of features which is fed to the neural network trained with the method. The proposed method is also compared with other methods such as local linear radial basis functional neural network and particle swarm optimization. The results prove supremacy of EHO over other methods. | Soumya Das Sarojananda Mishra ManasRanjan Senapati | 2021 | Journal of Management Analytics2021,8,1: | 2
Pressure recovery characteristics for a dilute gas-particle suspension flowing vertically downward in a pipe with a sudden expansion: A two-fluid modeling approach显示文摘This work applies the Eulerian-Eulerian model in conjunction with the kinetic theory of granular flow and inter-particle collisions to study the characteristics of pressure recovery for a dilute gas-particle suspension flowing through a pipe with a sudden expansion at a relatively higher solid loading. To do so,the numerical procedure was validated against experimental results for relatively small dilute phase flows in a pipe with a sudden expansion;a satisfactory agreement was obtained.Initially, the effect of the two significant numerical parameters namely, the speculairty coefficient and the coefficient of restitution for particle-particle collisions were investigated and then, for fixed combinations of these parameters the effect of particle-phase volume fraction, particle density, particle size, and inlet slip ratio were studied. It was concluded that pressure recovery diminishes as the speculairty coefficient increases and the particle-particle coefficient of restitution decreases.Pressure recovery was found to increase with increasing solid volume fraction for coarse particles whereas, for fine particles,a critical volume fraction is obtained above which pressure recovery reduces. An increase in slip ratio is found to diminish pressure recovery.Similarly,at relatively higher solid volume fractions,a critical diameter was found, above and below which pressure recovery decreases. | Santosh Kumar Senapati Sukanta Kumar Dash | 2020 | Particuology2020,18,3: | 2
