| 1 | Levels of matrix metalloproteinase-1 and tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinase-1 in gastric cancer显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the levels of preoperative serum matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1) in gastric cancer.METHODS:One hundred gastric cancer patients who underwent gastrectomy were enrolled in this study.The serum concentrations of MMP-1 and TIMP-1 in these patients and in fifty healthy controls were determined using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.RESULTS:Higher serum MMP-1 and TIMP-1 levels were observed in patients than in controls (P < 0.001).Serum MMP-1 and TIMP-1 levels were positively associated with morphological appearance,tumor size,depth of wall invasion,lymph node metastasis,liver metastasis,perineural invasion,and pathological stage.They were not significantly associated with age,gender,tumor location,or histological type.CONCLUSION:Increased MMP-1 and TIMP-1 were associated with gastric cancer.Although these markers are not good markers for diagnosis,these markers show in advanced gastric cancer. | Ozgur Kemik Ahu Sarbay Kemik Aziz Sümer Ahmet Cumhur Dulger Mine Adas Huseyin Begenik Ismail Hasirci Ozkan Yilmaz Sevim Purisa Erol Kisli Sefa Tuzun Cetin Kotan | 2011 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2011，17，16： | 10 |
| 2 | Effect of early preoperative 5-fluorouracil on the integrity of colonic anastomoses in rats显示文摘AIM:To determine the effect of chemotherapy on wound healing by giving early preoperative 5-fluorouracil (5-FU)to rats with colonic anastomoses. METHODS:Sixty Albino-Wistar male rats(median weight,235 g)were used in this study.The rats were fed with standard laboratory food and given tap water ad libitum.The animals were divided into three groups: Group 1:Control group(chemotherapy was not administered),Group 2:Intraperitoneally(IP)administered 5-FU group(chemotherapy was administered IP to animals at a dose of 20 mg/kg daily during the 5 d preceeding surgery),Group 3:Intravenously(IV)administered 5-FU group.Chemotherapy was administered via the penil vein,using the same dosing scheme and duration as the second group.After a 3-d rest to minimize the side effects of chemotherapy,both groups underwent surgery.One centimeter of colon was resected 2 cm proximally from the peritoneal reflection,thensutured intermittently and subsequently end-to-end anastomosed.In each group,half the animals were given anaesthesia on the 3rd postoperative(PO)day and the other half on the 7th PO day,for in vivo analytic procedures.The abdominal incisions in the rats were dissected,all the new and old anastomotic segments were clearly seen and bursting pressures of each anastomotic segment,tissue hydroxyproline levels and DNA content were determined to assess the histologic tissue repair process. RESULTS:When the IV group was compared with the IP group,bursting pressures of the anastomotic segments on the 3rd and 7th PO days,were found to be significantly decreased,hydroxyproline levels at the anastomotic segment on the 7th PO day were significantly decreased(P<0.01). | 7 | Prevalence of coeliac disease in patients with autoimmune thyroiditis in a Turkish population显示文摘AIM:To investigate the prevalence of coeliac disease in a series of Turkish patients with autoimmune thyroiditis.METHODS:Sera from 136 consecutive patients with newly diagnosed autoimmune thyroiditis and 119 healthy blood donors were tested for IgA tissue transglutaminase antibody with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Endoscopic mucosal biopsy from the second part of duodenum was performed in patients with positive antibody test.RESULTS:Eight patients(5.9%)and one control subject(0.8%)were positive for IgA tissue transglutaminase antibody(OR:7.38,95% CI:0.91-59.85,P = 0.04).Six patients and one control agreed to take biopsies.Histopathological examination revealed changes classified as Marsh Ⅲa in one,Marsh Ⅱ in one,Marsh Ⅰ in two,and Marsh 0 in two patients with autoimmune throiditis,and MarshⅠin one blood donor.CONCLUSION:Turkish patients with autoimmune thyroiditis have an increased risk of coeliac disease and serological screening may be useful for early detection of coeliac disease in these patients.Our findings need to be confirmed in a larger series of patients. | Sefa Guliter Fahri Yakaryilmaz Zubeyde Ozkurt Reyhan Ersoy Derya Ucardag Osman Caglayan Pinar Atasoy | 2007 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2007，13，10： | 1 |
