| 1 | Prediction of subsidence risk by FMEA using artificial neural network and fuzzy inference system显示文摘Construction of metro tunnels in dense and crowded urban areas is faced with many risks, such as subsidence. The purpose of this paper was the prediction of subsidence risk by failure mode and effect analysis(FMEA) and fuzzy inference system(FIS). Fuzzy theory will be able to model uncertainties. Fuzzy FMEA provides a tool that can work in a better way with vague concepts and without sufficient information than conventional FMEA. In this paper, S and D are obtained from fuzzy rules and O is obtained from artificial neural network(ANN). FMEA is performed by developing a fuzzy risk priority number(FRPN).The FRPN for two stations in Tehran No.4 subway line is 3.1 and 5.5, respectively. To investigate the suitability of this approach, the predictions by FMEA have been compared with actual data. | 2 | Electro-spray of high viscous liquids for producing mono-sized spherical alginate beads显示文摘Alginate beads, often used for controlled release of enzymes and drugs, are usually produced by spraying sodium alginate liquid into a gelling agent using mechanical vibration nozzle or air jet. In this work an alternative method of electro-spray was employed to form droplets with desired size from a highly viscous sodium alginate solution using constant DC voltage. The droplets were then cured in a calcium chloride solution. The main objective was to produce mono-sized beads from such a highly viscous and non-Newtonian liquid (1000-5000 mPa s). The effects of nozzle diameter, flow rate and concentration of liquid on the size of the beads were investigated. Among the parameters studied, voltage had a pronounced effect on the size of beads as compared to flow rate, nozzle diameter and concentration of alginate liquid. The size of beads was reduced to a minimum value with increasing the voltage in the range of 0-10 kV. At the early stages of voltage increase (i.e. up to about 4 kV), the rate of size reduction was relatively low, while the dripping mode dominated. However, in the middle part of the range of applied voltage, where the rate of size reduction was high (i.e. about 4-7 kV), an unstable transition occurred between dripping and jetting. At the end part of the range (i.e. 7-10 kV) jet mode of spray was observed. Increasing the height of fall of the droplets was found to improve the sphericity of the beads, because of the increased time of flight for the droplets. | 3 | Experimental and statistical assessments of the mechanical strength reliability of gamma alumina catalyst supports显示文摘The mechanical strength of solid catalysts is considered an important factor in terms of ensuring the reliable performance of industrial reactors.In this work,a pelletizing method was used to form gamma alumina support for catalysts.Response surface methodology(RSM) was employed to analyze and model the effects of various manufacturing parameters on the crushing strength of the supports.These parameters were binder concentration,compaction pressure,calcination temperature,and drying mode.The suggested model was verified by applying an analysis of variance to assess its validity with regard to crushing strength.The mechanical reliability of various supports was also determined by calculating their Weibull modulus values through linear regression of the Weibull equation.The material with the highest mechanical strength reliability will have both a high mean crushing strength and a high Weibull modulus,and the best values obtained for a support in this work were 70.7 MPa and 6.63,respectively.The conditions used to form this sample were:20mass%binder concentration,861 MPa compaction pressure,466 ℃ calcination temperature,and gentle drying. | Abdolreza Samimi Mozhgan Zakeri Basir Maleki Davod Mohebbi-Kalhori | 2015 | Particuology2015,13,4: | 2 |
