1Mild closed head traumatic brain injury-induced changes in monoamine neurotransmitters in the trigeminal subnuclei of a rat model:mechanisms underlying orofacial allodynias and headache显示文摘Our recent findings have demonstrated that rodent models of closed head traumatic brain injury exhibit comprehensive evidence of progressive and enduring orofacial allodynias, a hypersensitive pain response induced by non-painful stimulation. These allodynias, tested using thermal hyperalgesia, correlated with changes in several known pain signaling receptors and molecules along the trigeminal pain pathway, especially in the trigeminal nucleus caudalis. This study focused to extend our previous work to investigate the changes in monoamine neurotransmitter immunoreactivity changes in spinal trigeminal nucleus oralis, pars interpolaris and nucleus tractus solitaries following mild to moderate closed head traumatic brain injury, which are related to tactile allodynia, touch-pressure sensitivity, and visceral pain. Our results exhibited significant alterations in the excitatory monoamine, serotonin, in spinal trigeminal nucleus oralis and pars interpolaris which usually modulate tactile and mechanical sensitivity in addition to the thermal sensitivity. Moreover, we also detected a robust alteration in the expression of serotonin, and inhibitory molecule norepinephrine in the nucleus tractus solitaries, which might indicate the possibility of an alteration in visceral pain, and existence of other morbidities related to solitary nucleus dysfunction in this rodent model of mild to moderate closed head traumatic brain injury. 2A generalized supervised classification scheme to produce provincial wetland inventory maps:an application of Google Earth Engine for big geo data processing显示文摘Wetlands are important natural resources due to their numerous ecological services.Consequently,identifying their locations and extents is imperative.The stability,repeatability,cost-effectiveness,multi-scale coverage,and proper spatial resolution imagery of satellites provide a valuable opportunity for their use in various large-scale applications,such as provincial wetland mapping.To do so,it is required to(1)process and classify big geo data(i.e.a large amount of satellite datasets)in a time-and computationally-efficient approach and(2)collect a large amount of field samples.In this study,Google Earth Engine(GEE)and machine learning algorithms were utilized to process thousands of remote sensing images and produce provincial wetland inventory maps of the three Canadian provinces of Manitoba,Quebec,and Newfoundland and Labrador(NL).Additionally,using GEE,a generalized supervised classification method is proposed to produce a regional wetland map from a large area(e.g.,a province)when lacking field samples.In fact,using the field data from only Manitoba and assuming that all wetlands in Canada have similar characteristics,the wetland maps were generated for the other two provinces.The overall classification accuracies for Manitoba,Quebec,and NL were 84%,78%,and 82%,respectively,indicating the high potential of the proposed method for aiding provincial wetland inventory systems.Meisam Amani Brian Brisco Majid Afshar S.Mohammad Mirmazloumi Sahel Mahdavi Sayyed Mohammad Javad Mirzadeh Weimin Huang Jean Granger 2019Big Earth Data2019,3,4:4
3Intensity measures for the seismic response evaluation of buried steel pipelines under near-field pulse-like ground motions显示文摘Ground-motion Intensity Measures (IMs) are used to quantify the strength of ground motions and evaluate the response of structures. IMs act as a link between seismic demand and seismic hazard analysis and therefore, have a key role in performance-based earthquake engineering. Many studies have been carried out on the determination of suitable IMs in terms of effi ciency, suffi ciency and scaling robustness. The majority of these investigations focused on ordinary structures such as buildings and bridges, and only a few were about buried pipelines. In the current study, the optimal IMs for predicting the seismic demand of continuous buried steel pipelines under near-fi eld pulse-like ground motion records is investigated. Incremental dynamic analysis is performed using twenty ground motion records. Using the results of the regression analysis, the optimality of 23 potential IMs are studied. 5Multiphonon hopping conduction in carbon-nickel composite films at different deposition time显示文摘In this work, the electrical properties of carbon-nickel composite films deposited at different time(50-600 s) were investigated. The films were grown by radio frequency magnetron sputtering on glass substrates at room temperature. The electrical conductivity of the films was investigated in the temperature range of 15-500 K.The conductivity data in the temperature range of400-500 K show the extended state conduction mechanism, while the multiphonon hopping(MPH) conduction is found to dominate the electrical transport in the temperature range of 150-300 K. The films deposited at 180 s have the maximum conductivity. The conductivity at T < 60 K could be described in terms of variable range hopping(VRH) conduction. The localized state density around Fermi level(N(E_F)) at low temperature for the films deposited at 180 s has the minimum value of about 4.02 × 10^(21) cm^(-3)·eV^(-1). 8Integrate intere-well connectivity data with static reservoir models based on Bayesian formalism显示文摘The inter-well connectivity calculated from reservoir dynamic production data reflects formation heterogeneity quantitatively.Currently,the calculated inter-well connectivity between pair wells is mainly used as a tool for water flood management but not for quantitative reservoir characterization.This study proposes an innovative,dynamic data integration workflow that can integrate inter-well connectivity with a static reservoir model.In the workflow,the first step is calculating the inter-well connectivity vectors from the reservoir pairwise injector and producer wells.The second step covers interpolation in the domain of interest.The third step is to update the permeability model based on the Bayesian updating method.The result of this study shows that integrating the calculated inter-well connectivity with the static models enhances model reliability and it also provides an insight to deeper geological understanding reflected from dynamic data integration in reservoir modeling.Yupeng Li Rashid S.Mohammad 2023Petroleum Research2023,8,3:0
9Feasibility of developing composite action between concrete and cold-formed steel beam显示文摘Cold-formed steel structures are steel structure products constructed from sheets or coils using cold rolling, press brake or bending brake method. These structures are extensively employed in building construction industry due to their light mass, ductility by economic cold forming operations, favorable strength-to-mass ratio and other factors. The utilization of cold formed steel sections with concrete as composite can hugely reduce the construction cost. However, the use of cold formed steel members in composite concrete beams has been very limited. A comprehensive review of developments in composite beam with cold formed steel sections was introduced. It was revealed that employing cold-formed steel channel section to replace reinforcement bars in conventional reinforced concrete beam results in a significant cost reduction without reducing strength capacity. The use of composite beam consisting of cold-formed steel open or close box and filled concrete could also reduce construction cost. Lighter composite girder for bridges with cold-formed steel of U section was introduced. Moreover, types of shear connectors to provide composite action between cold-formed steel beam and concrete slab were presented. 10Surface plasmon resonance and electrical properties of RF: magnetron sputtered carbon–nickel composite films at different annealing temperatures显示文摘In this work, the optical absorption spectra of carbon–nickel films annealed at different temperatures(300–1000 °C) with a special emphasis on the surface plasmon resonance(SPR) were investigated. The films were grown on quartz substrates by radio-frequency(RF)magnetron co-sputtering at room temperature with a deposition time of 600 s. The optical absorption peaks due to the SPR of Ni particle are observed in the wavelength range of 300–330 nm. With annealing temperature increasing up to 500 °C due to the increase in Ni particle size, the intensity of the SPR peaks increases, but weakens with annealing temperature increasing over 500 °C. The Ni nanoparticle size, the dielectric function of carbon matrix(ε_m) and the plasma frequency of the free electrons(ω_p) at500 °C have the maximum values of 21.63 nm, 0.471 and5.26 9 10^(15)s^(-1), respectively. The absorption peak shows a redshift trend up to 500 °C and then turn to blueshift with annealing temperature increasing over 500 °C.
