4Self-aligned on-chip coupled photonic devices using individual cadmium sulfide nanobelts显示文摘Nanowires(NWs)and nanobelts(NBs)have been widely studied and fabricated into a variety of nanoscale devices such as light emitting diodes(LEDs),lasers and biosensors.These unique materials have attracted sustained attention due to their novel properties,ease of growth,and the ability to fabricate highly engineered devices.However,their widespread application remains hindered due to the difficulty in integrating multiple NWs or NBs together for more complex devices.Integration of multiple NWs and NBs together on the same chip can enable the coupling of different devices to help realize complex on-chip architectures such as photonic integrated circuits or nanoscale diagnostic tools,which currently require outcoupling using larger components.In this letter we report the coupling of on-chip NB LEDs and photodetectors using a single,precisely self-aligned,cadmium sulfide(CdS)NB fabricated on a silicon-on-insulator(SOI)substrate.Electroluminescence generated by the CdS NB is waveguided and measured across the self-aligned device and demonstrates an on/off ratio of 10^2-10^3.This work describes a new method for fabricating and integrating more complex nanoscale devices that can enable advances in areas such as on-chip optical computational components and nanoscale optical biodiagnostics.Jacob S.Berger Ho-Seok Ee Mingliang Ren Daksh Agarwal Wenjing Liu Ritesh Agarwal 2020Nano Research2020,13,5:0
5Highly Sensitive Piezoelectric Response of Sodium Nitrite Nano-crystals to Low Applied Mechanical Pressures显示文摘Development of highly-sensitive detectors of low mechanical pressures in the scale of few Pascal and below in environmental conditions are of a high technological demand for a variety of applications such as a remote control of infants breathing and a leakage alert of hazardous gases.This paper reports on a highly sensitive piezoelectric detector of low applied mechanical pressures down to 0.1 Pa in atmospheric environment(10-4%pressure change).It is made of SN(sodium nitride)nanocrystals grown inside alumina pores with a preferred crystallographic orientation that can be controlled by their formation conditions based on a thermodynamic driving force.The SN nanocrystals inside the pores show a piezoelectric current response to low applied mechanical pressure which depends on the crystallographic orientation of the crystals and the level of residual or applied static strains.The piezoelectric current response is correlated with the unique molecular structure of the SN crystals.H.Bishara S.Berger 2018材料科学与工程(中英文A版)2018,8,3:0
