1Climate change induced eutrophication of cold-water lake in an ecologically fragile nature reserve显示文摘Aquatic ecosystem sustainability around the globe is facing crucial challenges because of increasing anthropogenic and natural disturbances. In this study, the Tianchi Lake, a typical cold-water lake and a UNESCO/MAB(Man and Biosphere) nature reserve located in high latitude and elevation with the relatively low intensity of human activity was chosen as a system to examine the linkages between climate change and eutrophication. As a part of the UNESCO Bogda Man and Biosphere Reserve, Tianchi Lake has been well preserved for prevention from human intervention, but why has it been infected with eutrophication recent years? Our results show that climate change played a significant role in the eutrophication in the Tianchi Lake. Increased temperature, changed precipitation pattern and wind-induced hydrodynamic fluctuations in the summer season were suggested to make a major contribution to the accelerated eutrophication. The results also showed that the local temperature and precipitation changes were closely linked to the large-scale atmospheric circulation, which opens the door for the method to be applied in other regions without local climatic information. 3Prevalent fecal contamination in drinking water resources and potential health risks in Swat, Pakistan显示文摘Fecal bacteria contaminate water resources and result in associated waterborne diseases.This study assessed drinking water quality and evaluated their potential health risks in Swat, Pakistan. Ground and surface drinking water were randomly collected from upstream to downstream in the River Swat watershed and analyzed for fecal contamination using fecal indicator bacteria(Escherichia coli) and physiochemical parameters(potential of hydrogen, turbidity, temperature, electrical conductivity, total dissolved solid, color, odor and taste). The physiochemical parameters were within their safe limits except in a few locations, whereas, the fecal contaminations in drinking water resources exceeded the drinking water quality standards of Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency(Pak-EPA),2008 and World Health Organization(WHO), 2011. Multivariate and univariate analyses revealed that downstream urbanization trend, minimum distance between water sources and pit latrines/sewerage systems, raw sewage deep well injection and amplified urban,pastures and agricultural runoffs having human and animal excreta were the possible sources of contamination. 5Honeycomb-Like Hydrogel Microspheres for 3D Bulk Construction of Tumor Models显示文摘A two-dimensional(2D)cell culture-based model is widely applied to study tumorigenic mechanisms and drug screening.However,it cannot authentically simulate the threedimensional(3D)microenvironment of solid tumors and provide reliable and predictable data in response to in vivo,thus leading to the research ilusionis and failure of drug screening.In this study,honeycomb-like gelatin methacryloyl(GelMA)hydrogel microspheres are developed by synchronous photocrosslinking microluidic technique to construct a 3D model of osteosarcoma.The in vitro study shows that ostcosarcoma cells(K7M2)culured in 3D GelMA microspheres have stronger tumorous stemness。proliferation and migration abilitics,more osteoclastogenetic ability,and reistance to chemotherapeutic drugs(DOX)than that of cells in 2D cultures.More imporantly,the 3D-cultured K7M2 cells show more tumorigenicity in immunologically sound mice,characterized by shorter tumorigenesis time,larger tumor volumc,severe bone destruction,and higher mortality.In conclusion,honeycomb like porous microsphere scaffolds are constructed with uniform structure by micofluidic technology to massively produce tumor cells with original phenotypes.Those microspheres could recapitulate the physiology microenvironment of tumors.maintain ell-cell and cell-extracellular matrix interactions,and thus provide an efective and convenient strategy for tumor pathogenesis and drug screening research.Jiachen He Chichi Chen Liang Chen Ruoyu Cheng Jie Sun Xingzhi Liu Lin Wang Can Zhu Sihan Hu Yuan Xue Jian Lu Huiling Yang Wenguo Cui Qin Shi 2022Research2022,,2:1

7Facile defect engineering in ZnIn_(2)S_(4) coupled with carbon dots for rapid diclofenac degradation显示文摘Semiconductor-mediated photocatalysis is a promising photochemical process for harvesting inexhaustible solar energy to address the energy crisis and environmental issues.However,the low solar-light response and poor carrier migration are severe drawbacks that limit its practical application.Herein,we propose a convenient pathway for improving electron-hole separation and solar energy utilisation by engineering defective ZnIn2 S4 with doping of carbon dots.The optimum ZnIn2 S_(4)/CD_(2)00 nanosheet exhibited 100% diclofenac(DCF) degradation within 12 min under visible-light.The estimated photocatalytic efficiency under natural sunlight was 98.2%.Scavenging experiments and electron spin resonance(ESR) analysis indicated that the superoxide radical(O_(2)·-),photoelectron(e^(-)),hole(h^(+)) and hydroxyl radical(·OH) were the predominant contributions in the ZnIn2 S4/CD200/DCF/visible light system.Furthermore,ZnIn2 S4/CD200 exhibited excellent reusability and stability after 4 times recycling.The photodegradation routes mainly involved hydroxylation,decarboxylation,C-N bond cleavage,dechlorination,ring closure,and ring-opening.The ecological risk assessment and total organic carbon(TOC) tests exhibited desirable toxicity reduction and mineralization results.These observations not only offer a facile strategy for the construction of defective ZnIn2 S4,but also pioneer the direct utilisation of natural light for highly efficient environmental remediation.Dongxu Yang Jialiang Liang Liang Luo Ruoyu Deng Guo Li Qiang He Yi Chen 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,8:0
8VisQAC: Visual Analytics for Online Q&A Communities显示文摘Online question and answer(Q&A)communities,which allow users to exchange knowledge by asking and answering questions,have become increasingly popular.As a result of user active participation,these communities store overwhelming volumes of information.However,existing related methods are unable to meet community operators’needs for analyzing multi-dimensional Q&A sequences and understanding user behavior.In this paper,collaborating with domain experts in online community,we present a system,VisQAC,which explores the patterns of Q&A sequence and user behavior.In the system,a novel visual design is proposed,which is combined with flexible mapping measures for analyzing critical characteristics of sequence data.Moreover,a timeline visualization method is designed to visualize data with categorical attributes and its correlation can be displayed flexibly by choosing time mode and time granularity.The usefulness and effectiveness of the system are demonstrated with several case studies of VisQAC with community operators based on the Zhihu dataset.Our evaluation shows that VisQAC is beneficial to the understanding of Q&A sequence and associated user behavior.Jing Liang Ruoyu Jia Min Zhu Henry B L Duh 2019Journal of Beijing Institute of Technology2019,28,2:0

10A design of novel photonic crystal fiber with low and flattened dispersion for supporting 84 orbital angular momentum modes显示文摘A dual-guided photonic crystal fiber(PCF) with low and flattened dispersion is designed, which can support a large number of orbital angular momentum(OAM) modes. The properties of the proposed PCF are systematically analyzed through the finite element method. The results show that the proposed PCF can support up to 84 OAM modes with 600 nm bandwidth ranging from 1000 to1600 nm. All values of mode purity are above 91.7%, the isolation parameters are larger than 67 dB and the maximum value up to 145 dB, the lowest confinement loss is only 5×10^(-13) dB·m^(-1).More importantly, the values of dispersion for all modes are less than 40 ps·km-1·nm-1, and the lowest dispersion variation is only 0.7 ps·km^(-1)·nm^(-1). 11The proatherosclerotic function of indoleamine 2, 3- dioxygenase 1 in the developmental stage of atherosclerosis显示文摘The discrepancy of indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase 1(IDO1)function in atherosclerosis has been noted.Compared to the protective effect of IDO1 against established atherogenesis,the role of IDO1 in the developmental process of atherosclerosis is still unclear.Here,the expression patterns and activities of IDO1 and its isoenzyme tryptophan 2,3-dioxygenase(TDO)in aortas and blood samples of patients with atherosclerosis were investigated.IDO1 and TDO were colocalized with CD3-positive lymphocytes and CD68-positive macrophages in atherosclerotic lesions.The expression and activity of IDO1 and TDO increased with the grade of the histological classification in early atherosclerosis(grade I,II),but the increase did not continue in advanced atherosclerosis(grade III).Treatment of THP-1 macrophages(THP-M)with oxidized low-density lipoprotein(oxLDL)induced the expression of IDO1 via the PI3K/Akt/NF-κB pathway,indicating the potential function of IDO1 in foam cells.Before and after treatment with oxLDL on THP-M,IFN-γ-induced IDO1 exhibited different degrees of promotion on foaming,inflammatory factor production and cell apoptosis.Finally,we found that the IDO1 inhibitor 1-methyl-tryptophan could elevate the high-density lipoprotein cholesterol level in serum and reduce the area of the aortic atherosclerotic lesions in high-fat diet-fed ApoE−/−mice.Our study indicated that IDO1 played a complicated and unfixed role in the entire process of atherogenesis,despite the atheroprotective role in established atherosclerosis.IDO1 also had proatherosclerotic functions in the developmental stages of atherosclerosis.Modulation of IDO1 could be a good method for alleviating atherosclerosis.Heng Liang Mantian Chen Fangfei Qi Lei Shi Zhenzhen Duan Ruoyu Yang Jinchao He Bin Lou Yigang Li Qing Yang 2019Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2019,4,1:0
