Development and distribution of geohazards triggered by the 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake in China显示文摘As the Wenchuan Earthquake was of high magnitude and shallow seismic focus, it caused great dam- age and serious geohazards. By the field investigation and the interpretation of remote-sensing infor- mation after the earthquake and by using means of GIS technology, the distribution of geohazards triggered by the earthquake are analyzed and the conclusions are as follows: (1) The earthquake geo- hazards showed the feature of zonal distribution along the earthquake fault zone and linear distribution along the rivers; (2) the distribution of earthquake geohazards had a marked hanging wall effect, for the development density of geohazards in the hanging wall of earthquake fault zone was obviously higher than that in the foot wall and the width of strong development zone in the hanging wall was about 10 km; (3) the topographical slope was a main factor which controlled the development of earthquake geo- hazards and a vast majority of hazards were distributed on the slopes of 20° to 50°; (4) the earthquake geohazards had a corresponding relationship with the elevation and micro-landform, for most hazards happened in the river valleys and canyon sections below the elevation of 1500 to 2000 m, particularly in the upper segment of canyon sections (namely, the turning point from the dale to the canyon). Thin ridge, isolated or full-face space mountains were most sensitive to the seismic wave, and had a striking amplifying effect. In these areas, collapses and landslides were most likely to develop; (5) the study also showed that different lithologies determined the types of geohazards, and usually, landslides oc- curred in soft rocks, while collapses occurred in hard rocks. | HUANG RunQiu LI WeiLe | 2009 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2009,52,4: | 30
HIF-1α-induced expression of m6A reader YTHDF1 drives hypoxia-induced autophagy and malignancy of hepatocellular carcinoma by promoting ATG2A and ATG14 translation显示文摘N6-methyladenosine(m6A),and its reader protein YTHDF1,play a pivotal role in human tumorigenesis by affecting nearly everystage of RNA metabolism.Autophagy activation is one of the ways by which cancer cells survive hypoxia. However, the possibleinvolvement of m6A modification of mRNA in hypoxia-induced autophagy was unexplored in human hepatocellular carcinoma(HCO).In this study, specific variations in YTHDF1 expression were detected in YTHDF1-overexpressing,knockout,and-knockdownHCC cells,HCC organoids, and HCC patient-derived xenograft(PDX)murine models.YTHDF1 expression and hypoxia inducedautophagy were significantly correlated in vitro;signifhcant overexpression of YTHDF1 in HCC tissues was associated with poorprognosis,Multivariate cox regression analysis identihed YTHDF1 expression as an independent prognostic factor in patients withHCC.Multiple HC models conhrmed that YTHDF1 deficiency inhibited HCC autophagy, growth, and metastasis.Luciferase reporterassays and chromatin immunoprecipitation demonstrated that HlIF-1a regulated YTHDF1 transcription by directly binding to itspromoter region under hypoxia. The results of methylated RNA immunoprecipitation sequencing, proteomics, and polysomeprofling indicated that YTHDF1 contibuted to the translation of autophagy-related genes ATG2A and ATG14 by binding to m6A-modifhed ATG2A and ATG14 mRNA,thus facilitating autophagy and autophagy-related malignancy of HCC.Taken together,HlE-1d-induced YTHDF1 expression was associated with hypoxia-induced autophagy and autophagy-related HCC progression via promoting translation of autophagy-related genes ATG2A and ATG14 in a m6A-dependent manner. Our fndings suggest thatYTHDF1 is a potential prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target for patients with HCC. | Qing Li Yong Ni Liren Zhang Runqiu Jiang Jing Xu Hong Yang Yuanchang Hu Jiannan Qiu Liyong Pu Jinhai Tang Xuehao Wang | 2021 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2021,6,3: | 24
Interleukin-33 drives hepatic fibrosis through activation of hepatic stellate cells显示文摘Liver fibrosis is a consequence of chronic liver disease, causing morbidity and mortality.Interleukin-33(IL-33)is a critical mediator of inflammation, which may be involved in the development of liver fibrosis. Here,we investigated the role of IL-33 in human patients and experimental bile-duct ligation(BDL)-induced fibrosis in mice.We report increased hepatic IL-33 expression in the murine BDL model of fibrosis and in surgical samples obtained from patients with liver fibrosis.Liver injury, inflammatory cell infiltration and fibrosis were reduced in the absence of the IL-33/ST2 receptor, and the activation of hepatic stellate cells(HSCs)was decreased in ST2-deficient mice.Recombinant IL-33 activated HSCs isolated from C57BL/6 mice, leading to the expression of IL-6,TGF-β,α-SMA and collagen, which was abrogated in the absence of ST2 or by pharmacological inhibition of MAPK signaling. Finally, administration of recombinant IL-33 significantly increased hepatic inflammation in sham-operated BL6 mice but did not enhance BDL-induced hepatic inflammation and fibrosis. In conclusion,BDL-induced liver inflammation and fibrosis are dependent on ST2 signaling in HSCs,and therefore, the IL-33/ST2 pathway may be a potential therapeutic target in human patients with chronic hepatitis and liver fibrosis. | Zhongming Tan Qianghui Liu Runqiu Jiang Long Lv Siamak S Shoto Isabelle Maillet Valerie Quesniaux Junwei Tang Wenjie Zhang Beicheng Sun Bernhard Ryffel | 2018 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2018,15,4: | 24
Crustal P-wave velocity structure of the Longmenshan region and its tectonic implications for the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake显示文摘The P-wave velocity structure of the crust in the Longmenshan region has been imaged by seismic travel time tomography us ing local and regional first P-wave arrivals recorded from 2000 to 2008. The tomographic model provides a way to analyze the deep tectonics of the Longmenshan fault belt and the tectonic implications for the 2008 Ms8.0 Wenchuan earthquake. The P-wave velocity images indicate that the initial rupture site and focal depth of the Wenchuan earthquake, together with the di rection of rupture propagation, closely relate to the crustal structure of the Longmenshan region. The Pengguan massif to the west of the Longmenshan fault belt is characterized by high velocity anomalies, suggesting that the crust has a strong strain strength that can accumulate large stresses over a long period. The Ms8.0 Wenchuan earthquake is located at the southwestern end of the Pengguan massif and the western edge of the Sichuan Basin. The collision between the Pengguan massif and the Sichuan Basin becomes the primary reason for the occurrence of the Ms8.0 Wenchuan earthquake. To the north of Wenchuan, the occurrence and propagation of rupture benefit from low velocity anomalies along the Longmenshan fault belt; whereas to the south of Wenchuan, the brittle rupture can occur with more difficulty in relatively weak crust with low velocities. This may be one of the reasons for the absence of aftershocks to the south of Wenchuan, and the rupture induced by the Ms8.0 Wenchuan earthquake propagating from the north to the south along the Longmenshan fault belt. The deep geodynamics of the Ms8.0 Wenchuan earthquake may occur due to the discrepancy of crustal structures on the two sides of the Longmenshan fault belt. Ductile deformation and crustal flow can easily occur in the weak middle-lower crust beneath the Songpan-Garze orogenic belt. The eastward movement of the Tibetan Plateau is obstructed by the rigid lithosphere of the Sichuan Basin, and then the thick ening of the middle-lower crust and vertical deformation occur in the crust of the Longmenshan fault belt. In addition, the down-warping of the Moho and the basement thrusting onto the range front induced crustal deformation and strain accumula tion, which provided the potential energy to trigger the occurrence of the Ms8.0 Wenchuan earthquake. | LI ZhaWei XU Yi HUANG RunQiu HAO TianYao XU Ya LIU JingSong LIU JianHua | 2011 | Science China Earth Sciences2011,54,9: | 23
Formation, distribution and risk control of landslides in China显示文摘China is a country with a large population as well as frequent landslides. The formation and distribution of landslides in China are determined by its special topography, complex geological environment, active earthquake environment and unusual climate features. This paper analyzes the main features and distribution of 200 catastrophic landslides that occurred in China since 1900. The relationships among the distribution of landslides and topographic conditions, geological structure, climate features and strong earthquake environment are analyzed. The features of landslide-triggering factors and critical conditions in different areas have also been considered. Based on the above-mentioned work, the authors have undertaken the studies of landslide susceptibility assessment. The study is performed according to the topographic and geological features, which are the main triggering factors that affect the landslides. The China's Mainland can be divided into 12 zones, including 4 high susceptibility zones, 7 medium susceptibility zones and 1 low susceptibility zone, according to landslide proneness. Considering the number of life loss and extent of property loss caused by landslides in those 12 zones, the risk evaluation results are listed as follows: 2 extremely high-risk zones, 5 high-risk zones, 2 medium-risk zones and 3 low-risk zones. Taking the number of life loss caused by landslides as the standard of risk level, the paper also analyzes the change in landslide risk level and main risk control measures in China since 1990s. Based on the risk level of landslides in other countries or regions, the acceptable landslide risk level in China has been proposed. | Runqiu Huang, Weile Li State Key Laboratory of Geohazards Prevention and Geoenvironment Protection, Chengdu University of Technology, Chengdu, 610059, China | 2011 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2011,3,2: | 13
Mechanism and Geo-mechanics Models of Landslides Triggered by 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake显示文摘Due to the extremely high magnitude, long duration, and the complicated geo-environment in the disaster area, the great 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake not only produced a huge number of landslides and rockfalls, but also involved complicated dynamic processes. These processes are quite different from the characteristics of landslides and rockfalls under general gravitational force, and presently human knowledge is very poor in this field. In order to describe the special dynamic processes, some terms such as shattering-cracking, shattering-sliding, shattering-falls and ejection are defined in this paper. Combined with slope structures, a mechanism classification system of strong earthquake-triggered landslide and rockfall is suggested, which is divided into 5 categories and 14 types. This paper also analyzes the basic characteristics, dynamic processes and geo-mechanics conceptual models of some typologies, especial the type of shattering-sliding for most large-scales landsides. This paper initially reveals the formation mechanism, geo-mechanics models and dynamic features of landslides and rockfalls triggered by the great Wenchuan Earthquake. | HUANG Runqiu XU Qiang HUO Junjie | 2011 | Journal of Mountain Science2011,8,2: | 9

Analysis on Dam-Breaking Mode of Tangjiashan Barrier Dam in Beichuan County显示文摘Tangjiashan landslide is a typical high-speed consequent landslide of medium-steep dip angle. This landslide triggered by earthquake took place in about semi-minute. The relative sliding displacement is 900 meters, so average sliding speed is about 30 meters per second. The longitudinal length of barrier dam which is formed by high-speed landslide along river is 803.4 meters; and maximum width crossing river is 611.8 meters. And its volume is estimated about 20.37 million steres. Through detailed geological investigation of the barrier dam, together with early geological information before earthquake, geological structures of the barrier dam and its stability of upstream and downstream slopes are studied when water level reaches different elevations in condition of continual after shocks with seismic intensity of 7 or 8 Richter scale. On this basis, dam-breaking mode of barrier dam is discussed deeply. Thereby, analytic results provide significant guidance and advices to front headquarters of Tangjiashan barrier dam, so that some proper engineering measures can be implemented and flood discharge can be carried out well. | HU Xiewen LUO Gang LV Xiaoping HUANG Runqiu SHI Yubin | 2011 | Journal of Mountain Science2011,8,2: | 6

Geo-engineering Lessons Learned from the 2008 Wenchuan Earthquake in Sichuan and Their Significance to Reconstruction显示文摘The 2008 Wenchuan earthquake in Sichuan of China was the result of quake-triggering along an active several hundred-kilometer-long fault. The subsequent landslides and debris flow geohazards are dominating factors in planning post-disaster recovery and rebuilding. This paper presents recommendations for coping with large-scale geohazards and disasters. It is essential to establish a national emergency management system for huge scale catastrophe and earthquake precursor identification. Town construction must be kept away from active faults, especially to improve town safety in areas with high risk of seismic and geological hazards, and it is important to improve geohazard investigation and remediation for mountain areas that have become loosened by earthquake activity. Geological factors must be better understood to reduce direct and secondary risks and effects of earthquakes. Site selections for public relocation require clear and informed analysis of geological and social risk reduction, so that relocation, infrastructure reconstruction, and commemorative relic-sites can be protected. | HUANG Runqiu | 2011 | Journal of Mountain Science2011,8,2: | 4
Dynamic Evaluation of Land Ecological Security in Anhui Province Based on PSR Model显示文摘Based on PSR framework method, the land ecological security evaluation index system of 16 cities of Anhui Province was constructed. The land ecological security value of subsystem in Anhui Province from 2000 to 2011 was calculated using the index weight which was determined by the entropy weight method, and land ecological security trend from 2012 to 2017 was forecasted using GM( 1,1) model. The results indicated that, the land ecological security index in Anhui Province from 2000 to 2017 was rising on the whole, with the average value increasing from 0. 442 in 2000 to 0. 450 in 2017,and there was a huge difference among cities; at the same time, the state index and response index of each subsystem of land ecological security also rose. GM( 1,1) model had high simulation precision and was able to predict the land ecological security level and the development trend of each subsystem of Anhui Province from 2012 to 2017. The main factors that influenced the land ecological security of Anhui Province included per capita farmland area, population density, natural growth rate of population, urbanization level, soil coordination degree, agricultural mechanization degree, and the area proportion of nature reserve, which are the focus of land ecological security regulation in the future. | Pan Runqiu Yao Xing | 2016 | Meteorological and Environmental Research2016,7,3: | 3
Pn-wave velocity and anisotropy of the western Sichuan and Longmen Mountain region,China显示文摘Pn-wave velocity and anisotropy beneath the western Sichuan and adjacent region are inverted by a tomography method using arrival data from earthquakes recorded by the Sichuan Earthquake Network. It is followed by an analysis of the uppermost mantle structure of the Longmen Mountain region and the deep tectonics of the Ms8.0 earthquake in Wenchuan. Our results reveal a prominent velocity contrast across the Longmenshan fault: low velocities in the Songpan-Ganzi mountain range and high velocities in the Sichuan basin. They indicate that the Songpan-Ganzi mountain range is underlain by a weak uppermost mantle, which is easy to create ductile flow, whereas the Sichuan basin has a mechanically strong uppermost mantle. These features reflect a difference of the lithospheric mantle beneath tectonically active mountain range and stable basin. The boundary between the high and low velocities is coincident with the Longmenshan fault. Bordered by Wenchuan, the northern part of the boundary is parallel to the fault belt and aftershock distribution, but the southern part of the boundary deviates from the fault belt and is bent toward the Sichuan basin. The Ms8.0 earthquake in Wenchuan is located at the flexural part between them, where a strong heterogeneity is shown in the velocity variation across and parallel to the boundary. This area is reasonably believed as a potential location for regional stress accumulation and release in the Longmen Mountain region, reflecting a prominent character in the deep structure around Wenchuan. Pn-wave anisotropy reveals the mantle flow that is consistent with the eastward movement of the Tibetan Plateau. This process provided deep dynamic sourse for tectonic deformation in the Longmen Mountain region and for the occurrence of the Wenchuan Ms8.0 earthquake, but it is clearly affected by the strong lithosphere of the Sichuan basin. There is no correlation between the Pn-wave anisotropy and the Longmenshan fault, hence, this fault system is only restricted within the crust. However, the mantle flow beneath the southeastern Tibetan Plateau shows a clockwise rotation along the Xianshuihe fault. We infer that these two fault systems may be controlled by different deep dynamics. | Xu Yi Li ZhiWei Huang RunQiu Liu JianHua Liu JinSong | 2010 | Science China Earth Sciences2010,53,11: | 3
Properties and Structure of Microcrystal Muscovite Composite Superabsorbent显示文摘Microcrystal muscovite composite superabsorbents(MMCSA) were prepared by water solution polymerization using acrylic acid, acrylamide and itaconic acid as comonomers and microcrystal muscovite as an inorganic additive. Properties, such as water absorbency, salt absorbency, gel strength, water retention capacity and structure of MMCSA characterized by SEM and XRD, were investigated. Water absorbency, salt absorbency, gel strength, water retention capacity and thermostability were enhanced by incorporation of suitable amount of microcrystal muscovite. Water absorption of MMCSA was rapid, requiring 24.55 min to reach 63% of equilibrium absorbency(1218 g/g). Microcrystal muscovite was physically combined into the polymeric network without destroying its polycrystalline structure and microcrystal muscovite composite superabsorbent had some irregular, undulant, and small microporous holes with sheet-like microcrystal muscovite distributed in the polymeric matrix. | 万涛 XIONG Lei HUANG Runqiu SUN Mengmeng QIN Lili TAN Xuemei HU Junyan | 2014 | Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science)2014,29,6: | 2
The Genetic Mechanism of Wenchuan Earthquake显示文摘The genetic mechanism of the 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake is still being debated and there is still no convincing general explanation for most of the phenomena. This is because researchers have ignored the important role of the Minshan block in the seismogenic process. The authors present a new opinion based on geological survey and comprehensive analyses. The Minshan block is a key tectonic element of the earthquake occurrence in the northwest triangle faulty block of Sichuan Province. The Minshan block is bordered by Longmen Mountain Range fractures in the south, the Huya fracture in the east, the Tazang fracture in the north and the Mounigou Valley fracture in the west. The rigidity of the block is relatively larger than those of the adjacent regions. The block's eastward movement pushed by regional maximum main geo-stress is limited when it suddenly tapers off near the east triangle end with a bottle-neck effect, and this causes geo-stress concentration around it. The shape of the block is coffin-like, wide in the upper part and narrow in the lower part. When a strong earthquake occurs along the block margins, the lock-up effect temporarily released, resulting in geo-stress transmitted to the Pingwu-Qingchuan (Motianling block) region. This transmission caused the Wenchuan earthquake's aftershocks to be concentrated in Qingchuan region. As the block moved eastward, the back of the block, i.e. the south segment of Mounigou Valley fracture, became active after the Wenchuan Earthquake. Therefore the aftershocks were concentrated along the south segment of Mounigou Valley fracture. Because the south margin is composed of the front range fracture, the geo-stress gradually released, causing many aftershocks along the Guanxian-Anxian fracture. The geological survey made after the Wenchuan Earthquake reveals that the surface ruptures in the south margin of Minshan block occur not along the Beichuan-Yingxiu fracture (central fracture) also along the front range fracture. The length of the surface rupture in the south margin ranges from several meters to several kilometers and it is distributed in en echelon (closely-spaced, parallel or subparallel, step-like surface ruptures). The vertical and horizontal displacements range from place to place and the thrusting component is dominant in the middle segment of Longmen Mountain Range structure belt. Nevertheless, the strike slip of the surface ruptures is dominant in the north segment of Longmen Mountain Range structure belt. Therefore the south margin is the original seismic structure. The sudden thrusting of the south margin of the Minshan block is the source event for the Wenchuan Earthquake. | WANG Yunsheng HUANG Runqiu LUO Yonghong XU Hongbiao | 2011 | Journal of Mountain Science2011,8,2: | 2
Application of dynamic analysis of strength reduction in the slope engineering under earthquake显示文摘At present, the methods of analyzing the stability of slope under earthquake are not accurate and reasonable because of some limitations. Based on the real dynamic tensile-shear failure mechanism of slope, the paper proposes dynamic analysis of strength reduction FEM (finite element method) and takes the reduction of shear strength parameters and tensile strength parameters into consideration. And it comprehensively takes the transfixion of the failure surface, the non-convergence of calculation and mutation of displacement as the criterion of dynamic instability and failure of the slope. The strength reduction factor under limit state is regarded as the dynamic safety factor of the slope under earthquake effect and its advantages are introduced. Finally, the method is applied in the seismic design of anchors supporting and anti-slide pile supporting of the slope. Calculation examples show that the application of dynamic analysis of strength reduction is feasible in the seismic design of slope engineering, which can consider dynamic interaction of supporting structure and rock-soil mass. Owing to its preciseness and great advantages,it is a new method in the seismic design of slope supporting. | Ye Hailin Zheng yingren Huang Runqiu Li Anhong Du Xiuli | 2010 | Engineering Sciences2010,8,3: | 2

A preliminary study on the volcanic intrusive complex type beryllium metallogenic belt from the southeast coast of China显示文摘Beryllium(Be)is one of the unsubstitutable key metals in strategic emerging industries and national defense industries, mainly originating from volcanogenic Be deposits. Thus, volcanogenic Be deposits have become important research objects of key metal deposits, with a focus on their occurrence, metallogenic mechanism, and resource distribution. In the southeast coast of China, the Late Mesozoic volcanic intrusive complex has a good Be metallogenic background, and strong Be mineralization occurs in some areas.Field geological investigation and analyses of samples from Southeast Zhejiang as well as Northeast and Southeast Fujian indicate that Be mineralization in the southeast coast of China is closely related to the hydrothermal processes in the volcanic intrusive complex. In Southeast Zhejiang,Be ore in the Qingtian area mainly occurs in granite porphyry, with the Be content reaching 939 ppm, while strong Be mineralization from Zhangji rhyolite porphyry in the Pingyang area contains up to 11400 ppm Be.In Xiapu County,Northeastern Fujian, the Dawan Be deposit is characterized by constituents of helvite and beryl. In Pinghe County,Southeastern Fujian, the Fulishi Be ore is a quartz vein beryl-type ore. These results suggest that the volcanic intrusive complex area in the southeast coast of China has a wide range of Be mineralization and better Be metallogenic potential, and it is expected to become an important Be metallogenic belt in China. Thus,we should thoroughly investigate the Be resources of granite porphyry, rhyolite porphyry, quartz porphyry, and quartz vein in this volcanic rock area, which can provide a theoretical basis for the exploration and guiding prospecting of volcanic intrusive complex Be deposits. | Can RAO Rucheng WANG Fuyuan WU Xudong CHE Xiaofeng LI Qi WANG Zhiqi ZHANG Runqiu WU | 2022 | Science China Earth Sciences2022,65,8: | 2
Determination of T-stress using finite element analysis显示文摘A method that uses finite element analysis to determine the non-singular stress(T-stress) at a crack tip is proposed in this study.T-stress includes two components:the T_x-stress parallel to the tangent of the crack at its tip and the 7Vstress perpendicular to this tangent. The effects of contact and friction on both the T_x-and T_y-stresses on the crack flanks are considered in the method.Because the method uses a single standard elastic finite element analysis derived directly from the equation of the stress fields around the crack tip and does not require any assumptions or simplification,it can be used to determine the T-stress for any given geometry and loading condition.Theoretical results are used to calibrate the results, which exhibited good agreement and to discuss the T-stress computational methodology.Furthermore, the T_x-and T_y-stresses in center-cracked Brazilian disc(CCBD) specimens subjected to diametrical or partially distributed compression were numerically computed, and the effects of contact and friction on the T_x-and T_y-stresses are discussed. | TANG ShiBin DONG Zuo HUANG RunQiu | 2017 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2017,60,8: | 2
