2Effects of pH and soil texture on the adsorption and transport of Cd in soils显示文摘To better understand the adsorption and transport of Cd2+ in soils, column experiments were conducted with various soils and inflow solutions with different pH values. Breakthrough curves (BTCs) of the column tests were fitted using both the equilibrium and non-equilibrium models installed in the program of CXTFIT. Results showed that the equilibrium model fitted most of BTCs reasonably well. Values of the retardation factor (R) and the distribution coefficient (kd) for Cd2+ adsorption and transport increased with increasing pH values of the inflow solution and of the soil. However, the clay content was not a key factor to affect R and kd for Cd2+ adsorption and transport. 4A pulsed switching peroxi-coagulation process to control hydroxyl radical production and to enhance 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid degradation显示文摘The aim of this study was to develop a new pulsed switching peroxi-coagulation system to control hydroxyl radical(∙OH)production and to enhance 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid(2,4-D)degradation.The system was constructed with a sacrifice iron anode,a Pt anode,and a gas diffusion cathode.Production of H_(2)O_(2) and Fe^(2+)was controlled separately by time delayers with different pulsed switching frequencies.Under current densities of 5.0 mA/cm^(2)(H_(2)O_(2))and 0.5 mA/cm^(2)(Fe^(2+)),the∙OH production was optimized with the pulsed switching frequency of 1.0 s(H_(2)O_(2)):0.3 s(Fe^(2+))and the ratio of H_(2)O_(2) to Fe^(2+)molar concentrations of 6.6.Under the optimal condition,2,4-D with an initial concentration of 500 mg/L was completely removed in the system within 240 min.The energy consumption for the 2,4-D removal in the system was much lower than that in the electro-Fenton process(686 vs.13610 kWh/kg TOC).The iron consumption in the system was~20 times as low as that in the peroxi-coagulation process(19620 vs.3940400 mg/L)within 240 min.The system should be a promising peroxi-coagulation method for organic pollutants removal in wastewater.Yaobin Lu Songli He Dantong Wang Siyuan Luo Aiping Liu Haiping Luo Guangli Liu Renduo Zhang 2018Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2018,12,5:3
5Hybrid waveguide scheme for silicon-based quantum photonic circuits with quantum light sources显示文摘We propose a hybrid silicon waveguide scheme to avoid the impact of noise photons induced by pump lights in application scenarios of quantum photonic circuits with quantum light sources.The scheme is composed of strip waveguide and shallow-ridge waveguide structures.It utilizes the difference of biphoton spectra generated by spontaneous four-wave mixing(SFWM)in these two waveguides.By proper pumping setting and signal/idler wavelength selection,the generation of desired photon pairs is confined in the strip waveguide.The impact of noise photons generated by SFWM in the shallow-ridge waveguide can be avoided.Hence,the shallowridge waveguide could be used to realize various linear operation devices for pump light and quantum state manipulations.The feasibility of this scheme is verified by theoretical analysis and a primary experiment.Two applications are proposed and analyzed,showing its great potential in silicon-based quantum photonic circuits.LINGJIE YU CHENZHI YUAN RENDUO QI YIDONG HUANG WEI ZHANG 2020Photonics Research2020,8,3:3
6Effects of irrigation efficiency on chemical transport processes显示文摘Irrigation practices greatly affect sustainable agriculture development. In this study, we investigated the effects of irrigation efficiency on water flow and chemical transport in soils, which had significant impact on the environment. Field dye staining experiments were conducted at different soils with various irrigation amount. Image analysis was conducted to study the heterogeneous flow patterns and their relationships with the irrigation efficiency. Irrigation efficiency and its environmental effects were evaluated using various indictors, including application efficiency, deep percolation ratio, storage efficiency, and uniformity. Under the same irrigation condition, soil chemical distributions were more heterogeneous than soil water distributions. The distributions were mainly affected by soil texture, initial soil water content, and irrigation amount. Storage efficiency, irrigation uniformity, and deep percolation ratio increased with irrigation amount. Since the chemical distribution uniformity was lower than the water uniformity, the amount of chemical leaching increased sharply with decrease of irrigation uniformity, which resulted in high environmental risks of groundwater pollution.WANG Kang ZHANG RenDuo SHENG Feng 2009Science China(Technological Sciences)2009,52,11:2

18Estimation of Soil Water Retention Curve: An Asymmetrical Pore-Solid Fractal Model显示文摘The soil water retention curve is an important hydraulic function for the study of flow transport processes in unsaturated soils. The objective of this study was to develop a soil water retention function using a generalized fractal approach. The model exhibits asymmetry between the solid phase and pore phase, which is in marked contrast to the symmetry between phases present in a conventional fractal model. The retention function includes 4 parameters: the saturated water content θs, the air entry value ha, the fractal dimension Df, and an empirical parameter β, characterizing the complicated soil pore structures. Sixty one data sets, covering a wide range of soil structure and textural properties, were used to evaluate the applicability of the proposed soil water retention function. The retention function is shown to be a general model, which incorporates several existing retention models. The values of β/θs and (θs-θr )/β were used as indexes to quantify the relationships between the proposed retention function and the existing retention models.
