6An Effective Hybrid Model of ELM and Enhanced GWO for Estimating Compressive Strength of Metakaolin-Contained Cemented Materials显示文摘This research proposes a highly effective soft computing paradigm for estimating the compressive strength(CS)of metakaolin-contained cemented materials.The proposed approach is a combination of an enhanced grey wolf optimizer(EGWO)and an extreme learning machine(ELM).EGWO is an augmented form of the classic grey wolf optimizer(GWO).Compared to standard GWO,EGWO has a better hunting mechanism and produces an optimal performance.The EGWO was used to optimize the ELM structure and a hybrid model,ELM-EGWO,was built.To train and validate the proposed ELM-EGWO model,a sum of 361 experimental results featuring five influencing factors was collected.Based on sensitivity analysis,three distinct cases of influencing parameters were considered to investigate the effect of influencing factors on predictive precision.Experimental consequences show that the constructed ELM-EGWO achieved the most accurate precision in both training(RMSE=0.0959)and testing(RMSE=0.0912)phases.The outcomes of the ELM-EGWO are significantly superior to those of deep neural networks(DNN),k-nearest neighbors(KNN),long short-term memory(LSTM),and other hybrid ELMs constructed with GWO,particle swarm optimization(PSO),harris hawks optimization(HHO),salp swarm algorithm(SSA),marine predators algorithm(MPA),and colony predation algorithm(CPA).The overall results demonstrate that the newly suggested ELM-EGWO has the potential to estimate the CS of metakaolin-contained cemented materials with a high degree of precision and robustness.Abidhan Bardhan Raushan Kumar Singh Mohammed Alatiyyah Sulaiman Abdullah Alateyah 2024Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2024,139,5:0
7Colorectal cancer fecal screening test completion after age 74,sources and outcomes in French program显示文摘BACKGROUND Elderly patients aged at least 75 years old(Elderly_75),represent 45%of colorectal cancer(CRC)incidence.As others,the French Colorectal Cancer Screening Program(CRCSP)does not include Elderly_75.To date,there is little evidence to justify stopping screening at 74 years of age.AIM To describe CRC fecal screening test completion after age 74,source(CRCSP/Provider ordered)and outcomes of these tests.METHODS The study concerned 18704 Elderly_75 residing in eleven French districts(Ain,Doubs,Essonne,Haute-Saone,Hauts-de-Seine,Jura,Seine-Saint-Denis,Territoire-de-Belfort,Val-de-Marne,Val-d'Oise,Yonne),having performed a CRC screening test between January 2008 and December 2017.The tests performed in a circumstance of delayed response to a solicitation(DRS)from the local cancer screening managing center(Managing-Center)were distinguished from the tests non-solicited by the Managing-Center,performed after a recommendation by a General Practitioner(GP)or other provider ordered(RGP).DRS was any test realized by an Elderly_75 following an initial invitation from the ManagingCenter with a maximum 24 mo after this invitation.Any Non-DRS test was considered RGP.The outcomes of these tests were described according to the circumstances of test completion.RESULTS Of 18995 screening-tests were performed at ages:75(83.5%),76-80(13.4%)and>80(3.1%)years old.Elderly_75 performed the screening test in a circumstance of DRS(71.9%)or RGP(28.1%).The proportion of the tests that could not be analyzed and not restarted was 13.2%.For these unanalyzed tests,the reason was age-related in 78.0%of cases,related to the laboratory's refusal to analyze the test of people aged≥77.Reported colonoscopy completion rate was 81.3%.For those575 people with reported colonoscopy,no complication was listed.18.0%of the366 Elderly_75 with lesions had no anteriority in the CRCSP.The neoplasia(124 Low-risk-polyps,159 High-risk-polyps,13 Unspecified-polyps and 70 CRCs)detection rate was 19.3/1000 Elderly_75 screened and the CRC detection rate was3.7/1000 Elderly_75 screened.CONCLUSION The high rate of colonoscopy completion after a positive test and the high proportion of screened lesions observed suggest that the lengthening of the screening period could allow significant detection of CRC and polyps that occur in Elderly_75 excluded from CRCSP.Akoi Koivogui Christian Balamou Raushan Rymzhanova Tu Letrung Hamou Ait Hadad Zahida Brixi Stéphane Cornelis Hélène Delattre-Massy Thomas Aparicio Robert Benamouzig 2019World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology2019,11,9:0
8Comparison of sublingual microcirculatory parameters measured by sidestream darkfield videomicroscopy in anesthetized pigs and adult humans显示文摘Background:This study aimed to compare sublingual microcirculatory parameters between anesthetized pigs and conscious adult humans using sidestream darkfield videomicroscopy.The overarching aim of the work was to validate the pig as an experimental model of changes in microcirculatory function following traumatic haemorrhagic shock and resuscitation.Methods:Fourteen large white pigs and 14 humans were recruited for the study.Sublingual sidestream darkfield videomicroscopy clips were captured in anesthetized pigs and conscious humans.Clips underwent manual analysis in Automated Vascular Analysis 3.2 software.The total vessel density(TVD),perfused vessel density(PVD),proportion of perfused vessels(PPVs)and microvascular flow index(MFI)were quantified.An independent samples t test was used for between species comparison of microcirculatory parameters.Results and Conclusions:Conscious humans had a significantly lower TVD,PVD and MFI than anesthetized pigs.No significant difference in PPVs was observed between the species.Perfusion of the microcirculation is a critical determinant of tissue metabolic function and viability.Whilst it may not be surprising that some inter species differences in the sublingual microcirculatory anatomy were identified between pig and human subjects,it is interesting to report the insignificant difference in PPVs.This direct microcirculatory measure represents a relative change which should hold translatable value across species.We therefore conclude the pig is a suitable model for microcirculatory research and may be a suitable species to investigate changes in microcirculatory perfusion following perturbations in cardiovascular homeostasis,for example during traumatic haemorrhagic shock and resuscitation.Raushan Lala Ryan Homes Shaun Pratt Wendy Goodwin Mark Midwinter 2023Animal Models and Experimental Medicine2023,6,5:0

10Approaches to identifying drug resistance mechanisms to clinically relevant treatments in childhood rhabdomyosarcoma显示文摘Aim:Despite aggressive multiagent protocols,patients with metastatic rhabdomyosarcoma(RMS)have poor prognosis.In a recent high-risk trial(ARST0431),25% of patients failed within the first year,while on therapy and 80% had tumor progression within 24 months.However,the mechanisms for tumor resistance are essentially unknown.Here we explore the use of preclinical models to develop resistance to complex chemotherapy regimens used in ARST0431.Methods:A Single Mouse Testing(SMT)protocol was used to evaluate the sensitivity of 34 RMS xenograft models to one cycle of vincristine,actinomycin D,cyclophosphamide(VAC)treatment.Tumor response was determined by caliper measurement,and tumor regression and event-free survival(EFS)were used as endpoints for evaluation.Treated tumors at regrowth were transplanted into recipient mice,and the treatment was repeated until tumors progressed during the treatment period(i.e.,became resistant).At transplant,tumor tissue was stored for biochemical and omics analysis.Results:The sensitivity to VAC of 34 RMS models was determined.EFS varied from 3 weeks to>20 weeks.Tumor models were classified as having intrinsic resistance,intermediate sensitivity,or high sensitivity to VAC therapy.Resistance to VAC was developed in multiple models after 2-5 cycles of therapy;however,there were examples where sensitivity remained unchanged after 3 cycles of treatment.Conclusion:The SMT approach allows for in vivo assessment of drug sensitivity and development of drug resistance in a large number of RMS models.As such,it provides a platform for assessing in vivo drug resistance mechanisms at a“population”level,simulating conditions in vivo that lead to clinical resistance.These VAC-resistant models represent“high-risk”tumors that mimic a preclinical phase 2 population and will be valuable for identifying novel agents active against VAC-resistant disease.Samson Ghilu Christopher L.Morton Angelina V.Vaseva Siyuan Zheng Raushan T.Kurmasheva Peter J.Houghton 2022Cancer Drug Resistance2022,5,1:0
11Assessment of molecular markers and marker-assisted selection for drought tolerance in barley(Hordeum vulgare L.)显示文摘This review updates the present status of the field of molecular markers and marker-assisted selection(MAS),using the example of drought tolerance in barley.The accuracy of selected quantitative trait loci(QTLs),candidate genes and suggested markers was assessed in the barley genome cv.Morex.Six common strategies are described for molecular marker development,candidate gene identification and verification,and their possible applications in MAS to improve the grain yield and yield components in barley under drought stress.These strategies are based on the following five principles:(1)Molecular markers are designated as genomic‘tags’,and their‘prediction’is strongly dependent on their distance from a candidate gene on genetic or physical maps;(2)plants react differently under favourable and stressful conditions or depending on their stage of development;(3)each candidate gene must be verified by confirming its expression in the relevant conditions,e.g.,drought;(4)the molecular marker identified must be validated for MAS for tolerance to drought stress and improved grain yield;and(5)the small number of molecular markers realized for MAS in breeding,from among the many studies targeting candidate genes,can be explained by the complex nature of drought stress,and multiple stress-responsive genes in each barley genotype that are expressed differentially depending on many other factors.Akmaral Baidyussen Gulmira Khassanova Maral Utebayev Satyvaldy Jatayev Rystay Kushanova Sholpan Khalbayeva Aigul Amangeldiyeva Raushan Yerzhebayeva KulpashBulatova Carly Schramm Peter Anderson Colin L.D.Jenkins Kathleen LSoole Yuri Shavrukov 2024Journal of Integrative Agriculture2024,23,1:0
