| 1 | Role of the JNK signal transduction pathway in inflammatory bowel disease显示文摘The c-Jun NH2-terminal Kinase (JNK) pathway representsone sub-group of the mitogen-activated protein (MAP)kinases which plays an important role in variousinflammatory diseases states, including inflammatorybowel disease (IBD). Significant progress towardsunderstanding the function of the JNK signaling pathwayhas been achieved during the past few years. | 2 | Physiological and biochemical appraisal for mulching and partial rhizosphere drying of cotton显示文摘Water is the main factor for the healthy life of plant.One of the main negative effects of climate change is the increasing scarcity of water that is lethal for plant.Globally,for water deficit regions(arid and semi-arid),drought is the main factor responsible for low production of agriculture,especially for cotton.Great efforts have been and are being made to find alternatives to water saving practices.This study aimed to examine the effects of partial rhizosphere drying(PRD,half of the root system irrigated at one event,and the other half irrigated in the next event,and so on)with and/or without various mulching treatments on physiological and biochemical traits of cotton.To explore this objective,we laid out experiments in completely randomized design with factorial arrangement in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur,Pakistan in 2016.Two factors included were four mulching treatments(M0,no mulching;M1,black plastic mulching;M2,wheat straw mulching;and M3,cotton sticks mulching)and two irrigation levels(I0,control(full irrigation);and I1,PRD).Fisher's analysis of variance among means of treatments was compared using least significant difference test at 5% probability level.Results revealed that the maximum plant height,leaf area,leaf gas exchange(photosynthetic rate and stomata conductance),chlorophyll,proline and total sugar contents,and enzyme activities were higher under M2 than under other three mulching treatments.As for irrigation levels,higher values of plant height,photosynthesis and water related parameters(leaf water potential,leaf osmotic potential,leaf turgor potential,etc.)were recorded.Contents of total sugar and proline and activities of antioxidant enzymes were significantly higher in PRD-treated plants than in control plants.It was concluded that combined application of PRD and mulching was more effective than the rest of the treatments used in the experiment.Similar study can be conducted in the field by applying irrigation water in alternate rows in semi-arid regions. | Rashid IQBAL Muhammad A S RAZA Muhammad F SALEEM Imran H KHAN Salman AHMAD Muhammad S ZAHEER Muhammad U ASLAM Imran HAIDER | 2019 | Journal of Arid Land2019，11，5： | 2 |
| 3 | Sinapic acid ameliorates D-galactosamine/lipopolysaccharideinduced fulminant hepatitis in rats:Role of nuclear factor erythroidrelated factor 2/heme oxygenase-1 pathways显示文摘BACKGROUND Sinapic acid(SA)has been shown to have various pharmacological properties such as antioxidant,antifibrotic,anti-inflammatory,and anticancer activities.Its mechanism of action is dependent upon its ability to curb free radical production and protect against oxidative stress-induced tissue injuries.AIM To study the hepatoprotective effects of SA against lipopolysaccharide(LPS)/Dgalactosamine(D-GalN)-induced acute liver failure(ALF)in rats.METHODS Experimental ALF was induced with an intraperitoneal(i.p.)administration of 8μg LPS and 800 mg/kg D-GalN in normal saline.SA was administered orally once daily starting 7 d before LPS/D-GalN treatment.RESULTS Data showed that SA ameliorates acute liver dysfunction,decreases serum levels of alanine transaminase(ALT),and aspartate aminotransferase(AST),as well as malondialdehyde(MDA)and NO levels in ALF model rats.However,pretreatment with SA(20 mg/kg and 40 mg/kg)reduced nuclear factor kappalight-chain-enhancer of activated B cells(NF-κB)activation and levels of inflammatory cytokines(tumor necrosis factor-αand interleukin 6).Also,SA increased the activity of the nuclear factor erythroid-related factor 2/heme oxygenase-1(Nrf2/HO-1)signaling pathway.CONCLUSION In conclusion,SA offers significant protection against LPS/D-GalN-induced ALF in rats by upregulating Nrf2/HO-1 and downregulating NF-κB. | Mushtaq Ahmad Ansari Mohammad Raish Yousef A Bin Jardan Ajaz Ahmad Mudassar Shahid SheikhFayaz Ahmad Nazrul Haq Mohammad Rashid Khan Saleh A Bakheet | 2021 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2021，27，7： | 2 |
| 4 | Structural, electronic, and optical properties of ZnO_(1-x)Se_x alloys using first-principles calculations显示文摘The structural, electronic, and optical properties of binary ZnO, ZnSe compounds, and their ternary ZnO 1-x Se x alloys are computed using the accurate full potential linearized augmented plane wave plus local orbital (FP-LAPW + lo) method in the rocksalt (B1) and zincblende (B3) crystallographic phases. The electronic band structures, fundamental energy band gaps, and densities of states for ZnO 1-x Se x are evaluated in the range 0 ≤ x ≤ 1 using Wu-Cohen (WC) generalized gradient approximation (GGA) for the exchange-correlation potential. Our calculated results of lattice parameters and bulk modulus reveal a nonlinear variation for pseudo-binary and their ternary alloys in both phases and show a considerable deviation from Vegard's law. It is observed that the predicted lattice parameter and bulk modulus are in good agreement with the available experimental and theoretical data. We establish that the composition dependence of band gap is semi-metallic in B1 phase, while a direct band gap is observed in B3 phase. | 5 | Mapping of three QTLs for seed setting and analysis on the candidate gene for qSS-1 in rice(Oryza sativa L.)显示文摘The lower seed setting is one of the major hindrances which face grain yield in rice.One of the main reasons to cause low spikelet fertility(seed setting)is male sterility or pollen abortion.Notably,pollen abortion has been frequently observed in advanced progenies of rice.In the present study,149 BC_2F_6 individuals with significant segregation in spikelet fertility were generated from the cross between N040212(indica)and Nipponbare(japonica)and used for primary gene mapping.Three QTLs,qSS-1,qSS-7 and qSS-9 at chromosomes 1,7 and 9,respectively,were found to be associated with seed setting.The recombinant analysis and the physical mapping information from publicly available resources exhibited that the qSS-1,qSS-7 and qSS-9 loci were mapped to an interval of 188,701 and 3741 kb,respectively.The seed setting responsible for QTL qSS-1 was further fine mapped to 93.5 kb by using BC_2F_7 population of 1 849 individuals.There are 16possible putative genes in this 93.5 kb region.Pollen vitality tests and artificial pollination indicated that the male gamete has abnormal pollen while the female gamete was normal.These data showed that low seed setting rate relative to qSS-1may be caused by abnormal pollen grains.These results will be useful for cloning,functional analysis of the target gene governing spikelet fertility(seed setting)and understanding the genetic bases of pollen sterility. | Elsheikh Y M Ahmed ZHANG Yan-pei YU Jian-ping Rashid M A Rehman ZHANG Zhan-ying ZHANG Hong-liang LI Jin-jie LI Zi-chao | 2016 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2016，15，4： | 2 |
