| 1 | The effects of the guide field on the structures of electron density depletions in collisionless magnetic reconnection显示文摘Two-dimensional particle-in-cell simulations are performed to investigate the formation of electron density depletions in collisionless magnetic reconnection.In anti-parallel reconnection,the quadrupole structures of the out-of-plane magnetic field are formed,and four symmetric electron density depletion layers can be found along the separatrices due to the effects of magetic mirror.With the increase of the initial guide field,the symmetry of both the out-of-plane magnetic field and electron density depletion layers is distorted.When the initial guide field is sufficiently large,the electron density depletion layers along the lower left and upper right separatrices disappear.The parallel electric field in guide field reconnection is found to play an important role in forming such structures of the electron density depletion layers.The structures of the out-of-plane magnetic field By and electron depletion layers in anti-parallel and guide field reconnection are found to be related to electron flow or in-plane currents in the separatrix regions.In anti-parallel reconnection,electrons flow towards the X line along the separatrices,and are directed away from the X line along the magnetic field lines just inside the separatrices.In guide field reconnection,electrons can only flow towards the X line along the upper left and lower right separatrices due to the existence of the parallel electric field in these regions. | LU San LU QuanMing CAO Yang HUANG Can XIE JinLin WANG Shui | 2011 | Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,1: | 8 |
| 2 | Electron dynamics in collisionless magnetic reconnection显示文摘Magnetic reconnection provides a physical mechanism for fast energy conversion from magnetic energy to plasma kinetic energy. It is closely associated with many explosive phenomena in space plasma, usually collisionless in character. For this reason, researchers have become more interested in collisionless magnetic reconnection. In this paper, the various roles of electron dynamics in collisionless magnetic reconnection are reviewed. First, at the ion inertial length scale, ions and electrons are decoupled. The resulting Hall effect determines the reconnection electric field. Moreover, electron motions determine the current system inside the reconnection plane and the electron density cavity along the separatrices. The current system in this plane produces an out-of-plane magnetic field. Second, at the electron inertial length scale, the anisotropy of electron pressure determines the magnitude of the reconnection electric field in this region. The production of energetic electrons, which is an important characteristic during magnetic reconnection, is accelerated by the reconnection electric field. In addition, the different topologies, temporal evolution and spatial distribution of the magnetic field affect the accelerating process of electrons and determine the final energy of the accelerated electrons. Third, we discuss results from simulations and spacecraft observations on the secondary magnetic islands produced due to secondary instabilities around the X point, and the associated energetic electrons. Furthermore, progress in laboratory plasma studies is also discussed in regard to electron dynamics during magnetic reconnection. | 4 | Enhanced Performance of Osteoblasts by Silicon Incorporated Porous TiO_2 Coating显示文摘Silicon (Si) incorporated porous TiO 2 coating (Si-TiO 2) prepared on titanium (Ti) by micro-arc oxidation (MAO) technique was demonstrated to be cytocompatible in previous studies.In view of the potential clinical applications,a detailed in vitro study of the biological activity of Si-TiO 2 coating,in terms of osteoblast (MC3T3-E1 cells) morphology,proliferation,differentiation and mineralization was performed.Immunofluorescent staining indicated that cells seeded on the Si-TiO 2 coating showed improved adhesion with developing mature cytoskeletons,which contained numerous distinct and well-defined actin stress fibers in the cell membranes compared with those on the TiO 2 coating and Ti plate.Results from proliferation assay showed that the proliferation rate of cells seeded on the Si-TiO 2 coating was significantly faster than that on the TiO 2 coating and Ti plate.Furthermore,the analysis of osteogenic gene expression demonstrated that the Si-TiO 2 coating stimulated the expression of osteoblast-related genes and promoted differentiation and mineralization of MC3T3-E1 cells.In addition,the Si-TiO 2 coating differentially regulated Wnt signaling pathway by up-regulating the expression of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor-related protein 5 (Lrp5),and downregulating the expression of Dickkopf-1 (Dkk1).All together,these results indicate that the investigated titanium with Si-TiO 2 coating is biocompatible and a good candidate material used as implants. | Quanming Wang Hongjie Hu Yuqing Qiao Zhengxiang Zheng Junying Sun | 2012 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2012,28,2: | 5 |

| 6 | Macroporous Ni foam-supported Co_3O_4 nanobrush and nanomace hybrid arrays for high-efficiency CO oxidation显示文摘Herein, we reported the synthesis of well-defined Co_3O_4 nanoarrays(NAs) supported on a monolithic three-dimensional macroporous nickel(Ni) foam substrate for use in highefficiency CO oxidation. The monolithic Co_3O_4 NAs catalysts were obtained through a generic hydrothermal synthesis route with subsequent calcination. By controlling the reaction time,solvent polarity and deposition agent, these Co_3O_4 NAs catalysts exhibited various novel morphologies(single or hybrid arrays), whose physicochemical properties were further characterized by using several analytical techniques. Based on the catalytic and characterization analyses, it was found that the Co_3O_4 NAs-6 catalyst with nanobrush and nanomace arrays displayed enhanced catalytic activity for CO oxidation, achieving an efficient 100% CO oxidation conversion at a gas hourly space velocity(GHSV) 10,000 hr^(-1) and 150°C with longterm stability. | 16 | Identification and characterization of BoPUB3: a novel interaction protein with S-locus receptor kinase in Brassica oleracea L.显示文摘Armadillo repeat containing 1 (ARC1) is phosphorylated by S-locus receptor kinase (SRK) and functions as a positive regulator in self-incompatibility response of Brassica. However, ARC1 only causes partial breakdown of the self-incompatibility response, and other SRK downstream factors may also participate in the self-incompatibility signaling pathway. In the present study, to search for SRK downstream targets, a plant U-box protein 3 (BoPUB3) was identified from the stigma of Brassica oleracea L. BoPUB3 was highly expressed in the stigma, and its expression was increased with the stigma development and reached to the highest level in the mature-stage stigma. BoPUB3, a 76.8-kDa protein with 697 amino acids, is a member of the PUB-ARM family and contains three domain characteristics of BoARC1, including a U-box N-terminal domain, a U-box motif, and a C-terminal arm repeat domain. The phylogenic tree showed that BoPUB3 was close to BoARC1. The synteny analysis revealed that B. oleracea chromosomal region containing BoPUB3 had high synteny with the Arabidopsis thaliana chromosomal region containing AtPUB3 (At3G54790). In addition, the subcellular localization analysis showed that BoPUB3 primarily localized in the plasma membrane and also in the cytoplasm. The combination of the yeast two-hybrid and in vitro binding assay showed that both BoPUB3 and BoARC1 could interact with SRK kinase domain, and SRK showed much higher level of β-galactosidase activity in its interaction with BoPUB3 than with BoARC1. | 18 | Endovascular stent-grafts for acute and chronic type B aortic dissection: comparison of clinical outcomes显示文摘Objective To evaluate the early and mid-term results of endovascular repair for acute and chronic type B aortic dissection, and to compare the clinical outcomes between the 2 groups. Methods From May 2002 to December 2006, 50 patients with type B aortic dissection were treated by endovascular stent-graft. There were 23 patients in the acute aortic dissection (AAD) group and 27 patients in the chronic aortic dissection (CAD) group. All patients were followed up from 1 to 54 months (average, 17±16 months).The immediate and follow-up clinical outcomes were documented and compared between the 2 groups. Results Placement of endovascular stent-grafts across the primary entry tears was technically successful in all 50 patients. Compared to the CAD group, the AAD group had a higher percentage of pleural effusion (17.4% vs. 0%, P=0.04) and visceral /leg ischemia (26.1% vs 3.7%, P=0.04). Procedure related complications, including endoleak and post-implantation syndrome, occurred more frequently in the AAD group than in the CAD group (21.7% vs 3.7% and 30.4% vs 11.1%, respectively; P=0.08 and P=0.04). Kaplan–Meier analysis showed no difference in the survival rate at 4 years between the 2 groups (86.4% vs 92.3%, P=0.42 by log-rank test). However, the event-free survival rate was higher in patients with chronic dissection than in patients with acute aortic dissection(96.2% vs 73.9%; P=0.02 by log-rank test). Conclu- sions Endovascular repair with stent-graft was safe and effective for the treatment of both acute and chronic type B aortic dissection.
