Self-Healing,Self-Adhesive and Stable Organohydrogel-Based Stretchable Oxygen Sensor with High Performance at Room Temperature显示文摘With the advent of the 5G era and the rise of the Internet of Things, various sensors have received unprecedented attention, especially wearable and stretchable sensors in the healthcare field. Here,a stretchable,self-healable,self-adhesive,and room-temperature oxygen sensor with excellent repeatability,a full concentration detection range(0-100%),low theoretical limit of detection(5.7 ppm),high sensitivity(0.2%/ppm),good linearity, excellent temperature, and humidity tolerances is fabricated by using polyacrylamide-chitosan(PAM-CS)double network(DN)organohydrogel as a novel transducing material. The PAM-CS DN organohydrogel is transformed from the PAM-CS composite hydrogel using a facile soaking and solvent replacement strategy.Compared with the pristine hydrogel, the DN organohydrogel displays greatly enhanced mechanical strength, moisture retention, freezing resistance, and sensitivity to oxygen.Notably, applying the tensile strain improves both the sensitivity and response speed of the organohydrogel-based oxygen sensor.Furthermore, the response to the same concentration of oxygen before and after self-healing is basically the same.Importantly,we propose an electrochemical reaction mechanism to explain the positive current shift of the oxygen sensor and corroborate this sensing mechanism through rationally designed experiments. The organohydrogel oxygen sensor is used to monitor human respiration in real-time,verifying the feasibility of its practical application. This work provides ideas for fabricating more stretchable,self-healable,self-adhesive,and high-performance gas sensors using ion-conducting organohydrogels. | Yuning Liang Zixuan Wu Yaoming Wei Qiongling Ding Meital Zilberman Kai Tao Xi Xie Jin Wu | 2022 | Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,3: | 5
Humidity Sensing of Stretchable and Transparent Hydrogel Films for Wireless Respiration Monitoring显示文摘Respiratory monitoring plays a pivotal role in health assessment and provides an important application prospect for flexible humidity sensors. However, traditional humidity sensors suffer from a trade-off between deformability, sensitivity, and transparency, and thus the development of high-performance,stretchable,and low-cost humidity sensors is urgently needed as wearable electronics. Here, ultrasensitive, highly deformable, and transparent humidity sensors are fabricated based on cost-effective polyacrylamide-based double network hydrogels.Concomitantly,a general method for preparing hydrogel films with controllable thickness is proposed to boost the sensitivity of hydrogel-based sensors due to the extensively increased specific surface area, which can be applied to different polymer networks and facilitate the development of flexible integrated electronics. In addition, sustainable tapioca rich in hydrophilic polar groups is introduced for the first time as a second cross-linked network, exhibiting excellent water adsorption capacity.Through the synergistic optimization of structure and composition, the obtained hydrogel film exhibits an ultrahigh sensitivity of 13,462.1%/%RH,which is unprecedented. Moreover, the hydrogel film-based sensor exhibits excellent repeatability and the ability to work normally under stretching with even enhanced sensitivity. As a proof of concept,we integrate the stretchable sensor with a specially designed wireless circuit and mask to fabricate a wireless respiratory interruption detection system with Bluetooth transmission, enabling real-time monitoring of human health status. This work provides a general strategy to construct high-performance,stretchable,and miniaturized hydrogel-based sensors as next-generation wearable devices for real-time monitoring of various physiological signals. | Yuning Liang Qiongling Ding Hao Wang Zixuan Wu Jianye Li Zhenyi Li Kai Tao Xuchun Gui Jin Wu | 2022 | Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,11: | 5
Stretchable, self‐healable, and breathable biomimetic iontronics with superior humidity‐sensing performance for wireless respiration monitoring显示文摘Stretchable, self‐healing, and breathable skin‐biomimetic‐sensing iontronics play an important role in human physiological signal monitoring and human–computer interaction. However, previous studies have focused on the mimicking of skin tactile sensing(pressure, strain, and temperature),and the development of more functionalities is necessary. To this end,a superior humidity‐sensitive ionic skin is developed based on a self‐healing, stretchable, breathable, and biocompatible polyvinyl alcohol–cellulose nanofibers organohydrogel film, showing a pronounced thickness‐dependent humidity‐sensing performance. The as‐prepared 62.47‐μm‐thick organohydrogel film exhibits a high response(25,000%)to 98%RH,excellent repeatability, and long‐term stability(120 days). Moreover, this ionic skin has excellent resistance to large mechanical deformation and damage, and the worn‐out material can still retain its humidity‐sensing capabilities after self‐repair.Humidity‐sensing mechanism studies show that the induced response is mainly related to the increase of proton mobility and interfacial charge transport efficiency after water adsorption. The superior humidity responsiveness is attributed to the reduced thickness and the increased specific surface area of the organohydrogel film, allowing real‐time recording of physiological signals.Notably,by combining with a self‐designed printed circuit board,a continuous and wireless respiration monitoring system is developed, presenting its great potential in wearable and biomedical electronics. | Qiongling Ding Hao Wang Zijing Zhou Zixuan Wu Kai Tao Xuchun Gui Chuan Liu Wenxiong Shi Jin Wu | 2023 | SmartMat2023,4,2: | 2
Engineering Smart Composite Hydrogels for Wearable Health Monitoring显示文摘Growing health awareness triggers the public's concern about health problems. People want a timely and comprehensive picture of their condition without frequent trips to the hospital for costly and cumbersome general check-ups. The wearable technique provides a continuous measurement method for health monitoring by tracking a person's physiological data and analyzing it locally or remotely.During the health monitoring process, different kinds of sensors convert physiological signals into electrical or optical signals that can be recorded and transmitted, consequently playing a crucial role in wearable techniques. Wearable application scenarios usually require sensors to possess excellent flexibility and stretchability. Thus, designing flexible and stretchable sensors with reliable performance is the key to wearable technology. Smart composite hydrogels, which have tunable electrical properties, mechanical properties, biocompatibility, and multi-stimulus sensitivity, are one of the best sensitive materials for wearable health monitoring. This review summarizes the common synthetic and performance optimization strategies of smart composite hydrogels and focuses on the current application of smart composite hydrogels in the field of wearable health monitoring. | Jianye Li Qiongling Ding Hao Wang Zixuan Wu Xuchun Gui Chunwei Li Ning Hu Kai Tao Jin Wu | 2023 | Nano-Micro Letters2023,15,7: | 0
Self-healable, recyclable, ultrastretchable, and high-performanceNO_(2) sensors based on an organohydrogel for room and sub-zero temperature and wireless operation显示文摘To date, development of high-performance,stretchable gas sensors operating at and below room temperature(RT)remains a challenge in terms of traditional sensing materials.Herein,we report on a high-performance NO_(2) gas sensor based on a self-healable,recyclable,ultrastretchable,and stable polyvinyl alcohol–cellulose nanofibril double-network organohydrogel, which features ultrahigh sensitivity(372%/ppm),low limit of detection(2.23 ppb),relatively fast response and recovery time(41/144 s for 250 ppb NO_(2)),good selectivity against interfering gases(NH3,CO_(2),ethanol,and acetone),excellent reversibility, repeatability, and long-term stability at RT or even at−20°C.In particular, this sensor shows outstanding stability against large deformations and mechanical damages so that it works normally after rapid self-healing or remolding after undergoing mechanical damage without significant performance degradation, which has major advantages compared to state-of-the-art gas sensors. The high NO_(2) sensitivity and selectivity are attributed to the selective redox reactions at the threephase interface of gas, gel, and electrode, which is even boosted by applying tensile strain. With a specific electrical circuit design,a wireless NO_(2) alarm system based on this sensor is created to enable continuous,real-time,and wireless NO_(2) detection to avoid the risk of exposure to NO_(2) higher than threshold concentrations. | Qiongling Ding Zijing Zhou Hao Wang Zixuan Wu Kai Tao Bo-Ru Yang Xi Xie Jun Fu Jin Wu | 2023 | SmartMat2023,4,1: | 0
