1Dredging influenced sediment toxicity of endosulfan and lindane on black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon Fabricius) in Chantaburi River estuary in Thailand显示文摘Series of experiments, including background sediment elutriate, spiked-sediment elutriate and spiked- water toxicity tests, were carried out to study the effect of dredging on survivability and ecological competence of commercially important shrimp postlarvae of Penaeus monodon Fabricius. The test sediment represented the most contaminated from endosulfan and lindane in the Chantaburi river mouth estuary. The maximum sediment contamination levels were 49.4 μg/kg of endosulfan and 58.1 μg/kg of lindane in dry weight basis. Dose-response studies in static, non-renewal spiked-sediment elutriate toxicity tests revealed that LC 50 (96 h) values for survival effect based on measured concentrations were 0.50 (0.26-0.95) μg/L for endosulfan and 0.92 (0.63-1.34) μg/L for lindane. The LOECs for endosulfan and lindane were 0.141 and 0.429 μg/L, respectively. The NOECs were estimated to be the dissoluted endosulfan and lindane concentrations from the Chantaburi estuary sediment. The effects on phenoloxidase enzyme activity in shrimp postlarvae exposed for sub-lethal to lethal doses in sediment elutriate were not significant (p>0.05) at all tested dose levels. The worst case dissolution concentrations of endosulfan and lindane in the water column upon simulatory dredging in the Chantaburi estuary were found to be toxic to shrimp postlarvae on lethal and sub-lethal effects. The NOECs of respective chemicals (i.e., 0.034 and 0.16 μg/L) shared the same orders of magnitude for corresponding NOECs established for whole salt water aquatic life by the USEPA and 'safe' levels calculated by 0.01 safety factor approach. In addition, the significance of multiple pollutant assessments for ecological toxicity testing is highlighted.Jayakody Arachchige SUMITH Preeda PARKPIAN Napaporn LEADPRATHOM 2009International Journal of Sediment Research2009,24,4:5

3Multidrug resistance problems targeting piglets and environmental health by Escherichia coli in intensive swine farms显示文摘Multidrug resistance(MDR)problems become critical concerns in animal production through food chains and the environment. Thus, the cross-sectional study of E.coli in swine feces, drinking water, and wastewater collected on four medium and four large swine farms in Thailand was studied. The orders of antibiotics used were AMX-COL-GM-TIL and AMX-COL-GM-CER on medium-sized and large swine farms, respectively.Hemolytic E.coli(HEC)was more frequently isolated from all samples than Non-hemolytic E.coli(NHEC).The medium-sized farms were resistant to AMP,AMX,TE,and C,while large farms were resistant to AMP,AMX,TE,and PIP.Only two sensitive antibiotics, namely AK and TE,were available on both farms, whereas, banned NT was still detected in the sludge. The MDR of E.coli isolates was 95.7%and 87.7%on medium-sized and large swine farms, while the highest resistance found was 15 drugs used for NHEC on medium-sized swine farms. The PFGE molecular typing revealed the largest cluster containing five isolations, correlated with drinking water, sow, and fattening isolates;however, the phenotypic and genotypic were not in a similar pattern. The most seriously MDR related to HEC was found in the piglets, effluent, and sludge. Thus, the AMR and MDR of E.coli existence in medium-sized and large swine farms in this study.MDR of E.coli was substantially found in the environmental, including effluent and sludge. Therefore,it inevitably operates the long-term monitoring of AMR,especially targeted piglets and its environment as the main focus of critical antibiotics use in swine farms.Atchara Dawangpa Preeda Lertwatcharasarakul Alongkot Boonsoongnern Nattavut Ratanavanichrojn Arsooth Sanguankiat Nayika Pinniam Siriluk Jala Sudtisa Laopiem Phitsanu Tulayakul 2022Emerging Contaminants2022,8,1:1

10Z-per-oral endoscopic myotomy as definitive prevention of a bleeding ulcer in Zenker’s diverticulum:A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND Bleeding from Zenker’s diverticulum is extremely rare.At present, there are no guidelines for the management of bleeding Zenker’s diverticulum because of its rarity.Per-oral endoscopic myotomy(Z-POEM)is a precision myotomy technique and minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of Zenker’s diverticulum. We present a systematic review and a rare case of bleeding Zenker’s diverticulum that was effectively treated using Z-POEM.CASE SUMMARY A 72-year-old presented after 3 d of hematemesis. He had a 2-year history of progressive dysphagia and reported no antiplatelet, anticoagulant,or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug use.His vital signs were stable, and the hematocrit was 36%.Previous gastroscopy and barium swallow had revealed Zenker’s diverticulum before the bleeding occurred. We performed gastroscopy and found a 5-mm ulcer with a minimal blood clot and spontaneously resolved bleeding.Z-POEM for definitive treatment was performed to reduce accumulation of food and promote ulcer healing. He had no complications and no bleeding;at the follow-up 6 mo later, the ulcer was healed.CONCLUSION Z-POEM can be definitive prevention for bleeding ulcer in Zenker’s diverticulum that promotes ulcer healing, reducing the risk of recurrent bleeding.Z-POEM is also a definitive endoscopic surgery for treatment of Zenker’s diverticulum.Chonlada Krutsri Pitichote Hiranyatheb Preeda Sumritpradit Pongsasit Singhatas Pattawia Choikrua 2022World Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy2022,14,3:0
