1Effect of ozone injection on the long-term performance and microbial community structure of a VOCs biofilter显示文摘For biofilters treating waste gases containing volatile organic compounds(VOCs), biomass accumulation is a common problem which will induce bed clogging and significant decrease in VOCs removal efficiency during long-term operation. In this study, ozone injection was developed as a biomass control strategy, and its effects on the biofilter performance and the microbial community structure were investigated in long-term operation. Two biofilters, identified as BF1 and BF2, were operated continuously for 160 days treating gaseous toluene under the same conditions, except that 200 mg/m3 ozone was continuously injected into BF1 during days 45–160. During the operation period, ozone injection did not change the toluene removal efficiency, while the pressure drop of BF1 with ozone injection was significantly lowered compared with BF2. The wet biomass accumulation rate of BF1 was 11 g/m^3/hr, which was only46% of that in BF2. According to the carbon balance result, ozone injection also increased the toluene mineralization rate from 83% to 91%, which could be an important reason for the low biomass accumulation. The PMA-q PCR result indicated that ozone injection increased the microbial viability of the biofilm. The high-throughput sequencing result also revealed that the dominant phyla and genera were not changed significantly by ozone injection, but some ozonetolerant genera such as Rhodanobacter, Dokdonella and Rhodococcus were enhanced by ozone exposure. All the results verified that ozone injection is capable of sustaining the long-term performance of biofilters by lowering the biomass accumulation, increasing the microbial viability and changing the microbial community structure.Prakit Saingam Zenab Baig Yang Xu Jinying Xi 2018Journal of Environmental Sciences2018,30,7:4

4Identification and resistant characterization of legume sources against Meloidogyne incognita显示文摘Root-knot nematodes(RKNs;Meloidogyne spp.) are becoming a serious problem in legume production. This study identified Vigna genotypes exhibiting resistance to M. incognita(RKN) and characterized the modes of the resistance to M. incognita. In total, 279 accessions from 21 Vigna species were screened for resistance based on a galling index(GI) and an egg mass index(EI). Seven accessions were highly resistant to RKN with GI≤25, namely JP74716(V. mungo var. mungo;cultivated black gram), JP107881(V. nepalensis), JP229392(V. radiata var. sublobata;wild mungbean), Aus TRCF118141(V. unguiculata subsp. unguiculata;cultivated cowpea), Aus TRCF306385(V. unguiculata subsp. unguiculata), Aus TRCF322090(V. vexillata var. vexillata;wild zombi pea) and JP235929(V. vexillata var. vexillata). JP229392 and Aus TRCF322090 were the most resistant accessions having EI values of 18.74 and 1.88, respectively. Continuous culture of M. incognita on both JP229392 and Aus TRCF322090 resulted in a weakness in pathogenic ability for this RKN. The resistance in JP229392 and Aus TRCF322090 to RKN appeared to be antibiosis that was associated with reduced nematode penetration, retardation of nematode development and impeding giant cell formation. The Vigna germplasm resistance to RKN identified in this study could be utilized as gene sources for the development of RKN-resistant Vigna cultivars.Pornthip RUANPANUN Prakit SOMTA 2021Journal of Integrative Agriculture2021,20,1:1
5AN IMPROVED VARIATIONAL MODEL AND ITS NUMERICAL SOLUTIONS FOR SPECKLE NOISE REMOVAL FROM REAL ULTRASOUND IMAGES显示文摘Ultrasound imaging technique is one of the most non-invasive, practically harmless to the human body, accurate, cost effective and real-time techniques in medical diagnosis. However, ultrasound images suffer from the so-called speckle noise because of the imaging principle. The speckle noise reduces the quality and visibility of ultrasound images, thereby decreasing overall reliability of the images and interfering with the clinical diagnosis. In this paper, we propose a novel variational model under a combination of total variation regularization and Weberized total variation regularization and prove the existence and uniqueness of the minimizer for the variational problem. In order to efficiently solve the associated Euler-Lagrange equation consisting of nonlinear partial differential equation, we apply a finite difference method and develop several numerical techniques for solving the resulting discrete system. Numerical experiments on various synthetic and real ultrasound images not only confirm that our improved model is effective, but also it can provide significant improvement over evaluated models. Moreover, they also show that our proposed multigrid method has great potential applications to medical ultrasound imaging technique in delivering fast, accurate, and visually pleasing res to ration resul ts.Noppadol Chumchob Isararat Prakit 2019Journal of Computational Mathematics2019,37,2:1

8Molecular genetic diversity of winged bean gene pool in Thailand assessed by SSR markers显示文摘Winged bean[Psophocarpus tetragonolobus(L.)DC.]is a vegetable legume crop. The center of origin, diversity and domestication of this crop are not known. In this study,we assessed the genetic diversity and population structure of 457 accessions of winged bean collected from six geographical regions(North,Northeast,East,West, and central, and South)in Thailand using 14 simple sequence repeat(SSR)markers. In total, the SSR markers detected only 55 alleles with an average of 3.9 alleles per locus.Observed heterozygosity was relatively high(0.15)and overall gene diversity was moderate(0.487).Gene diversity, allelic richness and observed heterozygosity in the six regions were comparable, while the estimated out-crossing rate was relatively high(16.4%).STRUCTURE analysis grouped the 457 winged bean accessions into three subpopulations.Neighbor-joining(NJ)analysis grouped all the accessions into two major clusters.Genetic groups identified by both STRUCTURE analysis and NJ analysis were unrelated to geographical origins.Principal coordinate analysis revealed no clear clustering of the winged bean accessions.Although genetic groups were not unrelated to geographical origins, most of the winged bean accessions with long pods(30 cm or higher in length)or having purple seed coats or purple young pods were grouped together. This suggested that the winged beans with long pods or with purple seed or purple young pods may have a single origin.Altogether, these results demonstrated that the genetic diversity of winged bean in Thailand was moderate with high genetic admixture. We argue that the high genetic admixture of the winged bean in Thailand is due to seed migration and relatively high outcrossing rate.Kularb Laosatit Kitiya Amkul Sompong Chankaew Prakit Somta 2022Horticultural Plant Journal2022,8,1:0
