1Epidemiology, causes, clinical manifestation and diagnosis, prevention and control of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) during the early outbreak period: a scoping review显示文摘Background:The coronavirus disease(COVID-19)has been identified as the cause of an outbreak of respiratory illness in Wuhan,Hubei Province,China beginning in December 2019.As of 31 January 2020,this epidemic had spread to 19 countries with 11791 confirmed cases,including 213 deaths.The World Health Organization has declared it a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.Methods:A scoping review was conducted following the methodological framework suggested by Arksey and O'Malley.In this scoping review,65 research articles published before 31 January 2020 were analyzed and discussed to better understand the epidemiology,causes,clinical diagnosis,prevention and control of this virus.The research domains,dates of publication,journal language,authors'affiliations,and methodological characteristics were included in the analysis.All the findings and statements in this review regarding the outbreak are based on published information as listed in the references.Results:Most of the publications were written using the English language(89.2%).The largest proportion of published articles were related to causes(38.5%)and a majority(67.7%)were published by Chinese scholars.Research articles initially focused on causes,but over time there was an increase of the articles related to prevention and control.Studies thus far have shown that the virus7 origination is in connection to a seafood market in Wuhan,but specific animal associations have not been confirmed.Reported symptoms include fever,cough,fatigue,pneumonia,headache,diarrhea,hemoptysis,and dyspnea.Preventive measures such as masks,hand hygiene practices,avoidance of public contact,case detection,contact tracing,and quarantines have been discussed as ways to reduce transmission.To date,no specific antiviral treatment has proven effective;hence,infected people primarily rely on symptomatic treatment and supportive care.Conclusions:There has been a rapid surge in research in response to the outbreak of COVID-19.During this early period,published research primarily explored the epidemiology,causes,clinical manifestation and diagnosis,as well as prevention and control of the novel coronavirus.Although these studies are relevant to control the current public emergency,more high-quality research is needed to provide valid and reliable ways to manage this kind of public health emergency in both the short-and long-term.Sasmita Poudel Adhikari Sha Meng Yu-Ju Wu Yu-Ping Mao Rui-Xue Ye Qing-Zhi Wang Chang Sun Sean Sylvia Scott Rozelle Hein Raat Huan Zhou 2020Infectious Diseases of Poverty2020,9,2:28

3Serum uric acid level in newly diagnosed essential hypertension in a Nepalese population:A hospital based cross sectional study显示文摘Objective:To develop the missing link between hyperuricemia and hypertension.Methods:The study was conducted in Department of Biochemistry in collaboration with Nephrology Unit of Internal Medicine Department.Hypertension was defined according to blood pressure readings by definitions of the Seventh Report of the Joint National Committee.Totally 205newly diagnosed and untreated essential hypertensive cases and age-sex matched nonnotensive controls were enrolled in the study.The potential confounding factors of hyperuricemia and hypertension in both cases and controls were controlled.Uric acid levels in all participants were analyzed.Results:Renal function between newly diagnosed hypertensive cases and nonnotensive healthy controls were adjusted.The mean serum uric acid observed in newly diagnosed hypertensive cases and in nonnotensive healthy controls were(290.05±87.03)μmol/L and(245.24±09.38)μmol/L respectively.A total of 59(28.8%)participants of cases and 28(13.7%)participants of controls had hyperuricemia(odds ratio 2.555(95%CI:1.549-4.213),P<0.00l).Conclusions:The mean serum uric acid leveb and number of hyperuricemic subjects were found to be significantly higher in cases when compared to controls.Bibek Poudel Binod Kumar Yadav Arun Kumar Bharat Jha Kanak Bahadur Raut 2014Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2014,4,1:10

5High universality of matK primers for barcoding gymnosperms显示文摘DNA barcoding is a tool to provide rapid and accurate taxonomic identification using a standard DNA region.A two-marker combination of matK+rbcL was formally proposed as the core barcode for land plants by the Consortium for the Barcode of Life Plant Working Group.However,there are currently no barcoding primers for matK showing high universality in gymnosperms.We used 57 gymnosperm species representing 40 genera,11 families and four subclasses to evaluate the universality of nine candidate matK primers and one rbcL primer in this study.Primer(1F/724R) of rbcL is proposed here as a universal primer for gymnosperms due to high universality.One of the nine candidate matK primers(Gym_F1A/Gym_R1A) is proposed as the best 'universal' matK primer for gymnosperms because of high polymerase chain reaction success and routine generation of high quality bidirectional sequences.A specific matK primer for Ephedra was newly designed in this study,which performed well on the sampled species.The primers proposed here for rbcL and matK can be easily and successfully amplified for most gymnosperms.Yan LI Lian-Ming GAO Ram C. 6局限期小细胞肺癌化疗联合加速超分割放疗疗效初步分析显示文摘背景与目的:局限期小细胞肺癌(small cell lung cancer,SCLC)对放疗和化疗均敏感。放疗可提高局限期SCLC患者总生存率,降低局部复发率。本研究总结在化疗基础上应用加速超分割放射治疗(hyperfractionated accelerated radiotherapy,HART)对局限期SCLC的疗效,评价相关治疗毒性,归纳治疗失败方式。方法:55例局限期SCLC患者经过EP方案诱导化疗,放疗后再以EP方案巩固化疗,完全缓解(complete remission,CR)者行预防性全脑照射(prophylactic cranial irradiation,PCI)。治疗结束后对患者进行随访,并评价其疗效及毒副作用。结果:55例患者放化疗结束时总有效率(CR+PR)为87.3%。1、3、5年总生存率分别为79.1%、40.3%、16.1%,中位生存时间18.7个月。Ⅲ度和Ⅳ度血液学毒性分别为23例(41.8%)和16例(29.1%);Ⅰ度和Ⅱ度急性放射性肺炎分别为21例(38.2%)和2例(3.6%),Ⅰ度和Ⅱ度放射性食管炎分别为29例(52.7%)和12例(21.8%),未发生Ⅲ~Ⅳ度非血液学毒性。11例(20.0%)患者出现Ⅰ度肺纤维化,5例(9.1%)为Ⅱ度。2例(3.6%)发生Ⅰ度后期食管损伤。16例(29.1%)局部/区域复发,21例(38.2%)发生远处转移。结论:EP方案化疗合并HART治疗局限期SCLC毒性轻至中度,患者可以耐受。局部复发和远处转移为主要治疗失败原因。胡晓 包勇 陈媛媛 高剑铭 王卫华 刘源 何瀚 孙宗文 Shivaji Poudel 王彦 庄婷婷 张力 陈明 2008癌症2008,27,10:4
7^137Cs tracing dynamics of soil erosion,organic carbon,and total nitrogen in terraced fields and forestland in the Middle Mountains of Nepal显示文摘The Middle Mountains is one of the regions of Nepal most vulnerable to water erosion, where fragile geology, steep topography, anomalous climatic conditions, and intensive human activity have resulted in serious soil erosion and enhanced land degradation. Based on the 137 Cs tracing method, spatial variations in soil erosion, organic carbon, and total nitrogen(TN) in terraced fields lacking field banks and forestland were determined. Soil samples were collected at approximately 5 m and 20 m intervals along terraced field series and forestland transects respectively. Mean 137 Cs inventories of the four soil cores from the reference site was estimated at 574.33 ± 126.22 Bq m-2(1 Bq(i.e., one Becquerel) is equal to 1 disintegration per second(1 dps)). For each terrace, the 137 Cs inventory generally increased fromupper to lower slope positions, accompanied by a decrease in the soil erosion rate. Along the entire terraced toposequence, 137 Cs data showed that abrupt changes in soil erosion rates could occur between the lower part of the upper terrace and the upper part of the immediate terrace within a small distance. This result indicated that tillage erosion is also a dominant erosion type in the sloping farmland of this area. At the same time, we observed a fluctuant decrease in soil erosion rates for the whole terraced toposequence as well as a net deposition at the toe terrace. Although steep terraces(lacking banks and hedgerows) to some extent could act to limit soil sediment accumulation in catchments, soil erosion in the terraced field was determined to be serious. For forestland, with the exception of serious soil erosion that had taken place at the top of slopes due to concentrated flows from a country road situated above the forestland site, spatialvariation in soil erosion was similar to the 'standard' water erosion model. Soil organic carbon(SOC) and TN inventories showed similar spatial patterns to the 137 Cs inventory for both toposequences investigated. However, due to the different dominant erosion processes between the two, we found similar patterns between the <0.002 mm soil particle size fraction(clay sized) and 137 Cs inventories in terraced fields, while different patterns could be found between 137 Cs inventories and the <0.002 mm soil particle size fraction in the forestland site. 10Evaluation of sampling strategies to estimate crown biomass显示文摘Background:Depending on tree and site characteristics crown biomass accounts for a significant portion of the total aboveground biomass in the tree.Crown biomass estimation is useful for different purposes including evaluating the economic feasibility of crown utilization for energy production or forest products,fuel load assessments and fire management strategies,and wildfire modeling.However,crown biomass is difficult to predict because of the variability within and among species and sites.Thus the allometric equations used for predicting crown biomass should be based on data collected with precise and unbiased sampling strategies.In this study,we evaluate the performance different sampling strategies to estimate crown biomass and to evaluate the effect of sample size in estimating crown biomass.Methods:Using data collected from 20 destructively sampled trees,we evaluated 11 different sampling strategies using six evaluation statistics:bias,relative bias,root mean square error(RMSE),relative RMSE,amount of biomass sampled,and relative biomass sampled.We also evaluated the performance of the selected sampling strategies when different numbers of branches(3,6,9,and 12)are selected from each tree.Tree specific log linear model with branch diameter and branch length as covariates was used to obtain individual branch biomass.Results:Compared to all other methods stratified sampling with probability proportional to size estimation technique produced better results when three or six branches per tree were sampled.However,the systematic sampling with ratio estimation technique was the best when at least nine branches per tree were sampled.Under the stratified sampling strategy,selecting unequal number of branches per stratum produced approximately similar results to simple random sampling,but it further decreased RMSE when information on branch diameter is used in the design and estimation phases.Conclusions:Use of auxiliary information in design or estimation phase reduces the RMSE produced by a sampling strategy.However,this is attained by having to sample larger amount of biomass.Based on our finding we would recommend sampling nine branches per tree to be reasonably efficient and limit the amount of fieldwork.Krishna P Poudel Hailemariam Temesgen Andrew N Gray 2015Forest Ecosystems2015,2,1:2
