| 1 | Ensemble projection of 1―3℃ warming in China显示文摘Studies on the influences of climate change on biogeochemical cycles and on the key vulnerabilities and the risk from climate change suggest that annual surface temperature rise of 1℃, 2℃ and 3℃ above the present level would lead to changes in extreme weather and climate events, food production, fresh water resources, biodiversity, human mortality, etc. Here two sets of simulations as performed with seventeen atmosphere-ocean general circulation models (AOGCMs) for the Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC AR4), i.e. the model outputs from the 20th Century Climate in Coupled Models (20C3M) and from the Special Report on Emissions Scenarios (SRES) emission scenarios B1, A1B and A2, are used to analyze spatial and temporal characteristics of the above values in China over the 21st century. The results indicate that the rate of warming varies from region to region. The above values are reached much later (earlier) when emission amount is lower (higher), and spread of the time when the lower (higher) value is exceeded is narrower (wider) among the three scenarios. | 4 | Origin and evolution of new exons in the rodent zinc fingerprotein 39 gene显示文摘The origin of new structures and functions is an important process in evolution. In the past decades, we have obtained some preliminary knowledge of the origin and evo- lution of new genes. However, as the basic unit of genes, the origin and evolution of exons remain unclear. Because young exons retain the footprints of origination, they can be good materials for studying origin and evolution of new exons. In this paper, we report two young exons in a zinc finger protein gene of rodents. Since they are unique sequences in mouse and rat genome and no homologous sequences were found in the orthologous genes of human and pig, the young exons might originate after the divergence of primates and rodents through exonization of intronic sequences. Strong positive selection was detected in the new exons between mouse and rat, suggesting that these exons have undergone significant functional divergence after the separation of the two species. On the other hand, population genetics data of mouse dem- onstrate that the new exons have been subject to functional constraint, indicating an important function of the new exons in mouse. Functional analyses suggest that these new exons encode a nuclear localization signal peptide, which may me- diate new ways of nuclear protein transport. | 7 | LAVES PHASE ALLOYS FOR HIGH TEMPERATURE APPLICATIONS显示文摘Ternary Laves phases with transition metals and aluminium were overviewed with respect to their use for structural high temperature applications. The relation between constitution, phase stability, crystal structure and basic mechanical properties was discussed. The crystal structure-hexagonal C14 structure or cubic C15 structure-is a function of atomic radii and valence electron concentration. A strong positive correlation of basic mechanical properties-hardness, yield stress-with the sublimation energy of the phases was found. The brittle to ductile transition temperature was observed at about 60% of the melting temperature. The regarded ternary Laves phases allow alloying to form stable equilibria with the less hard and brittle B2 aluminides. Advantageous examples are alloys of type NbNiAl NiAl, TaNiAl NiAl, and TaFeAl FeAl. Multiphase NiAl Ta Cr alloys are regarded as promising for structural high temperature applications and have been selected for a materials development which aims at applications in gas turbines at temperatures above those of Ni base superalloys, such alloy can be prepared by ingot metallurgy and powder metallurgy and hot forming is possible. Characteristic data were presented with respect to mechanical behaviour. The alloys showed a high thermoshock resistance in spite of the comparatively high brittle to ductile transition temperature.
