| 1 | Vildagliptin-insulin combination improves glycemic control in Asians with type 2 diabetes显示文摘AIM: To assess the efficacy and safety of vildagliptin 50 mg bid as add-on therapy to insulin in Asian patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).METHODS: This was a post hoc analysis of a subgroup of Asian patients from a multicenter,randomized,double-blind,placebo-controlled,parallel-group study in T2DM patients inadequately controlled by stable insulin therapy,with or without metformin.A total of 173 patients were randomized 1:1 to receive treatment with vildagliptin 50 mg bid(n = 87) or placebo(n = 86) for 24 wk.Changes in HbA1c and fasting plasma glucose(FPG),from baseline to study endpoint,were analyzed using an analysis of covariance model.Change from baseline to endpoint in body weight was summarized by treatment.Safety and tolerability of vildagliptin was also evaluated.RESULTS: After 24 wk,the difference in adjusted mean change in HbA1c between vildagliptin and placebo was 0.82%(8.96 mmol/mol;P < 0.001) in Asian subgroup,0.85%(9.29 mmol/mol;P < 0.001) in patients also receiving metformin,and 0.73%(7.98 mmol/mol;P < 0.001) in patients without metformin,all in favor of vildagliptin.There was no significant difference in the change in FPG between treatments.Weight was stable in both treatment groups(+0.3 kg and-0.2 kg,for vildagliptin and placebo,respectively).Overall,vildagliptin was safe and well tolerated with similarly low incidences of hypoglycemia(8.0% vs 8.1%) and no severe hypoglycemic events were experienced in either group.CONCLUSION: In Asian patients inadequately controlled with insulin(with or without concomitant metformin),insulin-vildagliptin combination treatment significantly reduced HbA1c compared with placebo,without an increase in risk of hypoglycemia or weight gain. | Plamen Kozlovski James Foley Qing Shao Valentina Lukashevich Wolfgang Kothny | 2013 | World Journal of Diabetes2013，4，4： | 6 |

| 4 | Electrochemical top-down synthesis of C-supported Pt nanoparticles with controllable shape and size:Mechanistic insights and application显示文摘In this work,we demonstrate the power of a simple top-down electrochemical erosion approach to obtain Pt nanoparticle with controlled shapes and sizes(in the range from-2 to-10 nm).Carbon supported nanoparticles with narrow size distributions have been synthesized by applying an alternating voltage to macroscopic bulk platinum structures,such as disks or wires.Without using any surfactants,the size and shape of the particles can be changed by adjusting simple parameters such as the applied potential,frequency and electrolyte composition.For instance,application of a sinusoidal AC voltage with lower frequencies results in cubic nanoparticles;whereas higher frequencies lead to predominantly spherical nanoparticles.On the other hand,the amplitude of the,sinusoidal signal was found to affect the particle size;the lower the amplitude of the applied AC signal,the smaller the resulting particle size.Pt/C catalysts prepared by this approach showed 0.76 A/mg mass activity towards the oxygen reduction reaction which is-2 times higher than the state-of-the-art commercial Pt/C catalyst(0.42 A/mg)from Tanaka.In addition to this,we discussed the mechanistic insights about the nanoparticle formation pathways. | Batyr Garlyyev Sebastian Watzele Johannes Fichtner Jan Michalicka Alexander Schokel Anatoliy Senyshyn Andrea Perego Dingjie Pan Hany A.El-Sayed Jan M.Macak Plamen Atanassov Iryna V.Zenyuk Aliaksandr S.Bandarenka | 2021 | Nano Research2021，14，8： | 2 |
| 5 | Atypical presentation of pioderma gangrenosum complicating ulcerative colitis: Rapid disappearance with methylprednisolone显示文摘Piodermal gangrenosum (PG) is an uncommon ulcerative cutaneous dermatosis associated with a variety of systemic diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), arthritis, leukaemia, hepatitis, and primary billiary cirrhosis. Other cutaneous ulceration resembling PG had been described in literature. There has been neither laboratory finding nor histological feature diagnostic of PG, and diagnosis of PG is mainly made based on the exclusion criteria. We present here a patient, with ulcerative colitis (UC) who was referred to the emergency section with a large and rapidly evolving cutaneous ulceration. Laboratory and microbiological investigation associated with histological findings of the ulcer specimen allowed us to exclude autoimmune and systemic diseases as well as immuno-proliferative disorders. An atypical presentation of PG with UC was diagnosed. Pulse boluses of i.v. methyl-prednisolone were started, and after tapering steroids, complete resolution of the skin lesion was achieved in 3 wk. | 13 | Self-healing effect of ceria electrodeposited thin films on stainless steel in aggressive 0.5 mol/L NaCl aqueous solution显示文摘The self-healing effect of electrochemically deposited CeO2-Ce2O3 films on stainless steel OC404(SS) in 0.5 mol/L NaCl solution was studied. It was established that the corrosion potential of the steel, after covering it with CeO2-Ce2O3 layer and thermal treatment(i.e. potential of the system CeO2-Ce2O3/SSt.t.), was shifted sharply to a considerably more positive value, while the corrosion current was reduced noticeably. The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM) analyses on the observed scratched surface area of the system CeO2-Ce2O3/SSt.t., after exposure of investigated specimens to 0.5 mol/L NaCl corrosion media, showed partial accumulation of ceria, as well as remarkable increase in the concentrations of oxides of Al, Cr and Fe, on the mechanically revealed steel surface. On the basis of the obtained results one could conclude that the secondary passive oxide/hydroxide films, formed after a definite time interval of exposure to corrosion media, acted as barriers, hindering the corrosion processes in active zones.
