| 3 | Trends in Lipids Level and Dyslipidemia among Chinese Adults, 2002-2015显示文摘Objective To investigate the trends of lipid profiles and dyslipidemia among Chinese adults from 2002 to 2015.Methods Data were collected from three nationally representative cross-sectional surveys.Fasting venous blood samples were collected and serum lipids were tested by biochemical analysis and enzymatic determination.Lipid levels and the prevalence of dyslipidemia among adults were analyzed with complex sampling weighting adjustment for age and gender.Results The weighted means of TC, TG, and LDL-c significantly increased linearly from 3.93, 1.12, and 2.12 mmol/L in 2002 to 4.59, 1.41, and 2.78 mmol/L in 2010 and then to 4.63, 1.47, and 2.87 mmol/L in 2015, respectively;by contrast, HDL-c levels decreased significantly from 1.30 mmol/L to 1.26 mmol/L over the same period.Similar trends in mean non-HDL-c and lipid-related ratios were observed.The weighted dyslipidemia prevalence linearly increased;in particular, hypercholesterolemia increased from 1.6% to 5.6% and then to 5.8%, hypertriglyceridemia increased from 5.7% to 13.6% and then to 15.0%, low HDL-c increased from 18.8% to 35.5% and then to 24.9%, and high LDL-c increased from 1.3% to 5.6% and then to 7.2%(P for trend <0.001).Conclusion Dyslipidemia increased among Chinese adults from 2002 to 2015.Development of a comprehensive strategy to decrease lipid levels in this population is urgently required. | SONG Peng Kun MAN Qing Qing LI Hong PANG Shao Jie JIA Shan Shan LI Yu Qian HE Li ZHAO Wen Hua ZHANG Jian | 2019 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2019,32,8: | 45 |

| 8 | A nowcasting model for the prediction of typhoon tracks based on a long short term memory neural network显示文摘It is of vital importance to reduce injuries and economic losses by accurate forecasts of typhoon tracks. A huge amount of typhoon observations have been accumulated by the meteorological department, however, they are yet to be adequately utilized. It is an effective method to employ machine learning to perform forecasts. A long short term memory(LSTM) neural network is trained based on the typhoon observations during 1949–2011 in China's Mainland, combined with big data and data mining technologies, and a forecast model based on machine learning for the prediction of typhoon tracks is developed. | 10 | Genotypic Characterization of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus Isolated from Pigs and Retail Foods in China显示文摘Objective To investigate the genotypic diversity of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA) isolated from pigs and retail foods from different geographical areas in China and further to study the routes and rates of transmission of this pathogen from animals to food. Methods Seventy-one MRSA isolates were obtained from pigs and retail foods and then characterized by multi-locus sequencing typing(MLST), spa typing, multiple-locus variable number of tandem repeat analysis(MLVA), pulsed-field gel electrophoresis(PFGE), and antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Results All isolated MRSA exhibited multi-drug resistance(MDR). Greater diversity was found in food-associated MRSA(7 STs, 8 spa types, and 10 MLVA patterns) compared to pig-associated MRSA(3 STs, 1 spa type, and 6 MLVA patterns). PFGE patterns were more diverse for pig-associated MRSA than those of food-associated isolates(40 vs. 11 pulse types). Among the pig-associated isolates, CC9-ST9-t899-MC2236 was the most prevalent clone(96.4%), and CC9-ST9-t437-MC621(20.0%) was the predominant clone among the food-associated isolates. The CC9-ST9 isolates showed significantly higher antimicrobial resistance than other clones. Interestingly, CC398-ST398-t034 clone was identified from both pig-and food-associated isolates. Of note, some community-and hospital-associated MRSA strains(t030, t172, t1244, and t4549) were also identified as food-associated isolates. Conclusion CC9-ST9-t899-MC2236-MDR was the most predominant clone in pigs, but significant genetic diversity was observed in food-associated MRSA. | 11 | Qingxuan Jiangya Decoction(清眩降压汤) Prevents Blood Pressure Elevation and Ameliorates Vascular Structural Remodeling via Modulating TGF-β 1/Smad Pathway in Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats显示文摘Objective:To elevate the effects of Qingxuan Jiangya Decoction(清眩降压汤,QXJYD)on hypertension and vascular structural remodeling(VSR)in spontaneously hypertensive rats(SHRs),and investigate the underlying mechanisms.Methods:SHRs(n=8)were given intra-gastric administration with 60 mg/kg of QXJYD or saline,daily for 8 weeks,while rats in SHR-control(n=8)and WKY(n=8)groups were received equal volumes of saline solution.Systolic blood pressures(SBP),diastolic blood pressures(DBP)and mean blood pressures(MBP)were measured once a week.The levels of angiotensinⅡ(AngⅡ),endothelin 1(ET-1)and plasma renin activity(PRA)were tested by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)and radioimmunoassay,respectively.The effect of QXJYD on VSR was determined by examining the media thickness and the ex vivo contractility of thoracic aortic.The proliferation and fibrosis of vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMCs)were examined via immunohistochemical(IHC)staining for proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA),collagen Ⅰ and collagen Ⅲ,respectively.The mRNA and protein expressions of transforming growth factor β1(TGF-β1),Smad3 and phosphorylation of Smad3 in thoracic aorta tissues were determined by real-time polymerase chain reaction(PCR)and Western blot assay,respectively.Results:QXJYD treatment led to a significant decrease of the elevation of blood pressure in SHRs and reduced the levels of AngⅡ,ET-1 and PRA in the serum(P<0.05).In addition,QXJYD treatment remarkably ameliorated VSR and vascular function in SHRs.Moreover,QXJYD inhibited VSMC proliferation and fibrosis by suppressing the expression of PCNA,collagen Ⅰ and collagen Ⅲ in thoracic aortic.Furthermore,QXJYD inhibited the expression of TGF-β1,Smad3 and the phosphorylation of Smad3,respectively(P<0.05).Conclusion:QXJYD reversed VSR by inhibiting VSMC proliferation and collagen deposition via regulation of TGF-β1/Smad signaling pathway,which may,in part,illuminate its anti-hypertensive activities. | HE Fei CHU Jian-feng CHEN Hong-wei LIN Wei LIN Shan CHEN You-qin PENG Jun CHEN Ke-ji | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2020,26,3: | 12 |

| 13 | Retrospective evaluation of lymphatic and blood vessel invasion and Borrmann types in advanced proximal gastric cancer显示文摘BACKGROUND The Borrmann classification system is used to describe the macroscopic appearance of advanced gastric cancer,and Borrmann typeⅣdisease is independently associated with a poor prognosis.AIM To evaluate the prognostic significance of lymphatic and/or blood vessel invasion(LBVI)combined with the Borrmann type in advanced proximal gastric cancer(APGC).METHODS The clinicopathological and survival data of 440 patients with APGC who underwent curative surgery between 2005 and 2012 were retrospectively analyzed.RESULTS In these 440 patients,LBVI+status was associated with Borrmann typeⅣ,low histological grade,large tumor size,and advanced pT and pN status.The 5-year survival rate of LBVI+patients was significantly lower than that of LBVI– patients,although LBVI was not an independent prognostic factor in the multivariate analysis.No significant difference in the prognosis of patients with Borrmann typeⅢ/LBVI+disease and patients with Borrmann typeⅣdisease was observed.Therefore,we proposed a revised Borrmann typeⅣ(r-BorⅣ)as Borrmann typeⅢplus LBVI+,and found that r-BorⅣwas associated with poor prognosis in patients with APGC,which outweighed the prognostic significance of pT status.CONCLUSION LBVI is related to the prognosis of APGC,but is not an independent prognostic factor.LBVI status can be used to differentiate Borrmann typesⅢandⅣ,and the same approach can be used to treat r-BorⅣand Borrmann typeⅣ. | Shan Gao Guo-Hui Cao Peng Ding Yang-Yang Zhao Peng Deng Bin Hou Kai Li Xiao-Fang Liu | 2019 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology2019,11,8: | 11 |

| 15 | The intra-neuroendoscopic technique: a new method for rapid removal of acute severe intraventricular hematoma显示文摘The mortality rate of acute severe intraventricular hematoma is extremely high, and the rate of disability in survivors is high. Intraventricular hematoma has always been a difficult problem for clinical treatment. Although minimally invasive endoscopic hematoma evacuation is widely used to treat this disease, the technique still has room for improvement. Equipment for the intra-neuroendoscopic technique(INET) consists of two of our patented inventions: a transparent sheath(Patent No. ZL 200820046232.0) and a hematoma aspirator(Patent No. ZL 201520248717.8). This study explored the safety and efficacy of INET by comparing it with extraventricular drainage in combination with urokinase thrombolytic therapy. This trial recruited 65 patients with severe intraventricular hemorrhage, including 35(19 men and 16 women, aged 53.2 ± 8.7 years) in the INET group and 30(17 men and 13 women, aged 51.5 ± 7.9 years) in the control group(extraventricular drainage plus urokinase thrombolytic therapy). Our results showed that compared with the control group, the INET group exhibited lower intraventricular hemorrhage volumes, shorter intensive care-unit monitoring and ventricular drainage-tube placement times, and fewer incidences of intracranial infection, secondary bleeding, and mortality. Thus, the prognosis of survivors had improved remarkably. These findings indicate that INET is a safe and efficient new method for treating severe intraventricular hematoma. | 16 | Semaphorin 4D and hypoxia-inducible factor-1α overexpression is related to prognosis in colorectal carcinoma显示文摘AIM:To investigate semaphorin 4D(Sema4D)and hypoxia-inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α)expression in colorectal carcinoma and evaluate their clinicopathological and prognostic significance.METHODS:Eighty-six curatively resected colorectal carcinoma patients at different stages of disease were randomly selected from the group of patients who underwent surgery,and none of them received preoperative radiochemotherapy.Normal proximal adjacent bowel tissue,which served as an internal control,was obtained from 52 randomly selected patients.Immunohistochemistry was performed to analyze the expression of Sema4D and the tumor angiogenesisrelated protein HIF-1αin normal colorectal tissues and colorectal carcinoma tissues.The relationships between the expression and clinical characters and prognosis were analyzed.RESULTS:HIF-1αand Sema4D were positively expressed in 58%and 60%of colorectal carcinoma tissues,respectively.Significantly lower expression levels were observed in normal mucosa(8%and 12%,respectively).HIF-1αand Sema4D expression was closely correlated with histological tumor type,tumornode-metastasis(TNM)stage,and lymphatic metastasis(P<0.05),but not with age or tumor size(P>0.05).HIF-1αand Sema4D protein expression was significantly correlated with prognosis of colorectal carcinoma,as determined by Spearman rank correlation analysis(r=0.567;P<0.01).Multivariate Cox analysis revealed that only Sema4D expression played a significant role in predicting patient prognosis(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:These findings suggest that HIF-1αand Sema4D expression correlates with histological tumor type,TNM stage,and lymphatic metastasis in colorectal carcinoma and that Sema4D is a prognostic indicator of colorectal carcinoma. | Jin-Shen Wang Chang-Qing Jing Ke-Shu Shan Yue-Zhi Chen Xiao-Bo Guo Zhi-Xin Cao Lin-Jun Mu Li-Pan Peng Ming-Liang Zhou Le-Ping Li | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,7: | 10 |
| 17 | R-CHOP regimen can significantly decrease the risk of disease relapse and progression in patients with non-germinal centerB-cell subtype diffuse large B-cell lymphoma显示文摘To further explore the role of rituximab when added to the CHOP-like regimen in the treatment of immunohistochemically defined non-germinal center B-cell subtype (non-GCB) diffuse large B-celllymphoma (DLBCL), 159 newly diagnosed DLBCL patients were studied retrospectively based on the immunohistochemical evaluation of CD10, Bcl-6, MUM-1, and Bcl-2. Altogether, 110 patients underwent the CHOP-like regimen, and rituximab was added for the other 49 patients. Cox regression analysis showed that compared with the CHOP-like regimen, the rituximab-based regimen (R-CHOP regimen)significantly decreased the risk of disease relapse and progression in CD10-negative patients (P=0.001),Bcl-6-negative patients (P=0.01), and MUM-1-positive patients (P=0.003). The risk of disease relapse in patients with non-GCB subtype (P=0.002) also decreased. In contrast, patients with the opposite immunohistochemical marker expression profile and GCB subtype did not benefit from treatment with the R-CHOP regimen. In addition, non-GCB subtype patients had a significantly higher expression rate of Bcl-2 than GCB subtype patients (P=0.042). Although univariate analysis found that both Bcl-2-positive and-negative patients had significantly higher event-free survival rates with the R-CHOP regimen, only Bcl-2 positivity (P=0.004) maintained significance in the Cox regression analysis. | 18 | Potassium 2-(l-hydroxypentyl)-benzoate attenuates neuroinflammatory responses and upregulates heme oxygenase-1 in systemic lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammation in mice显示文摘A neuroinflammatory response is commonly involved in the progression of many neurodegenerative diseases. Potassium 2-(1-hydroxypentyl)-benzoate(PHPB), a novel neuroprotective compound, has shown promising effects in the treatment of ischemic stroke and Alzheimer's disease(AD). In the present study, the anti-inflammatory effects of PHPB were investigated in the plasma and brain of C57BL/6 mice administered a single intraperitoneal(i.p.) injection of lipopolysaccharide(LPS). Levels of i NOS and the cytokines TNFα, IL-1β and IL-10 were elevated in plasma, cerebral cortex and hippocampus after LPS injection and the number of microglia and astrocytes in cortex and hippocampus were increased. LPS also upregulated the expression of heme oxygenase-1(HO-1) in the cortex and hippocampus. PHPB reduced the levels of i NOS and cytokines in the plasma and brain, decreased the number of microglia and astrocytes and further enhanced the upregulation of HO-1. In addition, PHPB inhibited the LPS-induced phosphorylation of ERK, P38 and JNK.
