1Performance analysis of deep learning CNN models for disease detection in plants using image segmentation显示文摘Food security for the 7 billion people on earth requires minimizing crop damage by timely detectionofdiseases. Most deep learningmodels forautomated detectionof diseases in plants suffer fromthe fatal flaw that once tested on independent data, their performance drops significantly. This work investigates a potential solution to this problem by using segmented image data to train the convolutional neural network(CNN)models. As compared to the F-CNN model trained using full images,S-CNN model trained using segmented imagesmore than doubles in performance to 98.6%accuracy when tested on independent data previously unseen by the models even with 10 disease classes. Not only this,by using tomato plant and target spot disease type as an example,we show that the confidence of self-classification for S-CNN model improves significantly over F-CNN model. This research work brings applicability of automated methods closer to non-experts for timely detection of diseases.Parul Sharma Yash Paul Singh Berwal Wiqas Ghai 2020Information Processing in Agriculture2020,7,4:5
2Aerobic bacterial flora of the normal conjunctiva at high altitude area of Shimla Hills in India:a hospital based study显示文摘AIM:To study the normal aerobic conjunctival flora in lower to mid Himalayan region of Shimla Hills.METHODS:Samples from normal conjunctiva of 200 individuals above the age of 13 years who visited Indira Gandhi Medical College Hospital Shimla for refraction or cataract surgery were taken by anaesthetising the conjunctival sac with sterile 4% Xylocaine solution.Samples were obtained by gently rubbing lower fornix with a sterile cotton wool swab moistened with normal saline and keeping the eye lids wide apart to avoid contamination from lid margins. It was immediately inoculated in Brain Heart infusion and subjected to standard aerobic culture and identification techniques.RESULTS:Totally,72 eyes(36%) conjunctival sacs were sterile.Predominant aerobes isolated were Staphylococcus spp.in 120(60%) followed by Haemophilus in 16(8%),diphtheroids in 10(5%),and Escherichia coli(E.coli) in 4(2%).A single aerobe was isolated from 98 eyes(49%) while 30 eyes(15%) yielded more than 1 aerobe.Staphylococcus epidermidis(S.epidermidis) was the most common bacterium, found alone in 58 eyes(29%) and in combination with another aerobe in 30 eyes(15%),followed by Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus) in 18(9%) and 10 eyes(5%) respectively.CONCLUSION:S.epidermidis is the most common commensal organism followed by Haemophilus species.diphtheroids occupied the third position which otherwise are found more abundantly in literature.Pathogens like S.aureus,Staphylococcus citreus and E.coli were also found. Therefore, preoperative administration of topical broad spectrum antibiotics is extremely important in prophylaxis against ocular infection. The variation in microflora of normal conjunctiva in this part of world can be attributed to geographical, climatic and ethnic characteristics of the population under study.Sharma Parmeshri Dass Sharma Neelam Gupta Ravinder Kumar Singh Parul 2013International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2013,6,5:4

10Software Reliability Assessment Using Hybrid Neuro-Fuzzy Model显示文摘Software reliability is the primary concern of software developmentorganizations, and the exponentially increasing demand for reliable softwarerequires modeling techniques to be developed in the present era. Small unnoticeable drifts in the software can culminate into a disaster. Early removal of theseerrors helps the organization improve and enhance the software’s reliability andsave money, time, and effort. Many soft computing techniques are available toget solutions for critical problems but selecting the appropriate technique is abig challenge. This paper proposed an efficient algorithm that can be used forthe prediction of software reliability. The proposed algorithm is implementedusing a hybrid approach named Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System and has also beenapplied to test data. In this work, a comparison among different techniques of softcomputing has been performed. After testing and training the real time data withthe reliability prediction in terms of mean relative error and mean absolute relativeerror as 0.0060 and 0.0121, respectively, the claim has been verified. The resultsclaim that the proposed algorithm predicts attractive outcomes in terms of meanabsolute relative error plus mean relative error compared to the other existingmodels that justify the reliability prediction of the proposed model. Thus, thisnovel technique intends to make this model as simple as possible to improvethe software reliability.Parul Gandhi Mohammad Zubair Khan Ravi Kumar Sharma Omar H.Alhazmi Surbhi Bhatia Chinmay Chakraborty 2022Computer Systems Science & Engineering2022,41,6:0
11An update on Ayurvedic herb Convolvulus pluricaulis Choisy显示文摘Convolvulus pluricaulis Choisy(C.pluricaulis)is a perennial herb that seems like morning glory. All parts of the herb are known to possess therapeutic benefits. The plant is used locally in Indian and Chinese medicine to cure various diseases. It is used in Ayurvedic formulation for chronic cough, sleeplessness, epilepsy, hallucinations, anxiety etc.Based on the comprehensive review of plant profile, pharmacognosy, phylochemistry, pharmacological and toxicological data on the C.pluricaulis, there will be more opportunities for the future research and development on the herb C.pluricaulis.Information on the C.pluricaulis was collected via electronic search(using Pub Med,SciFinder,Google Scholar and Web of Science)and library search for articles published in peer-reviewed journals.Furthermore, information also was obtained from some local books on ethnopharmacology. This paper covers the literature, primarily pharmacological, from 1985 to the end of 2012.The C.pluricaulis is an important indigenous medicine, which has a long medicinal application for liver disease, epileptic disease, microbial disease, cytotoxic and viral diseases, central nervous system(CNS)disease in Ayurvedic medicine, traditional Chinese medicine and other indigenous medical systems. The isolated metabolites and crude extract have exhibited a wide of in vitro and in vivo pharmacological effect, including CNS depression, anxiolytic, tranquillizing, antidepressant, antistress, neurodegenerative, antiamnesic, antioxidant, hypolipidemic, immunomodulatory, analgesic, antifungal, antibacterial, antidiabetic, antiulcer, anticatatonic, and cardiovascular activity.A chemical study of this plant was then initiated, which led to the isolation of carbohydrats, proteins, alkaloids, fatty acids, steroids, coumarins.flavanoids, and glycosides as active chemicals that bring about its biological effects.A scries of pharmacognostical studies of this plant show that it is a herb, its stem and leaves are hairy, more over it has two types of stomata, anisocytic and paracytic.A herb,C.pluricaulis has emerged as a good source of the traditional medicine for the treatment of liver disease, epileptic disease, microbial disease, cytotoxic and viral diseases, and CNS disease.Pharmacological results have validated the use of this species in traditional medicine. All the parts of the herb are known to possess therapeutic benefits.Expansion of research materials would provide more opportunities for the discovery of new bioactive principles from C.pluricaulis.Parul Agarwa Bhawna Sharma Anireen Fatima Sanjay Kumar Jain 2014Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2014,4,3:0
