2Particle size characterization by ultrasonic attenuation spectra显示文摘This paper contributes to extracting information from signals of broadband ultrasonic attenuation spectrum for effective utilization in particle size characterization. The single particle scattering model and the coupled-phase model are formulated simultaneously, the relationship between particle size distribution and ultrasonic spectrum is established, and a convergence criterion for calculation is quantified. Demonstration inversion by the optimum regularization factor method is carried out to yield typical numerical results for discussion. With the experimental set-up developed by the Institute of Particle and Two-Phase Flow Measurement (IPTFM) at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, sand sediment particle size is measured by attenuation spectrum and analyzed using the above inversion algorithm and theoretical models. 6Studies of low-lying states of even-even Xe isotopes within the nucleon pair approximation显示文摘We study the relevance of nucleon pairs with higher spins, in addition to spin-zero and spin-two pairs (i.e., S D pairs), in low-lying states of even-even Xe nuclei. By including those higher-spin pairs in our configuration, we recalculate energy level schemes, elec trical quadrupole moments, magnetic moments and electric quadrupole transition rates, for low-lying states of even-even 128-142Xe nuclei. 8New evidence for lack of CMB power on large scales显示文摘A digitalized temperature map is recovered from the first light sky survey image published by the Planck team, from which an angular power spectrum of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) is derived. The amplitudes of the low multipoles (low-l) measured from the preliminary Planck power spectrum are significantly lower than those reported by the WMAP team. 9Heavy ion reactions around the Coulomb barrier显示文摘The angular distributions of fission fragments for the 32S+184W reaction near Coulomb barrier energies are measured. The ex perimental fission excitation function is obtained. The measured fission cross sections are decomposed into fusion-fission, quasi-fission and fast fission contributions by the dinuclear system (DNS) model. The hindrance to completing fusion both at small and large collision energies is explained. The fusion excitation functions of 32S+90,96Zr in an energy range from above to below the Coulomb barrier are measured and analyzed within a semi-classical model. The obvious effect of positive Q-value multi-neutron transfers on the sub-barrier fusion enhancement is observed in the 32S+96Zr system. In addition, the excitation functions of quasi-elastic scattering at a backward angle have been measured with high precision for the systems of 16O+208Pb, 196Pt, 184W, and 154,152Sm at energies well below the Coulomb barrier. Considering the deformed coupling effects, the extracted diffuseness parameters are close to the values extracted from the systematic analysis of elastic and inelastic scattering data. The elastic scattering angular distribution of 17F+12C at 60 MeV is measured and calculated by using the continuum-discretized coupled-channels (CDCC) approach. It is found that the diffuseness parameter of the real part of core-target potential has to be increased by 20% to reproduce the experimental result, which corresponds to an increment of potential depth at the surface re gion. 11GRB 090423:Marking the death of a massive star at z=8.2显示文摘GRB 090423 is the new high-z record holder of Gamma-ray bursts(GRBs) with z-8.2.We present a detailed analysis of both the spectral and temporal features of GRB 090423 observed with Swift/BAT and Fermi/GBM.We find that the T90 observed with BAT in the 15-150 keV band is 13.2 s,corresponding to-1.4 s at z=8.2.It once again gives rise to the issue of whether the progenitors of high-z GRBs are massive stars or mergers since the discovery of GRB 080913 at z=6.7.In comparison with the T90 distribution in the burst frame of the current redshift-known GRB sample,we find that it is marginally grouped into the long group(Type II GRBs).The spectrum observed with both BAT and GBM is well fitted by a power-law with exponential cutoff,which yields an Ep=(50.4±7.0) keV.The event satisfies the Amati-relation well for Type II GRBs within their 3σ uncertainty range.Our results indicate that this event would be produced by the death of a massive star.Based on the Amati-relation,we derive its distance modulus,which follows the Hubble diagram of the concordance cosmology model at a redshift of-8.2.LIN Lin1,LIANG EnWei2 & ZHANG ShuangNan3 1 Department of Physics and Center for Astrophysics,Tsinghua University,Beijing 100084,China 2 Department of Physics,Guangxi University,Nanning 530004,China 3 Key Laboratory of Particle Astrophysics,Institute of High Energy Physics,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Beijing 100049,China 2010Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2010,53,S1:2

14Simulation of the in-flight calibration of the collimator alignment and PSF for HXMT显示文摘The Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope(HXMT) is an X-ray astronomical satellite in 1-250 keV,consisting of three collimated instruments.We present the in-flight calibration approach of the collimator alignment and Point Spread Function(PSF) for HXMT,using both the direct fitting method and the imaging method.According to observational simulations of the Crab Nebula,we find that these two methods produce almost the same calibration accuracy of the alignment,and with a one-day scanning observation,the alignment can be calibrated to better than 0.45' and 0.1' along the wide and narrow directions of the Field of View(FOV) for a detector module,which corresponds to a localization accuracy of better than 0.1' and meets the scientific requirement.XIONG ShaoLin,LI XinQiao,QU JinLu & LU FangJun Key Laboratory for Particle Astrophysics,Institute of High Energy Physics,Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS),Beijing 100049,China 2010Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2010,53,S1:1
