1The International Study Group of Pancreatic Surgery definition of delayed gastric emptying and the effects of various surgical modifications on the occurrence of delayed gastric emptying after pancreatoduodenectomy显示文摘BACKGROUND:A number of definitions have been used for delayed gastric emptying(DGE) after pancreatoduodenectomy and the reported rates varied widely. The International Study Group of Pancreatic Surgery(ISGPS) definition is the current standard but it is not used universally. In this comprehensive review,we aimed to determine the acceptance rate of ISGPS definition of DGE,the incidence of DGE after pancreatoduodenectomy and the effect of various technical modifications on its incidence.DATA SOURCE:We searched PubM ed for studies regarding DGE after pancreatoduodenectomy that were published from 1 January 1980 to 1 July 2015 and extracted data on DGE definition,DGE rates and comparison of DGE rates among different technical modifications from all of the relevant articles.RESULTS:Out of 435 search results,178 were selected for data extraction. The ISGPS definition was used in 80% of the studies published since 2010 and the average rates of DGE and clinically relevant DGE were 27.7%(range:0-100%;median:18.7%) and 14.3%(range:1.8%-58.2%;median:13.6%),respectively.Pylorus preservation or retrocolic reconstruction were not associated with increased DGE rates.Although pyloric dilatation,Braun's entero-enterostomy and Billroth Ⅱ reconstruction were associated with significantly lower DGE rates, pyloric ring resection appears to be most promising with favorable results in 7 out of 10 studies.CONCLUSIONS:ISGPS definition of DGE has been used in majority of studies published after 2010.Clinically relevant DGE rates remain high at 14.3% despite a number of proposed surgical modifications.Pyloric ring resection seems to offer the most promising solution to reduce the occurrence of DGE.Rajesh Panwar Sujoy Pal 2017Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2017,16,4:13
2Cystic lesions of peripheral nerves:Are we missing the diagnosis of the intraneural ganglion cyst?显示文摘AIM To highlight the salient magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) features of the intraneural ganglion cyst(INGC) of various peripheral nerves for their precise diagnosis and to differentiate them from other intra and extraneural cystic lesions.METHODS A retrospective analysis of the magnetic resonance(MR) images of a cohort of 245 patients presenting with nerve palsy involving different peripheral nerves was done.MR images were analyzed for the presence of a nerve lesion, and if found,it was further characterized as solid or cystic. The serial axial, coronal and sagittal MR images of the lesions diagnosed as INGC were studied for their pattern and the anatomical extent along the course of the affected nerve and its branches. Its relation to identifiable anatomical landmarks, intraarticular communication and presence of denervation changes in the muscles supplied by involved nerve was also studied.RESULTS A total of 45 cystic lesions in the intra or extraneurallocations of the nerves were identified from the 245 MR scans done for patients presenting with nerve palsy.Out of these 45 cystic lesions,13 were diagnosed to have INGC of a peripheral nerve on MRI.The other cystic lesions included extraneural ganglion cyst, paralabral cyst impinging upon the suprascapular nerve, cystic schwannoma and nerve abscesses related to Hansen's disease involving various peripheral nerves.Thirteen lesions of INGC were identified in 12 patients.Seven of these affected the common peroneal nerve with one patient having a bilateral involvement. Two lesions each were noted in the tibial and suprascapular nerves, and one each in the obturator and proximal sciatic nerve. An intra-articular connection along the articular branch was demonstrated in 12 out of 13 lesions.Varying stages of denervation atrophy of the supplied muscles of the affected nerves were seen in 7 cases.Out of these 13 lesions in 12 patients,6 underwent surgery.CONCLUSION INGC is an important cause of reversible mono-neuropathy if diagnosed early and surgically treated. Its classic MRI pattern differentiates it from other lesions of the peripheral nerve and aid in its therapeutic planning. In each case, the joint connection has to be identified preoperatively, and the same should be excised during surgery to prevent further cyst recurrence.Jyoti Panwar Anil Mathew Binu P Thomas 2017World Journal of Radiology2017,9,5:5
3In situ synthesis of Ag-SiO_2 Janus particles with epoxy functionality for textile applications显示文摘A facile method for the synthesis of silver-silica(Ag-SiO_2) Janus particles with functionalities suitable for textile applications is reported.Silica nanoparticles prepared by the Stober method were functionalized with epoxy, amine, and thiol groups, which were confirmed by Fourier transform infrared analysis. The functionalized silica nanoparticles were used to produce Pickering emulsions, and the exposed surface was used for the attachment of silver nanoparticles(AgNPs) via the low-temperature chemical reduction method. The morphology and structure of the Ag-SiO_2 Janus particles were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, scanning transmission electron microscopy,high-resolution transmission electron microscopy,energy-dispersive X-ray analysis, and UV-vis spectroscopy.Because of their specific functionalities, these Ag-SiO_2 Janus particles are proposed for applications on textile substrates,as they can overcome several drawbacks of direct application of AgNPs on textiles, such as leaching, agglomeration, and instability during storage.Kamlesh Panwar Manjeet Jassal Ashwini K.Agrawal 2015Particuology2015,13,2:3

5Recent advances in assessment of soil erosion vulnerability in a watershed显示文摘Soil erosion is one of the most critical hazards adversely affecting both environment and economy.Assessment of the annual soil erosion rate provides information on soil erosion risk zones indicating the areas with high, severe and low risks.Modelling and prediction of soil erosion has a long history of more than seven decades. It becomes imperative to be familiar with the quantum of studies conducted and methods employed across the world to assess vulnerability of ecosystems to soil erosion to plan strategies for their conservation. There are several methods based on various factors like land use, soil quality, topography etc.available to assess the susceptibility of a region to soil loss. With time the gap in understanding of such models and their use around the world has increased.Numerous models for assessing soil erosion exist but there is a lack of knowledge on spatial distribution of the methods being used.Academic papers related to assessment of soil erosion vulnerability published during the past three decades(1991—2019)were reviewed.Total 160 studies were reviewed to understand advances in the methods used to assess soil erosion vulnerability worldwide, identification of the most popular methods and proportion of studies conducted in the fragile region of Himalayas. The results show that 18 different methods have mainly been used to assess soil erosion risk in different regions. These methods include statistical, physical, process based and empirical models. The use of few physical methods like ANSWERS and SHE has decreased with time while that of physical and process methods like RUSLE,SWAT,WEPP and PESERA has increased with time. The review highlighted that various models being used worldwide are based on their suitability to the region. It also brings to attention that few models like PESERA,EUROSEM and WEPP are mostly being used concentrated in a particular region.Models like PESERA and EPM are mostly used in European region and may be encouraged to estimate soil erosion in Himalayan region. The review also highlights lack of studies with inclusion of water quality as an important parameter while assessing soil erosion vulnerability in the region. The review suggests that in case of lack of data, various statistical methods like PCA,CF,FUZZY etc can be preferred for qualitative assessment over quantitative assessment Considering availability of accurate input, researchers need to attempt more methods and perform comparative studies to attain accurate results for assessing soil erosion vulnerability leading to strategizing soil conservation in fragile regions.Shachi Pandey Parmanand Kumar Miodrag Zlatic Raman Nautiyal Vijender Pal Panwar 2021International Soil and Water Conservation Research2021,9,3:2
