| 1 | TREATMENT OF METALS, POLYMER FILMS, AND FABRICS WITHA ONE ATMOSPHERE UNIFORM GLOW DISCHARGE PLASMA(OAUGDP) FOR INCREASED SURFACE ENERGY AND DIRECTIONAL ETCHING显示文摘Direct exposure of samples to the active species of air generated by a One Atmosphere Uniform Glow Discharge Plasma (OAUGDP) has been used to etch and to increase the surface energy of metallic surfaces, photoresist, polymer films, and nonwoven fab- rics. The OAUGDP is a non-thermal plasma with the classical characteristics of a DC normal glow discharge that operates in air (and other gases) at atmospheric pres- sure. Neither a vacuum system nor batch processing is necessary. A wide range of applications to metals, photoresist, films, fabrics, and polymeric webs can be accom- modated by direct exposure of the workpiece to the plasma in parallel-plate reactors. This technolopy is simple, it produces effects that can be obtained in no other way at one atmosphere; it generates minimal pollutants or unwanted by-products; and it is suitable for individual sample or online treatment of metallic surfaces, wafers, films, and fabrics. Early exposures of solid materials to the OAUGDP required minutes to produce rela- tively small increases of surface energy. These durations appeared too long for com- mercial application to fast-moving webs. Recent improvements in OAUGDP gas com- position, power density, plasma quality, recireulating gas flow, and impedance match- ing of the power supply to the parallel plate plasma reactor have made it possible to raise the surface energy of a variety of polymeric webs (PP, PET PE etc.) to levels of 60 to 70 dynes/cm with one second of exposure. In air plasmas, the high surface ener- gies are not durable, and fall to 50 dynes/cm after periods of weeks to months. Here, we report the exposure of metallic surfaces, photoresist, polymeric films, and nonwo- ven fabrics made of PP and PET to an impedance matched parallel plate OAUGDP for durations ranging from one second to several tens of seconds. Data will be re- ported on the surface energy, wettability, wickability, and aging effect of polymeric films and fabrics as functions of time of exposure, and time after exposure; the rate and uniformity of photoresist etching; and the production of sub-micron structures by OAUGDP etching at one atmosphere. | J. | 3 | Latest progress on interactions between VLF/ELF waves and energetic electrons in the inner magnetosphere显示文摘Interactions between very/extremely low frequency (VLF/ELF) waves and energetic electrons play a fundamental role in dynamics occurring in the inner magnetosphere. Here, we briefly discuss global properties of VLF/ELF waves, along with the variability of the electron radiation belts associated with wave-particle interactions and radial diffusion. We provide cases of electron loss and acceleration as a result of wave-particle interactions primarily due to such waves, and particularly some preliminary results of 3D evolution of phase space density from our currently developing 3D code. We comment on the existing mechanisms responsible for acceleration and loss, and identify several critical issues that need to be addressed. | 4 | Research on EM pulse protection property of plasma-microwave absorptive material-plasma sandwich structure显示文摘A plasma-microwave absorptive material (MAM)-plasma sandwich structure is presented to protect the electronic device against high power electromagnetic pulse. The model of electromagnetic wave reflected by and transmitting through the structure is established. Based on the characteristic parameters of plasma generated by discharge and usual MAM, the electromagnetic transmissive properties of the sandwich structure are investigated by the method of finite difference in time domain. The results indicate that in a rather broad frequency range, the electromagnetic attenuations by the structure are obviously better than the sum of attenuations resulted from plasma and MAM respectively. | 6 | COMPUTATIONAL SCHEME FOR SIMULATING PLASMA DYNAM-ICS DURING PLASMA-IMMERSION ION IMPLANTATION显示文摘Plasma-immersion ion implantation (PIII) is a technique for implanting ions into conducting, semiconducting and insulating objects. In PIII, the object being treated is immersed in a plasma and pulsed to a large negative voltage (=-1 to-100 kV). The resulting sheath expands into the ambient plasma, extracting ions and accelerating them to the target. PIII has advantages over beam-line implantation in that large surfaces can be rapidly implanted, irregularly-shaped objects can be implanted without target manipulation, and surfaces that are not line-of-sight accessible can be treated. A two-dimensional, self-consistent model of plasma dynamics appropriate for PIII is described. The model is a hybrid, with Boltzmann electrons and kinetic ions, where the ion Vlasov equation is solved using the particle-in-cell (PIC) method. Solutions of the model give the time dependence of the ion flux, energy and impact angle at the target surface, together with the evolution of the sheath. | T. E. | 7 | Investigation of radionuclide~(63)Ni(Ⅱ) sequestration mechanisms on mordenite by batch and EXAFS spectroscopy study显示文摘The sorption behavior and microscopic sequestration mechanisms of radionuclide 63Ni(II) on mordenite as a function of aging time,ionic strength,initial 63Ni(Ⅱ) concentrations,solid content and coexistent electrolyte ions were investigated by the com-bination of batch and EXAFS techniques.Macroscopic experiment results show that the sorption of 63Ni(Ⅱ) is dependent on ionic strength at pH<7,and independent of ionic strength at pH>7.The sorption percentage of 63Ni(Ⅱ) on mordenite increases with increasing solid content,while the sorption capacity decreases as solid content increases.The presence of different elec-trolyte ions can enhance or inhibit the sorption of Ni(II) on mordenite in various degrees.EXAFS analysis results of the sam-ples under three different ionic strengths suggest that the retained 63Ni(Ⅱ) in these samples exists in an octahedral environment with six water ligands.In the initial period of rapid uptake,the sorption of 63Ni(Ⅱ) is dominated by the formation of in-ner-sphere surface complexes.As aging time increases,63Ni(Ⅱ) sequestration behavior tends to be mainly controlled by the formation of Ni phyllosilicate co-precipitates and/or Ni(OH)2(s) precipitates.Results for the second shell fit of the sample pre-pared at an initial 63Ni(Ⅱ) concentration of 100 mg/L indicate the possible formation of Ni polynuclear surface complexes.Both the macroscopic sorption data and the molecular level evidence of 63Ni(Ⅱ) surface speciation at the mordenite/water in-terfaces should be factored into better predictions of the mobility and bioavailability of 63Ni(Ⅱ) in environment mediums. | YANG ShiTong,SHENG GuoDong,GUO ZhiQiang,TAN XiaoLi,XU JinZhang & WANG XiangKe Key Laboratory of Novel Thin Film Solar Cells,Institute of Plasma Physics,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Hefei 230031,China | 2012 | Science China Chemistry2012,55,4: | 5 |

| 9 | H_2 production with low CO selectivity from photocatalytic reforming of glucose on metal/TiO_2 catalysts显示文摘H2 with low CO concentration is produced via photocatalytic reforming of glucose (as a representative of biomass component) on metal/TiO2 catalyst (metals: Pt, Rh, Ru, Ir, Au, Ni, Cu). It is shown that the loaded metals generally enhance the rate of H2 production, while they depress the CO selectivity. Both H2 production and CO selectivity are strongly dependent on the kind of deposited metals on TiO2. | 12 | Effect of upward ion on field-aligned currents in the near-earth magnetotail显示文摘A 3-dimensional resistive MHD simulation was carried out to study the effect of the upward ions on the field-aligned currents (FACs) in the near-earth magnetotail. The simulation results show that the up-flow ions originating from the nightside auroral oval would drift into the center plasma sheet along the magnetic field lines in the plasma sheet boundary, and have an important effect on the field-aligned currents.
