| 1 | Modeling study of regional severe hazes over mid-eastern China in January 2013 and its implications on pollution prevention and control显示文摘The Nested Air Quality Prediction Model System(NAQPMS)was used to investigate the temporal and spatial variations of PM2.5over tropospheric central eastern China in January 2013.The impact of regional transport and its implications on pollution prevention and control were also examined.Comparison between simulated and observed PM2.5showed NAQPMS was able to reproduce the evolution of PM2.5during heavy haze episodes.The results indicated that regional transport of PM2.5played an important role in regional haze episodes in the city cluster including Hebei,Beijing and Tianjin(HBT).The cross-city clusters transport outside HBT and transport among cities inside HBT contributed 20%–35%and 26%–35%of PM2.5as compared with local emission,in HBT respectively.To meet the Air Quality Standards for Grade II,90%,90%and65%of emissions would have to be cut down in Hebei,Tianjin and Beijing,if non-control strategy was taken in the surrounding city clusters of HBT.This implicated that control of emissions in one city cluster is not sufficient to reduce regional haze events,and joint efforts among city clusters are essential.Besides regional transports,two-way feedback between boundary-layer evolution and PM2.5also significantly contributed to the formation of heavy hazes,which contributed 30%of monthly average PM2.5concentration in HBT. | WANG ZiFa LI Jie WANG Zhe YANG WenYi TANG Xiao GE BaoZhu YAN PinZhong ZHU LiLi CHEN XueShun CHEN HuanSheng WAND Wei LI JianJun LIU Bing WANG XiaoYan WAND Wei ZHAO YiLin LU Ning SU DeBin | 2014 | Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,1: | 106 |
| 2 | Long-term follow-up of the effects of fecal microbiota transplantation in combination with soluble dietary fiber as a therapeutic regimen in slow transit constipation显示文摘As some studies have reported that strategies targeting the gut microbiota such as fecal microbiota transplantation(FMT) with or without other microecological therapy might have efficacy in treating slow transit constipation(STC), we conducted a singlecenter, open-label trial to study the long-term effect of FMT combined with soluble dietary fiber(pectin) on STC. Thirty-one adult patients with STC were enrolled into the trial. Patients received 6-day FMT procedures repeatedly for the first 3 months and soluble dietary fiber(pectin) daily during the follow-up. The rate of clinical remission and improvement, stool consistency, the Wexner constipation scale, and assessment of constipation-related symptoms were evaluated at week 4 and 1 year later. The clinical remission and improvement rates at week 4 were 69.0%(20/29) and 75.9%(22/29), respectively. At the end of the study,48.3%(14/29) of patients continued to have at least three complete spontaneous bowel movements per week and 58.6%(17/29)of patients showed clinical improvements. Stool consistency, the Wexner constipation scale, and constipation symptoms improved both at short-term and long-term follow-up. | 4 | Fairness-Oriented Hybrid Precoding for Massive MIMO Maritime Downlink Systems with Large-Scale CSIT显示文摘Different from conventional cellular networks, a maritime communication base station(BS) has to cover a much wider area due to the limitation of available BS sites. Accordingly the performance of users far away from the BS is poor in general. This renders the fairness among users a challenging issue for maritime communications. In this paper, we consider a practical massive MIMO maritime BS with hybrid digital and analog precoding. Only the large-scale channel state information at the transmitter(CSIT) is considered so as to reduce the implementation complexity and overhead of the system. On this basis, we address the problem of fairness-oriented precoding design. A max-min optimization problem is formulated and solved in an iterative way. | 6 | Expression and correlation of CD44v6, vascular endothelial growth factor, matrix metalloproteinase-2, and matrix metalloproteinase-9 in Krukenberg tumor显示文摘AIM: To explore the expression and correlation of CD44v6,vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2 and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-9 in Krukenberg and primary epithelial ovarian carcinoma.METHODS: The expressions of CD44v6, VEGF, MMP-2and MMP-9 were detected by immunohistochemical method in 20 cases of normal ovarian tissues, 38 cases of Krukenberg tumor and 45 cases of primary epithelial ovarian carcinoma.RESULTS: The expression of CD44v6 (primary epithelial ovarian carcinoma tissue vs normal ovarian tissue:x2= 4.516, P= 0.034; Krukenberg tumor tissue vsnormal ovarian tissue: x2 = 19.537, P= 0.001) and VEGF (primary epithelial ovarian carcinoma tissue vs normal ovarian tissue: P = 0.026; Krukenberg tumor tissue vs normal ovarian tissue: x2= 22.895, P = 0.001) was significantly higher in primary epithelial ovarian carcinoma tissue and Krukenberg tumor tissue than in normal ovarian tissue.The positive expression rate of MMP-2 and MMP-9 was 0%in the normal ovarian tissue. The positive expression rate of CD44v6 (x2 = 10.398, P = 0.001), VEGF (x2 = 13.149,P= 0.001), MMP-2 (x2= 33.668, P= 0.001) and MMP-9(x2= 38.839, P = 0.001) was remarkably higher in Krukenberg tumor than in primary epithelial ovarian carcinoma. The correlation of CD44v6, VEGF, MMP-2, and MMP-9 was observed in primary epithelial ovarian carcinoma and Krukenberg tumor.CONCLUSION: CD44v6, VEGF, MMP-2, and MMP-9 are involved in ovarian carcinoma, gastric cancer and Krukenberg tumor. | 8 | Prevention of hepatocellular carcinoma in mice by IL-2 and B7-1 genes co-transfected liver cancer cell vaccines显示文摘AIM: To study the immunoprotective effect of liver cancer vaccine with co-transfected IL-2 and B7-1 genes on hepatocarcinogenesis in mice.METHODS: The murine liver cancer cell line Hepal-6 was transfected with IL-2 and/or B7-1 gene via recombinant adenoviral vectors and the liver cancer vaccines were prepared. C57BL/6 mice were immunized with these vaccines and challenged with the parental Hepal-6 cells afterwards.The immunoprotection was investigated and the reactive T cell line was assayed.RESULTS: The immunoprotection of the tumor vaccine was demonstrated. The effect of IL-2 and B7-1 genes cotransfected Hepal-6 liver cancer vaccine (Hep6-IL2/B7vaccine) on the onset of tumor formation was the strongest.When attacked with wild Hepal-6 cells, the median survival period of the mice immunized with Hep6-IL2/B7 vaccine was the longest (68 days, χ2=7.70-11.69, P<0.05) and the implanted tumor was the smallest (z =3.20-44.10, P<0.05).The effect of single IL-2 or B7-1 gene-transfected vaccine was next to the IL2/B7 gene co-transfected group, and the mean survival periods were 59 and 54 days, respectively.The mean survival periods of wild or enhanced green fluorescence protein gene modified vaccine immunized group were 51 and 48 days, respectively. The mice in control group all died within 38 days and the implanted tumor was the largest (z=3.20-40.21, P<0.05). The cellular immunofunction test and cytotoxicity study showed that the natural killer (NK) cell, lymphokine activated killer (LAK) cell and cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) activities were significantly increased in mice immunized with the Hep6-IL2/B7 vaccine, (29.5±2.5%,65.0±2.9%, 83.1±1.5% respectively, compared with other groups, P<0.05).CONCLUSION: The Hep6-IL2/B7 liver cancer vaccines can induce the mice to produce activated and specific CTL against the parental tumor cells, and demonstrate stronger effect on the hepatocarcinogenesis than single gene modified or the regular tumor vaccine. | 11 | Tongqiao Huoxue Decoction ameliorates learning and memory defects in rats with vascular dementia by up-regulating the Ca^(2+)-CaMKII-CREB pathway显示文摘The present study was aimed at determining the effects of Tongqiao Huoxue Decoction(TQHXD) on the Ca2+-Ca MKII-CREB pathway and the memory and learning capacities of rats with vascular dementia(VD). The rat VD model was established by using an improved bilateral carotid artery ligation method. The Morris water maze experiment was used to evaluate the ethology of the VD rats following treatments with TQHXD at 3.01, 6.02, and 12.04 g·kg–1 per day for 31 days. At the end of experiment, the hippocampus were harvested and analyzed. Western blotting and RT-PCR were used to measure the expression levels of calmodulin-binding protein kinase II(Ca MKII), protein kinase A(PKA), c AMP-response element binding protein(CREB), and three N-methyl-D-aspartic acid receptor subunits(NR1, NR2 A, and NR2B). Our results revealed that TQHXD could alleviate the loss of learning abilities and increase the memory capacity(P < 0.05 and P < 0.01 vs the model group, respectively). The treatment with 6.02 and 12.04 g·kg–1 of TQHXD significantly up-regulated the Ca2+-Ca MKII-CREB pathway in the hippocampus. | 14 | Physicians’Perception of Palliative Care Consultation Service in a Major General Hospital in China显示文摘Objectives The in-hosptial palliative care consultation(PCC)is emerging as a routine service in some medical center in China.The current study evaluated how physicians in primary care team and consultation team perceive the PCC service for the purpose of investigating the effectiveness of this consultation model in a general hospital.Methods In-hosptial palliative care consultations have been carried out at Peking Union Medical College Hosptial by a dedicated consultation team,and37consultations were completed in2016.A questionnaire was designed for physicians in terms of its benefits to patients,their family as well as the primary care team.Physicians who applied for consultation in2016formally(requested from the department other than the Geriatrics)and informally(by rotating residents and unemployed visiting doctors in geriatric department)were invited to participate in the survey by scanning a two dimentional code on social networking platform.Results There were103physicians participated in the survey,including primary care physicians from the department of Internal Medicine(n=8),Gynaecology(n=16)and Surgery(n=13),rotating residents(n=30),visiting doctors(n=16)in Geriatric department,and PCC team members(n=20).94.0%of the non-PCC physicians agreed that PCC relieved the suffering of patients;89.2%thought PCC improved the quality of patients'life;there were91.6%,95.2%,90.4%physicians who felt it relieved the anxiety of patients,of family members and of care providers,respectively.There were96.4%physicians who felt it could ease the tension in physician-patient relationship;97.6%felt it lower the risk for medical negligence,and96.4%of doctors who applied for PPC felt satisfied with PCC service in terms of process and achieving objectives of consultation.More primary-team physician agree'PCC service helps the physicians better understand palliative care'than PCC members(97.6%vs.80%,P<0.05),while both were interested in learning more on palliative medicine(100%vs.96.4%,P>0.05). | Xuan Qu Nan Jiang Nan Ge Xiaohong Ning | 2018 | Chinese Medical Sciences Journal2018,33,4: | 9 |

| 18 | Effects of groundwater level on vegetation in the arid area of western China显示文摘At present,investigation about the relationship between the change of groundwater level and vegetation mostly focuses on specific watersheds,i.e.limited in river catchment scale.Understanding the change of groundwater level on vegetation in the basin or large scale,be urgently needed.To fill this gap,two typical arid areas in the west of China(Tarim Basin and Qaidam Basin)were chosen the a typical research area.The vegetation status was evaluated via normalization difference vegetation index(NDVI)from 2000 to 2016,sourced from MODN1F dataset.The data used to reflect climate change were download from CMDSC(http://gffzz4229473beeb04795hvxuv5pvkxbvw66cc.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn).Groundwater level data was collected from monitor wells.Then,the relationship of vegetation and climate change was established with univariate linear regression and correlation analysis approach.Results show that:Generally,NDVI value in the study area decreased before 2004 then increased in the research period.Severe degradation was observed in the center of the basin.The area with an NDVI value>0.5 decreased from 12%to 6%between 2000 and 2004.From 2004 to 2014,the vegetation in the study area was gradually restored.The whole coverage of Qaidam Basin was low.And the NDVI around East Taigener salt-lake degraded significantly,from 0.596 to 0.005,2014 and 2016,respectively.The fluctuation of groundwater level is the main reason for the change of surface vegetation coverage during the vegetation degradation in the basin.However,the average annual precipitation in the study area is low,which is not enough to have a significant impact on vegetation growth.The annual average precipitation showed an increase trend during the vegetation restoration in the basin,which alleviates the water shortage of vegetation growth in the region.Meanwhile,the dependence of surface vegetation on groundwater is obviously weakened with the correlation index is−0.248.The research results are of some significance to eco-environment protection in the arid area of western China. | Ge Song Jin-ting Huang Bo-han Ning Jia-wei Wang Lei Zeng | 2021 | China Geology2021,4,3: | 6 |

| 20 | The Influence of Normal Load and Sliding Speed on Frictional Properties of Skin显示文摘The study of frictional properties of human skin is important for medical research, skin care products and textile exploi-tation. In order to investigate the influence of normal load and sliding speed on the frictional properties of skin and its possible mechanism, tests were carried out on a multi-specimen friction tester. When the normal load increases from 0.1 N to 0.9 N, normal displacement and the friction coefficient of skin increase. The friction coefficient is dependent on the load, indicating that both adhesion and deformation contribute to the friction behaviour. The deformation friction was interpreted using the plough model of friction. When sliding speed increases from 0.5 mm·s?1 to 4 mm·s?1, the friction coefficient increases and 'stick-slip' phenomena increase, indicating that hysteretic friction contributes to the friction.
