An Important Spreading Event of the Neo-Tethys Ocean during the Late Jurassic and Early Cretaceous: Evidence from Zircon U-Pb SHRIMP Dating on Diabase in Nagarze, Southern Tibet显示文摘Widely distributed in Gyangze-Chigu area, southern Tibet, NW- and nearly E-W-trending diabase(gabbro)-gabbro diorite dykes are regarded as the product of the large-scale spreading of the late Neo-Tethys Ocean. In order to constrain the emplacement age of these dykes, zircons of two samples from diabases in Nagarze were dated by using the U-Pb SHRIMP method. Two nearly the same weighted mean 206Pb/238U ages were obtained in this paper, which are 134.9±1.8 Ma (MSWD= 0.65) and 135.5±2.1 Ma (MSWD=1.40), respectively. They not only represent the crystallization age of the diabase, but also documented an important spreading event of the Neo-Tethys Ocean during the late Jurassic and early Cretaceous. This dating result is of great significance to reconstruct the temporal framework of the late Neo-Tethys Ocean in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.JIANG Sihong NIE Fengjun HU Peng LIU Yan 2006Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2006,80,4:28
Mantle Branch Structure in the South-Central Segment of the Da Hinggan Mts.,Inner Mongolia and Its Ore-controlling Role显示文摘Mantle branch structure is the third tectonic unit of multiple evolution of a mantle branch. It is not only the main mechanism of intercontinental orogeny, but also an important ore-forming and ore-control structure. Studies on geotectonic evolution, regional geological characteristics and ore-forming and ore-control structures have shown that since the Mesozoic the Da Hinggan Mts. region has entered a typical intercontinental orogenic stage, and it is closely related to mantle branch activities. The south-central segment of the Da Hinggan Mts. is a typical mantle branch structure and possesses obvious magmatic-metamorphic complexes in the core, detachment slip beds in the periphery and overlapped fault depression basins. Moreover, all of these are the principal factors leading to ore formation and ore control in the region. This paper also further explores the mechanism of mineralization in the south-central segment of the Da Hinggan, summaries the rules of mineralization, puts forward the models of mineralization and points out future ore-exploring orientation.NIU Shuyin SUN Aiqun WANG Baode NIE Fengjun JIANG Sihong SHAO Ji'an GUO Lijun LIU Jianming 2009Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2009,83,6:4
Study on the transverse structures across Taiwan Strait显示文摘The mountain ranges are almost NE- or NNE-trending in mainland and Taiwan island across the strait. But a number of correspondent transverse structures across Taiwan Strait have been identified on the basis of morphology, surface structure, deep seismic survey and gravity field etc. Moreover, it is inferred from the square or/and rectangular shape of the isoseist maps of 8 M≥6 earthquakes occurring in the western foothill plain of Taiwan that there is an apparent segmentation of the Taiwan Island along the N-S orientation. This has been verified from the GPS's results of the ground motions measured during the Chi-Chi earthquake in 1999. As a matter of fact, the transverse structures within the Taiwan Island could be correlated with more salient NW- and EW-trending structures in the mainland of Fujian than in Taiwan. The investigation of the transverse structures across Taiwan Strait is conducive to realizing the geology within the strait. Hence, the tectonic sketch map of the strait as well as mainland and island drawn in this context shows NW- and EW-trending structures for the study area.MA Zongjin (马宗晋) WANG Chien-Ying (王乾盈) XU Jie (徐杰) NIE Fengjun (聂逢君) ZHANG Jin (张进) 2002Science China Earth Sciences2002,45,12:4
Late Cretaceous-Cenozoic Multi-Stage Denudation at the Western Ordos Block: Constraints by the Apatite Fission Track Dating on the Langshan显示文摘The apatite fission track dating of samples from the Dabashan(i.e., the Langshan in the northeastern Alxa Block) by the laser ablation method and their thermal history modeling of AFT ages are conducted in this study. The obtained results and lines of geological evidence in the study region indicate that the Langshan has experienced complicated tectonic-thermal events during the the Late Cretaceous-Cenozoic. Firstly, it experienced a tectonic-thermal event in the Late Cretaceous(~90–70 Ma). The event had little relation with the oblique subduction of the Izanagi Plate along the eastern Eurasian Plate, but was related to the Neo-Tethys subduction and compression between the Lhasa Block and Qiangtang Block. Secondly, it underwent the dextral slip faulting in the Eocene(~50–45 Ma). The strike slip fault may develop in the same tectonic setting as sinistral slip faults in southern Mongolia and thrusts in West Qinling to the southwest Ordos Block in the same period, which is the remote far-field response to the India-Eurasia collision. Thirdly, the tectonic thermal event existed in the late Cenozoic(since ~10 Ma), thermal modeling shows that several samples began their denudation from upper region of partial annealing zone(PAZ), and the denudation may have a great relationship with the growth of Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau to the northeast. In addition, the AFT ages of Langshan indicate that the main body of the Langshan may be an upper part of fossil PAZ of the Late Cretaceous(~70 Ma). The fossil PAZ were destroyed and deformed by tectonic events repeatedly in the Cenozoic along with the denudation.CUI Xianyue ZHAO Qihua ZHANG Jin WANG Yannan ZHANG Beihang NIE Fengjun QU Junfeng ZHAO Heng 2018Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2018,92,2:3
Geochemistry and Sr-Nd-Pb Isotopes of the Granites from the Hashitu Mo Deposit of Inner Mongolia, China: Constraints on Their Origin and Tectonic Setting显示文摘The Hashitu molybdenum deposit is located in the southern part of the Great Hinggan Range,NE China.Molybdenum mineralization is hosted by and genetically associated with monzogranite and porphyritic syenogranite.Sr-Nd-Pb isotopes of the intrusions show that the porphyritic syenogranite has initial^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr ratios of 0.70418-0.70952,ε_(Nd)(t)values of 1.3 to 2.1(t=143Ma),^(206)Pb/^(204)Pb ratios of 19.191-19.573,^(207)Pb/^(204)Pb ratios of 15.551-15.572,and^(208)Pb/^(204)Pb ratios of38.826-39.143.The monzogranite has initial^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr ratios of 0.70293-0.71305,ε_(Nd)(t)values of 1.1 to2.0(t=147 Ma),^(206)Pb/^(204)Pb ratios of 19.507-20.075,^(207)Pb/^(204)Pb ratios of 15.564-15.596,and^(208)Pb/^(204)Pb ratios of 39.012-39.599.The calculated Nd model ages(T_(DM))for monzogranite and porphyritic syenogranite range from 866 to 1121 Ma and 795 to 1020 Ma,respectively. The granitic rocks in the Hashitu area have the same isotope range as granites in the southern parts of the Great Hinggan Range. The isotope composition indicates that these granites are derived from the partial melting of a juvenile lower crust originating from a depleted mantle with minor contamination by ancient continental crust. The integrating our results with published data and the Late Mesozoic regional tectonic setting of the region suggest that the granites in the Hashitu area formed in an intra-continent extensional setting, and they are related to the thinning of the thickened lithosphere and upwelling of the asthenosphere.DING Chengwu DAI Pan BAGAS Leon NIE Fengjun JIANG Sihong WEI Junhao DING Chengzhen ZUO Pengfei ZHANG Ke 2016Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2016,90,1:3

Geochemical Variations of the Late Paleozoic Granitoids from the Baolidao Arc-Accrection Belt in Southeastern Segment of Central Asia Orogenic Belt:Implications for Tectonic Transition from Early Carboniferous to Early Permian显示文摘Compositional changes in successively erupted felsic rocks can be used to infer physical changes in lower crustal conditions and to enhance the understanding of the tectonic regime. This study presents geochronological, geochemical and isotopic data for two I-type granitic plutons in the Sonid Left Banner of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt. Our new data, together with compiled I-type granitoid data, reveal the presence of magma compositional transition at~305 Ma in the Baolidao arc-accretion belt. The early stage granitoids(330-305 Ma)are medium-K calc-alkaline with higher Sr/Y ratios. The late stage granitoids(305-270 Ma)are high-K calc-alkaline with lower Sr/Y ratios. The two-stage granitoids have roughly similar predominately positive Sr-Nd-Hf isotope values, but with a decreasing trend from the early to late stages.Geochemical data indicate that the early stage granitoids were generated by dehydration melting of juvenile mafic crust at amphibole-dominated depths. In contrast, the late stage granitoids were produced by dehydration melting of a mixed lithology containing juvenile K-rich mafic lower crust and supracrustal materials at the plagioclase-stable crustal level. We propose that the compositional transition of these granitoids can be linked with different slab behaviors of the northward subducting Paleo-Asian oceanic plate, and also with the back-arc tectonic settings.Xueni Zhang Qingdong Zeng Fengjun Nie 2022Journal of Earth Science2022,33,3:0
GEOLOGICAL AND GEOCHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND RELATED MINERALIZATION OF CHERT FORMATIONS IN SOUTH TIBET显示文摘There occur abundant cherts in the Mesozoic and Cenozoic strata in southern Tibet. Some of them possess characteristic hydrothermal structures such as layered, laminated, massive and breccia structures. Ratios of Al/(Al+Fe+Mn), Co/Ni, Fe/Ti and TiO2-Al2O3 demonstrate that their origin is related to hydrothermal sedimentation. The chert formations have close relationship with Sb, Au and poly-metallic mineralization, and the ore-forming fluid show strong correlation with fossil hydrothermal water.HE Junguo ZHOU Yongzhang YANG Zhijun NIE Fengjun FU Wei ZHANG Chengbo 2005Geotectonica et Metallogenia2005,29,2:0
Roles of Multisourced Fluids in the Formation of Sandstone-Hosted Uranium Deposits in the SW Songliao Basin, NE China显示文摘The sandstone-hosted uranium deposits in the SW Songliao Basin differ from typical sandstone-hosted uranium deposits in terms of the geological features of the ore-deposits,including the geometry of the orebodies, mineral assemblage and petrography.Detailed drill core and microscopic observations, scanning electron microscopy(SEM),electron microprobe analysis(EMPA),heavy mineral concentrates, and fluid inclusion studies of the Upper Cretaceous Yaojia Formation,i.e.,the uranium-bearing layer, were integrated to investigate the roles of hydrothermal fluids in the formation of these uranium deposits. We found that the kaolinite alteration is developed in the mineralized zones, but it is less common in the peripheral areas. The fluid inclusions are hydrothermal fluids with a medium-low temperature(67 to 179 ℃) and a high salinity(5.9 wt.% to 20.1 wt.%).According to the analyses, three kinds of hydrothermal fluids,i.e.,the acid fluid, the groundwater heated by the mafic magma, and the alkaline fluid rich in Ca^(2+) and CO_(3)^(2-),were identified. The fluids might have low U content, but they have participated in the formation of the uranium deposits successively.Kaolinite formed by the acid-hydrothermal fluid absorbed large amounts of uranium.Subsequently, the thermal energy from the hydrothermal fluids changed the intrastratal redox environment and increased the solubility of the uranium minerals in the fluid. The alkaline-hydrothermal fluid rich in Ca^(2+) and C0_(3)^(2-) facilitated the formation of stable Ca-U(Ⅵ)-CO_(3) complex, which led to the enrichment of soluble uranium in solution, and final precipitation as pitchblende, brannerite and Ti-bearing uranium minerals in the uranium ores.Zhibing Feng Fengjun Nie Li Jiang Fei Xia Jianfang Cai Bocheng Zhang Yayun Lu Liangliang Zhang 2023Journal of Earth Science2023,34,1:0
Study on Basin-Filling and Reservoir Sedimentology of Zhu Ⅲ Depression of Pearl River Mouth Basin,South China Sea显示文摘Through basin-filling analysis, one coarsening-upward and two fining-upward sequences have been identified in Zhu Ⅲ depression. In accondance with the general model proposed by Ravnas and Steel (1998), the basin-filling has two large cycles—rift (sediment-balanced and -overfilled) and postrift (sedimentunderfilled and starved). During the rifting process, the rifted lake developed through three stages: early, climax and late. The sedimentary characteristics of reservoir rocks show that barrier bar, lagoon and tidal channel facies well developed in Zhuhai Formation; offshore, tidal and barrier bar well developed in Zhujiang Formation. Neighborly, Shenhu, Wenchang and Enping formations deposited in rifted lakes during Paleogene time; Zhujiang Formation deposited in bay, lagoon and shoreface in late Paleogene. Zhujiang and other formations deposited in offshore and open shallow sea to shelf.Nie Fengjun Department of Energy Resources, China University of Geosciences, Beijing 10008 Li Sitian Xie Xinong Wang Hua Faculty of Earth Resources, China University of Geosciences, Wuhan 430074 Zhu Weilin China National Offshore Oil Corporat 2000Journal of Earth Science2000,19,1:0
