| 1 | Biosorption characteristics of unicellular green alga Chlorella sorokiniana immobilized in loofa sponge for removal of Cr(Ⅲ)显示文摘Loofa sponge(LS)immobilized biomass of Chlorella sorokiniana(LSIBCS),isolated from industrial wastewater,was investigated as a new biosorbent for the removal of Cr(Ⅲ)from aqueous solution.A comparison of the biosorption of Cr(Ⅲ)by LSIBCS and free biomass of C.sorokiniana(FBCS)from 10-300 mg Cr(Ⅲ)/L aqueous solutions showed an increase in uptake of 17.79% when the rnicroalgal biomass was immobilized onto loofa sponge.Maximum biosorption capacity for LSIBCS and FBCS was found to be 69.26 and 58.80 mg Cr(Ⅲ)/g biosorbent,respectively,whereas the amount of Cr(Ⅲ)ions adsorbed onto naked LS was 4.97 mg/g.The kinetics of Cr(Ⅲ)biosorption was extremely rapid and equilibrium was established in about 15 and 20 min by LSIBCS and FBCS, respectively.The biosorption equilibrium was well defined by Langrnuir adsorption isotherm model.The biosorption kinetics followed the pseudo-second order kinetic model.The biosorption was found to be pH dependent and the maximum sorption occurred at the solution pH 4.0.Desorption studies showed that 98% of the adsorbed Cr(Ⅲ)could be desorbed with 0.1 mol/L HNO_3,while other desorbing agents were less effective in the order:EDTA>H_2SO_4>CH_3COOH>HCl.The regenerated LSIBCS retained 92.68% of the initial Cr(Ⅲ)binding capacity up to five cycles of reuse in continuous flow-fixed bed columns.The study revealed that LSIBCS could be used as an effective biosorbent for the removal of Cr(Ⅲ)from wastewater. | AKHTAR Nasreen IQBAL Muhammad ZAFAR Saeed Iqbal IQBAL Javed | 2008 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2008，20，2： | 20 |
| 2 | 反相高效液相色谱法同时测定片剂中的加替沙星与盐酸氨溴索(英文)显示文摘A reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method was developed, validated, and used for the quantitative determination of gatifloxacin (GA) and ambroxol hydrochloride (AM), from its tablet dosage form. Chromatographic separation was performed on a HiQ Sil C18 column (250 mm×4.6 mm, 5 μm), with a mobile phase comprising of a mixture of 0.01 mol/L potassium dihydrogen orthophosphate buffer and acetonitrile (70∶30, v/v), and pH adjusted to 3 with orthophosphoric acid, at a flow rate of 1 mL/min, with detection at 247 nm. Separation was completed in less than 10 min. As per International Conference on Harmonisation (ICH) guidelines the method was validated for linearity, accuracy, precision, limit of quantitation, limit of detection, and robustness. Linearity of GA was found to be in the range of 10-60 μg/mL and that for AM was found to be 5-30 μg/mL. The correlation coefficients were 0.999 6 and 0.999 3 for GA and AM respectively. The results of the tablet analysis (n=5) were found to be 99.94% with ±0.25% standard deviation (SD) and 99.98% with±0.36% SD for GA and AM respectively. Percent recovery of GA was found to be 99.92%-100.02% and that of AM was 99.86%-100.16%. The assay experiment shows that the method is free from interference of excipients. | 3 | Antifertility Activity of Hydroalcoholic Extract of Ocimum Basilicum Linn. Leaves on Female Wistar Rats显示文摘Objective To determine the effect of hydroalcoholic extract of Ocimum basilicum Linn. leaves on ovulation, implantation and maintenance of pregnancy in adult female cyclic Wistar rats. Methods Ocimum basilicum leaves extract (364 mg/kg and 624 mg/kg) was screened for its antiovulatory, antiimplantation and abortifacient activities. Vaginal smear of each rat was monitored daily during the 15-day treatment of the first experiment. Estimation of cholesterol in ovarian tissue and its histology was carried out to confirm its antiovulatory activity. In the second and third experiments, animals received treatment from 1st to 7th and 8th to 16th day of pregnancy, respectively. The number of implantations and litter size were determined through laparotomy on 10th and 20th day of pregnancy, respectively in two tests. The treated groups were compared with pain control. Results A significant increase in duration of estrus cycle and diestrus phase was observed (P<0.001). A significant decrease in ovarian weight and notable increase in ovarian tissue cholesterol level was also observed (P<0.001). Weight of uterus in treated group was found to be decreased. Histological report showed presence of large corpora lutea in ovarian parenchyma. Neither antiimplantation nor abortifacient effect was observed in rats treated with both the doses of extract.
