| 13 | Experimental Investigation on Saline Water Purification Using Reverse Osmosis by a Novus Biomimetic Membrane显示文摘A substantial amount of Earth’s water is inadequate for human consumption while local demand is outstripping traditional supplies in many world regions;thereby,brackish and seawater treatment has become a prerequisite.This investigation suggested a complete design of an RO-based desalination filter with a multilayer biomimetic membrane.The study demonstrated a comprehensive method for experimentally fabricating a proprietary biomaterial-based multilayer nano-porous membrane.This analysis revealed that Silk Nano-Fibril(SNF)and Hydroxyapatite(HAP)extracted from Bombyx Mori silkworm cocoons may be utilized to manufacture highly methodical multilayer membranes by incorporating protein-self-assembly and in-situ-bio-mineralization.Membrane’s aquaporin layer containing lipid-bilayers has rapid water permeability and high efficacy at eliminating salt ions and contaminants.The 4µm thick SNF/HAP membrane showed a considerable decrease in salinity,with a salt rejection of 93.33%.The proposed membrane had a saline water permeability of 6.58 LMH/bar,almost 61.09%higher than conventional TFC membranes.Hydrophobic barrier and spiral-wrapped filter architecture of the membrane enable low fouling and self-cleaning properties.The schematic filter design and biomimetic fabrication of the SNF/HAP membrane have formulated a conceptual framework that might direct to the broad-scale,low-cost RO water purification filters,increasing the efficiency of water desalination and boosting the effectiveness of water treatment technologies to reduce potable water scarcity. | Yasin Edmam Iman Nadim Ahmed Sayed Abul Monsur Anachh Kazi Abu Manjur | 2022 | Journal of Bionic Engineering2022,19,3: | 0 |
| 14 | Prevalence of hyponatremia in acute medical admissions in tropical Asia Pacific Australia显示文摘Objective:To determine prevalence of hyponatremia in acute medical admissions in Northern Australasia.Methods:We studied 469 consecutive acute medical admissions to a hospital in Australia's Far North Queensland during the colder months of June and July 2012.Prevalence of hyponatremia and its relationship with gender,age,diagnosis and prognosis in acute medical admissions were investigated.Results:On admission,hyponatremia(plasma sodium<136 mmol/L)was present in 39.4%of patients,with mild(130—135 mmol/L),moderate(126-129 mmol/L)and severe?126 mmol/L)hyponatremia being present in 25.2%,10.7*and 3.6*respectively.Overall,adding together admission hyponatremia with that developing during admission,45.2%of patients were affected with 11.5%moderate hyponatremia cases and 4.1%severe ones.Hypokalemia and hyperkalemia were present in 17.0%and 18.1*,respectively.Overall,275/469 patients(58.6*)presented with an electrolyte abnormality.There were significant correlations of hyponatremia with age but not with gender and in-hospital mortality.Prevalence of hyponatremia was high across all diagnostic categories.Conclusions:The prevalence of hyponatremia appears to be high in the tropical North Australian population,being the highest prevalence reported amongst acute hospital admissions.The previously reported correlations with age and mortality do appear to hold good for this population with a high prevalence of electrolyte disorders.Further prospective analysis on a larger population in the area is needed to confirm our findings. | Usman H.Malabu David Porter Venkat N.Vangaveti Monsur Kazi R.Lee Kennedy | 2014 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2014,7,1: | 0 |

Genotypes for Drought Tolerance at Seedling Stage显示文摘This study was undertaken to investigate oxidative stress tolerant mechanisms in chilli(Capsicum annuum L.)under drought genotypes through evaluating morphological,physiological,biochemical and stomatal parameters.Twenty genotypes were evaluated for their genetic potential to drought stress tolerant at seedling stage.Thirty days old seedlings were exposed to drought stress induced by stop watering for the following 10 days and rewatering for the following one week as recovery.Based on their survival performance,two tolerant genotypes viz.BD-10906 and BD-109012 and two susceptible genotypes viz.BD-10902 and RT-20 were selected for studying the oxidative stress tolerance mechanism.Drought reduced root and shoot length,dry weight,ratio,petiole weight and leaf area in both tolerant and susceptible genotypes,and a higher reduction was observed in susceptible genotypes.Lower reduction of leaf area and photosynthetic pigments were also found in tolerant genotypes.Moreover,tolerant genotypes showed higher recovery than susceptible genotypes after the removal of stress.A higher reduction of relative water content(RWC)may cause an imbalance between absorbed and transpirated water in susceptible genotypes.Higher accumulation of proline in tolerant genotypes might be helpful to for better osmotic maintenance than that in susceptible genotypes.Tolerant genotypes showed higher antioxidant activity as they showed DPPH radical scavenging percentage than the susceptible genotypes.Moreover,closer stomata in tolerant genotypes than susceptible ones helped to avoid dehydration in tolerant genotypes.Thus,the above morphological,physiological,biochemical and stomatal parameters helped to show better tolerance in chilli under drought stress. | Md.Rezwan Molla Md.Motiar Rohman Mahmuda Binte Monsur Mirza Hasanuzzaman Lutful Hassan | 2021 | Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2021,90,5: | 0 |
| 16 | 骨矿物质密度与结直肠息肉的相关性分析显示文摘目的探讨骨矿物质密度(BMD)与结直肠息肉的相关性。方法回顾性收集扬州大学附属医院健康管理中心2016年1月至2021年12月体检人群的信息。记录受试者一般资料、实验室指标、BMD及结直肠镜检查结果。根据是否有结直肠息肉,将患者分为息肉组和非息肉组。比较2组上述指标差异,进一步进行性别分类比较。采用二分类Logistic回归模型分析不同性别人群发生结直肠息肉的危险因素。结果本研究共纳入406例受试者,其中息肉组174例、非息肉组232例。息肉组男性、年龄≥50岁、高血压病、糖尿病、BMD降低比例及年龄、收缩压、舒张压、总胆固醇、低密度脂蛋白、空腹血糖、血尿酸水平均高于非息肉组,差异均有统计学意义(均P<0.05)。二分类Logistic回归分析结果显示,年龄≥50岁(比值比=1.695,95%置信区间:1.032~2.783,P=0.037)、高血压病(比值比=1.839,95%置信区间:1.061~3.189,P=0.030)、糖尿病(比值比=1.970,95%置信区间:1.074~3.615,P=0.028)为男性发生结直肠息肉的独立危险因素,BMD降低(比值比=2.990,95%置信区间:1.174~7.619,P=0.022)为女性发生结直肠息肉的独立危险因素。将女性结直肠息肉患者分为BMD降低组(27例)和BMD正常组(11例),2组息肉数量、直径、位置比较,差异均无统计学意义(均P>0.05)。结论BMD降低是女性发生结直肠息肉的独立危险因素,而在男性人群中未发现相关性。 | 罗小艳 王远志 董小武 於晓平 徐敏敏 Sadman Monsur Jellani 朱馨蓓 路国涛 肖炜明 | 2023 | 中国医药2023,18,6: | 0 |
