1Cholestatic liver diseases:An era of emerging therapies显示文摘Recently the field of cholestasis has expanded enormously reflecting an improved understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying bile secretion and its perturbation in chronic cholestatic disease. Novel anti-cholestatic therapeutic options have been developed for patients not favorably responding to ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA), the current standard treatment for cholestatic liver disease. Important novel treatment targets now also include nuclear receptors involved in bile acid (BA) homoeostasis like farnesoid X receptor and G proteincoupled receptors e.g., the G-protein-coupled BA receptor “transmembrane G coupled receptor 5”. Fibroblast growth factor-19 and enterohepatic BA transporters also deserve attention as additional drug targets as does the potential treatment agent norUDCA. 2Pregnancy and inflammatory bowel diseases: Current perspectives, risks and patient management显示文摘Inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD) are chronic idiopathic inflammatory conditions characterized by relapsing and remitting episodes of inflammation which can affect several different regions of the gastrointestinal tract, but also shows extra-intestinal manifestations. IBD is most frequently diagnosed during peak female reproductive years, with 25% of women with IBD conceiving after their diagnosis. While IBD therapy has improved dramatically with enhanced surveillance and more abundant and powerful treatment options, IBD disease can have important effects on pregnancy and presents several challenges for maintaining optimal outcomes for mothers with IBD and the developing fetus/neonate. Women with IBD, the medical team treating them(both gastroenterologists and obstetricians/gynecologists) must often make highly complicated choices regarding conception, pregnancy, and post-natal care(particularly breastfeeding) related to their choice of treatment options at different phases of pregnancy as well as post-partum. This current review discusses current concerns and recommendations for pregnancy duringIBD and is intended for gastroenterologists, general practitioners and IBD patients intending to become,(or already) pregnant, and their families. We have addressed patterns of IBD inheritance, effects of IBD on fertility and conception(in both men and women), the effects of IBD disease activity on maintenance of pregnancy and outcomes, risks of diagnostic procedures during pregnancy and potential risks and complications associated with different classes of IBD therapeutics. We also have evaluated the clinical experience using 'top-down' care with biologics, which is currently the standard care at our institution. 3Revealing the surface electronic structures of AIGaN deep-ultraviolet multiple quantum wells with lateral polarity domains显示文摘We report on the carrier dynamic and electronic structure investigations on AlGaN-based deep-ultraviolet multiple quantum wells (MQWs)with lateral polarity domains.The localized potential maximum is predicted near the domain boundaries by first-principle calculation,suggesting carrier localization and efficient radiative recombination.More importantly,lateral band diagrams of the MQWs are proposed based on electron affinities and valance band levels calculated from ultraviolet(UV)photoelectron spectroscopy.The proposed lateral band diagram is further demonstrated by surface potential distribution collected by Kelvin probe microscopy and the density-of-state calculation of energy bands.This work illustrates that lateral polarity structures are playing essential roles in the electronic properties of II nitride photonic devices and may provide novel perspective in the realization of high-efficiency UV emitters.WEI GUO LI CHEN HOUQIANG XU YINGDA QIAN MOHEB SHEIKHI JASON HOO SHIPING GUO LIANG XU JIANZHE LU FERAS ALQATARI XIAOHANG LI KAIYAN HE ZHE CHUAN FENG JICHUN YE 2020Photonics Research2020,8,6:2
4Infrared thin layer drying of saffron(Crocus sativus L.) stigmas:Mass transfer parameters and quality assessment显示文摘Saffron is the most precious and expensive agricultural product. A dehydration treatment is necessary to convert Crocus sativus L. stigmas into saffron spice. To the best of our knowledge, no information on mass transfer parameters of saffron stigmas is available in the literature. This study aimed at investigating the moisture transfer parameters and quality attributes of saffron stigmas under infrared treatment at different temperatures(60,70, …, 110 °C). It was observed that the dehydration process of the samples occurred in a short accelerating rate period at the start followed by a falling rate period. The effective moisture diffusivity and convective mass transfer coefficient were determined by using the Dincer and Dost model. The diffusivity values varied from1.1103 × 10^(-10)m^2·s^(-1)to 4.1397 × 10^(-10)m^2·s^(-1) and mass transfer coefficient varied in the range of 2.6433 × 10^(-7)–8.7203 × 10^(-7)m·s^(-1). The activation energy was obtained to be 27.86 k J·mol^(-1). The quality assessment results showed that the total crocin content increased, when the temperature increased up to90 °C but, in higher temperatures, the amount of crocin decreased slightly. The total safranal content of the samples decreased slightly when drying temperature increased from 60 °C to 70 °C and then continuously increased up to 110 °C.
