3Numerical simulation of mud-flows impacting structures显示文摘The study of the interaction of mud-flows with obstacles is important to define inundation zones in urban areas and to design the possible structural countermeasures. The paper numerically investigates the impact of a mud-flow on rigid obstacles to evaluate the force acting on them using two different depth-integrated theoretical models, Single-Phase Model(SPM) and Two-Phase Model(TPM), to compare their performance and limits. In the first one the water-sediment mixture is represented as a homogeneous continuum described by a shearthinning power-law rheology. Alternatively, the twophase model proposed by Di Cristo et al in 2016 is used, which separately accounts for the liquid and solid phases. The considered test cases are represented by a 1D landslide flowing on a steep slope impacting on a rigid wall and a 2D mud dam-break flowing on a horizontal bottom in presence of single and multiple rigid obstacles. In the 1D test case, characterized by a very steep slope, the Two-Phase Model predicts the separation between the two phases with a significant longitudinal variation of the solid concentration. In this case the results indicate appreciable differences between the two models in the estimation of both the wave celerity and the magnitude of the impact, with an overestimation of the peak force when using the Single-Phase Model. 7Transient infiltration tests in pyroclastic soils with double porosity显示文摘Fallout volcanic deposits of SommaVesuvius(Campania,southern Italy),characterized by the presence of layers with contrasting textural and hydraulic properties,are frequently affected by shallow landslides during rainwater infiltration.The soils of the stratigraphic sequence present intraparticle pores,originated by the gases escaped during magma decompression in the volcanic conduit,thus are characterized by double porosity(i.e.,intraparticle and interparticle pores),which is expected to affect their hydraulic behaviour,and to play a key role in rainwater infiltration through layered deposits.To understand the effect of double porosity on the hydraulic behaviour of the involved soils,controlled experiments have been carried out in an infiltration column.The experimental apparatus is provided with newly designed non-invasive Time Domain Reflectometry(TDR)probes,not buried in the investigated soil layers so as to minimize disturbance to the flow,allowing water content measurement during vertical flow processes.Specifically,transient flow experiments are carried out through reconstituted specimens of black scoriae and grey pumices,both loose pyroclastic granular soils from fallout deposits of Somma-Vesuvius,featuring double porosity with different pore size distributions,that were estimated by X-ray tomography and Mercury Intrusion Porosimetry.The experimental results highlight the effects of the double porosity and clearly indicate the different behaviour of the two soils during wetting and drying processes,mainly related to the different dimensions of intraparticle pores.Ciro SEPE Domenico CALCATERRA Emilia DAMIANO Diego DI MARTIRE Roberto GRECO Lucia PAPPALARDO Massimo RAMONDINI Enza VITALE Giacomo RUSSO 2023Journal of Mountain Science2023,20,11:0

9Comparison of Cardiorespiratory and Metabolic Responses Between Kettlebell Half Marathon and Treadmill Running at the Same Average Oxygen Consumption: A Case Study显示文摘Purposes In kettlebell sport(KS)half marathon,the lift of the kettlebell is required for the highest number of repetitions in 30 min.No data are available on cardiorespiratory and metabolic responses during this exercise routine.The aim of the study was to evaluate cardiopulmonary and metabolic responses to KS half marathon compared to 30 min treadmill running,chosen as a reference paradigm of aerobic exercise,at the same average oxygen consumption(VO_(2)).Methods A male elite KS athlete was enrolled in two trials separated by 7 days of rest.In the first trial,one-hand long-cycle KS exercise with a 1/3 body weight kettlebell was performed for 30 min(kettlebell half marathon,KT);in the second trial,30 min treadmill running(TR)was performed at the same average VO2 measured in the first trial(speed 9-10 km/h at 1°uphill inclination).Metabolic and cardiopulmonary assessments[respiratory exchange ratio(RER),tidal volume(TV),breathing frequency(f),minute ventilation(VE)],blood lactate(BL)kinetics,heart rate(HR),and blood pressure(BP)were measured in both experimental sessions.Results The average VO_(2) was 33.3 mL/min/kg in KT and 30.6 mL/min/kg in TR.The subject achieved RER_(peak) 1.17,RER_(mean) 0.98,HR_(peak) 172 bpm(94% HR_(max)),HR_(mean) 86% of HR_(max),BP_(peak) 220/100 mmHg in KT,BL_(peak) 7.2 mmol/L(during trial)in KT and RER_(peak) 1.13,RER_(mean) 0.89,HR_(peak) 142 bpm(78%HR_(max)),HR_(mean) 70% of HR_(max),BP_(peak) 160/80 mmHg,BL_(peak) 3.5 mmol/L(4 min after trial)mmol/L in TR.Conclusion Data indicate that a KS half marathon determines much higher cardiopulmonary and metabolic responses to treadmill running performed at similar VO_(2).Davide Greco Luca Calanni Giuseppe Cerullo Massimo Negro Giuseppe D’Antona 2021Journal of Science in Sport and Exercise2021,3,4:0
